I don't believe I have influenced this by doing anything, but Gmail alerts are no longer appearing in the notification centre. I get the sound that tells me I have an email, but when I swipe down there are no notifications.
I have looked in Settings > Notification Manager, but Gmail isn't in the list!
Gmail is set up correctly to alert me - and, as I said, I am getting audio alerts.
Thanks, Bill
You can go to the settings > apps > find Gmail > click on it and there should be notifications settings available

New P9000 and updated to 2016-05-31. Have set a notification ring tone as default in setting. However, system will not use it and I think uses the factory notification ring tone instead. It appears in the sound & notification section. I can change and hold the phone ringtone and can change ringtones for the contacts. Any ideas on how to spank this baby and make it use my notification choice? Thanks..
You could try to use a third party App (like zedge) to Set the notification.

Notification Ring Tone
Just call me dummy! Found my problem. System notification didn't change. I thought the system notification was for all notifications, i.e. Google alerts and messages. I found the settings for message notifications in the message app, selected the ring tone I wanted and everything works the way I want it. Thanks.
Hi,
In my previous phones i usualy could activate the hidden call record button in the native dialer app.
Seems to be there is a hidden call record feature according to @S3V3N (asked him if it could be enabled )
But since not activated yet, i came to an app where a call record button appears onto your screen when calling.
When calling and trying to record simply tap the button to record.
Most of the call recorder apps that i know do not have this button option ( not that i have noticed before ) so therefore i thought this would be worth to share.
You can download it here : Boldbeast https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder&hl=nl
Works on my rooted device (dont know about non-rooted ones)
You can disable the lockscreen notification "standby" in app settings "standby indicator". Make sure after disabling, you give this app the proper energy savings in settings of phone.
You can also drag the call record button to the place you want. So it looks as it is a build-in button.
It works both ways in recording of course.
I my opinion a 'give it a try' app when you want to have control of recording in your dialer app itself.
Enjoy !
I find time to do the appropriate modification

Do you finally success on Dialer_ZTE.apk mod? I'm unable to load framework on apk-tool 4.1.0
On my S8 I was able to allow certain apps to be excepted from DnD. I cannot find the place to make that change on the 9. I changed ged DnD to custom, but cannot find another place to select the apps I want to be exceptions. Not under the app, not under special permissions (only a short lost of system tools). This one has me stumped.

Which apps are you speaking of? I can see the DnD exception in various apps on mine. You have to dig deep in menus to find them. For example...
Samsung Messages > Settings > Notifications > General Notifications > DnD custom exception.
Gmail > Settings > Manage Notifications > Email >DnD custom exception
Skype > Settings > Do Not Disturb > Receive push notifications while DnD is on.
Then again other like Whatsapp are in the S9 Settings > Apps area
Apps >Whatsapp > Message notifications > DnD custom exception
Having said this it is a it and miss if the DnD exception actually works it seems. I cannot get it to drive side light notifications for Gmail.

Active 911 and I am Responding are the two I want to make exceptions for. Unfortunately, they worked before. Maybe it was going to 8.0 that did it as my S8 didn't get updated until after I switched to the S9.

Update-the exception switch is there for I am Responding. Still searching for Active 911.

I had the same problem (switched phones, couldn't find the DnD exceptions). Ended up here with a Google search.
I found the exceptions under Settings, Notifications, then tap the app you want to create an exception for. It'll be in that next menu.
Previously, there was an "exceptions" menu where you select multiple apps at once to create exceptions for. Now you have to create an exception for each app one at a time. Thanks Android!
Follow up to DND settings issue
Quick follow up to this thread question - after you have set the exception per app and set the custom settings to bypass DND for particular groups, those excepted contacts and apps should override the sound setting, right? I just noticed I missed a tornado warning overnight because the phone was set to DND and silent. I found the emergency provider app to turn on the DND exception but when i go to test the alert sound for emergency alerts via the sms settings, the alert is still on vibrate somehow. Is there something I am missing to allow me to hear emergency alert notifications while in silent/DND mode? I have a Samsung galaxy s7, latest OS with AT&T if that helps. Thanks!

I've been wondering the same thing. There are some things I want to alert me regardless of the phone being muted.
I read a thread a while back where a previous Blackberry user who switch to another smartphone couldn't believe that the only apps that would override mute was 'alarm clock' and 'timer'. Basically, they wanted calendar events to notify them.
So, ya, if there's a tornado coming or you have an extremely important event you'd like to plan for 3 months from today, there's not alarm for that that overrides mute as far as I can tell.
I had the same issue. Active 911 as well. I found the setting within the Active911 app settings. Settings>Notification Settings>Do Not Disturb Exception.

Remove DND Ring APP Exception
I need to remove Ring Doorbell App from DND exceptions. I have been looking for hours for a way to do this. Been through the Ring App itself, Phone Settings>Apps, Settings>Notifications, Settings>DND... I can not find a way to remove the DND permission for the Ring App. Help?
On Note 9 (8.1) I go to "Settings" > "Apps" > choose an app > "Notifications" > tap on notification category in "Categories" section > "Do not disturb custom exception"
Notifications doesnt show up on lockscreen & online games doesnt connect to servers
I dont know if it is just me but I am not getting any notifications on the lockscreen. I did look into the notification settings for each app. No notifications show up even after enabling lockscreen notifications. This is a huge issue and is really annoying because as such there aren't any notification icons in the status bar. Thanks in advance
Edit: (Another issue is that most online games does not connect to their servers at all. PUBG, Dragonball Heroes.) My mistake guys. It was my router's problem, not the phones. Sorry!
Have you enabled lock screen notification for each app, which is different from system wide option?
For the online games, I don't have the problem. You might had tinkered with a wrong option. Kindly check them all one by one.

Thanks but I figured out the online games issue. It is a problem with my new router. Had to change its settings. Totally unrelated to the phone.
About the notifications, I did enable them individually but it didnt change anything. The lockscreen is empty all the time. I have to pull the notification shade down to see any updates.
PS: This is my first time using MIUI. The settings are kinda confusing

I also bought the f1, I've had rmn 3 pro / 5 pro ad MI 5s plus. All of them where pure miui and I'm sorry to say this but the f1 has a poco launcher and I haven't tried other launchers yet but the f1 doesn't show icons on top notification bar. It's supposed to be like that which is annoying as hell!

It depends from the theme you are using. Some of them has that feature some doesn't.

Notifications are not showing up in screen lock of POCO F1
I read all the blogs to fix this issue but a simple action made my notifications to pop up on my lock screen. Initially, when the phone gets manufactured, the software would have set some default value(ON/OFF) but the real value will be set for particular action only when the user explicitly sets it so, just try following steps which may solve your problem(Solved for me).
> Go to settings
> Go to Notifications and status bar
> you will be able to see a toggle button of "Show on lock screen". Just make it as disabled and then enable it.
> then on the same screen select App notification.
> select any app for which you want to show up the notifications on lock screen.
> Enable show notification and App icon badge.
> for example, I selected Gmail and clicked on Email and enabled lock screen notification and floating notification.
For me, it started working fine only by disabling and enabling the toggle button of "Show on lock screen" and I have selected POCO F1 default theme which is a standard MI theme of POCO.
Nope, I am still not able to enable notifications on my lock screen in my new poco f1
I just updated to the new miui 12. The official update as my phone is not rooted.
Now I got the same problem, there are absolutely no notifications on the lockscreen. Why? Anybody else has the same problem?
Before you ask me, yes, of course I have enabled the notifications at the settings
Hi. Is it possible to disable all notification previews that are showing up in the notification bar? Or make them not to appear there anymore? Like in ios, when you deactivate previews and receive a message on instagram or fbk messenger it appears ,,new message'' and messengdr logo.
I managed to disable them but only on lock screen. When the phone is turned on the content of the messages is vissible if i drag down the notification bar.
In settings - applications - If you choose any app in the list you should have a option that disables/enables notifications.

Hi. I don.t want to disable notifications. I just don.t want them to show previews when the phone is unlocked and i receive one message
Tidypanel in the play store will hide them.
Settings -> Apps -> Select an app -> Notifications -> Select the type of notification -> Change "Sound and Pop-Up" to "Sound"
