The Oneplus 2 has been available for reservation on jd.com, a site similar to Amazon, in China for the past week. Over 400,000 people reserved the phone. A reservation allowed the purchase of the phone starting 9:30am this morning. I managed to snag one and should take delivery of it later this afternoon. I was a bit disappointed to find out that it comes with HydrogenOS instead of OxygenOS. However, I'm sure that can be rectified in the near future. I purchased the 64GB model for 2399RMB, about $385USD.
Anyone else living in or ordering from China managed to get their hands on one?
EDIT: It just arrived. The build quality is impressive, especially coming from an LG G3. The accuracy of the fingerprint sensor in my brief tests was good, and I like the ability to unlock from standby. Not a fan of HydrogenOS, but I can see that it might have some appeal to people who like a more minimalistic android experience.
i also live in china and thinking to buy it ,i am just curious about camera quality and how much different hydrogen OS from Oxygen OS?
@khr0n0s Please post Antutu Benchmark results and Camera samples. Also comment on charging time and battery life.
I was gonna buy this or the new moto X, was inclining towards the moto X which would release in September, but now I am thinking that I'll just wait for the new OnePlus phone coming later this year. A company executive said that that phone would be the 'premium' phone, and that u don't think they are gonna add more than 200 $s (which would add up to the same price as the 64gb moto X style) to the price tag no matter how Premium they make it. Also, it is likely that that one will have the snapdragon 820 and a 2k screen. I hope this one has no hardware issues so I can be much more confident in waiting for the upcoming one, knowing that it likely won't have much hardware issues as well.

@ali_ge - You might have difficulty getting hold of one. I was just lucky. They sold 30,000 units in 64 seconds! HydrogenOS is very simple and has no home screens / widgets. The phone boots up in to an app drawer with a large clock at the top. Not many options to customise. It also has no google apps, but that is no different to any other Chinese handset. There is an english language option, but there is still quite a lot of Chinese notifications especially in the bundled apps. I will definitely be switching to OxygenOS when a ROM becomes available.
@bhu1 - Has the premium one plus been officially announced yet? I read an interview with Carl Pei in which he said it would be more about style than specs, but it was very vague. Even if they do release it later this year, if they use the same invite system then it will be difficult to get hold of for a few months.
@vaisakh7 - I'm at work now without the phone. I can post the benchmark and sample pictures this evening. I don't plan to use the phone as my main handset till I can install a custom recovery and flash with OxygenOS. This makes measuring charging time and battery life difficult.

Well yeah. Bootloader can be unlocked even now.. The thing is that we don't have factory image of OxygenOS yet.. As soon as we get it, we can flash it via fastboot.. Or we have to wait till International Version of OP2 goes on sale.. Then someone can easily upload the ROM Zip and we can flash it after unlocking bootloader and flashing custom recovery (we will have to wait a week atleast for a custom recovery imo) ... Or we can still do via fastboot but that will require extra efforts...
So hope OnePlus releases factory images of OxygenOS as soon as possible.
Is it possible also to unlock all international WCDMA/LTE bands when flashing OxygenOS on chinese version?

You don't have to unlock anything as it works just fine out of the box. I also ordered a 64GB version from Aliexpress.
edit: ok, LTE bands B5, B8 and B20 is not supported, but it is not a big deal for me as I mainly use B3 and B7.
I'm curious about the Antutu Benchmark, camera output and battery life.. OP, if you could posts more details, that would be great..
@Mermaidss @Aisakh7 @riyadh - AnTuTu benchmark as requested:
Here are some sample images. I think the camera is as good as LG G3.
For comparison, here is a low light photo from the LG G3 running Cyanogenmod:
OnePlus 2 running HydrogenOS:
Both images were taken using default settings. The OnePlus 2 is darker but more natural.
Pretty good!

OP, please install this and let us know!
hopefully the oneplus 2 china version situation is same as oneplus one, the hardware was the same but the band support was actually controlled by the rom (the radio I assume).
I'm using OPO for 2 years and counting . It's good phone to me but it seems old so i'm looking for new phone.
Le max 2 price in my contry is: 250$ for 4GB/32GB version. It sounds pretty cheap, isnt it? 250$ for brandnew phone, Snap 820, 4GB is quite interesting
My main usage is:
+ phone
+ social apps
+ phone call recorder app, voice memo
+ some small apps
+ and small game like slither.io,..
My OPO is very lightweight with Exodus rom, i wonder which rom to use with Le Max 2 to have same experience.
How about Lemax 2 battery, back camera and design. Please share your experience and suggestions!

Le Eco or LeTV (Whatever they want to call themselves today) can practically give this phone for free but still people, especially the developer community will not touch this phone.
Le is so protective of their custom EUI that they don't want enterprising modding community to make custom ROMs for it. If no one is interested in buying your products, then what is the use of trying to be Apple regarding their software?
BTW EUI is not perfect. It is pathetic unoptimized piece of turd and the less we talk about the random bugs the better.

If Sources are released then it'll be a beast, even then its a good device,No issues except fingerprint is little slow compared to others.Just bought a sealed packed in 14k in India & very happy
They will never release source, their whole company plan is to sell phones with no profit and instead earn money by the streaming function that is built in the rom.
This phone is really the cheapest high-end or close-to-high-end device, it outclasses the Zuk Z2 and Xiaomi Mi5 with its worldwide LTE support.
Wouldn't surprise me if they aren't making any profit, latest flagship phones always cost around $180.
It all depends on what you want. If you are simply looking for a phone at a good price, it is hard to beat this one. The biggest flaw of this phone is the fingerprint scanner. It isn't good. However, if your main goal is a phone that has continued software development, this probably isn't the phone for you. But if you're content with stock rims, this is a very good phone. It can do most everything you want.

I'm running stock China 17s no root, I've no problem with fpscanner it's blazing fast an misses 1/25, but no bugs whatsoever. I compare it to an IPhone, But for 1/3 of the price.
It's a brilliant phone. It takes some getting used to though. EUI is not the most amazing launcher but it runs smooth no lag. The specs are dope at an affordable price. So far I have a few things that I am not happy with in the stock ROM
1. The light sensor in direct sunlight, the colours get over saturated, the blacks become gray.. It's annoying. Hope they can fix that with an update.
2. Camera issues. Can not auto focus during video recording, and images are a bit over exposed in the sun. Average camera that's for sure.
3. Bloatware. A lot of Chinese apps that do not apply to users out of China, they are useless and take up unnecessary space and data.
And that's about all for now. If I could install custom recovery and could get a bug free MIUI 8, i would ditch EUI.

I believe that the software is OK, simply you are too new on the forums and you don't know how to handle it. Please check topics about "notification problems" and you'll find the way to keep them from not cleaning while the phone is in sleep mode. The notifications are working fine.

Hej,
I know that ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 is a new tablet but maybe thre is anyone here that have tested it or know more about it?
I have a Samsung Tab S3(813/2016 version) and from what I read there will probably never be any custom roms for this tablet mainly becouse of the CPU. How about the Asus ZenPad 3S? It is more likely that there will be a custom rom for this tablet?
How does these tablets compare more then what the space says?
About the zenpad
I've had my Zenpad 3S for about three weeks now and I'm actually quite pleased with it. It's fast and very responsive. The screen is awesome, with settings to adjust color temp etc. Nice feel with the unibody aluminium chassi, a bit slippery but nowhere near an iPhone. Camera is sub-par of course, the rear does ok in good lighting. Speakers are loud with surprisingly good sound for a tablet, but it's still a tablet... Battery life is excellent, I manage to go by several days with light use and at least 2-2.5 days with normal use like youtube and facebook. I mostly use mine for reading sheet music though. ZenUI is mostly bad. It's loaded with bloatware, some you can uninstall but others you can only disable. Notification tray has stupidly big icons, very clunky and ugly. Settings are pretty extensive but confusing sometimes. For example, instead of putting Home Screen settings in the settings app under Display or even as a standalone option there (There's one for the lock screen), you have to access a different "preferences" menu from the home screen in order to change something like grid size. Wallpaper options on the other hand is located both there and in the normal settings. So there's definitely stuff to improve, but at least they're working on it with pretty frequent updates.
As for rooting, I have no idea. If enough people root for it (pun intended), maybe.
Let me know if you want to know something more specific about it

Hello there!
I have this tablet from few days. I like it a lot, but asus rom really sucks
I can't find any news about custom roms. Do you know something?
The Zenpad 3S 10 finally made it to the US market. Spec wise it's a very attractive unit, especially for the price compared to the Samsung S2's. But I suspect there isn't going to be a lot of love from the XDA dev's due to the MediaTek processor.

What's the problem with the processor?
Quick googling found me a couple of guides on how to root the ASUS Zenpad 3S 10 Z500M. Just the root feature should make it possible to get places in terms of removing bloat.
I'll hold on to my v1 nVidia Shield Tablet for now and wait for further development in ROMs and rooting for the Zenpad S3 10.

I hope I'm wrong. But based on the paucity of discussions about this tablet here on XDA while trying to just general info, likes, dislikes etc. I'm not getting my hopes up. If I do go this route I'm going to purchase it for what it is now.

Those quick google results of rooting Asus Zenpad 3S 10 are fake. I did the same when I got my tablet and those articles seem very generic or want you to use an untrusted app from the KitKat or even Gingerbread days.

Have you had any luck rooting yet or finding additional hacks for the 3S 10? How about a way to keep the backlight on longer for the back and recents buttons?
I also want to root my brand new ZenPad 3s 10 but I can't find any instructional guide that actually works :S
Can somebody help us???
I think it's dead to root this model. It's a pity because this is a great android tablet with the best sound i experimented.
Cool loud dual speaker but especially the great 3.5mm audio quality. The DAC is realy good.
Root for ASUS Zenpad Z500M
Still no root or roms for the zenpad 3s 10??? Bummer. This tablet has great specs all except for the mediatek processor. I'll have to look for another device then...
I'm still hopeful that this device will eventually get root.
It's a really great tablet, even more so because of it's price point.
Yes, the only reason too root this tablet 4 me is to install adaway and any root features of apps.
I hope in future too, it gaves a guide to root these tablet
I got one for Christmas...Still adjusting to the ZenUi after years near vanilla Android on Nexus and Motorola devices.
@radon222 you can download Google now launcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher
Google launcher was one of the first things I downloaded. But that still doesn't change the pull down/settings menus.
C'mon is possible that nobody else use this fantastic tablet and find a root? I would like to contact some developers....do you know how to do?
Regarding to this post, kernel source was released in mid of december.
Anything new here? I would love to use lineageos on the Asus.
Lineage would be awesome on this tablet.
Hope a developer start working. It's still fun to take out my old TF300 and flash the latest 7.1.1 ROM.
Developers are great.
Hi guys and girls,
I'm looking at getting a new phone soon and my choices I've narrowed it down to, for different reasons, are these:
Google Pixel 2 XL - good battery life, great camera, pure android
OnePlus 5T - good battery life, good development scene
Huawei Mate 10 Pro - can get a good deal on it, great battery, great camera
Cons of the Mate 10 Pro all revolve around EMUI. Bugs/features I've heard about so far are these:
Non-push notifications not working
No notification drawer on lock screen
Quick reply actions etc not always working
These all seem really annoying and are things I wouldn't have a problem with on the Pixel 2. I could root, and install AOSP, but that would just have different bugs, and I'd lose the AI which is obviously a big feature of this phone, plus the camera quality would be lost.
So I'm looking for any users who have either had these issues fixed, or know workarounds, or have any other little bugs that I should know about.
Thanks

Its difficult to say, it seems like a simple fix for Huawei, so don't know why it's taken so long to sort out.

And that's the sort of thing I'm concerned about. They are a massive manufacturer and therefore you'd think that issues like this should be sorted at release. I understand that Oreo is still new and all manufacturers will have issues, but this would be my first Huawei phone and I'd like it to be in good shape! And a good experience.
Audio switches from bluetooth to loudspeaker after some time.
Call quality is very bad due to the AI chip.
Since these issues are there since release, I wouldn't recommend that you buy the Mate 10 Pro.
12 pages of bluetooth issues on German forums: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...0-pro-android-8-bluetooth-problem.853624.html
The two issues stopping me from buying this now are what I've heard that third party apps don't show notifications on the lockscreen always on display and the LED works spordically.
Pretty important that I know I have notification considering this is a communications device I would say.
Also there are reports about poor wifi and cell signal.
Hi!
I'm currently using Mi A1 but thinking about upgrading to Nokia 7.1. I really exited about this phone and like everything about it on paper.
However in a lot of reviews people are complaining about regular lags while scrolling through UI, opening Google Now, notification drawer etc. Many also complaining that apps take long to load and that they even crash sometimes.
Can some of you, real device users please confirm or deny, whether you experience some or all of these things? And how you satisfied with user experience on this device overall?
Thanks.

I too upgraded from a Mi A1 to this. It has no problems connecting to LTE and staying connected unlike the A1. I replaced the default launcher with Nova Launcher and I'd say it's not super noticeable but I'd say it's faster overall. There's an OTA out that pushes the October security patch and likely some software improvements. With Pie likely coming before the end of the month, I'm satisfied. If you get it, buy a case too - believe me. It's thinner width wise and slippery.

Pictures tend to be slightly better on the Nokia 7.1 but camera quality varies by person. One person could see a stunning photo and another says it's subpar. I would love a port of the Pixel 3 camera here.
Smooth experience here, but I'm not the sensitive type that bugs out over 2 vs 4 seconds to open an app.
Camera is way ahead of the Essential.
Great device overall.

Pictures tend to be slightly better on the Nokia 7.1 but camera quality varies by person. One person could see a stunning photo and another says it's subpar. I would love a port of the Pixel 3 camera here.

There's plenty of pixel 3xl gcam
ports, check out the 7 plus thread. Picture quality is amazing with the port..
