TeamViewer QuickSupport for gTablet running Android 2.3.7? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using VNC for remote access/sipport to my mom's tablet. However, she'll be moving around and one thing to use VNC, I need to open a port in the firewall. QuickSupport would be ideal. I found an older version which supports Gingerbread, but when it tells me that there is an Add On available, and I select to install the Add On, it force closes. Doesn't even get to start downloading the Add On. Does anyone have QuickSupport running on a gTablet with Android 2.3.7 and can share the Add On?
Thanks.
PS. It could be that I am looking for the AOSP version of the QuickSupport Add On. I was able to get the AOSP version for an Android device running Android 4.0.4 but this version was not Gingerbread compatible.

[Q] Flash Player on the Viewpad 7

Hey guys,
any of you managed to get flash player 10.1/2/3 going on your viewpad 7? I found this cracked apk file on the net call flashplayer for armv6. It installed OK(at least seemed to be) but didn't make actual difference to the device. I still can't play facebook games, still can't play web-based flash... I've tried with different web browers but none of them would work, very sad....
I fully get it flash player only suppose to work with armv7 + but there's gotta be ways around this right??

this just for ur info
This thread is Moved to General
Are Warez the only solution?
While we're on topic, how come Flash isn't installed on the ViewPad 7? I have it on all my other (2) devices. I just figured that Flash was an Android standard.

I guess the CPU (600 MHz) and/or main board does not support Flash. It's the hardware, not Android.
EDIT: I heard that some of the mobile browsers do support flash on it own.
I think that Opera Mobile or Opera Mini do support it.
Think there is aleady flash 10.1 for our pad you can download it urself or install custorm ROM regads
Flash alone link:
http://androidcampus.blogspot.com/2011/07/app-working-adobe-flash-player-for.html
ROM(kernel "overclocked to 850Mhz" and Flash 10.1 included-please read hw version note):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224825
I will be loading this ROM tomorrow(most probably)
regards zbig0
Let us know how it works.
I"m not keen on rooting.
Knowing how inept I am, I will surely brick it.

Hi,
I have installed few custom ROMs already so feel quite safe... if your install prior to custom ROM eq Clockworks recovery then even if you brick pad you can recover and load whatever ROM u want...
I have now EUViewpad7 1.4 with build in flash ability and OT to 850Mhz and some tweaks...Rom works fine no issue with it.
Flash? hmm Works overally only problem I see is flash-Video--> when you try to wach it there are some color artefacts(which makes picture weird you can see video but colors get weird) or as with justin.tv browser is closing up but flash games etc works fine(maybe little slow).
Appreciate the advice.
Have 1.5 GB available but can`t install anything since RAM is down to 25 MB.

Gnash
The limitation is that the CPU only supports an ARMv6 instruction set, and closed-source Adobe Flash Player (tm) has been compiled for an ARMv7 instruction set. I do not see how a ROM update could solve that. Theoretically a ROM update could emulate an ARMv7 instruction set, but is that realistic for a platform that is mostly open source?
The more practical option would be to port Gnash to the Viewsonic devices. I cannot post links, but there is a page out there on how to build Gnash on android.
BTW, the thread is entitled "Viewpad 7", but it's also the same issue on the Viewsonic v350 smartphone.
i've tried the las flashplayer 10.2 and used Dolphin HD explorer and all works fine. Facebook games also works fine!

Maybe this is a difference between Viewpad 7 and the v350 smartphone. I was able to install that 10.2 package you posted, without error, but it fails to render flash content on the v350. I went to a couple different flash testing pages, including the one on the adobe website. It displays a Lego-looking box (like the puzzle piece that used to appear years ago); it's as if flash was never installed.

Jep this one is good
Ive installed new EU 1.6 rom and then updated flash to 10.2 and all works for me like a charm no issues with youtube hi def videos and even flash videos on webs are working...so its amazing we didnt had any flash on our tabs and now all work(yeah little slow but all works) video is quite vital can watch no problem
tested on: justin.tv wrzuta.pl
regards
I have installed the latest flash 10.2
it all seems to be working swimmingly except for one app
ESPN goals
The video of footy goals actually plays well except for a message bang in the middle of the screen blocking the main action
it states
"Cannot play video
Sorry, this video cannot be played."
and closing this message also closes the playing video
I guess this is an app/software issue and as such modification is needed which is a shame
Reinstalling an older version of espn goals seems to have worked 1.6 (I could not find 1.7)
1.8 is the latest
i just installed the flash player 10.2 on my viewpad 7 but i still cant play flash. It displays the lego with a "?" inside. In fact, when i go to setting manage application, i dun see the flash player running. What can i do?
Flash doesn't work
I've installed the EUviewpad-Rom 1.7. Flash seems to be included but doesn't work. My Viewpad has ite-hardware / hw1.07. On flashbuilder.eu it shows that flash isn't running.
for those who installed flash player on viewpad 7, is it choppy when watching videos online?
Unable to use Adobe Flash
I have tried all the Flash APKs found on this site. None work - period. My Viewpad 7 is HWVer 107 and is in factory unmodified condition. If anyone is having success running any of these versions of Adobe Flash, it would be helpful to elaborate on both the ROM version and browser you are using. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
The core issues being that Vpad7 is based on ARMv6 CPU, which Adobe excluded when designing Flash Player 10.x development, so it really doesn't matter our hardware ver. is 106 or older, and newer ones v.107 - whether it's ITE touchscreen or not being irrelevant in this case. Java is installed along with Flash Player 10.1 or 10.2 - but it simply will NOT run.
Those with non-ITE hardware perhaps are luckier as their kernel can be over-clocked to run faster, so whatever workarounds or fixes can get it to run for them.
I have a HTC Eris with similar specs. and we had 10 times development work from XDA'ers, LOL, over what's dedicated here for the Vpad7, trying various patches to get it to run - and, still N.G. (no good.) The newer devices, like my HTC Incredible 2 with better specs - 1G CPU and add'l RAM - run Flash 10.1 out of the box - been rooted & running custom ROM to upgrade it to run better & faster.
Been uninstalling, re-installing both 10.1 and 10.2 - Dolphin HD browser & Skyfox browser plus the default ones - my summary: it simply won't do it. Moving on to other Apps that can be optimized, just my 2 cents. of course.
Cheers !
P.S. However, as long as I can watch YouTube on it like now, whether it's Flash 10.x or not, really doesn't matter to me (anyway.)

[Q] What to do now ?

My Atrix is SIM unlocked, rooted, bootloader unlocked and Gingerbread installed.
What to do now ? Just to use it as a smartphone only ?
Jocking. But suggestions appreciated.
- Is it really worth to try an other ROM ?
- Is there a possibility to connect a hard disk via USB port ?
- Is there a dual boot possibility to boot additional an other Linux operating system ?
- Is there any application to remote control my Atrix from my Linux (Ubuntu) laptop as a remote computer with desktop (homescreen etc.) of my Atrix ?
( Attention not talking about remot control of computer from the smartphone)
- How could a store (move) my
text massages (Gingerbread text messages)
emails (k9 mail)
videos (Gingerbread video camera)
fotos (camera zoom FX)
bookmarks, etc ... my profile of Firefox mobile
on my external SD card ?
Hi Folks ! My questions were not jocking, but probably too many of them.
So maybe one only:
Is it worth to try an other ROM when your phone is already unlocked and rooted with the original one ?
Until you've used cyanogenmod everything else is just.....lowbrow. Download the latest stable release of CM7 from the development forums. And you'll never go back to stock again.

Hi Phalanx7621 !
I have heard of cyanogenmod ROMs, but to my knowledge ( http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices ) there isn't an official one for the Atrix up to now, where everything (fingerprint etc.) is running fine.
Anyway, as I never used a different ROM, I have quite some difficulties to understand what are the benefits for doing like this. For sure there are, otherwise nobody would do. Maybe the ones of you who changed the ROM could share some facts with us the still non changed ones.
Maybe I am wrong, but if I compare this action with my ThinkPads. Should be comparable, as the Atrix is a kind of mini laptop and even running with Linux (Android). Same on my ThinkPads, they are real laptops and running Linux as well (Ubuntu). - Sorry can not compare this with Windows.-
To update the Android version from V 2.2 Froyo to Gingerbread V 2.3 is like an update from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10. Usually some improvements, bug fixes and updates. Fine.
To change the ROM. Isn't like to change the distribution on the laptop ? For example to change from Ubuntu 10.04 to Linux Mint 11. Both are on the same basic. More or less the only difference is the look & feel. All applications are the same. And even Ubuntu you can make it look like Mint or vice versa. No really need to change the distribution.
Maybe this is the same with changing the ROM. The look & feel.
But what about
- boot time ? Really different with different ROM ?
- the speed ? Really different with different ROM ? But when ? To open Firefox for example ?
- the used RAM by the operation system ? Any differences ?

There is a quasi-official ROM. Actually, it IS Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 with some fixes to get it running on out Atrix. The fingerprint does not work because only Motorola ROMS have both the kernel drivers and the libraries to make it working. Fortunately, the Atrix Cyanogenmod team is working on this and eventually they will find a way to make it working.
In any case, I find that the stock rom and the stock radio still has the best battery life (in my case, still Froyo). Maybe not the best performances, but I am pretty sure about the battery life.
Update: CM7 Atrix team have the permissions to build their nightly releases on Cyanogenmod build server. I believe that they are getting fully recognized by Cyanogenmod. Therefore, I would say that they are pretty much official.

[Q] Android gmail application

Hi,
I am looking for information on how to get the Gmail apk freely available without using Android market.
I have two custom android devices with no access to market - one running Android 2.1 and another running Android 4.1.
I would like to get 2 versions of the Gmail.apk -
1. Older one which is compatible with Android 2.1
2. Latest one
I am using my own build made from the AOSP code on these devices - android market is disabled in the build.
Also what is the procedure/licencing for packaging the Gmail.apk as part of your own build from the Android AOSP code ?
Thanks.
