Hi all,
Well for everyone who want's to have the Google apps like:
Android market
Youtube
Gmail
etc.
Here is a link to a share where the gapps4archos can be downloaded.
http://code.google.com/p/archos-apps-installer/downloads/list
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
WARNING: You cannot install this appInstaller if you installed gApps4Archos or any other gApps installer. Anytime you switch appInstaller programs, you MUST reset your device back to stock. If you've NEVER installed ANY market/gApps installer, then your good... no need to reset.
NOTE: If you've ONLY used my appInstaller, then you can REMOVE the old files using my app and re-install the apps at the same time, then REBOOT.
1) Download - http://code.google.com/p/archos-apps-installer/downloads/list
2) Copy download to your device via USB (if you didnt download directly using your Archos)
3) Use 'Files' app to locate gAppsInstaller, then execute/install it
4) Choose install packaged apps or choose to install your own packaged 'apps.zip' file located on the internal drive (not sdcard)
4a) There maybe a short delay after you tap an install button (its installing and you'll be notified when its done, about 5-10 seconds)
5) REBOOT!!
6) Follow the Market FIX instructions below
MARKET FIX:
This will get you most missing apps from the market, except some "protect market apps"
Setting-->Manage Applications-->All-->Market (Clear Cache then 'Force Stop' -- DO NOT clear data)
Setting-->Manage Applications-->All-->Google Services Framework (Clear data then 'Force Stop')
REBOOT again
Market Fix video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l-nySibzeA&feature=player_embedded#!
If you do this correctly you will find most missing apps like 'Copilot Live USA' in the Market. However, some apps will not show because they are "protected" Market apps. These include 'NY Times'. Google search "android protected market apps" if your not familar.
NOTE: The latest version of GMAIL and Youtube can be downloaded in the market...
Thanks to our friends from the archosfans.com forum
Thankyou for this, I have seen how much work you have put into it. Tried gAppsInstaller_v3.apk this morning and seems to be working well, no FC's etc so far...
(edit)Oppss ment to say thankyou Kenyu73 for the app and thanks Dreetje for posting, thought you was Kenyu under a different name...

Well i didn't made it, Kenyu73 did make it It makes my device complete, really love the Archos device!
Thanks! I've looked at these instructions a dozen times on ArchosFans and always missed that market was clear cache not clear data and never figured out why it didn't work right for me. With the latest gapps I'm now seeing most everything. Awesome guide!
Edit: For some reason when I use this installer however, TweetDeck will not run properly. It always Force Closes once I've signed into my account and I cannot fix it. This is one of my favorite apps. If someone could figure this out I would appreciate it.
Edit 2: This installer causes a ton of apps not to launch in my experience thus far. TweetDeck as mentioned, Moblox, Angry Birds, they all just FC or hang endlessly. I'd still recommended the other installer with the same steps outlined in this post.
Stupid question but does "reset your device back to stock" mean anything else than a reboot? Like an Android reset or something?

from recovery or from menu, not reboot
thanks for the advise on market acces update, now finally updated gmail apk
I have the Google Marketplace up and running and for the most part it works wonderfully. My biggest issue are protected applications I use on my HTC EVO aren't showing up and some of these application I really use / enjoy. Some of these are:
1) BatteryView
2) Battery Watch
3) Splash ID!
4) Monster App Pro (I'm using the non-Pro right now)
I've been trying to add the "Market Access" application to the mix to help me with this issue, but thus far can't get z4root to work. Oh, it says it was successful, but none of the programs that need root can get it from the Super User application.
I can live without these protected applications, they are simply nice to have -- except Splash ID!, which IMHO, is necessary to protect my development personal, professional, and development information. I was able to get a work around for Splash ID, for which I'm thankful.

Excuse my ignorance, but how is this at all new? There's been a gapps hack available for every Archos device for quite some time now. It's always been readily available on ArchosFans.com.

It's a different version which allows for more flexibility, especially for updating the two most useful core apps.

It also has less apps in it, saving space for where the apps are installed, especially since Archos only provided around 275~ MB of space for app installation
And not all apps can move to sd card so any space is helpful
All we need now is the Samsung Galaxy Tab email app ported over. If anyone has any idea please share.
Thanks for posting the info for my gAppsInstaller. I've been away from the game for a few days now doing housework "mods" (=
The only issue remaining that I'm aware of with this app is a certain sub-set of apps that FC (AutoZone, OSMonitor and a few others mentioned in this thread. I haven't had time to research, but whatever the gApps4Archos is doing is making these work ok... I'm thinking its some registration of dll files ('so' files perhaps). I do know it copies 4-5 .so files into the froyo/system directory, but i'm not sure right now if I need to do some type of '.so' file registration with them.
If any linux guru's out there know of something I need to do specifically with these (besides copying them to the '/froyo/system' directory, please let me know.

Your question: I searched for an explenation about registering the .so files and found this link: http://users.actcom.co.il/~choo/lupg/tutorials/libraries/unix-c-libraries.html#shared_dlopen
just checking - these instructions are for 2.2 only ?

I dont think he created the original gApps4Archos package, he only de-compiled it, added the updated the apps with the newer 2.2 market then vanished.
I think he dropped of the radar after he did the re-package of that app.

My app doesn't include youtube (i required you to get it from the market) so I'm not sure why you say it wont update.
Did you use this one or gApps4Archos?
yes i use that and youtube comes with it but it keeps fc and it wont download from market
I was trying to install some custom apk's for some games and stuff ( skins, fonts, wallpapers) and after tapping install and waiting about a minute, I always get "app not installed". It worked before with no problems and all of a sudden it won't install anything unless from Google Play. I do not have any overlays enabled and previous version/stock apk is uninstalled. I tried installing with Lucky Patcher and it said there was a conflict with permissions and to uninstall app first. The original apk is gone, so not sure what's up there.
Below is what I have. Thanks!
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Lollipop 5.0.1
Kernel 3.10.40-4243283
Rooted
SuperSu
Titanium Backup Pro
Busy Box
Unreal that no one here knows anything about this...

Is there any kind of error message or reason for the failure given? Anything you've changed for this to happen? Have you checked the logcat to see if there's any more information there?

Is this the post from 2015 that you are talking about, since this is your last post until lately)? When you didn't get help for some gaming and other stuff that you were trying to use Lucky Patcher for, so you decided we were all jerks? Like any problem ever should be able to be solved just by posting to XDA,?
okay
Maybe you should read this thread/post
Operators are not here 24/7 to tend to your needs. Please realize that. This is a developers site first and foremost.
I’m not talking about not getting help for lucky patcher years ago. I’m talking about the one I posted yesterday or day before yesterday about custom roms for my sm-t810. I googled it and checked here, obviously in the wrong places, to find roms compatible with my device/firmware. The other post I made about broken links and malware, etc, was because that thread had to do with theming, a guide, how to do it, etc. I was disappointed that several links were either broke or lead to some ad page.
Hey guys, how are y'all doing?
Here's a little background on my problem:
A year ago bought a cheap-ass smartphone for my mom, from a big supermarket chain in my country that was selling french phones cheaply, it was only 60€ and my mom needed a phone, so there it is!
Anyway cut to the present, the phone is riddled of what I suspect is malware that installs itself as soon as I remove it such as Free Games, com.google.toolkit, MiniChrome, N62Androidpt, System Component, adservice, and a couple others.
It also keeps switching wi-fi off, and turning on that option that allows apps to be installed from unknown sources, and worst of all it keeps opening the phone in built browser with adds, and even porn sites on occasion, which is really not desirable as my very young aged nieces love stealing the phone and try to use it.
I installed malwarebytes, also did a factory reset to no avail it fixed nothing.
So I decided to flash a stock rom to see if I could get rid of it, searched around and found a repository of stock roms or firmwares or whatever it's called (I'm not too familiar with this side of smartphones), which I'd love to post, but apparently can't because I've last than 10 posts: doc-doapi.com/EM/selecline/smartphone/
It has a lot of roms for different models of my brand.
Used the UpgradeDownload - R2.9.2015 tool that was in that folder and flashed it successfully.
After I turned on the device it opened the new phone setup process, logged in to my google account, and restores my stuff like contacts, and a few trusted google apps from before the flash, but it soon started again to install those malware apps I stated up there on it's own, and it was soon in the same state as before...
Anyway here's some info about my phone that probably should've gone to the top.
It's a Selecline phone
Model S4S5in3g
Android version: 5.1
Kernel version: 3.10.65
Compilation number: S3S5in3g.V1.2_20160307
At the back it has a sticker and another model number 870712 which I used to find the folder on that repository of stock roms.
And that's all in a big nutshell, anyone has any tips?
Thanks.
lil' bump
Do you have login credentials for this Auchan website where you found the ROMs? It is asking for a login ID and password. I need ROM for Model S6S5IN3G.
Quick tip for getting rid of Malware even before they start. Go to Settings and check Data Usage. See which apps are using lots of data (downloading junk into your device). Note if there are any strange sounding apps that are downloading a lot of data, especially if it is not an app that you yourself were directly using.
Next, flash the stock ROM again. Once you flash the new ROM, you have to find a way to root the device. Try KingRoot. Then after the phone is rooted, go to Playstore and download SD Maid. Run SD Maid and give it root access. In the settings for AppControl of SD Maid, allow it to show system apps. Then run app control and freeze any strange-looking user apps (or anyone that was downloading a lot of data) and system app that are not required.
Please, let me know about the website and how to access the ROMs.
As mentioned before, install a clean room again. Copy virustotal app from the attachment of these post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77053739&postcount=11) to SD-card and install it. Turn wifi on and let it run. Control every app and the system-apps. Post a screenshot of the findings. If there are findings, then the room is infected. The only way to deal with this, is to root it, install rootexplorer an kill the infected app. This can be dangerous, if for example, the lauchner is infected, an alternative launcher must first be installed and set as default, before you can kill the infected one (otherwise you will own a useless phone until you flash it again ;o).
Hey guys, thanks for trying to help.
I tried literally everything before, I've even somehow got a kitchen up and running and I removed everything that looked suspicious and all those bran add-ons from the rom, but even then I'd still get infected.
I didn't really try the antivirus route though and to be honest I already shelved that phone, but I'm kinda bored, so I'll try y'all suggestions, an extra working phone can always come in handy.

About:
This is very much a personal project that I felt others would appreciate. I enjoy retro gaming very much, and as some of you may know, emulation is very CPU intensive. Hence the reason for making Spacesung. My goal was a stock rom that was lag free, debloated, and buttery smooth for gaming. I believe I have achieved this, and so, I give this to the you, to enjoy, use, modify, and share at your discretion.
Features
•Deodexed
•Debloated- I have removed all unnecessary Samsung, Google, and Amazon apps.
•Removed all Amazon symlinks. (Libs are next.)
•Deknoxed- Note: Some leftovers may be present. If you find any please let me know.
•Rooted- SuperSu is included.
•Up to 10gb+ of internal storage is available. This number will change depending on what you install afterwards, and what you have already stored on your internal SD.
Instructions:
1. Download the ROM from here.
2. Download GoogleKeyboard. You will need this after installation because the Samsung keyboard has been removed.
3. Make sure both files are on your internal, or external storage. Either is fine.
4. Reboot to recovery and wipe, data, system, cache, & dalvik cache.
5. Install Spacesung.
6. Reboot and wait. SuperSU will cause it to boot loop once. This is just root sinking it's teeth into the system. Don't interrupt it. After the aforementioned loop, it'll take about ~5-8min to start up. This only applies to the very first boot. Afterwards it only takes ~10 seconds to startup.
7. Skip all the setup steps that require typing. This can be done after you install GoogleKeyboard.
8. Enjoy!
Special notes:
*Google play, and Google services are still installed. You can disable both if you want to. You must disable it as a device administrator under the security options first, or it will be grayed out.
*Syncing will not work, since it has also been removed.
*Device encryption and secure storage shouldn't work either.
*Chrome is still installed. It can also disabled. There is no way to remove it yet, as the 7.0 framework uses it for webview. I'm still searching for a workaround to save more space.
*Anything not listed, should be working perfectly. If something is broken, let me know. And please remember, that anything already listed is not a bug, it is intentional. If you have any issues with 3rd party apps, I will try to help you, though I make no promises.
New!: Spacesung Oreo Debloat ScriptNotes:
1. Flash in recovery after the first boot.
2. Wipe dalvik cache ONLY! (Oreo cleans up data from removed apps automagically after rebooting.)
3. Profit!
*If you want to modify what's removed, simply open the updater-script with a text editor (preferably Notepad++) and add or remove the # sign. All apps in the stock Oreo system are listed in alphabetical order. This script should be safe to flash as is. Touchwiz, Theme store, Google play, and Samsung keyboard, are not removed by default. No files will be added to your OS either.
Ex.
delete_recursive("/system/app/AmazonMP3"); ← This would be deleted. #delete_recursive("/system/app/AmazonMP3"); ← This would be ignored.
*As always, anything that I make is free to use for other projects, public or personal, without my permission. No need to ask me, just do it! Credit is always appreciated, though not required.

There are no kernel tweaks. I have been trying to build a custom kernel from source for this, however, ubuntu/virtualbox are not playing nice with my hardware. (Ubuntu stops using my CPU completely after ~10min.) This is just a very bare bones stock Rom, with Trebuchet as a launcher. There are no special system tweaks added to it. Regarding that topic, I am working on tethering, it has been very difficult though. Samsung's smali files are a huge mess to work with. I can get the "you are not subscribed to this service" notification to stop, but tethering still won't start. Are you missing any options that would normally be available on stock? If so, I would definitely like to fix that ASAP.

Downloaded and installed nicely. Tried to switch superuser with magisk but no go, need stock boot image but all in all a good clean debloated Rom. You should include a keyboard though, your link did not work so I downloaded one on my PC and transferred to internal sd and installed. If you can get magisk instead of superuser, you will have a winner !

This ROM is totally debloated. I went back and tried it again, very smooth, very fast but Contacts would not sync so I could not call anyone. Google account would not sync so no play store apk update from old account.Samsung account missing so no way for me to bring certain apks and utilities from stock ROM. Bare-bones android op. But I will keep it on my sd card.
PS
I just remembered those system apks that are missing that I need, I could have installed thru Titanium Bkup! [emoji846]

You can flash gapps for sync, I don't have the sync apps on hand or I would attach them. I've flashed pico without issue. I forget which one(s) has the sync apps, it's possible that all of them do. Magisk can be installed fairly easily. Grab Magisk v16. Open SuperSU, look in settings and choose full unroot. Select yes when asked to restore the stock boot image, and no to recovery. As soon as it reboots, hold Vol↑+Home to catch TWRP, then flash Magisk. As for Touchwiz, try installing the one in the attachments below. If it gives you any problems, let me know. If I update anything I will definitely be using Magisk, and I'll keep these options in mind for separate builds in the future.

Thanks man
I used this rom as the base for my gaming phone and then stripped it down to only system framework apps. If the latter were removed it would crash the phone. Anything I removed to get to that point, had minimal impact on space (fifty or so megs) and bootup times compared to a fully loaded phone (5 seconds). Spaceminer did an excellent job on this.
Video here of bootup comparison between two Galaxy J7 Perx, one with the Spacesung rom:

Is the Oreo stock ROM a battery chugger?
It's just me or anybody have experienced less stamina from their battery with the Oreo stock ROM even with all the de-bloat applied. Compared to the latest ARG2 Nougat it's almost halves the lifetime of the battery, even when on standby it consume a lot more.

Have you tried turning off all the scanning features? Also in the dev options, the switch that keeps mobile data always on, is enabled by default. It's normally off in Nougat. Turning that off should help tremendously.
That being said, I do think Oreo is a battery hog, and I don't think there's any performance gain over Nougat. My best benchmarks with this phone are running Nougat (ARG2), debloated. My battery gives me 51-52hrs on Nougat, with 17-18hrs of that being screen on time. I plan on running Oreo this week to get a good comparison between them.
Hello, Doctors!
(If I posted in wrong section, please move where it belongs )
First, I want to thank you, all the community, for your great work. I'm following you for some years and your advices and solutions saved my devices or make them better.
Now, I'm pretty cautious with my devices but error is human.
Somehow, I've managed to infect my device for the first time, ever.
What's done is done, keep clam and let's fix it, I said to myself.
But the infection is too deep for my skills and I have to beg for your help.
Here we go:
Device:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2
Miui 9.6 Stable | Global 9.6.3.0 (LHMMIFD)
Symptoms:
Play Store
- version 5.x.x
- can't update: it says "new version is available, will be downloaded and installed" but nothing happens.
- sometimes when I try to open the app it says "App in not installed"
- app is not showing in "Installed apps"
- there are 7 apps that can't be updated: they download, installing... and then just error 504
- apps that wouldn't update: Gmail, Google, G, Drive, G Play Music, G Maps, Google Services for instant apps and YouTube
- device region blocked on China
- Gmail error: "Gmail relies on Google Play Services, which is not supported by your device"
- updating Instant Apps returned "Item not found"
Treatment applied so far:
Factory reset > set up as new device - not working
Used Raaj52's excellent guide to flash TWRP (wiped all including SD card) and root.
- Flashed official MIUI 9
Miui 9.6 Stable | Global 9.6.3.0 (LHMMIFD)
- all Play Store issues are here
- installed SupeSu: didn't detect root, but it should
- SuperSu doesn't shows any apps
- redo root process: Sure detected root but still not showing any apps
- can't update SuperSu
- installed TitaniumBackup - uninstalled Play Store and installed latest version 12.x.x.
- reboot device: stucked in bootloop
- back from square 1: TWRP, flashed all the stuff again
- all the problems are here
- can bootloader be infected?
- don't know what to do anymore
- please help!
- thank you!
Happy holidays to all!
Welcome on XDA board (^_^)....
there is no infection at all, it's a common problem that google has stopped supporting android 5 "which our latest MIUI is!", the problem has been discussed and solved (somehow) here https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/help/update-gmail-app-error-504-t3874934 and please use search before posting...greetings
I see, but...
Play Store should have nothing to do with this.
It should stay to latest version regardless what app I have installed or try to update, Google or other. If Xiaomi decided to not offer further suppot for some Google apps ( not likely, though), it’s ok-ish. Users and other apps are depending on latest Play Store app to update al apps.
Why my PlayStore is stucked on 5.x. x and not updating to last version? Why I ‘m blocked to china region? Believe me I searched, before posting.
So, I have to garbage my phone because I’ m tired to flash ROMs, softbricks, endless tutorials or junior members offering solutions, telling me to search for threads. Or I’ll go for iOs. Please, read my post carefully before offering a solution. Thank you.
Gmail, Google, G, Drive, G Play Music, G Maps, Google Services for instant apps and YouTube can be updated

so the solution would be the great Skinny version of MIUI made by @Gyovany96 ....you just need (in TWRP) wipe cache, Dalvik cache and system before installing the new ROM and the good news is a new version just came yesterday! I believe it comes with latest google apps preinstalled if not you can simply flash OpenGapps variants or installing MicroG Gms core and service framework then sideload google play store and installing it.
and about bootloader, it has nothing to do with specific apps ,it contains scripts that loads kernel modules/drivers and internal storage partitions.....etc , so can it be infected? actually yes but every bootloader differs from every device model so it's impossible to make such a huge effort and apart from that if I would really make a virus for s pecific model bootloader, I'd play with CPU freq. and disable thermal throtle to burn the phone or simply to drain battery like hell or maybe corrupt the boot partitions to make it stuck at every boot or corrupt the charging voltage levels to make it impossible to charge again....and the evil goes on not just to prevent google store from updating!

Thank you very much for your advice and information. Now I understand.
I already tried LineageOS and crDroid. Both are great but I love crDroid which is awesome!
Many, many thanks to developers and contributors for their hard but beautiful work.
