[Q] question on unlocking atrix bl

Hi guys, so I have a stock 2.3 atrix and need some help please. I am trying to unlock the bootloader, I followed the instructions at (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202883) but when i get to step 12 and type in command "fastboot oem unlock" I receive "INFOOEM unlock is not implemented" any help is much appreciated thanks
clearly the unlock is not implemented on your bootloader, maybe if you had a bootloader that it was implemented on it would work. there might be a place to find such a bootloader but i forget where it is.
Are you sure you flashed the unlock sbf? Because the error you're getting is what happens when someone hasn't flashed it yet.
so yea I just got it to work, I just redid all the steps and it worked, thanks for the help

Unroot Device and Restore to Factory

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if there is a way to reset the phone so it looks like no rooting was done to it or anything along those lines.
I know I can relock the device but it will read "RE-LOCKED" in the boot loader. Is there any fix for that. Also Is there any way to unroot the device and flash the stock verizon boot and recovery images to it?
No way to not have it say relocked because we don't have S-off so even after back to stock ,Hboot will show Relocked instead of Locked.
Can relock by going back into the same folder you have the unlock bin and when you type in the CMD its something like Fastboot oem lock
Once relocked , you can run the stock RUU that is stickied on the forums and it will put it back to the stock Verizon version you had before you unlocked and rooted. There is a guide also on how to relock or else I know the info is on Htcdev site as well.
Thank you for the reply. I was hoping there had been a way to get it to just say locked. I am going to return the phone. Not really my cup of tea. I'm just waiting for the RUU to download then I will put that onto my device and hopefully they don't say anything.
Please let us know

Deadheartsbeat ... it would be appreciated if you would let us know if Verizon checks the phone AND if you ever get charged on your bill for the full value once it gets through Verizon's system and HTC's system (however they do warranty exchange). I have a thread going asking people to please report in (but, of course, 90% of the answers have nothing to do with the question asked):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453767
PLEASE think about letting the community know how the Verizon warranty return goes once you are Re-Locked. Thanks

I'm not warrenty returning. I'm going for a full blown refund. If they try to charge me for the phone after I return it there will be issues. I will not let them charge me and keep the device. If they ask why I unlocked it I'm gunna tell them I thought I had to do that to install the app i made using the sdk.
I will let you know what happens though
Chances are if your returning it in return window and your just telling them it wasn't what you wanted they won't even bother looking in hboot. As long as phone is functioning properly when they turn it on and what not should be fine.

LOL, exactly.
Most VZ reps don't even know what hboot means, never mind how to check it.....

Nightmare, help please :)

Hi, I literally opened the nexus 9 out of the box, powered it on & after choosing a wifi network it began updating, the device crashed during this update and now it won't boot! I've tried & searched for everything, anyone have any ideas?
Booting to recovery with HW buttons, wiping cache/userdata/factory reset - Nada!
Can boot into fastboot, no permission to flash as oem unlock is disabled!
I cant get into the tablet to unlock fastboot oem unlock within devOpitons or usb debugging etc, (com.android.phone has stopped on boot) black screen indefinitely.
I can't flash any images while it is locked
surely there must be a simple method?
desperate here
Return it
I'd just return it. I'm no expert, but I'd seek a way to avoid the update during setup and try to postpone it until you unlock developer options and OEM unlock. I'm not sure how you'd bypass the update during setup, but you're in the right place if it's possible.

Certainly it can. If it started to install the 5.0.2 OTA, there have been a lot of bricks.

Welcome. And FWIW: there's a button for that.
If I remember correctly you can still flash the stock images even with the boot loader locked. Its only custom images that google will not accept unless you unlock boot loader.

Bootloader has to be unlocked to "fastboot flash" anything.
You can sideload an OTA with a locked bootloader, but you have to be able to access recovery.

Indeed I'm still new to nexus devices. I've been flashing on Samsung devices for years so I'm still stuck in my Odin ways. Just got the N9 less then a week ago. The whole fastboot thing was foreign at first but I'm getting there lol. Thank you again.

Is a try and return possible?

Hi Friends,
Long story short. I have a Note 4, and want to see if the V10 is for me. I am on T-Mobile and in excellent standing with them.
My question is:
Is there a way I could buy the phone, and try it for a few days (whatever the limited period is), Bootloader unlock it, root it, custom recovery it, but if don't like it and want to return it, return it back to TRUE stock with everything relocked and unrooted?
So really the questions are 2:
1. Does T-Mobile allow a phone trial, and return all of your money if you return it by the right time? Has anyone tried this?
2. What's the best way (guides/links) to get the phone, unlock Bootloader, root, TWRP it, and then restore to complete stock and locked, if don't like the phone?
Appreciate all your help! Thank you!
You have 14 days to return it (20 if bought online) but there is a $50 restocking fee unless the phone is defective.
Thanks bud! Even at Best Buy they have this? And how about my question about rooting, unlocking, and etc and restoring? Possible?
Anyone?
You can not truly revert to stock.
Once you unlock the bootloader it will forever say "Bootloader State : Bootloader Unlock" when you turn it on.
Even if you relock the bootloader and find a way to remove that message, in the hidden menu is a place that lists every rooting file that has ever been on the device, and the time at which it was detected.
Like mine says it has detected SuperSU, BusyBox.
You can buy, unlock, root, unroot, relock, return.
However do not be surprised if they catch it and throw a fit.
Incorrect. You boot into the bootloader, flash the bone-stock system image, do "fastboot oem lock" and the bootloader gets relocked and the message at boot disappears and the LG RCT thing in the hidden menu says "Official" again. Stop spreading misinformation.
@siraltus thank you for your response bud. Can you point me to a link to a guide or instructions on how to flash the stock image via the bootloader and relock it? Thanks!

Question MetroTmo variant

So, am I correct in assuming I’m unable to do anything with this device until I can sim unlock? Seems that’s a requirement for boot loader unlock. I got one of these for cheap cheap because I need an android device with out gapps but I’m thinking that’s not going to work until it’s sim unlocked. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

A couple pages back there is a thread on how to oem unlock without sim unlock. It involves running a debloat script or using adb to get rid of one service. It goes through every step you need to do to unlock.

No problem, it takes almost exactly a week to the hour to get the code. Rest of the guide should be fairly easy to follow too. Just remember if you ever you the MSMTool to get back to stock it relocks your bootloader. You'll need to unlock it again by using the file OP sends you before flashing other nonstock firmwares again

Once you get the code, you can simply use my dummies guide to full rom backup, convert to US OEM (DE2117), and root and has the "oem unlock bypass" command in the guide.
