i9300 heads up notifications not working? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.
I've been having the issue that heads up notifications aren't working at all on my Galaxy S3 GT-i9300. They'll be turned on under the notificafions settings but they never actually pop up, they just appear in the status bar. I've tried various 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 roms but heads up notifications aren't working for me on any of them. Anyone know what's wrong and how I could fix that? I'd really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

I wasn't able to find any setting like that. I'm using a CM12.1 rom.

[Q] SIII CM10.1 Nightly Flashlight Problem

Samsung GSIII Version GT-19300
CM10.1 - Nightly 20130610
My torch/flash light is permanently on. Switching it on via the app makes it dimmer and then it goes to high brightness when toggled. I have managed to turn it off by toggling the app a number of times, but it always switches on again.
I cant see any services that could be causing this to happen.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I think some app of yours is misbehaving... If you don't know which app it is then the only way is to do a full data wipe and adding apps one by one..
Maybe you can look at the logs after your torchlight switches on..

I did a full reset and re installed cyanogen mod using clockwork mod. But the problem persists.
Im beginning to think it could be a hardware issue.. It stays on even if i just boot into recovery mode, or when the samsung logo appears on startup.
Is this possible?

[Q] Unlinking ringer and notification volume?

Hey guys, I just move to the M7 and T-Mo yesterday from Big Red...loving the One so far, but there's one thing that is really bothering me. These loud ass notifications lol...I've always wanted a loud phone, but damn this is crazy. Is there any working way to unlink the ringer and notification volumes? I've trieto search for the answer, but no luck. I've tried 3rd party apps, they don't seem to work. I'm running ViperOne 1.1.1 rom, and I don't see an option in there. Also Tasker doesn't seem to be working. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Not the best answer but I just went with a more subtle notification sound.
I use an app called a smart sound profiles. It is the only way I've been able to manage with the issue. Check it out

Did anyone get the mysterious wifi toggle after the update? I don't on mine, and I forgot to check my wife's phone before she left, but I'm sure its another thing Verizon added in the log, but didn't add to the device.
reads like a list of what we "blame" on our dev community.

Yes, I have it on my 32gb model.
I am not sure of this, but it is likely a factory reset could be needed to gain the WiFi toggle

That's very odd because they clearly state a toggle was added in the change log. .What if you click the edit button, does it show a wifi toggle in the toggle settings screen?
I have no toggle. I tried all the settings I could think of. Im stumped

I have it. I didn't upgrade tho I flashed the factory image.

can u provide the factory image. How did you flash it since were no longer rooted? through ODIN? does your wifi hotspot work without subscription check? Heard it works for those on data plans and not on unlimited
Something else I've noticed. I used to use floating notifications, but stopped due to the talkback bug. After the update, I installed FN just to give it another try, and the bug is gone.
Anyone else notice this?
Also, to the guy that asked, I have the wifi toggle and use the 16g version.
I updated (after numerous tries) with the Verizon BS software, and of course, don't have the toggle (its not really the end of the world that I don't), I just find it odd that others do, and others don't. I have the 16GB, and a few who say they have the toggle have stated they have the 32GB (that shouldn't make a difference anyhow). I guess if I get bored enough later, I'll wipe my device and see if it brings it back (just so those who don't have it, and *want* it, know how to *maybe* get it back).
I don't have the WiFi toggle either. Quick thought...
Those of you that don't have the Wi-Fi toggle. Did you rearrange the order?
Those of you that do have the toggle, were you still on the default order?
Might be something to it. I rearranged my toggles...

Looks like a bunch of useless garbage. Stay rooted my friends.

Just got off the phone with VZ about the Wi-Fi not being included in the notification bar as stated in the changelog. They tell me Samsung is aware and will update the update in September or we could try a factory reset which will resend the update. Just repeating what I was told.

I'm wanting to try themer but it won't work on my G2, keeps telling me it can't detect a supported screen resolution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hi, please make sure that your DPI/resolution/display settings have been set to default. It might be caused if you rooted your device and some display settings changed.

Hi.
If you are using a stock based ROM set the nav bar buttons to auto hide and it should work.

Stock ROM - Phone is always slow, it freezes sometimes. Any solution for this?

Hi,
I already installed a custom ROM in my S3 but after noticing that it was slow I unrooted and came back to the stock ROM. The problem is that the phone is always slow.
For example, when I turn wifi on, sometimes it takes 10 minutes to show me the emails and in general to show me all notifications that it has to show.
When I click the browser, it's also slow to show the keyboard for example.
This kind of behaviour is the same all over the phone.
My question is if someone knows what is going on and what can be done and if there's some way to know what's happening in the background. Maybe it's some app that I have installed?
Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.
Have you installed apps that control startups, wakelocks or claim to make your device run better?
If so, undo the lot.

Hi, thanks for your help.
I don't think I have those kind of apps but I uninstalled some that I have and noticed that the phone is faster. So maybe it was some app that was causing that.
It would be great to check the system itself, how it's running. Is there a way to do it?
System monitor or perfmon.
