Is it possible to flash an earlier firmware than is on my Edge?
I had 3 UK firmware, latest version. Probably 5.1.1 or similar.
I flashed the UK non branded Marshmallow firmware. I wasn't impressed so tried to flash the 3 UK firmware back but although Odin says it succeeded without problems, the phone just boots over and over.
So, I re-flashed the marshmallow UK firmware and it is working again.
I would like to return to the earlier 3 UK firmware if it is possible.
Can it be done or am I stuck with marshmallow?
I would say yes you are unless im mistaken

Oh well, I will have to get used to it until a 3 UK version of marshmallow is available.

Hi Guys
I have a SGSII, which I got in Hong Kong a couple of years ago. It came pre-installed with Stock Samsung Firmware ICS 4.0.3. I currently living in the UK and was wondering if I did a Firmware update using Kites, would it install you UK version of the firmware instead of the HK version?
If it's got the HK firmware/CSC on it, it will update to the latest for that region; where you are now is irrelevant, it reads the CSC info off the phone to determine what firmware to upgrade to, assuming there is a later firmware for that region.
But it's a moot point. Why would you use Kies for anything ? Flash whatever stock rom for whatever region you want with Odin.

To be honest, I am a noobie when it comes to the advanced aspects of android devices. So I've always followed the mantra of always following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. Also I don't want to loose all my user data for my game of Asphalt g
Ive flashed The latest stock firmware for the edge. Now i want to revert it back to my country brand official firmware. Still 5.1. But odin fails sw check. Whatt could be done?
I apologize if this is a stupid question since there are several threads about flashing different firmware.. Having not had a Samsung phone since S7 Edge, the process seems to have changed a bit. I bought a Verizon S9+ from a family member for cheap and I'm currently a subscriber on T-mobile. I'd like to flash over to the T-mobile firmware.
Current Baseband is G965USQU1ARB6
I believe this means that I'm on the v1 bootloader.
My understanding is I need to flash to the U1/unlocked firmware without a SIM and then flash to the T-mobile firmware after that. Correct?
Any rationale to picking a specific firmware since it appears there have been several updates since my current one? I assume once I get T-mobile on there I would get OTA updates via T-mobile from then on, correct?
Also, when I switch to T-mobile will I be able to get on the 600 Mhz Band 71 for T-mobile's LTE or are the radios actually different in the different carrier versions of the phone?
Thanks in advance for any help, and I'm sorry again if this is a stupid question - just having a hard time with the changes in firmware flashing that occurred after S8 came out apparently ://
The radios are identical between all U and U1 models, but the firmware isn't. You will find a Verizon phone won't work on TMB without flashing for several reasons (wrong APN which isn't editable, for one).
The latest U1 build is ARF4. That's also available as a U build for TMB. Flash to the U1 then to U. Use normal CSC so it will factory reset both times. You'll be golden.
If you want to be able to switch again, I recommend you block any updates TMB pushes once you're back on U, as newer U builds update the bootloader and you won't be able to flash back to U1 until it gets updated.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! I flashed the U1 firmware and used normal CSC to factory reset. Then I flashed the TMB one. When I boot up it still says Verizon and the software version says VZW/VZW/VZW still. Should I have inserted the TMB sim prior to the second flash? Did I hose myself now that I've flashed the latest version and its still VZW? Thanks

If you took TMBs newest OTA, you're screwed. You'll have to wait for an updated U1 build. No one knows when that may arrive.
I recently got an unlocked galaxy s9+ (sm-g965u1) and i like to at least have the latest firmware on hand incase i need to flash it. sammobile has multiple firmware files available to download. seem to be carrier specific. what would happen if i flashed one that says, say, AT&T? currently it has no carrier apps built in.

Far as I know it would just have the all the carrier specific apps and what ever little carrier additions the firmware has that the U1 firmware didn't. Granted I have the Sprint S9+ but if I go from the Sprint firmware, to U1 firmware and back to Sprint firmware and that's what happens.
Though what I have been using for the unlocked firmware is at the link below. If you download any of the supplied G965U1 firmwares from the tutorials on the forum it's the XAA firmware.

As Pie is being distributed, the UK are still waiting for their 'slice' of pie. I am on EE (T-Mobile) can I download another countries ROM? I did flash a different country ROM on my S7 years ago and it worked fine but just wondering if anyone has tried it with Pie?

I've flashed the German version (crl1) and working fine but I am on the international device (BTU) so you might need a different version? Sorry I can't be more sure!
If you can find the right version then research how to use Odin and download the software from Sammobile.
Last thing is when it is released in the UK, you will need fo ensure you flash back to a UK version to recieve OTA updates going forward
