How are are you cropping your screenshots? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

coming from the Note I used the S-pen to crop my screenshots which I used almost every day. The cropping software would always form a perfect box around the image you wanted to isolate. With the LG we get the very cool dedicated button for screen shots. How do you crop the picture so that the lines are perfectly straight around the borders and not the free hand type lines?

The stock Google Photos app allows for cropping with straight lines. I open the photo on Gallery, hit the pencil icon and get asked which app I want to use to edit it.
I've also used Snapseed and that has the same cropping capabilities.

This bothered me too. I save the whole screen shot to my gallery and then go into the gallery pic, tap the screen, tap the 3 dots on the top right and then tap crop. The Samsung way is definitely better and I hope LG implements that method.

With V10, you can use Capture+. You can select the portion you want to capture before saving or sharing it.

yes but when using Capture±
how do you crop it there with straight lines? when I click on crop button it only allows you to draw around the screen shot with curved lines. having to save it to a second app is fine for once but not ideal if you use screen shots a lot like I do. t

speaking about screenshots, does anyone else get a line at the very top of the screen, only in screenshots? I'm rooted w/xposed, gravity box/g4 tweaksbox and xstana. is this a phone issue, or something I've done? I seem to remember the change log for the 5.1.1 patch included something to do with this

It's in the market too but it won't display pics in 3d
I hate this problem too, a workaround is to open the camera app and click the preview box in the corner. That will allow you to view the most recently taken pictures first, and when you switch to grid view it will start at the bottom.
Did you know that, when scrolling through the photos, there is a function similar to what you get in the addressbook (People)? Once you start scrolling and the little scrubber/scroll bar appears, grab it and move it manually. It'll allow you to fly through the images in a second. As you're doing so, it'll even give you a pop up of the date of the photos where you'd be if you stopped scrolling. I hope that helps.
I think the other annoying thing I've seen in every Android phone (or not seen) is the ability to choose a folder before/as you're taking photos where it will save to. On top of this I don't like the HTC photo numbering scheme (image sequence) instead of time stamp as a name. I prefer the time stamp as you don't have to worry about duplicates, repeats, or conflicting names when moving and shuffling photos from phone to phone or computer for backup.

Tired of Gallery app cropping or messing up your beautiful wallpaper? if so Read this

actually you aren't stuck with this method. I have figured out a way to apply wallpapers like they're supposed to be with no loss in quality. applying through gallery or quick menu forces you to crop the picture resulting in the images you posted. check out my method.
go to marketplace and get a free app called picSpeed wallpapers. install it. it has high res. wallpapers and has its own proper way of applying wall papers. but any how go to the stock prime gallery app and choose your pic you want to apply as the wallpaper. press set as. then choose wallpaper. now, since you installed that app I mentioned, a pop up menu will show asking you which method do you want to use to apply the wallpaper. choose PicSpeed method. now it will allow you to apply the whole image without being forced to crop, having loss of quality, or looking zoomed up like crazy. Enjoy. as this method has been proven. also, only apply wallpaper through gallery app. don't do it through the quick menu where all the Widgets are at. if you do, then you will be forced to apply the wallpaper the gallery/stock method.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have an Archos tablet (the 70IT) that I have fought with trying to get a decent wallpaper on, and it's impossible. I'm going to give this a try and see if it works on that too.

no problem. hopefully works cross platform also. I guess the gallery way of doing it improperly is actually a honeycomb or tablet thing.
thanx! I was using the browser, now I won't need to go look for wallpapers I can just save them internally.

I haven't seen that one yet. ill probably check it out. as I love a great looking wallpaper n hate when it gets messed up or resolution gets distorted. I'm always downloading/saving great wallpapers that showcase the great display we have. Blacks look especially beautiful on this tab. the blacks are very deep.
I cant get this to work in ics. I never tried HC, but found this thread, but no luck here. backgrounds look awful

I'm still using it on ICS. Works perfect applying the wallpapers how they should be. Instead of stock gallery way software forcing you to crop. What exactly is the problem you having to say you can't get it to work?
It doesnt work in ICS. It doesnt properly crop the images I had to stop using it and just use the bubbles live wallpaper now for ICS.

Well, I goto the gallery, click on my image I want, goto Set picture as --> Set as wallpaper whcih is the middle option. Then it shows me the picture with 4 arrows, and a scrollable button, user original, rotate buttons and SET button.
I hit set...and it sets it as my wallpaper, but doesnt resize it. You can tell it easily distortes the entire image like it does originally without the app
THX m8 woorks great on ICS. Wallpapers in orginal size ..nice)

your best bet is to uninstall then install again. As youbcan see from poster above and me, it still works great in ICS. that's the only option I ever choose to apply my wallpapers now.
another tip also, which might be Also you're experiencing is this: if you get a wallpaper and apply it the way I said and the wallpaper is bigger than the middle box, use the one to the right instead. its custom and will stillbspply the whole image in its native quality. If the wallpaper is bigger then the middle box and you apply it like that, it will be zoomed up. If wallpaper fits box exactly, use middle one. If its larger, use the one to the right, the custom rectangle one. then hit set. works perfectly for me on ICS. try that
Does not seem to work for me as well.
For one I can only find the picspeed HD version (don't know if that matters at all).
any how go to the stock prime gallery app and choose your pic you want to apply as the wallpaper. press set as. then choose wallpaper. now, since you installed that app I mentioned, a pop up menu will show asking you which method do you want to use to apply the wallpaper. choose PicSpeed method.
From this point I have no option to select PicSpeed - only 2 other options.

Quit working in ICS for me as well. I used it on HC, and know it worked then. Following the same procedures, its still zooming in. Wiped data, still no go... too bad. Drives me nuts when it is zoomed in.

thing is more than likely after you choose pic speed option to apply, your wallpaper is bigger than the middle option that's default. to the right of it is another mode, custom, that will apply the whole image. Basically if you try to apply wallpaper thru picspeed option, the middle one should cover the whole pic. if it doesn't, and pic is larger than square with arrows, then choose the next one to the right that looks like a rectangle. that will cover the whole picture then press apply. it still working fine for me.

Works perfect !!!! the simple way to do it is just to open the gallery first, crop the one you want to be like 'wide', and than, make it "set as wallpaper"...Thanks!

Drawing on a picture you took

Hey guys, i know when you take a screenshot using the stylus it AUTO opens up and lets you draw on it..
What's the quickest way similar to that when you take a picture with the camera to just start drawing on that picture?
After I take a picture and i want to draw on it, i just click on the thumbnail in the bottom right, and that brings up the picture in the gallery. you can then long click the Spen to screenshot it and start drawing on it.
thats how I do it
If you're in gallery, click menu then more and then edit. Not sure if it works with other pic viewers.

From quickpic , touch the screen once on the desired picture to get the share option (the three dots connected by lines). Hit share and select "photo editor" from the options.
At this point you are at the same page that you would be at if you used gallery and did menu, more, edit.
Then just hit the tool option at the bottom right and select pen.
I'm running the ICS OnlyOne ROM, but I think the stock ROM will navigate about the same.

[Q] Using camera shots as Wallpapers

Why is it when you try to use a picture you have taken on the phone as a wallpaper it makes you crop it and then stretches it to make it fit the screen? Why doesn't it show just like you are looking at it? I have tried resizing with no luck. Any suggesstions?
Do u mean scrollable? Bc it has to stretch to fit the screen. Otherwise there would be black on the sides. Idk if picspeed wallpaper apk did it or it was there previously, but there's a custom option that doesn't mess with the pic size as much.
This picture for example. You see how at first the whole picture is displayed but the crop area only allows at the most, half the picture to be displayed.

Try downloading picspeed wallpapers. It gives u the options I have above. When u go to gallery>pic>more>set as>wallpaper it will show like mine were u can select the whole photo.
Works better than the stock wallpaper setting.

Wallpaper issues

So as we all know if you use your own images for wallpaper that the images turn out cropped and blurry. I was using Simple Image Wallpaper Free but a couple months back the application started to crash and not work prop. The app will no longer let me choose images from my gallery or SD card but instead only allows me to use images from a setup Google account which does not show all my images. When I do select an image it crashes every time.
So I'm now looking for a new app that will let me use my own images without cropping then to crap and making them look blurry as crap. I have tried Image to Wallpaper and I do not like it and it doesn't work that we'll.
Please help. I would love to make my own images for backgrounds. Thanks
QuickPic will do the job well. Its free on the play store.

Uh, no?
I've never had this issue as long as I've used an image with a suitably high resolution. Since the display resolution on the tablet is 2560x1600, I'd recommend using a source image at least that large. Preferably larger, since it will crop it a little by default to properly format it for both portrait and landscape orientations.

This is an issue and I think you need to take a look better. If you setup a 2560x1600 image for your wallpaper you will be pushed to crop the image. Now you easily make the image look clean and crisp by cropping the image to the size of the photo and it looks wonderful BUTTTTTT if you flip your tablet long ways you will see the image for the wallpaper does not cover the full screen and instead your left with a black top and bottom border cause you image doesn't fit.
Now,,,,,,,,, let's go back to choosing a wallpaper again and when we are left with the option to crop but instead we don't crop like before but instead we make sure our crop markers show horizontal and diagonal view so that the image for the wallpaper will be seen covering no matter what angle we are using the tablet,,,,,,,, well guess what?????? Now your image has been blurred and looks like crap.
I don't know how long you have had your tablet but I've had mi he since the day it was released in stores. When the tablet came out this was an issue everyone was b***hing about non stop but now one wants to help me here. I cannot even find the write ups and threads from this issue anymore. There were threads where others had the same issue but your telling me 136 stupid idiots can view my post and thread and ignore to help as if nothing is wrong or they don't care?
What a useless forum and group of people here. Thanks to the two who replied. But this is an issue that had been addressed by everyone in the beginning too. This was also an issue with the previous Note 10.1 and also the 2014 edition. Its by fault Android which makes you crop.
Again look...

Relax brother, android can be a bit of a crap shoot when it comes to stuff like this. Even on the same device, we're all running different roms/tweaks/dpi settings/etc. I can vouch that your issue affects my setup as well, but it may be different for some of the others here.
Seriously though, did quickpic work for you? If not I'll see if I can find something else that will since I can replicate the issue.

Thank you for recommending the app but unfortunately it didn't work. With images your given three options for wallpaper cropping which are photo, Google photos and Quickpic. Tried all three and same issue, it crops the images to the point your left with a blurry image.
Simple Image Wallpaper was the best and I miss having it work. No worry of cropping and worked in landscape and portrait mode.
Thanks for recommending Quickpic but still no fix.
Guess what? Good news got it working with Simple Image Wallpaper but had to download the pro version for 99 cents to get it to work. Happy again. I recommend anyone having this issue to download it. You can now choose a different image for landscape and portrait separate or keep it the same. Doesn't blur the image, doesn't crop the image and uses the whole photo. I use 2560x1600 images which is the display is and I get a 2560x1600 wallpaper.
