I have a Asus t100 I'm trying to install remix os on without a windows os. I used pmagic since I'm not that good at coding, I tried coping all the files from release_Remix_OS_for_PC_32-bit_Beta_Version_Package
to a new partition then when I try to boot from it my computer just goes straight to bios because theres nothing to boot. I also tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/how-to-install-remix-os-virtualbox-to-t3301160 with no luck can someone help me I just want remix os installed on this computer with no other OS
Asus T100 uses Intel Atom Z3740, a 64bit processor. So use the 64-bit version of Remix OS. The 64-bit version of Remix OS also has UEFI, which makes making the drive easier, and booting faster. Make the bootable USB as per instructions, and disable secure boot in your BIOS. You should then be able to boot from the USB.
it won't work. T100 has 64bit processor but a 32bit system

Ok I just did it so, here is how I did it. Use gparted, from gparted.org, booted up, partitioned, small 500MB FAT32 formated partition, second partition EXT4 the rest, 58GB+. Then took 32bit beta using JIDE's tool to put on a USB stick. Booted the stick and when it came up, entered e, to enter grub boot config. On the second line removed the part after and put INSTALL=1. Installed android to the larger partition, then installed grub, grub efi, formated, then rebooted. Side loaded google services from this forum and it works. Bugs, biggest issue is no audio. Let me know if you have any luck.

Ok so I'm new at this. I booted gparted and started with a unalloted partition and made 1 primary 500mb FAT32 and the second one EXT4 for 57gb then I shut it down put the 32 bit thumb drive in and hit e I saw the all the coding and this is where you lost me u said on the second line removed the part after and put INSTALL=1 did u mean removed PARTITION=1 and in INSTALL in its place? well I tried that and it booted up not sure if it installed to the thumb drive or hard drive the my remix folder says it has 592mb and my 2 Partition says it has 816mb and I have no clue how to install "grub, grub efi, formatted" I just want one Partition with Remix os running full hard drive space please help

From windows:
1) Dowmload and unpack RMX installer everywere you want (you will have a folder called RMX installer).
2) enter on RMX installer folder and execute the .EXE file.
3) Browse for the Remix OS .ISO file (use the 64 bits one, works like a charm for me )and choose the Data size (will create the data.img file).

OK but Asus t100 only uses 32bit which isn't a problem. And I don't have windows on it I have anot her computer that has windows on it but the Asus t100 has no OS at the moment I'm trying to install remix on it without installing windows so if the RMX Installer only works with a Windows installed then I have no use for it
Yes I'm having the same problem, with the new T100 that has both OS and CPU 64 bit.
The thing is, whatever you do grub won't detect either an external SD card or the keyboard dock's HDD as a boot option. They don't even show up in BIOS ! The only possibility seems to be booting from internal storage, which is too limited to dual boot Windows + Remix OS.
Anyone has tips for this ?

When installing Ubuntu on a Surface Pro I had to use a USB-keyboard as the BIOS didn't recognise the original one. If you have one laying around you should try.

Probably is a hardware compatibility issue. For example: I can boot Remix, without any problems, on my wife Acer laptop (Intel machine), but cannot on my Toshiba UFO (AMD machine). I try all possible methods for booting and installing, but without succses (editing GRUB kernel line with various parameters, resident - guest, installing on hdd on fat32, ext4 3 2, ntfs, installing as a copy/paste than adding entry to my GRUB, installing via Remix's installer than adding entry to my GRUB,...) I always got endless bootloop, just as you. Remix is alpha yet.

2. *Unix bootloader that runs on your device and can identify the extraction folder
3. Hope that at least your cpu/gpu are supported

Yeah I know that, my previous post was little sarcastic because of many people equals PC with Windows PC. I think a computer which runing Linux, is PC also. In that case you should to add Remix OS custom entry in /etc/grub.d/40_custom, because os-prober don't recognize Remix, Android x86 and similar. Sorry cause off topic :highfive:

I am having trouble with the new version of Remix OS 2 Beta.
I am running a 64 bit machine, and downloaded the correct version. I used the installation tool (not the original usb tool, but the one that allows you to install to the C drive) and it appeared that everything was installed correctly "BUT". When i boot i get the two options (Windows 10, Remix OS). I choose the Remix OS option, and it gives me an error (remixos/kernel error). So, i did some research and it says that the os might not recognize that i have a 64 bit machine. I then proceeded with the same installation but 32 bit this time since it should allow me to use that version if i have a 64 bit machine right? It allows me to boot, but then stays in limbo on the ASUS boot screen until i restart. any suggestions.
Have the same exact issue. Are you booting with legacy or efi

Are you talking about a USB in fat32 or a hard drive partition? Tried converting both to fat to no avail on an EFI system

Take the intrid.img from the Android x86 project of 5.1.1 and replace that on the usb before install. Worked for me. Rinning Beta 64bit now wheni could only run 32bit before.

Run it off the USB. When option comes for resident or guest hit tab and add to the line (or e for edit) INSTALL=1
I have a 64 bit machine and it installed fine. I don't think I had to change any setting from the installer. Wouldn't work with the alpha but the beta installed and booted right up. When it was installing there was like an 8 minute timeframe where it seemed it wasn't doing anything and my monitor (an hd tv) was getting no signal but I just let it keep running and finally it came back on and it booted right up. I installed to the harddrive also btw.
Thank you all for your feed back. I will try some of your suggestions in the morning. I didn't think I would get a response this fast haha. Thanks again for now.

I tried both ways and and with efi just got the kernel issue. It seems that everything installed correctly but when I choose remix OS it tries to boot and I get the remixos/kernel error
This sounds exactly the same issue than I have with Dell Venue 11 pro (7140). It has Windows 10 installed and secure boot is disabled in BIOS. I can select Remix OS in boot menu but then the following errors are displayed Remix OS doesn't start:
error: 'ntfs' is already loaded.
error: 'exfat' is already loaded.
error: no such device: /RemixOS/kernel.
error: file '/RemixOS/kernel' not found.
error: you need to load the kernel first.

Yes this is my issue exactly. I hope this is only a minor bug, because I realise we are still in beta and all devices won't work the same. Please is there anyone who can help us with this???

My Surface Pro 3 has this same issue no matter where I install Remix, kernel error.
I'm a dumbass, forgot to turn off secure boot.
Installed to hard disk, disabled secure boot and just boots straight into window 10, pathetic

I had this error, turned out Bitlocker was enabled and preventing the install from starting on restart.

If you would share some info with us, we might be able to provide a fix :
In Windows, open Run dialog. (Windows key pressed + r)
Type msinfo32 and enter.
You'll see a lot of information, please list the following :
1. System type
2. Processor
3. Bios mode
4. Platform Role
5. Secure boot state
6. Installed Physical Memory (Ram)
7. Total Physical Memory.
Also tell which version of beta you used. 32-bit or 64-bit?

Got the same problem. I don't get any errors, but currently I have Win10 32bit installed on NTFS harddrive Atom-based laptop. Downloaded and installed RemixOS BETA 64bit, rebooted and disabled secure boot, but when I choose RemixOS in boot manager it only boots into Windows. Any ideas?

You have as 64-bit capable CPU, as detailed on http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Atom-Z3736F-Tablet-SoC.122214.0.html
So 64-bit beta should work for you. Don't know why 32-bit UEFI systems have this issue.
However I'll inform you as soon as I update my Grub2Win guide.

i don't know if this does the job but there are 2 limitation of the original remix os installer: can only install on fat32 so data img is blocked at 4gb (this installer seems to be able to install on ntfs) and it doesn't recognized mixed uefi32-64bitcapable system and i hope this does the tricks, i'm trying it as i am one with these small laptops that has mixed stupid UEFI/ARCH

Hi, I just tried, hope it might help me with my stupid mixed arch 32bit uefi/64bit system laptop. the install process went well, on the partition of the internal drive i reserved for remix os, (D or gpt4, win is on C, gpt3) i see the files (data, initrd, kernel, ramdisk, RemixOS.boot, system, TRANS.TBL) but my computer still directly boot into winwin when i restart it... any idea? where are the efi files? especially the bootia32.efi, because i need to validate it from the uefi setup to let it boot . thanks
It seems like a big work from you, if i manage to make my remix install boot, i'll donate for your work. but right now it doesn't
to give you more info, i managed to make it boot from hdd on a fat32 partition, i had to ass the bootia32.efi file from efi/boot of remix os install to my trusted list, put that but file on the top bootable file and disabling secure boot. it started, but with fat32 i had only 4gb data.
what's missing to your installer that make my remix install not boot up?
where are the EFI, isolinux and .android_secure folders?
power up you laptop
at the first boot screen hit F12 or whatever your laptop boot menu key

Ok i found my mistake. I had to take the 64bit remix os. Up until now i have tried with the 32 bit version. I realized that editing the grub conf.
All works well as on usb stick. You can add that on acer switch you have to access efi setup and add the remix32.efi file to the trusted list then put it at the top of the boot list then disable secure boot.

The Vivotab is another 64bit CPU device in a 32efi env.. Created at 1st another volume next to Win10, give it disk letter to d:, let run the installer. Finally added keyboard, to be able to switch between Win and Remix. First run of RemOS needs some min. WIFI, on-screen keyboard and touch works fine, but NOT autorotate screen, GPS or the other sensors.

PS: Maybe y can change this installer that it is possible to install any Linux Distro on a 32bit UEFI machine, there is a big lack of 32bit UEFi compatible Linux.

Doesn`t work anymore
Unfortunately after several successful boots to RemOS, I am stuck now on grub menu with the messages

No chance anymore to boot into RemOS or Windows or BIOS! The connected keyboard via USB isnt recognized, so no chance to use cursor down to select Win-Partition or hit F2 to go into BIOS.
Maybe you add in grub menu loading additional driver that helps at least to support the touchscreen because the Vivotab is a tablet w/o keyb. And as additional fallback switch autom. to 2nd menu item in case 1st item isnt working.
Could be my fault, because I was able to switch into BIOS all the time, before(!) I (assume) enabled Fast-Boot

The Vivotab is another 64bit CPU device in a 32efi env.. Created at 1st another volume next to Win10, give it disk letter to d:, let run the installer. Finally added keyboard, to be able to switch between Win and Remix. First run of RemOS needs some min. WIFI, on-screen keyboard and touch works fine, but NOT autorotate screen, GPS or the other sensors.

PS: Maybe y can change this installer that it is possible to install any Linux Distro on a 32bit UEFI machine, there is a big lack of 32bit UEFi compatible Linux.

same tablet here can u tell me what version of remix os u used?
With this special installer it was only the latest Beta RemOS Uefi x64.
Take care to disable Fast Boot at first.

Currently not, it seems to be not possible to load BIOS first. I think it is caused by missing driver controlling the keyboard.
I assume it will be a case for the Asus Support.
well i'm not able to create another volume in disk management, i got 16gb free in my eMMc " C: " and when i try to shrink it it only allows me to shrink 400mb out of it... any ideas?

I assume no chance, that could be a bug in Beta, I had the same situation with the Asus Vivotab. Also in case Win was started it seems that its normally oriented in portrait mode on such a tablet.
WIFI and attached keyboard were recognized in my RemixOS session but none of the sensors, that one is needed for screen rotation.
Actually I don't understand the problem you're facing... Maybe I can help (maybe).

Thats fine, I was using mostly a wireless keyb from Logitech, that was always working fine in BIOS and boot menu of RemixOS etc.
My ASUS seems to be now in a endless boot loop (see my posting #12 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65793962&postcount=12 ) without any chance to go into BIOS or selecting the WIN entry in grub menu. The keyb isnt recognized anymore, maybe through FAST-Boot enabling afterwards as RemixOS was installed and running.
Also through a passiv or active USB hub with wired or wireless keyboard or a mouse isnt recognized in system anymore.
My idea is to install the Remix OS on a USB stick or a SD card, so i can use it on PC and on my Tablet.
Is that possible? Or are the versions very different?
My Tablet is the Chuwi HI8 with dual os, but i want a thrid OS, which could be booted by USB oder SD Card.
I tried a little, but can you tell me how to start from USB oder SD Card? Is it only possible to start from BIOS or is there any other solution?
Or is it even possible to boot from Chuwi HI8 tablet on sd card? I know that there is OTG function, but i dont know if it is possible to boot from SD card.
The same on PC, do i have to start from BIOS or are there settings to from a operating system like Windows 10?

Two ways, 1. You can add an entry to windows bootloader
2. Use EasyUEFI, which you can use to change the boot order like you would in BIOS/UEFI.
Booting from sdcard woukd be conditional on the device; from usb should be fine. My i7 stylus for example won't boot from sdcard.
All that being said the hi8 is baytrail right? I think support and drivers for baytrail isn't 100% with Androidx86/RemixOS

Personally it's easier just using EasyUefi especially with a usb install, and yea 1 usb should work on both, but what hardware works will depend on support for it...

EasyUEFI it's a windows exe to change boot order etc. so you don't have to go into bios.

32bit should work on both. I guess your PC is using legacy bios; so EasyBCD might be what you need. But I don't know too much about legacy bios.
Yes you are right. it is a legacy bios.
But i switched the boot options, so it will boot from usb at first. So perfect for me. If USB is in it will boot Remix OS, if not, Windows.

Yes there's an OTA update that works as long as you don't alter system.img, initrd.img, ramdisk.img and kernel.
I dont know if you know anything about Chuwi HI8, but du you know how to boot from USB?

Ok once it has worked, but when i open the program easyuefi again, the boot options are the same as in the beginning. Is there a option to save the boot settings?

I think I know what you mean...
i.e. when you remove the usb it gets taken of the list and re-added to the bottom?
I don't think UEFI keeps the device if it's removed; I had the same issue, unfortunately no real way around it.
There is a sort of workaround; but takes a bit of work. i.e. install grub onto tablet harddrive and have that as primary bootloader

My thinking was something like copying the attached to C:/efi/... ; rebooting and checking EasyUEFI picks up the .efi's. One of which should load fine.
It should boot RemixOS if usb is installed and fallback to Windows if it isn't.
You will probably have to change the path= in grub.cfg or remove it. Depending on how your usb is setup...
I have a few PCs and Laptops with no OS currently installed plus the HD has limited space so I don't want to waste time and HD space by first installing Windows or Linux and then installing Remix in dual-boot configuration.
There should be a way to install Remix OS on PC with Fresh/Clean Install in Single Boot Configuration

Burn ISO with any tool, the boot to resident mode, before selecting Resident Mode press TAB and delete (SRC= DATA=) to end, then type INSTALL=1

I have a ASUS T100 tablet PC and it has a x86 uefi bootloader. im trying to install remixOS as a standalone OS. after I do your instructions do you need to edit the grub file so it boots (not sure how to do this) and which OS should I use 32 bit or 64 bit? last time I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...nt/winapp-android-x86-installer-uefi-t3225748 to install the 64 bit version on my tablet but the new 3.0 OS doesn't work with this tool.

Thanks for the info, I tried this and it installed and booted from the installer menu however when I reboot the PC I find that the Android-x86 installer fails to create a boot partition.
I tried all possible combinations, Grub without EFI, Grub with EFI, both varitions on MBR and GPT, etc. nothing works. Even tried x86 and x64 installations

Try hitting tab
then the spacebar, then put INSTALL=1 press enter it will bring up Android X86 installer for you to format the hard drive and install on to it. This will allow it to boot without the USB drive
When I hit TAB, nothing happens. ;-/
