Thanks to Chainfire, I am just sharing

So... If I'm on stock N (stock system, stock boot.img, stock recovery, etc.), would the easiest way be to just flash the latest TWRP and then flash the SuperSU zip? Just want to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly

Yes :good:
But, in case you have forced encryption, and the package doesn't flash, you can feel free to use the CF-Auto-Root package.

So I can use TWRP to roll back to my Marshmallow I'm currently on using the restore function if N doesn't cut it for me? Would I have problems with encryption or userdata by restoring (assuming I've backed up everything)?

What are you guys using for modified boot img to disable forced encryption? Thanks.

Works for me on my 6P after trying the phh SuperUser method for the past few days. It doesn't appear to mount /system as r/w though

If forced encryption is disabled on Android N, it would stick if you flash a custom ROM.

Root is working fine. Have TWRP booting fine and installed kylo kernel. All I need is xposed and I'll be super happy with this preview! ?

Anyone come across a file explorer that can mount System R/W? I'm using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx&hl=en with SuperSU 2.69 and it's not able to even though the app itself does have root access.

Try Solid Explorer, it was working when I was on N: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer2&hl=en
I think Root Browser works too, at least I remember reading that somewhere.

Lol. You're right. I didn't notice that almost all of the functions of a recovery are not working. In fact, being unable to restore a back up makes this a zip installer since it can't recover anything.
This is either poorly worded or deliberately misleading.

If you can't restore a backup, how can you flash a zip? It's cool that you're working on it, I'm just curious what the real world use is. Most people use custom recoveries to...flash zips and make and restore backups.

The link in the file is not working. Also, can I install a normal zip file? For example, you need to install a zip file from recovery to use remote play functionality on the ps4. Can this recovery do that?
Is it possible to get an alternative link since this one isn't working?

Its works for d850 i already tried it but like others said you cant restore backup

Found it does not work for LS990. It installs something but reboot recovery causes black screen. If anyone has that i fixed it by booting to stock recovery (vol down & power, release, vol down) and factory resetting (which did not erase data)

[root] T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 T337

Confirmed working root method made by chainfire.
OS Version: 4.4.2
Build:KOT49H.T337TUVU1ANF4
Model: SM-T337T
Kernel:3.4.0 date-jun 18
Download: http://download.chainfire.eu/462/CF-...mo-smt337t.zip
Instructions: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
This did trigger KNOX however SuperSU disabled it.
Towelroot does the same for the 337a without tripping knox bit. Did it not work for the 337t?

No, unfortunately once knox is tripped, it can't be reset. I'm pretty sure the 337 a and t are identical except for bloat and frequencies and I just used towelroot on mine today. Mines the a

I went into SuperSU after I rooted my SM-T330NU with CF-Auto-Root and it asked me if I wanted to disable knox - I said yes and it disabled it. I also installed Wanam Xposed and used the Security Hacks feature and Faked the system status to be set to "Official". I also deleted several of the knox system apps with Rom Toolbox Pro and it works great. I can still get OTA update from Samsung and no knox messages and knox is not tripped.
when t-mobile tab 4 was released it had a newer baseband n kernel than the other tab 4 devices, thats why towelroot doesn't work on it.
this was discuss in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/help/sm-t337t-looking-root-method-t2853724
Does this method alow install custom recovery on t330nu?
I used towelroot and got root access but no luck with a custom recovery such as cwm or twrp would this help or is there any way for custom recovery on t330nu?

I'm not aware of any recovery for any of the 8" Tab 4 models.
If you root and an recovery becomes available (someone needs to make it) you should be able to install it.

We have a few developers looking into it. We have distributed some necessary files for the device. Just need to be patient and work together. All is in motion as for a few days ago nothing was really in motion.
Everyone should stay positive, patient and in due time we should all be happy. All thanks and recognition will be made known upon completion. Thanks to everyone helping out great work so far.

Kernel ROOT in 5.1.1 - Selinux Permissive - FOR N910F

THIS kernel is for N910F
here's a kernel, compiled from N910F sources XXU1COI3, with XXU1COI3 Ramdisk
It has a single modification, in order to boot the 910F with root, in new firmware 5.1.1.
Everything else is a stock kernel.
Fixed the warning "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" on boot
my advice is, flash this kernel, and next, root your phone with your preferred method
enjoy:
Mod edit: No longer supported, link removed.
flash it in recovery

Best thing to do seems to be flashing latest TWRP, flash the kernel within TWRP and use the root option that TWRP offers.

- Flash within TWRP the Kernel (ZIP) posted in this thread
- Restart TWRP and will ask you to install SuperSU, install it
- After restart run SuperSU, will ask to update SuperSU from market, install, update binaries

The N5X version of this update was released yesterday had some performance improvements and more: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...emp-option-performance-improvements-and-more/
A reddit user named GoogleNexusCM, who claims to be the Nexus product forum manager posted this the 6P subreddit
I want to let you all know that an OTA update will begin rolling out today for the 6P. We value and listen to your feedback, and this update includes a number of bug fixes that will improve overall stability and performance on the Nexus 6P.

The fixes for this build are similar to the ones I mentioned for the 5X. Some of the fixes will help with/address:
General device performance
DND next alarm disappearing issue
Carrier-specific bug fixes
Connectivity improvements
I also should mention that the builds mentioned on the developers site are carrier specific, with the majority of carriers worldwide being on MHC19I (5X equivalent - MHC19J).

Hey, I noticed some weird stuff when I started playing around a bit after flashing back to MMB29V. (developer options wouldn't work, quick settings wouldn't come down from the dropdown). And yes, I was on MMB29V when I flashed MHC19I.
Now that I can get into TWRP, I can at least restore my backup. It will complain that system is mounted as Read Only. Just go to "Mount" in TWRP and uncheck the "mount system in Read Only" checkbox and Put a checkmark next to "System" in the list of partitions to mount. My nandroid is restoring right now. I'll update when it is complete.
EDIT: Nandroid restored and all is good again!

I've been working on creating the basic device tree needed to get the latest TWRP built for our Honor 7s and most importantly, accepted as an official TWRP recovery.
Edit: We're now official! Download from the TWRP website.
Test updated version:

Being officially supported by TWRP means that future recovery versions will be automatically built (and you'll be able to install using their tool from the Play Store), so it's worthwhile effort getting to this point.
Flash in the usual way, using 'fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-plank-test.img' and let me know how you get on. Cheers!

I've seen that on a bunch of devices actually. Wonder if it's related to the 'secure wiping'...

well done
you lot are excellent!
by the way, what is the difference between yours and @jemmini twrp3?
Post
also, when is it going to become official TWRP?
any bugs?
thanks a lot and keep the good work coming!
I imagine they will be basically the same.
It should become official TWRP as soon as a feature we need merged in is actioned and my work is OK'd. Hopefully not too long.
The Gerrit change (to fix a problem with the touchscreen when recovery first boots) that we need is here - https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/17768/.

Thanks!

Tested on B180 Lollipop, wiped cache and dalvik, used rm -rf instead of formatting option and very quick wiping. Made a back-up and one error report about being ''unable to locate 3rmodem partition for backup calculation'', but I think we just probably don't have this partition on our phone?
This version also remembered all my settings, time zone, timeouts etc from previous TWRP version.
All seems good so far.
