Looking to buy a moto e but want to use a different carrier. I've been reading around and it looks like that a good handful of prepaid verzion phones are locked but I can't find an official list. Anyone know? If they are locked is it hard to unlock it?

I just purchased a prepaid Moto E that I may try putting on my post paid Verizon plan (I need a tethering phone). The model is XT1528, and the forum doesn't seem to have any info on this exact model, but I'm guessing is the same as the postpaid Verizon version, only with different software. Has anyone else rooted or flashed a custom rom to one of these?
Never mind, this thread can be locked. My model is the 2nd generation, while this forum covers the first generation.
Hello. I'm looking at one of these for my in-laws. We were goign to buy the straighttalk wireless version of this phone and then they wanted to take it when they went home overseas. Is this phone carrier locked? If it is, can it be unlocked?
Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a Sprint pre-paid Moto E so I can take it with me on my trip to Europe...as I understood what I read on another forum ,I should be able just to pop in a sim from Europe to use in Europe.....is this correct? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you so much in advance,
Hey all,
I noticed that the moto z was a Verizon exclusive unless you bought the gsm unlocked version from Motorola. As for the Verizon version, if it's unlocked but still a Verizon phone would it work with TPO (the people's operator)? I believe TPO is an umbrella of T-Mobile. I read from multiple places that it depends on the phone to see whether or not a Verizon unlocked will work on another carrier. Some eBay listings I've seen have said Verizon models will work with others while others said it wouldn't. I haven't been to find any moto z specific info regarding this on the internet. If someone could give me some insight that would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The problem which you face there is with the LTE bands. Now a days GSM and 3G bands are standard and most phones support all the 3G and 2G bands for universal use. But the same is not the case for LTE bands. The Verizon unit may not have the LTE bands needed for T-Mobile and other US GSM carriers so you will be better off buying the unlocked version.
Tried looking for answers but I haven't found one for the US Cellular variant.
Just want to make sure before buying one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MIFS9QC
So If anyone can confirm thanks.
