There is already an existing Android Wear port for the Samsung Galaxy Gear S which it seems has been overlooked. Basically it looks like DeejayBaca from xda started an alpha port of Android Wear running on the Galaxy Gear Live, and didn't seem to follow through on the project. I Would like to make people aware of this, post bugs, and continue development on the port (I think porting Android Wear to the Gear S will improve the functionality, versus the CM android port which seems to aim to use the Gear S as a tiny smartphone replacement). Below is the link to the alpha port:
GearS_Android_Wear_LCA43.zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?u9a1tr1t1862232
I created a new thread for this so that an Android Wear port will get more attention, as I had to dig through many posts in the "[DEV] Gear S: Android Port" to find this very valuable working alpha version of Android Wear for the Gear S.
After flashing and running the above Android Wear alpha release for the Samsung Gear S, here is some initial feedback:
What works:
- Bluetooth pairing
- Setup / syncing with the Android Wear application with an Android device
- adb over usb/bluetooth working
- Displaying WIFI access points
- Navigating through various Android Wear screens
- Heartrate monitor
Current problems with alpha:
- Random crashes of setup wizard app while pairing with Gear S
- Intermittent crashes with "Android Wear" app while using smartwatch
- Occasional crashes every once in a while while using smartwatch causing reboot
- Crashing of "Settings" app occasionally when attempting to change settings
- most other installed Android Wear apps crash after some time is spent using them
- 2g/3g SIM cellar access doesn't work at all
It seems like this alpha is about 80% done, the main work which needs to be completed for it to be a fully functional port is to fix all of the app crashes which happen occasionally.
Hello, there is a version of Android Wear in the post of biktor_gj with Android CM12 port. Is there any link between both?
I didn't start the alpha version, bictor did I just shared his hard work. :what:
Sent from my SM-A710F using XDA Free mobile app
OK so this is not last version (ni bluetooth sync) but old one? Many crash for me. :/
Has there been any more updates to this ROM? where is the original post for this ROM from DeejayBaca?
Please don't post other members work without their permission, and use the threads that exist already.

Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on some atrix roms have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, be sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme
The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.
Screens:
SwitchMe 1.2 has been rolled out and now includes a lockscreen replacement:
1.2
Added lock screen for logging in and out
More stable Fast switch implementation
Reworked UI colors
Now, its very important that we get some feedback on how this big new feature works, so please read up on it in the help and post your thoughts!
1.2.2 - HOTFIX 2
Reworked widget on qHD+ displays
Fixed widget text on HC and ICS
Fast switch improved on older devices
Installed and my volume in my speaker is so low I couldnt by tell if the phone connected . Also using a bluetooth headset it has static. Uninstalled back to normal volumes and headset works .love the software hope there is a fix for this.
Are you sure its an error? Because there may have been software responsible for your volume that was updated or not originally present in the original rom...
Even when using it on the first slot setup it had no volume and that was untouched before and after the install
Please do the following:
install app
clone profile
switch profile
send logs - be sure to mention your xda name in the description!
Thanks in advance.
Problem fixed with reinstall now works as advertised.
I reinstalled the most rebooted before anything else. Created clone booted into it and all is good very nice setup already bought key and rolling 3 profiles
Thanks, enjoy!

Nice app, working good running jokersax's ICS rom on my Atrix.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yes, the app works well on this device!
1.4.3.7
Fixed device specific switch screen crashes and issues
Fixed UI bug in switch screen preferences
If anyohe had problems with superuser before, this should fix them. Please let me know if that is the case, its important we get some feedback here!
1.5.3.0
Enabled full support for MIPS and x86 architectures
Many root daemon code fixes and optimizations implemented
Anything to report regarding yesterday's release?
For me IRS great thx.
Thats great. Enjoy.
1.5.3.8
Fixed issue switching profiles (One X and others)
Fixed rare crash on adding/ removing profiles
Fixed many device specific issues from user logs
I can confirm it works brilliant.
I'm using free version which is at the moment sufficient. One profile is for me, office apps, various productivity apps.. anything I'd use. The other profile is for my 3 yo kid full of games appropriate to his age, and no connectivity, just to make sure no accidental purchases are made.
Thanks to developers for this wonderful app.
The best thanks is a nice review on the market.

Hello I am SferaDev!
About me:
Well I am a young developer of only 17 years, I love the Android world and expanded universe of Star Wars. I started programming with JAVA three years ago, then I played some Metro and web and finally I been charmed by the Android experience.
My Android Apps:
My first application was published here on XDA a Task Manager with Holo interface, which bear multiple tasks.
Then, I developed my first "big application" whose development is still in progress and has been LAIA: Learn Android in Android. This app has been a source of review on the XDA portal and has more than 2,000 active downloads at Google Play.
After an afternoon with some friends, occurred to me DateUp. That allows quickly contact friends and propose a plan via Whatsapp.
When testing the library to create random objects and use databases, I developed an application called Random Option.
Recently, I created a utility for root users at 4.2 with a phone that has no multi-user support. The application is called Multiple users feature enabler.
Also I've made my own launcher called Dummy Launcher, designed for kids and old people but honestly it doesn't appeal to XDA users.
What I'm working on, now:
I am working with Paranoid Android team at the moment. I also maintain (unofficially right now) Omni for my device and I work with Illusion Rom when I have time. A detailed list of my ROM work on xda could be (Till JB 4.3 as KK is not stable atm):
Paranoid Android for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with HALO 2.0, App Privacy and a bunch of new features!
Illusion for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with tons of features!
Omni for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with a pure AOSP feeling!
XDA RD Petition:
I made some months ago a request to be a Recognized Developer here on XDA, but they have decline it. The reason it's that I have to improve my work on XDA. So I have been working at XDA till now and I have reapplied to the RD program.
RK29 Tabs
As I own a RK29 tab I've been involved in testing and adapting rooting methods for them in ICS and also posting official updates here in XDA.
I have stopped development on this device due hardware issues with mine.
Thank you for reading and if you wanna support my freely work use the Thanks button and/or the donate to me button!
See you!
Q&A for Samsung Gear Fit SDK Available
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Samsung Gear Fit SDK Available. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

I can't find anything in the samsung CUP documentation provided in your cup library download you gave us , or in the official documentation about how to add vibration as a property to the alert, or notification, or how to "officially" use the android CUP stuff to cause say, a custom alarm.
Say if I wanted to create a customizable alarm app that is compatible with CUP and the gear fit for instance, and I want to send a vibration (type) of notification to the gear fit which causes it to vibrate for a long period of time..
(without stopping) until say a menu item is pressed on the fit.
How would I do that?
Is such a thing possible for third party developers? Please help me.
THanks.
raw sensors from samsung gear fit
is it possible to get raw 3D accelerometer and gyroscope signals from samsung gear fit ?
if so how ?
Any possibility to add vertical aka portrait mode?
Dear zwegnet,
First of all thank you so much for your effort to enable Gear Fit development by providing CUP SDK.
It seems 1.0 version of SDK was developed when portrait mode was not available on Gear Fit as it was added in some of FW updates. Thus, ScupDialog seems not to have any method to turn the picture or get current screen orientation.
Of course, maybe protocol itself does not have the command for this, but I expect there can be some way embedded into the protocol.
Is there any chance to investigate that and make new version of CUP SDK with screen orientation feature detection/change enabled?
Problem with App Connect
Hello,
First of all thanks for that API, but I got one problem with it. When I use my gear fit app connect to run application it's doesn't provide any information that the application has been launched with the gear fit, it would be better if I could create a Listener or something like that because now when I use app connect it's run my application on phone and I don't know who started running the application, user on the phone or on the gear fit, if it goes from gear fit I would like to create Dialog on it, but when it's from phone I would like to only resume application, but didn't show anything on the clock, so use method onResume is not possible.
If you know how to solve this problem I would be very grateful.
How to run the app.
Hi,
I have made the app as per your given example. I have s3 (android version ) and gear fit. I have connected my gear fit with android.
After installing the apk in my phone, when I open it , it is throwing error "unforthunately fitapp has stopped".
Do i need some type of settings in my gear fit or s3?
Trouble with Gear Fit CUP SDK Example
I grabbed the example App "CUP_SDK_SAMSUNGINTERNAL.zip" from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-fit/development/samsung-gear-fit-sdk-available-t2872803
When I open the example in Android Studio as an Android Studio project it creates a Gradle App is that what it is supposed to do? If so is there a way to run an Android app like that? There are no android packages visible.
how start the apps in gear fit manager?
Once created the app in eclipse and installed the apk in the phone, how to start it in gear fit? just connect to gear fit and start the app?
Thanks for the sdk!!!
CUP SDK Samsung Gear Fit
On the Gear Fit, Is there a way to listen broadcasts associated with the GEAR FIT power button. I would like to tie an event to multiple button presses just like the emergency messaging "SAFETY ASSISTANCE Send help messages"?
Hi,
would it be possible to get the raw accelerometer data from the gear fit whit that?
Thanks,

Hi
No, it's not posible. Samsung CUP is only for creating user interface of Gear Fit Apps.
At this time only Samsung apps (S-Health, Fitness, ..?) have access to device sensors.
Getting IllegalStateException
Hi there,
I came across this Thread and would like to try writing an app for my gear fit. But when I use the sample Code in the Documentation, the only thing i get is an IllegalStateException: Scup is not initialized
Code:
04-01 15:00:52.748 29498-29498/de.chrosey.gearfitone E/AndroidRuntime﹕ FATAL EXCEPTION: main
Process: de.chrosey.gearfitone, PID: 29498

at de.chrosey.gearfitone.cup.HelloCupDialog.<init>(HelloCupDialog.java:15)
at de.chrosey.gearfitone.MainActivity$1.onItemClick(MainActivity.java:39)
...
I tried using the suggested
Code:
<uses-permission android:name="com.samsung.android.providers.context.permission.WRITE_USE_APP_FEATURE_SURVEY" />
but it didn't help.
I am testing on s4 lollipop stock Rom.
Can Somebody help me?
Lollipop compatibility
Is there any compatibility with Android 5.0 and newest version of Gear Fit Manager? Because i've got this error: java.net.BindException: cannot bind service and don't know what to do
Thanks

Help with sensors in gear fit CUP
Hi everybody!
I have just installed Android Studio and I tried to make a wearable application using CUP's library.
Thanks to some guides I attempted it, but I have no idea about how I can collect data from Gear Fit's sensors, especially the heart rate.
Thanks!!
It is not possible to direct access to sensor data. The only way to get that information is through S Health service.
I have moaned in the past about the rapid pace of Android OS development, and the usual implication of buying a new phone is you forced to upgrade android, but going from Android 6 to 8, looks like its going to be brutal for me, and hard decisions to be made.
On my old S7 phone running Android6, I have the following working reasonably well.
Xposed
Instagram made useable by xposed (app without it is horrible)
Same with snapchat
Various privacy enhancements thanks to xposed
Anag app works perfectly.
Apps mostly honour auto sync setting
However titanium backup only barely functions, it seems it only works properly with supersu which is considered obsolete these days, this app last worked properly on my s5.
Using android 9, there is no xposed at all, to me having no xposed on android is like going out in the street naked.
Using android 8, xposed is in beta, initially it seemed stable, but I have noticed the contacts app goes crazy and unstable as well as phone app after 2-3 days uptime if xposed is enabled on phone.
Some xposed modules have become abandonware and no longer work on Android 8
Some apps including Anag which has no alternative app have become abandonware and dont work properly or at all on Android 8.
Auto sync is disabled on the phone yet I keep getting notifications from apps, related to background sync activity they are doing, e.g. dominoes apps downloads an advert, and sends me a notification asking me if I am hungry to order some pizzas (never ever seen it do this on android 6), various other apps having similar type behaviours, just 10 mins ago backgrounds hd sent me a notification to inform me its downloaded new backgrounds, how has it done this when I havent gave it permission to background sync? ,either the auto sync setting is broken or there is some new feature in newer android that allows apps to spam you. I suspect its the latter, as I think even with auto sync enabled on android 6 I wasnt getting all this app spam.
The problem is this, new phone hardware is nice, my newest phone is lightning fast compared to my s7. But ultimately its the software that makes the phone. Sadly there is no Android 6 for the oneplus6, I dont expect much sympathy on the XDA community as the majority of people here seem happy to always jump on the latest builds of android without a second thought, often beta/alpha builds to boot. But felt like I needed to rant.
I dont know what I am going to do moving forward, I will probably test OOS 8.x, just to rule out custom rom issues, and if issues persist I can forsee myself selling the phone and buying an older model that still is faster (but wont be as fast) just so I can run android 6. I wonder if anyone else has ever deliberately avoided latest model phones to keep old android.
Its becoming evident to me, that many developers cannot keep up with the pace of android updates, so we get this happening, apps becoming abandonware, and users like myself either have to find replacement apps or accept to lose features on their phone. I wonder if IOS has these issues or if that has full backward compatibility that keeps old apps working. I wouldnt be unhappy if e.g. new android major releases were every 2 years with 5 years security support for each release as well. But a sane software support policy goes against google's policies.
Its kind of interesting as we have many news articles about the problem of android fragmentation as such, and often these articles blame everyone except google, they blame end users, they blame phone manufacturers, and they blame mobile carriers, but they never consider the problem might be google simply releasing new versions of android too rapidly.

There are DIRECTV apks going back to 2016 that you can sideload and use especially when:
-- Crashing.
-- Won’t open.
-- Won’t respond.
-- Isn’t working properly.
-- Discontinued.
Not to mention that new updates may have many bugs that you may not be comfortable with. Developers tend to keep their apps updated with the latest version of Android. So, if you have an old or even new Android version, the new interface and features compatible with new Android version may break the app.
Your device hardware may not be compatible with the updated version of the app.
You may not like the newly added features or the interface overhaul.
Your favorite feature may get removed for any reason.
The updated version may get filled with ads.
