I'm having a problem with my 8GB sandisk card. My Htc Legend keeps giving me a pop up in the notification blind that says SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem. I've done some searching on google and notice people are having this problem with their Desires and other various android devices.
However I haven't come across a fix. I noticed one Legend owner had it occur after a restore of data from sd card. I'm having a feeling this happened to me as well since I got the OTA firmware upgrade yesterday. And I'm having the problem with the sd card today and I had the option to save date to sd. Today I unchecked it since I started using another card and I'm afraid of that one getting ruined.
Is there a way to fix my other card as I don't want to just throw away a perfectly fine 8GB card.
I've tried reformating in phone and pc. Have tried it in other phones. PC doesn't read it. Blackberry 8900 will not boot with it inserted and freezes if inserted after boot. myTouch 3G slide gives the same error. And does nothing when formatting.
i had this when i first got my new sd card and the phone basically to get it working i just went into the phone and formatted it via the android os then it mounted fine settings > storage > format (you may have to unmount first if it is still mounted )

I've tried this numerous times and it does not do anything. Does not show the option to unmount.
Hi all,
I guess my problem is very similar. Using an DHD with a 8 GB SD Card...
I did a factory restore including to wipe all data on SD card.
the DHD was rebooting and now I get the message Blank SD Card - SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem. in the notification bar.
is there any App I can restore my SD card? made full backup so ****ting on data just wana bring it back working.
Card gets not mounted... when I hit the message in notification bar it ask me to format card - I did multiple times with no success.
Anyone knows how to restore the card? Hope it's not gone for ever :-(
Thanks for help
same problem here, i guess a new sd card is due
Following I found out regarding the issue"SD card Blank/unsuported filesystem":
Just read my update here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11353140
there are 2 ways to fix this (one of them I can confirm restored the filesystem on my SD card)
Kind Regards,
Der Matte
PS.: thanks @ GOOGLE
PS.PS.: maybe a mod can merge the threads as I think this is a general problem with HTC phones

The sd card usually goes to raw format. Raw format supported software can help you extract the files and then you can use the full format option in windows 7, quick format checkbox unchecked.

Hi,
I got my Optimus one not long ago and I bought kingston 8G for it though it would work fine. The phone read the card well and show the memory correct and I can use it pretty good on my phone. The thing later I found out is the phone itself restart after the idle time exceed 1hr which is crazy. The phone works really good until I upgrade my original sd card (samsung 2G which came in with) to Kingston microsd 8G. I don't know where exactly is wrong, and I couldn't return the sd card either since it work fine on both phone and on computer with card reader. If someone got same problem with me, please let me know or help me out!! Thanks in advance.
I think it is a firmware problem,Mine and others do the same with the standart 2G card...
Firmware keeps updating itself when I go on WIFI connection. I don't know about these stuffs either. But now, the problems are ended..the phone doesn't read any card anymore whether 2G or 8G, it keeps saying that "sd card removed. Insert a new one". I've tried restart again & again but the message doesn't go away and my phone decide not to recognize the card. Both of the cards work fine on computer. I think I need to visit the shop where I bought to check on it. Btw, is that problem considered in the warranty case? I don't know.. It wasn't even a month with me. So sad!

Are you using any app2sd ? If yes, it could be a problem also if ur using an app storing data on your SD card. It makes you're cell restart.
I have the "mount / unmount" problem on my LG, I saw on a french forum that it was better to try with another file system, sometimes it was solving, sometimes not. I don't think it's really a card problem, I gave my LG GW620's sd to my girlfrend and her old samsung is using it without any problem's, but on mine it was crashing every 30mins....

I have the same problem but more problem when my LG O1 didn't recognize the card and I couldn't mount or format the card on my phone.
This happened when I partitioned the card. My PC still sees the card well but my phone doesn't.
I read a lot of posts from a lot of forums and I did try every guides steps by steps but it seemed as the LG O1 doesn't have any button-press-combination as others. For ex: when I pressed Back + Power On, nothing happened as It was said that the phone might come to FastBoot.
As help on this issue will be in much appreciated.
I fixed it. If your PC still recognizes the sd card, it's ok. Go to Manage (right click on My Computer) -> Device Management -> Storage -> you should see your card there. Try to delete volumn or format the EXT2 and Linux Swap.
Put the card back to your phone. It should recognize the card and then, unmount and format card and mount it back. Done.
I have a small question. What is the best class for this phone? The class 10 is fully used by phone or does not reach that read/write speed? Some micro sd class 10 are declared between 20 and 30 MB/S. The p500 has these capabilities? Or a Class 6 card is enough?
Thanks
UP!
The price for 32GB class 6 is very different from class 10.
Lg Optimus One is able to full use write/read speed of class 10?
Thanks
Help! I inserted a sandisk 4gb class 4 and my phone didn't recognized it (i got the 'SD card removed. Insert a new one.' notification). Then, i inserted back the original 2gb sd card from the box, but that notification is still there and it can't be recognized. But both my PC and a another android device (a galaxy tab) can detect it. So, i tried formatting both the 4gb and the original 2gb with the galaxy tab and inserted it to my O1 but nothing has changed. I tried updating to the official V10E firmware but it makes no diffrences. Any help please?

For future, don't remove SD card during phone is running because of app moved to SD card. Especially when you plan insert new one, and if you do that with custom ROM with app2sd its equivalent to suicide.
Is mass storage mode works? Is MS works in curstom recovery? Did you try format memory card in phone? Delete of caches?

Thx for the reply,
I haven't install a custom ROM yet. All i did was enable JIT+HW accel from a thread here.
1. Mass storage didn't work. It just appears as a new drive which i can't access.
2. I updated my O1 to V10E... I lost root, custom recovery,etc. so i can't try that
3. I formated it with another android device (a galaxy tab)
4. How do you delete the caches???? Sorry, new here
You had got me. For now I have not idea how to proceed.
Anyway, remove battery, remove SD card, clean sd card with some soft cloth, check if metal contacts looks fine (try clean that if not), insert SD card, insert battery and try it again.
If this not help, you can try some shaking and so on. It's sounds crazy, but I know one guy whose shaking helped him to flash firmware to phone, which not works at all. Maybe it's some cheats for all these issues.
ad 4) You can delete caches via custom recovery, but related to 2) you can't so, this hint is useless.
I did everything u said. I checked the SD card & the slot and they seem ok.
This might sound dumb, but what do you mean by 'shaking'? Which part are you suppose to shake?? Sorry, im still new to androids
BTW, i went to the LG customer care. The technician checked it and said that they are going to replace the SD card slot. She said that sparepart (the SD card slot) is going to arrive sometime in mid-January due to the holidays.
By the shake I mean grab phone and do quick movements with phone from left to right and back.
But it seems, that you have some trouble with hardware part(s) of phone.
Need help/advice. I updated my phone with the newest Fresh Evo LTE 5.3.1 and the radio firmware. And after rebooting...noticed the Damaged Phone Storage notification. At first I thought it was no big deal cause it was the micro sd card. But then I found out it is the data/second partition on the internal phone storage. I tried to erase the phone storage...but that does not work. I am thinking of trying to restore back to stock and hoping the stock image restores the second partition.
Do you know what might of happened? And any options on trying to fix this problem?
You most likely need to reformat it. Best method so far seems to be booting into twrp and mounting the internal sd to PC and formatting it. Unless there's another cause, I don't know of any issues so it would help to wait for someone who has has to deal with anything similar before taking my advice

Thanks that worked...mounting to my PC in TWRP and formatting. Lost all my pictures and videos...will teach me for not syncing to one of those cloud storage services
Just make it a habit to back up your cards. Its always a good habit to back everything up
this just happened to me after a hard reset...can you show the exact steps i cant seem to figure out how to mount this?
Reboot to TWRP and look for mount, make sure it's set to internal and mount storage, in Windows a dialog should pop up saying that the card needs to be formatted
my phone is samsung a9 . ihave found that my phone storage is reduced from 127 gb to 7.95 gb and my sd card got damaged what can i do for this
I am having issues with external SD cards. I have 16 and 32 gb cards and every 2-5 days they become corrupted/damaged/blank. I have to format them and copy my backup files over at least once per week. I have had no luck finding a good solution for the SD card problems. I notice that my SD card will randomly mount / media scan / antivirus SD card scan when I unlock my screen. I assume this is causing the problems. I want to leave my external SD card UNmounted until i want to use it, then i will manually mount it under settings. My problem is when i leave it unmounted, Android will automatically mount it later when my screen is off. How do i change this so that the external SD will ONLY mount when i manually mount it in settings?
Not sure. Sounds like you just need to leave the card out or maybe get rid of that antivirus
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
the antivirus isn't the problem, randomly whenever the screen is turned on, the micro SD re-mounts (it somehow unmounted when the screen was off)... when it re-mounts Android automatically does a media scan and my AV scans it like it just connected... over time the SD card fails or becomes corrupted so I have to format. I'm looking for a way to DISABLE Android from automatically mounting an external micro SD... I assume people on this forum are knowledgeable on Android coding... disabling this function shouldn't be that hard...
Backup your micro sd. Wipe it clean. Make sure you format it with fat32 and not exfat. Put sd back in. Profit.
i have tried that several times.... perhaps i need to re-phrase the question....
Can someone please copy and paste the code within Android that automatically mounts an external SD card when it is inserted while the phone is on. Please also include the file name and directory. Thanks!
Well the problem is it's clearly either a hardware problem in the phone or that sd card. Wouldn't it be less of a pain to diagnose that and just try several other sd cards, then you wouldn't even have the issue anymore.
i met same problem here, how did you get this right?
I am in the same situation please provide a fix if you got it fixed

What ROM are you on? Do you have this device? Some newer ROMs have the ability to control the media scanner running at boot, which likely was the cause for these older issues.
An example of a current ROM having this is ResurrectionRemix.

Stock will not have it, you will need to install a custom ROM that includes the Media Scanner setting (there are KK ROMs that support it). Look around in the Development forum and see if one is to your liking; if the ROM has the feature they will often include it in the first post. The Ported forum also has much to choose, including the ROM I noted in my reply above yours.
Hi all
I have a Samsung S20 Ultra with a memory card that all of my photos are saved to, unfortunately I had to take my phone into Samsung experience store for a screen / back cover repair, the staff removed my Memory card and told me to factory reset due to GDPR as the device had to be sent away, when my device returned in the post 5 days later I went to put the memory card back in and a notice appeared stating the memory card is encrypted to a different device! I am totally devastated as there are pictures of my father who has passed away and other images that they are the only copies I have, I know now I should have unencrypted the memory card before the factory reset. I have spoken to Samsung directly so say there is nothing that can be done.
does anyone know of a way I can get round this I would be so very grateful!
Thanks in advanced

The best thing I could suggest is a third party solution that may be able to decrypt the information on the card, such as FeExplorer. Check to see if you have a "Decrypt SD card" option in the Lock Screen and Security settings, although I suspect it won't be able to do it.
The problem is, the encryption key is unique and stored in user data. When data is wiped during a factory reset, the key is wiped as well, so even if the user configures the same lock settings (password, pattern, etc) they key would be different.
I am not aware of an absolute solution, but here is what I would strongly suggest you do:
If able, make sure the contents of the card are backed up. Use cloud storage such as Google Drive.
Keep the card in a safe place; maybe put it in a small envelope or something, and mark it in such a way as to discourage accidental discarding or wiping.
Buy a new SD card to use in the meantime while you look for a way to recover the information on the encrypted card.
I am sorry for your loss, and I wish I had a better answer for you.
Edit: Found this on another site, maybe it's worth a try. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP THE DATA ON THE CARD IN CASE THIS GOES WRONG.
On a PC: Copy (the encrypted and unreadable) contents of the sd card from the phone to your harddrive
On the phone: Settings -> Storage -> Sd Card -> Format sd card (this erases all the data on the sd card but don't worry you have a copy on the PC)
On the phone: Settings -> Security -> Encrypt sd Card (should be real fast since it's an empty sd card)
On the PC: Copy the contents of the sd card onto the phone
On the phone: Settings -> Security -> Decrypt sd card (edit: this may take a while depending on how much data was on the card)
sorry but none of the above "solutions" makes any sense. it is not possible to recover data. encryption key was located /data/misc/vold and /data itself was encrypted, too. Furthermore one can't access /data aka userdata partition.
BUT... and here comes the but.. adoptable-storage usually is DISABLED in One UI
So how is it possible your MicroSD Card is encrypted at all? It's not, except you have installed custom ROM or installed any 3rd party encryption tool (you would remember)
There is a good chance your MicroSD Card is plain exFAT or Fat32 unencrypted file system. I recommend to use a card reader for PC and make a 1:1 dump with gddrescue and analyze the dump with photorec or other file carver solutions.
There exist tools for windows too, for example
https://www.klennet.com/carver
https://www.z-a-recovery.com
https://www.runtime.org
Don't buy any software if your MicroSD Card is encrypted, it will definitely not work.
You can easily check if your MicroSD Card is encrypted by opening raw disk image with HxD hex editor and search for any plain text or series of zeros. gparted or testdisk will tell you if partition table exist

when you put an SD card into a Samsung ultra it asks if you want to encrypt it through their own software, no third party apps were used
True, I realized after posting. Samsung is always bit special, they tried to think differently... In that case your data was lost in the moment of factory reset.

Hello, have an experience that my samsung device were dead and my sd card still encrypted.
Firstly, you have to backup entire data on your sd card just in case.
And then, format your sd card using another device (maybe your another android).
Last, put your sd card to windows device and recover all data with DiskDigger software.
It's work on my sd card, give it a try.. Dont forget to backup all data
