Hi , I'm new here .
if I use the XDA dev osx86 android installer and Remix Os , I can get it to boot up in portrait mode , which is great , any ideas how to fix rotation and also why the latest remix installer won't work
The tablet is baytrail 64bit but uses a 34 bit uefi I believe .

This is specifically on the Linx 1010 , as that's what I'm using .

It was a while ago now but pretty sure it was the 32 bit as the tablet would be capable of 64 bit but the boot efia thing constricts it to 32 bit if I remember right .
I had great fun messing with different operating systems booting off a stick with various success .
My biggest issue was that I couldn't get the settings to stick which I was told requires " persistence " on the building of the boot stick ; something that I don't have the skills for
My tablet still had W10 on it but i think a nice lightweight Linux distribution would work great on it , maybe time for me to try again

Ubuntu Budgie works compoletely out the box now on the Linx 1010b, just replaced windows on mine.
Did have to add the 32 bit EFI file into the EFI/boot directory on the USB first. Touchscreen, wifi, screen rotation the whole thing. Breathed new life into my netbook tablet/laptop.

I've seen Android (presumably honeycomb) running on notebook computers alongside windows 7 or vista basic, and now that I've freed my second partition I'd like to try either android our ubunto on it, and if JB our ICS are possible I'd love that since I love JB on the phone.
I run I3 with 4gb ram on an acer aspire.
is there any way to do this?
cheers, D

Nice one mate Trying now
As long as it is a 64 bit system It should work. Won't work on 32 bit system
Batcom2
There wasn't a version that was compatible with my laptop afaik , I'm fairly noob though.
I installed Ubuntu on the dual boot instead in the end as it looks potentially amazing even if simple things like wine or Skype Dont work (apparently this awesome style interface broke compatibility with many apps?)
I'd never tried Linux before so its an experience , and android is loosely based in a Linux kernel right?
Looking forward to the Ubuntu mobile os now

Title says all. Comment with something under here if you have a GP 4.2. I'm making a ROM for it but, due to my network speed (slooooow), I want to know how many users will download it. Thanks in advance!
PS. If you know other users that have this Player tag their names into your reply!
I have one, but I've since replaced with with the 5 inch model. I still use it on occasion to test apps and things.
I have one, so does @SerkTheTurk @lets_zock and @ChaosChris
Sad that this is a very unsupported device (both by Samsung and developers)
No. I have not it. I leaved it to the samsung center with the latest hard brick. For now i only have a note 1 but i want to sell it to buy an iPhone 4 or a SGS 3.

I only have some questions:
1) Is it true that I need to have a 64 bit CPU? If yes, I have not, but in a VM is it possible to have it?...
2) What Linux OS is the best to get a fast compilation time? (My VM: 2Core, 1.5GB Ram, HDD USB 2.0 to host it (only used for the VM), 128GB of virtual HDD)
3) With Mint 15 64bit VirtualBox crashes on boot, is this a problem of the "64bit" version or is a problem of the small quantity of RAM?
I have it! It will be really, really, really great to have a new ROM, since we've got a few numbers of developers for this device. A CM7 or CM9 ROM, like u said u're going to try to do, would be really great for future developers and a future Jelly Bean ROM. ( Nowadays, I'm using ChaOS ROM v1 + S3 Modpack made by @ChaosChris )

1)I believe you can build CM7 with a 32 bit OS (that requires only a 32bit processor) but for CM9 onwards you need a 64 bit version of Linux (which requires a 64 bit processor)
2)You can use Ubuntu 10.04 (as recommended on the official Android developers website) for maximum compatibility and less compilation errors.
3)Yup, you cant use 64 bit OS'es on 32 bit processors, neither with VMs nor by actually installing it on another partition.

1) So for 3 or 4 years (I haven't enough money for a new pc and my parents will never buy another one only because "the cpu can work with the double number of bit in the same time" (Yes, my father were born with the "linux inside" signature, but with a 16/32bit brain))
2) Ok, I'll try
3) Damn!
4) With this post I can now post in the dev section! So when I'll fixed all bugs with current rom I will open a thread for it! Thanks!

Great idea! Building a ROM in this way would be really useful to have more knowledge about what you're doing. This will help you to, if there is an error, find out exactly where it is, so you can fix it. Good thinking. Good look, maybe we finally got a sucessful CM7.
I am talking about my modded stock based rom... the cm one will wait because i need to fix some errors with the vm.

lol Got it. Will you try to develop themes for your custom ROM?
Yes. But not now. I'll make themes after I have modded all the Rom because if I mod a part of the rom i need to mod all themes so when i end the modding-time i will start with all done and the theming process will be more faster.

As a lot of us know, RemixOS can't run with NVIDIA GPUs right now, at least not with the modern ones.
The only way around is to disable the GPU and use internal graphics instead - which runs like ****.
Anybody know if there's another way? I'd really like to try RemixOS on my PC.
I downloaded the latest version, and it actually booted (I have a gtx 970). My only problem is that when I restart it bootloops at the startup screen[remix android screen].

Here is a possible solution that was found on Reddit by the user winsock2
I have a GTX 970 too and I have the same problem. I believe Remix OS has some problems with NVIDIA GPUs. Though the problem is not official, many users are facing @MisterCoolBeans I couldn't quite get on to what was there on that Reddit post. Mind explaining?
I thought I was the only one. You don't know how many times I tried installing and reinstalling the system. The thing which was really killing me was that after less than 5-10 minutes the system would simply freeze without any sollution to fix it. I had to restart the system every time it happened until I got fed up with it. At first I considered it may be an app incompatibility, but it seems like the GPU itself can't get along with it, which is pretty unfortunate.

It didn't.
I have one nvidia 960M and I am not able to boot remix os
Actually I can if I boot using the CPU video card but I would like using the power of my nvidia.
I have an Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT and it boots fine one the latest version. Weird thing is that Phoenix OS has always worked fine on my NVidia. So I'm assuming they use different graphics drivers in their respective versions. Not sure....either way...glad Remix OS works with my graphics card now. I prefer RemixOS to PhoenixOS for most things anyway

I purchased an A10e only to find the app I wanted to use the phone for is only compatible with 64bit android. As far as I can tell the phone has a 64 bit processor but 32 bit android. Ok lol
does anyone know how to modify the stock os file running 32 to 64 bit please help? because there is no android version that supports 64bit released by samsung, so it has to be customized, i just need how and where to customize the latest rom version. The help is to install android with 64bit support when there is no version released by the manufacturer which is a silly answer. I think 64bit support but running on 32bit makes the phone run faster and svae batery, and 64bit on that phone may slow down your phone and only using some 64bit apps can be smooth. As for 64bit applications that require powerful processing, even if you can install them, you will have problems with lag and overload
