[Q] Softbricked my i9300

Hi All,
i think i just softbricked my S3. i was running Omega rom 33.2 and found the phone was unstable. Hence i wiped data, factory reset, clear dalvik cache and etc. after flashing the rom, it got stucked at samsung boot screen.
i even tried to reflash the rom but still failed to boot up. after that i decided to flash stock rom using Odin (I9300ZSDLK2). it managed to boot in but then it got stucked at recovery (failed to mount /system (Invalid argument). i thought it could be something wrong with the /system, i then flash CWM to format /system. obvious i wont be asking for help if that step succeeded. i basically got pawned because i am not able to mount /system. anybody can help me?
Have you tried flashing your nandroid backup that you'll have made at one time before flashing a ROM?

no backup. i think nandroid restore wont help also because of /system is dead. i need to solve /system mounting issue.
Try full format then flash a stock firmware package in Odin.
Go into mounts and storage and format: System, data, cache and internal SD if you have it backed up.
Then re flash stock firmware, this has got me out of soft bricks lots of times.

Unfortunately it still won't work. I have decided to send back to sc but before that I need to find a way to completely kill my phone. Meaning no download or recovery mode. Anyway thanks for your help.

If you are able to get into download mode, you can try flashing a PIT file. It will either really brick your phone or fix it. Search for the PIT file in the forums.
Remember when u flash a rom with pit file u need to tick repatition in odin..
But only do THIS in your case, never do it otherwise..
Good luck

[Q] TWRP Problem, need serious help

I have a DNA and while trying to restore to a previous backup I made in an attempt to restore to a stock rom, I ended up wiping my system from TWRP's wipe screen. Now i'm stuck in a boot loop and despite adb pushing a rom over to try to flash and recover to it, I'm pretty sure all of my files are gone and i'm screwed. Help?

You should still be able to get into the bootloader by holding volume down and power or by adb reboot recovery. Then just adb push the rom to somewhere like /data(just because I know it exists) and flash the rom.

I can get to TWRP's recovery screen, and push the rom to /data, but when I try to flash and install I get error messages saying it failed because it's unable to mount /storage or /data

make sure they are mounted in the twrp mount screen. You may have to do a full wipe of them too.

/data not formatting nor mounting

Recently, I don't know how it happened, but my S3 stopped powering up, every time I try it, it enters on a loop with the "Samsung Galaxy SIII i9300" message, and when I try to format the phone via recovery mode, it says that it can't mount /data nor formatting it. Anyone know how to fix this?

CWM 6.0.4.7
@Saternoir: if you want to format sdcard0, loosing your data is ok - right?
So I suggest to install TWRP (CWM is outdated) via Odin. TWRP can't restore CWM-Backups, so for restoring you've to go back to CWM.

Just tried it, but when it enters on the TWRP (showing TeamWin), it returns to the "Samsung Galaxy..." loop.
Installed again CWM, it enters without problems.

via Odin, did the same with TWRP
@Saternoir: I suppose, you took an official TWRP from here.
Perhaps try Phillz?
Otherwise I recommend a flash of actual firmware or, if this doesn't work, a 3part firmware + PIT-file to remake partitions.

Ok, seems like somehow it worked finally, TWRP successfully installed, and I performed an install of a stock 4.3 ROM, but when I try to install once again the 5.1.1 CM12.1 ROM from Archi, it starts the loop, I've had that ROM since 1-2 months after he started developing it.
@Saternoir: wipe /data, /system and both of caches. Flash ROM again. If you stuck again in bootanim., flash Boeffla NG 4.0 alpha 9 with wipe of cashes only.
Otherwise try Slim-ROM (becauae of its AOSP-base).

Ok, now the problem if that I have a random IMEI instead of mine (the one on the battery slot)... I don't have any backup of the efs directory. Any way to get again the real IMEI?
Very strange. Did you install BoefflaKernel ever? Then you would find the backup:
sdcard0/boeffla-kernel-data/efs.tar.gz
Otherwise install firmware again and pray that it repairs.

Cannot Flash Rom / Restore - Error 7, Error 1001, Cannot mount System

Hey everybody,
I was on LOS 15.1 for a rather long time and I wanted to try RR, so as usual I backed up my system and tried to flash the RR-rom.
It did not work at all and I got several errors among which error 7 and the unability to mount system partition were the most prominent.
The device got bricked several times but I got it back to life with MiFlashTool, running either MIUI 8.5 or MIUI 9.
The strange thing is that even after flashing the MIUI-img - and basically bringing the device back to its factory firmware - I could not flash a rom.
I tried several recoverys; the latest TWRP, the TWRP linked in the LOS15.1 thread and OrangeFoxRecovery. None of them would work. I wiped all partition, nothing worked. I got different errors shown, most of them were error 7 or not being ablke to mount system, as stated before.
Right now I am back to MIUI and rooted it, which worked from OrangeFox, but I actually would like tzo run a custom rom again.
Any idea what I could do?
Cheers!
Noone who has an idea why it would not work?
I thought that after flashing via Flashtool the phone would be as good as new and all prioir changes would be gone? Wha can I not flash anything via recovery and get erros?
Or are there different versions of Orange Fox Recovery? RR would be treble, so I would need a treble recovery.
Cheers!
Have you tried to format internal storage?
If not backup data in sdcard or pc and format it using recovery.
Are you using trble supported recoveries?
Did you encrypted your data while using Lineage OS?
Hey,
well, yes, I encrypted data but since reinstalling MIUI via Flashtool this is gone. And I thought that this should be enough and reflashing it via MiFlash is like a factory reset? Is there anything I did not consider?
After Flashtool did not do the trick, wiped everything but External memory in TWRP, no kelp either.
I also did the normal wipe (where you dont have to choose which partition), this did not help.
As I said, I am currently on the latest OrangeFox Recovery but I also tried the latest TWRP and the TWRP in the LOS 15.1-Thread, which did not help.
To my knowledge all of the are treble recoverys?
I also tried to restore a vackup of LOS which did not work...
I flashed

When you reply quote, I didn't get notifications for your reply.
Your bootloader is unlocked and you installed Twrp recovery.
Try copying Rom zip to SD card and wipe system, data, cache, dalviks cache, internal storage (exclude sd card off course). Then install it.
It should work
As I said, I did all of this, yet it does not work.
After wiping I tried to flash RR rom...
I get "Patching system image unconditionally...
Then I get E1001: Failed to update system image. (in white)
Updater process ended with: ERROR 7 (in red)
Error installing zip file 'patch...' (in red)
Updating partition details (in white)
Failed to mount '/system' (Invalid Argument) (in red).
As I said, that happens with different recoverys and different roms (treble and non treble)

Are you sure the Rom you installating is for your device because error 7 occured if the rom you are trying install is not for your device.
Yes, of course, it was the correct ROM. Before error 7 I got error 1001 and I guess this was the initial problem.
My guess it that the problem was the decrypted partition which I did not format in twrp in my first go. Every wipe and format afterwards somehow did not help...
Now after having flashed recovery and different roms 10 times and using miflash 10 times it worked and now I am on RR. Don't ask me what eventually did the trick.

Great to know
I hated MIUI because of the bloatware and ads. Have fun using RR. If you want you can use Liquid Remix Pie its a great ROM.
Yes. I also did not like MIUI that much, that's why I was using Lineage before I wanted to try RR: Thanks for the advice for anothe rom.
i fix this issue by format data, not only wipe then restart the recovery and install the ROM, then finally it works !

If I format data, then I have to reboot into the recovery menu to be able to use data again. But this is impossible, because it gets stuck into the bootloop every time I try to reboot. Any other option to fix this error?
EDIT:
I could fix it myself:
1. MIUI latest version; flash with MiFlash.
2. flash TWRP with e.g. YUware
3. flash latest fw_vendor in TWRP
4. full update pixel expierence (NOT incremental) rom flash
5. Partitions/Data/Format
6. Reboot and ready to use

S9+ Cant install Pixel Experience 13

I have flashed twrp wiped the phone, but when i try to install pixel experience i get Failed to mount '/system' and '/vendor' (invalid argument)
I have tried changing from ext4 to ext2 and back to ext4 again but it still doesnt work
Wipe Dalvik/ART, Cache, System, Data as before every rom install, if that doesn't work you will have to flash boot.img but don't do this with the restore method in twrp, only use the install button.

Glad you work it out. Don't know about your phone but what i heard is in order to flash A13 rom you have to flash original A11 firmware on your phone.
Have a nice one!
