Hi,
I was looking for the options to mirror android phone to TV. I found that MHL and slimport only works if the phone has support for it.
The other options which can work with any phone includes chromecast and miracast. However chromecost has few limitations (at least for me) which includes internet access required and not all the apps don't works with chromecast.
So miracast is the only one that can work with any phone (running android 4.2 and up). I've also checked few miracast dongles like belkin and microsoft. My questions are:
1) Which is the best miracast dongle in terms of performance
2) What is the maximum range we can get with mriacast for uninterrupted mirroring
3) How is the overall experience with miracast (if any one has tried it)
Any suggestions and advice would be highly appreciable.

Hey Guys,
Im using a tab pro 12.2 and running stock rooted deodexed, and Im wondering if I buy the chromecast dongle - will I be able to mirror my device straight to the screen (I want to mirror custom videos not through youtube etc) with mxplayer pro. My TV doesnt have any sort of wifi, but it does have a hdmi slot - hence going with chromecast.

Yes there are ways to do this
The TV doesn't need WiFi, just your home and device (tablet, phone, PC)
I can only cast screen natively from my nexus devices or PC but there are apps that allow for this
Check the Chromecast threads for more info
Oh, and the best $35 I ever spent, over a year now and still use it daily
Ok thanks, didnt realise there was a specific chromecast forums
Just ordered "MyGica A681 USB ATSC HDTV Tuner" and a "DuaFire Amplified Digital HDTV Antenna" from Amazon. According to Google's support side you simply "connect a USB tuner to your Android TV device." src- support.google.com/androidtv/answer/6285282?hl=en
Will report back on functionality.
Please do, this would be pretty amazing.
NO go
Didnt work, and I suspected it wouldn't from the start considering how unknown the brand of TV tuner I bought. Even when I hooked it up to my Win 8 machine it wouldn't work, thinking I could use a DVB server. HDHomerun here I come.

I can confirm this device DOES WORK on NP, however only app to work with it is PadTv HD or
hookup to pc as backend and using kodi pvr * if going kodi route live Tv is useless on wireless due to low download speeds, have not tested via wired
Just thinking out loud here,
These two tuners are specifically built for android:
D-Link DSM-T100 + App
pctv AndoroiDTV + App
Theres lots out there, as long as they say they support android i reckon its just a matter of grabbing the APK and sideloading it
Looks like you can hook them into a home antenna with a simple adapter.
Neither specifically state they support the nexus player, but they do support all the nexus phones and some tv's
really i am guessing whatever drivers they require are built into an app for them.
So really it would just be a matter of these app developers to support live channels and this would be a far cheaper option over something like a HDhomerun
I just use my Tablo 4 tuner box connected to my OTA antenna on the roof, works great. Live TV, guide and everything, and works perfectly on the Nexus Player. Kind of pricey, but more functional than just the HDHomerun boxes (which I've had several of over the years, they make great hardware). The Tablo boxes are a full OTA dvr, just add an external hard drive to it and go.
is there still support for this?
Here androidtv.news/2016/10/live-channels-updated-supports-usb-tuners-adds-dvr-capabilities/ says that now ATSC USB TV tuners are supported (TV signal for USA), at least 3 tested.
Anyone tried DVB usb tuner (europe)???????????

I've just tried the official Xbox one digital TV tuner and it wasn't detected. I'm not surprised but even Google couldn't give me a list of compatible USB tuners.
Does anyone know a custom kernel which includes the drivers for this?
I have a TV that has VGA support and HDMI. The only way that Remix OS is even going to be useful for me is if I can plug it up to the TV.
Nothing is working. No VGA, no HDMI, even ChromeCast doesn't work.
I am using a Samsung NP300E5C laptop. The PC has 8gb Ram and an i5.
These ports definitely work on my other OS's.
Is there any way to enable VGA/HDMI ?? This is really frustrating. I went out and bought a chromecast and wasted money on that, after no HDMI/VGA support. This seems like an issue that must be affecting a lot of people. Why would you make an OS that isn't supporting these features? Let's face it--the biggest appeal of this OS is playing Android games and emulators. HDMI and VGA support should definitely be a feature.
Chromecast shows up in youtube for me but thats the only app...
Settings --> Miracast --> Chromecast works for me
I have a lm6200 LG TV that has Wi-Fi and Intel widi built in and a LG G4 sprint with miracast and smart share. Is there any way to Mirror my Android screen to this TV without internet using a chromecast? Specifically I only want to mirror the games I play on phone to big screen wirelessly. I have unlimited data on phone but hot-spot is a not an option as it costs $$$$. Really don't want to root phone either. If chrome not good option can anyone recommend another cheap dongle so I can Miracast my phone screen to it? TV has hdmi, USB and several other ports on back to plug into. Thanks in advance!

Intel WiDi is a Miracast implementation! You should not need a Miracast dongle or the Chromecast to mirror your display to your WiDi enabled TV!
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S7 which comes with the "Smart View" app in Android 8.0, which makes it easy to screen cast the phone to another Miracast device (e.g. TV or PC). Is there any way to do the reverse, i.e. using the phone as a Miracast host to display the screen of, say, another phone or PC? In particular, I want to use the Wireless Display feature in Windows 10 to have the phone as an external PC display. Windows can do both (cast to a device and host/display a cast from a device) but Smart View can only cast, not host. I don't want to use a media streaming app over the local network or god forbid a remote desktop solution routing everything through the internet. I want to use specifically Miracast because it's fast, convenient, built-in to many devices and most importantly uses direct peer-to-peer WiFi instead of going through the rest of the network, thus it's perfect for short-distance casting, which is exactly my use case. Unfortunately, I can't find any app that allows the phone to receive Miracast streams. Can anyone help?
