Hi, I recently updated my S6 Edge to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and since then I get the 'Unfortunately, Messages has stopped' error whenever I send or receive an SMS text message from someone I've not sent or received a text from before. Sending and receiving texts from existing contacts works fine, its only for new numbers I have added
So far I've tried the following:
- force stopping, clearing the cache and data from the Messages application
- force stopping, clearing the cache and data from the Contacts and Contacts Storage application
- uninstalled Facebook & FB Messenger
- cleared the system partition cache
- removed the update to the 'Android System Webview' application
Any help would be appreciated as I'm not sure what else to try
Thanks

factory reset the phone. switch off the phone. press volume up, home buttom, and power buttom together to get access to the recovery. wipe data/factory reset and and wipe cache. then you reboot. it will work peoperly.
Hi, any other option other than doing a factory reset?

I found that if you create the first email account using the Settings>Accounts&Sync>Add new account method. Then the Email.apk will launch without a problem.
I believe the issue is related to the runOnce "Create new account" wizard for the email app.
Also, if you have any other apps (gmail, maps, play store) that are FC just go to Settings>Applications> and find the app, force stop, clear data and cache, and retry.
If you didn't wipe from LPQ then yes, clear data on the apps or actually wipe in CWM like its recommended.
Looking into the email problem, but other Roms are having the same issue so it might be the Email.APK itself.
Hi ALl,
Recently I installed Android 4.3 from Samsung update for my Samsung S3 I747.
All features and apps are working good. However, when I try to share any picture from Gallery, i get error message ""unfortunately gallery has stopped".
At first, I saw there is a "Auto Backup" folder available in gallery which infact I had deleted from Picasa. Somehow, it didnt get sync with my mobile. So I cleared out the cache, Wipe out Dalvik cache, unlinked the Google Picasa Sync and cleared the Gallery app settings. After enabling the sync, I could now see updated folders in Gallery, but I still get same error ""unfortunately gallery has stopped" whenever I select any picture and try to Share it.
Anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue?

This Force Close is a conflict of Contacts sync from an application.
Here are below a few things to try (backup first and root is sometimes required):
• Settings > Apps > All > Contacts/People and Contacts Storage > Force stop & Clear data. This will wipe your contact list so backup first!
• Reboot to recovery then wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions.
• With a file manager and root permissions go to /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/ and delete (or rename) 'databases'.
• Clear data of GMail app
• Settings > Apps > All > Browser > Clear cache and data.
• Update your firmware
• Format your external sdcard.
• Delete all account syncs and clear data of People app.
• Freeze all apps which have the permission to sync your contacts then unfreeze them one by one to find the guilty app.
• Synchronising Facebook contacts with a GMail account can generation this FC 'process.android.acore'.
• Clear cache of your contacts and your calendar with Titanium Backup for instance
• Delete all your contacts strored in your SIM card (if any)

You need to pull a log.. search this forum on how to set up adb and then search log cats.. When you have one post it here and I'll look through it..
What is it that you erased or changed before you got that error. Please don't say anything bc there had to be something modified to throw an error..The phone just doesn't do it bc

Anytime I reboot I get an error saying Picasa uploaded stopped working. I went into app manager clear cache and data turned off then back on and rebooted yet the error is still popping up. Any suggestions.

Not enough info. The app is crashing for some reason.. for a start go to the Applications manager, force stop Picasa, clear the cache and data. Then boot to recovery and wipe Dalvik (or wipe cache if you have a stock recovery). Then reboot normally and see if it works. If not, reinstall it.. see if there are any bugfix updates, Google, logcat.. etc until it becomes clear what the conflict is.
Most of the time just clearing the cache + data + Dalvik as explained above will suffice.
