[Q] Sound and Volume Levels

I am hearing impaired and wear hearing aids in both ears, and was wondering if somebody could comment on the volume levels of the ringtones and notifications on this phone. I tried the HTC Inspire 4G but I couldn't hear it.

It's LOUD. I rarely have my phone on full volume now. A total contrast to my HTC Desire.

do you notice the difference in speaker quality/ volume versus galaxy s 1?
and how is the earbuds?
Yes, i also want to know how is the quality and the power with the headphones (in-ear). Do you compare it to an ipod or to a Cowon Iaudio for example (would be perfect...). Just tell me if its good quality and powerful enough.
I got round to trying out the headphone volume for the first time last night and have to say compared to the SGS I find the audio volume to be quite poor.
With the volume up to the max it is only just acceptable.
On the SGS if I turned that to max it would have hurt my ears.
I have tried it on various Media players all with the same effect.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

50% of volume level through stock headphones loud enough for me .
100% far far to loud .
Thats on original stock through to KE7

Yes... I have a sneaky feeling I may have a problem with my SGS2.
I have asked a few colleagues at work and they all agree the volume from both the Headphones AND Speaker is quite poor.
I have now purchased Volume + (Sound Boost) and tried increasing the levels but with no success.

Agreed. I'm comparing it to my iRiver H340 which is unfair but the GSII sounds pretty s**t through my Shures, low volume and overall bad dynamics. This wouldn't bother me in the slightest in regards to MP3 use as I have never used a mobile phone as a music player, there isn't a phone in the world that can compete to a proper music player, especially with Rockbox installed like my iRiver. However, the bad volume and dynamics also effect video playback, both in terms of Youtube and local video files. I did a direct comparison between my GSII and my brother's Desire HD with the same Youtube music video and my Shure E2C earphones last night and to say the Samsung was found wanting is an understatement. That does bother me.
Anyone aware of a way to increasing the volume at the very least?
try this m8
go to dailer *#*#197328640#*#*(You need this one i think.)
Click 5 Audio - 2 AP volume config
1 nb voice call
then setting are there to abmax of level 100 click on any then it will say input value hope it helps
Do a search for Dsp manager in the forums. Made my S2 sound crisp.

Had a look at this... boy was it confusing. There is a mountain of settings which made absolutely no sense to me.
I tried the method you kindly mention but it didn't seem to follow sorry.

I see it requires root.
This is something I have yet to do. Don't want to do it until I have the SGS2 sorted.

Absolutely no problem... and if you feel happy enough about it a thank-you will also see £10 coming out of my wallet for my nursing staff.
They check my profile at the end of each week. This week so far they will be tearing £20 (I think) from the leather.

Really...... Interesting as it says at the top of the topic ~ "You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup before flashing…I’m not responsible for problems. It should work on any 2.2 ROMs…YMMV"

I don't remember mine doing that.
yea it starts out low and gets louder as it rings
Is it doing this with every ringtone? Are you rooted and/or on another rom? Never seen this myself on various roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
yes im rooted tried two different roms still does it
I have the complete opposite problem - ringtones start out very, very loud then drop down to a lower volume after about 5 seconds. Same effect no matter what ringtone I try. Odd.

[Q]ICS Ring Volume

I found that one other person posted this in the Shostock thread, so I figured I'd at least ask. I'm currently on Shishir's ICS rom, but I noticed it also on the UCLC2 leak: when I get an incoming call, the ring volume starts off very quiet for the first half-second or so, then immediately jumps to the set ringing volume (which for me is pretty high). Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there any fix? Or is it a bug that's well known and not yet fixed and I'm just an idiot? Any help would be appreciated
A lot of Samsung phones have the Increasing Ringtone. When I had the Samsung Eternity, it started with low volume then jumped to a higher volume, same with my Samsung Captivate. I think it's one their "features" for their phone.

I never experienced it on stock 2.3.4 though. My gf's captivate doesn't do it either. So I don't think that's it. Any other ideas?

I remember that feature on old pre-smartphone era phones. I haven't seen that in any versions of the S II or android from GB to ICS...
I wonder if bumping is allowed in this forum.
Does anyone have any useful information about this at all? Is it even happening to anyone else on custom ICS roms?

I know this won't be much help but I have used a few ROM's...unnamed..Phone Bricker...Turkbey....Turkbey ICS and never had that issue.

Random bump to see if anyone knows anything now. Does it happen to anyone on Sammy-based ROMs? AOSP ROM users do chime in too please
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
Increasing ring, you can remove it by modding it.
Shostock, Phone-Bricker, not sure what else have removed it so it doesn't do that.

Wouldn't that help you get to it quicker since you have it "pretty high"

How complicated would such a mod be, especially on an odexed ROM? XD

I have no idea how to mod on odex files.
Shirshir knows I believe since his rom is the only odex in our phone.

[Q] Hum from external speaker

Hi,
Just wanted to ask a guick question, when I am using my phone and open any app, turn on bluetooth, gps etc I get a very quiet hum for about a second or two from the external speaker. Has any one experienced this with there galaxy ace?
If not i'll contact samsung and see what they say.
Thanks
This is normal for me
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
Same here. It's a mix of a very low volume hum and static noise.
It's done that from day one on stock rom and all custom roms i tried so far.
I guess it's hardware related.
Both aces have that.
Thanks for the reply guys good to know me phones ok.
