Excellent work. By the way, could you help me get the original boot.img? I flashed on a different model and got bootloop.
Can someone please make a TWRP backup and upload it somewhere? ... I tried to change the LCD density and now my whatch just shows a black screen when I try to boot.
But luckily I can still get into TWRP
AFAIK the lcd density is set in /system/build.prop
ro.sf.lcd_density=***number***
perhaps you can pull this from your watch, alter it and then push it back where it belongs...
I tried that, but still no display

Can anyone confirm that this has worked for them? The previous posts of several people with soft bricks or boot loops and no confirming comments makes me hesitant to try it... However, I just got mine today so I'm going to go home and try to boot twrp anyways, if I'm able to complete a backup I'll post the nandroid for all you guys

Thanks a lot!
Now I can run Mahdi without problems!
thanks for this- but it's still not working- will i need to reflash madhi? i just fastbooted the recovery across and it boots into the recovery no worries and recognises all partitions but rom won't boot...
***edit*** it just booted up, about 5th attempt.. no boot animation though...ignore me...

Which rom were you running when you rebooted into recovery?
Stock, so CM11s.
mine still is not good. i treid to reboot to get it to hold the no hardware buttons. didn't reboot. tried about 10 times. eventually booted intot this new recovery and reflashed rom and booted it up. it's a bloody weird looking boot- no boot animation- made me think it was screwed again.
did you have to do anything to get it working again? Wipe entire device or just data partition?
Working good here, but I had no issues with the official build. I have an international version, 64GB OPO.
It's nice to see some additional features added, though.
Just helping out, packaged in a flashable zip for those with current CWM or TWRP recoveries, tested and working, enjoy everyone.
Flashed with the zip in the post above, worked flawlessly, was able to backup my EFS partition which is what I was looking to do. Thanks!

Guys i wonder when you press efs restore is it
fastboot format modemst1 & st2
or
fastboot erase modemst1 & st2
or may be both? in that case in what order?
I flashed the one in OP, but the system does not see any partition ?
Can I flash 15th without bricking the phone
[EDIT] I tried a second time, and now it´s ok, partitions are there and backup is currently running
Any chance at adding F2FS support direct for this recovery for the ONE Plus?

Question - now I ask this to see how you may do this and possibly help others from waiting for a zip. Now are you simply renaming the image file from TWRP to recovery.img and placing it inside an already created zip file for flashing. A zip file that of course was created for an earlier version of TWRP lets say

In my case I am unable to access recovery mode and factory data reset has no use and it is the only way to access the options menu. Even the power off - restart - screen shot menu area not access able.
Please help fast.
Even in fastboot mode the PC recognizes my device but not as OnePlus3.
I cannot access some apps like b612, injustice etc.
Even the OnePlus Launcher is not working.
Some apps like B612 ,Injustice ,Godfire ,WhatsApp and Hike just load the previous screen and cannot be opened. They are all present in the apps list and app drawer.

I won't be able to have access to adb till late tonight at the earliest, can you pull it using the following command?
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/ of=/sdcard/
Those commands should copy the stock recovery IMG to your sdcard directory
Edit. Last command might be
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/ of=/sdcard/stockrecovery.IMG
I think you have to specify the destination IMG file name

Want to root/twrp Zenwatch 2 m6e69n - ANY HELP would be GREAT!!!
I got my Z2 m6e69n about a week ago (10/16/16) and it's great but I want root & twrp like I have on my other Android devices. Don't know that it matters, I'm using LS990 (Sprint LG G3 on KK 4.4.2). I've been searching XDA and YouTube for clear, detailed info on how to root and get TWRP on the watch but not having a lot of luck.
What I have found is:
- I have activated developer options
- How to get into recovery, how to access bootloader, how to unlock bootloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenwatch/general/guide-how-to-access-recovery-zenwatch-t3167623) THANKS to arbitercu
...but nothing detailed about installing TWRP. Maybe I'm blind or just not understanding but any help would be great. I simply don't want to BRICK my Zenwatch.
- ALSO, VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE with ADB and side loading which I think might be important to mention.
- Last thing, basically want to get some of the BLOAT off the device and get the most out of it.
Almost forgot:
- Zenwatch 2 m6e69n Sparrow (1.63")
Thanks in advance!

Could someone provide fastboot flashable .IMG files?
I've ****ed up my watch quite hard by grabbing the wrong system image while the watch was still locked, now I can't even boot it anymore or restore a TWRP backup because the file system seems to be corrupt. I can't save anything in /sdcard without it getting wiped again after a reboot.

What happens when you boot twrp using fastboot? If you can get into twrp, with the bootloader unlocked you might be able to reformat the partitions.
On a side note I think you can format the partitions from fastboot mode

Yeah, I've managed to repair the partitions by erasing and formatting them via fastboot, for whatever reason only formatting them didn't help... I have no clue why. Except boot I've erased + formatted every partition, then booted TWRP via "fastboot boot TWRP" and then was able to push TWRP backup files onto /data/media (/sdcard was broken still for whatever reason). After the first boot it somehow fixed /sdcard too tho it was missing all of its files on there. I simply did a factory reset of the watch after this and now it seems to be back and working again, tho I'm not fully sure because TWRP seems to have some problems still but that could be due to the wonky and, sorry, "****ty" port of TWRP 3.0 someone else made.

That's good you got it working. As for twrp if I remember right there were some issues with 3.0.0 regarding Android wear that were fixed in later versions. Ever since my galaxy s3, I've taken to building my own for the devices I have or have had. I make them available on my website.
Can anybody provide this for a Zenwatch 2 Wren? It would be appreciated a lot.

Hi all,
I'm happy to share with you my new TWRP recovery 3.1.0-0 built from sources. It works for Single Sim XA only.
As before you can't wipe /cache because it is used by TWRP and I don't know how to force unmount, decryption of /data doesn't work so if you want a full backup or explore files use an unencrypted data partition.
Download link:
https://mega.nz/#!ZxBBGTbA!C2FSqJE0Xv6yQDPlmzRkmGOVxYhRMMhe3Z2TGTCvCkg
Flash it with fastboot.
Have a nice day
So works in 100%

backup
When I do backup with 3.1 TWRP and when I choose partitions to backup, it says: Data (excluding data stored in internal storage) - when backup is in progress info pop-ups that data will be backed up without eg. pictures or downloaded items.
My internal memory is not encrypted (was formatted) so why is that ?
This is not a case with previous 3.0.2 TWRP. ALL was included in backup.

Feature request
Hi rrvuhpg,
Is it possible for you to add complete DATA partition backup option in your recovery ?
I mean something like Data-image, so nothing would be excluded in backup.
Also if you could add phone battery charging when working in recovery, that would be very useful, please.
I know it sounds like "feature request", but maybe you could consider adding these items.

Hi, sorry but I will not add the possibility to add complete DATA partition backup. I will verify on the old TWRP but it should not too, it's a decision taken by the TWRP dev team.
If you want the official answer look here: https://twrp.me/faq/backupexclusions.html
For the battery charging I don't need to add the feature, you phone is charging well throug TWRP (look at the recovery logs) it only doesn't show the battery level, it's more aesthetic than usefull but if I release an updated TWRP I will try to show it. A golden rule to know is to charge the battery before playing with backup/restore/update.

Hi, ok I read this, and They say: "You may want to backup the internal storage as well but this is not possible in the TWRP GUI. You have to do it manually (e.g. with "tar" when your internal storage is mounted in TWRP".
Could you please explain how to do it manually using "tar", I mean how to backup Data partition manually ?
I am just curious why it is not recommnded to do full backup of Data including user data ?
Hi rrvuhpg,
Is it possible for you to make a tutorial how to make recovery TWRP for xperia xa single sim ?
What is configuration file for it and where it can be found? , how to compile it from sources ?
Which sources should one use ?
There are some tutorials about how to compile it, but not specifically related to xperia xa f3111.
What kind of tools should one use ?
You have an experience with it so based on it can you share your observations.

Hi, I read those tutorials and I am learning at present a lot of new things, but it leaves me still with many to read and acquire.
I found your files on github: https://github.com/search?utf8=✓&q=device_sony_tuba&type=
and I was wondering if there were xperia xa configuration files. I figured those are for dual sim xa. So I would like to kindly ask you if you could put xperia xa single sim configuration files as when you do TWRP recovery for this phone (for which I am very grateful) anybody could use it and learn from it. Especially it is difficult to make boardconfig.mk correctly and not too many people write about xperia xa single sim building, compiling, etc. It is a not very popular smartphone I wonder.
I hope that it would be OK with you,

You can use the same device tree for single and dual (you can change all "tubads" by "tubass") , I will push changes to Github so you will have the correct Boardconfig. You will have to download the kernel tree from Sony or modify the Boardconfig to use a prebuilt kernel extracted from the modified boot or TWRP for your device.
If you want to learn I recommend you to try to build TWRP for a device who have a lot of documentation first, after it will be easy for you to do the same for XA.

Hi @rrvuhpg,
I've asked for your help regarding the compilation of the kernel for xperia xa in a private message. I've tried to compile the kernel from your git, but I'm not seeing any zImage after the compilation. I've also downloaded the kernel archive from sony archives and succeeded compiling this one with the default config for a F3111 (tubass_defconfig). I got an *Image* binary file in the out directory, probably this one is the zImage, but I'm not sure if I need to do something else to this binary before packing it along with the ramdisk. I figured that you're doing something additionally. I'm doing this because I want to get rid of the dynamic brightness adjustments in the kernel. Please, can you help me?
Thanks.

Hi, your question is a little off topic here but I will answer you
In the "out" directory, don't use the zImage but zImage-dtb. You only have to pack it along with the ramdisk. If you have any questions please use your thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xa/help/dynamic-brightness-question-t3614808

Hi, TWRP and boot for Marshmallow doesn't work for Nougat. You will have to wait for a new boot and recovery for Nougat (and a new guide to root it).
@rrvuhpg
Maybe you can help... I successfully flashed this on my XA MM, and flashed ultra slim MM rom, but rom will not boot. Usually just infinite boot animation, but once I got it to start 'optimizing apps', but rebooted about halfway. Do you think the recovery has anything to do with it? As you stated, I can't wipe cache, but install log shows successful cache format and system complete... Thanks

Hi, did you used the modified boot for the right firmware? Did you downgraded your firmware from Nougat without wiping Data or restored Nougat Data on MM? Did you changed root method (SuperSu to Magisk)? As I know no problem with TWRP or boot. I got the same problem if I downgrade from N to MM without wiping Data.
@rrvuhpg

Hi! I was trying to root Nokia 1
I flash TWRP through fastboot and it worked! But the problem was I was unable to see my files there.I think because of encryption..
So, I accidentally factory reset my phone through TWRP and then, I was unable to boot into system again..
I was stuck in TWRP
So, I go to fastboot and flash stock_recovery.IMG and after that when I reboot. I am seeing a black screen. I can feel vibration when press home key or home + volume up/down. but screen is black
Please help...

Use micro SD card for twrp. You can't remove encryption just by factory reset. I know how to remove encryption on Nougat but that method doesn't work on Oreo. When you flashed TWRP flash SuperSU (not Magisk) then boot to system, after that boot to twrp recovery again and wipe factory reset and wipe internal storage. You have removed encryption. SuperSU needs to be updated to patch plat and non play file contexts to remove encryption on Oreo. Or someone can make flashable zip to remove encryption.
First find nb0 file for Nokia 1 and try to flash rom with OST.

currently it's not available, you need to wait someone to upload it.
Nokia1 uses MTK CPU right? If you can get the ota zip of the current update on your phone, you can extract the boot.img file then boot into download mode and type fast boot flash boot <boot.img file>

Stock Rom for 1047
Download it.
Extract boot.img from that
boot into download mode/recovery
adb reboot recovery
answers to all your questions.... not the answer to fix your problem I think... But have a go.
And last but not least... Please use the search option first or google instead of asking all questions at once.
Or try to get familiar with rooting first...…
good luck buddy.

Same here. Seems that the decryption does not work. Better make sure your phone is not encrypted before messing with twrp (3.2.3).
Be careful
Some Nokia 1 are a TA 1060 variant number and if you flash the wrong file you are going to have further problems.
The process to root and get TWRP on the nokias Is complicated enough without everyone suggesting wrong model variants / numbers.
I guarantee someone will download the wrong file for the wrong model and come here crying.
is this the real firmware?
