The only cab I can get to work is from:
androidonhtc (could not post the link)
How can I incorporate a self updating start up utility with this cab? Any idea why I cant get the newer versions to work any other USCC people having this problem? I do not have a SIM card at all. Even with the few things that do not work, it seems alot better than WM.
USCC specific instructions for HTC Touch Pro2
First, credit where credit is due. These instructions are just specific tweaks for US Cellular customers of the original FAQ http: //sites.google.com/site/androidport/faq by Reefermattness and the most effective method for US Cellular Data in http: //forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=113441&page=13 post 127 by clifftrue. You'll need to register on PPCGeeks to download files linked in this procedure. This procedure should save you a couple of days of reading and a few reboots in the process.
I have an HTC Touch Pro2 on US Cellular in Chicago. I don't have a SIM card. My phone has the FN in light blue, with SYM on the , key and : on the N key. Yes, Android is a huge improvement over WinMo. Here's what you want to do.
Go get a new SD card just for XD Android. 2GB is recommended.
Go to http: //sites.google.com/site/androidport/downloads and download the CAB - Android v2.2 Froyo: BLAZN (click where it says View). Copy that .CAB file to your new SD card.
Put the SD card in your phone. In WinMo, go to Programs, File Explorer. Open My Device, Storage Card, and open ProjectAndroid2.2BLAZN.072110 - this will install Project Android and extract the files onto your SD card. Reboot after the installation.
After the reboot, use your phone to dial ##778, then press View in the screen. Press View Info in the lower left corner, scroll down, and choose M.IP Default Profile. Write down your NAI (should be something like 2245551212 @ uscc.net). Hit OK in the upper left to exit.
Remove the SD card from your phone and put it back in your computer. Create a new folder called gscript in your Storage Card. Click http: //forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=64040&d=1269451299 to download the USCCFIX.txt. Put USCCFIX.txt into the Storage Card/gscript directory you just created. Double click on USCCFIX to open it with a text editor. In that file, in all three spots, carefully replace 6414251234 with the numeric part of your NAI that you wrote down. Save and Exit the text editor. Rename USCCFIX.txt to USCCFIX.sh
Click http: //gscript-android.googlecode.com/files/GScript.apk and download GScript. Copy that file (GScript.apk) to the Storage Card/andboot/AndroidApps directory.
Put the Storage Card back in your phone. Go to Programs, All Programs, and run Project Android. Make sure you're in Device Family: Rhodium, choose rhod400 for the keyboard layout, check the Force CDMA box, then press Run Android in the lower left.
This should be the first time you're booting Android on this storage card, so it will take a while. Once Android has started, press your Windows key, then choose Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, then On SD Card in the upper right. Install GScript if you find it there. If it's not there, that's fine. Press Downloaded in the upper left, and make sure GScript is there. Press the Power button on the top of your phone to exit the Settings screens.
Press the grid of squares at the bottom center of your display. Press GScript. Press the physical Windows key and select Add script, Load file. Tap the usccfix.sh file listed, and press Save. Now tap usccfix (only item in the list) to run it. After it runs, press the ‘Close’ button at bottom. You're back at the Android main screen. Hold down your End key, choose Power off and reboot your phone.
Your phone will reboot to WinMo. Again, go to Programs, All Programs, and run Project Android. It should remember Rhodium and rhod400 for the keyboard layout, but you'll need to check the Force CDMA box. Press run Android in the lower left. Once Android starts, it will take a few minutes for it to connect to the data network. When you see the 3G icon up by the battery meter at top, you're set.
And finally, avoid any Marketplace apps that say they "prevent sleep mode." They'll cause the Sleep of Death (SoD) that everyone finds so frustrating.
I'm new, so I can't use hyperlinks until I'm unlocked by a mod. Once I am, I'll fix the hyperlinks.
Could an 8gb sd card cause a problem?
My data was working fine on my older version of android, will taking all of these steps help me get Froyo? I think when I have tried to install it in the past, the install has been unsuccessful, I will try it tom. and let all the other USCC users know.
Should my M.IP Default Profile # be the same as my phone number?
I got it working thanks so much for your help, how long are you able to use it on a charge? Is there somewhere that I can update it automatically have you had any luck with that?
q&a
Your last three posts were all in 30 min. If you were able to install Android and run it in 30 min, then that's about as tight a procedure as anyone could want.
Somewhere I read that 2GB was the max for the Touch Pro 2, but the official site doesn't give a limit. Did you use an 8GB SD card?
Your M.IP Default Profile will be your phone number if you've never moved it from another carrier. If you originally had a phone number on AT&T, for example, and you moved it to US Cellular, then your M.IP Default Profile will be a different number.
As Reefermattness says on the main thread ( http: //forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997 ), the battery meter is about 50% working right now. You'll get about the same battery life as when you're running WinMo, but Android will bother you about low battery well before you're really running low. I've made a couple of calls and run for over two hours in Android with my battery meter in the red. There's a big risk of the battery not ever taking another charge if you drain it entirely, so don't do that unless you're ready to buy a new battery.
No, Android won't update automatically between builds. Hopefully this procedure makes each fresh installation as fast as possible. Good luck!
The only SD card I have have is an 8gb. When I looked up my M.IP Default Profile, it was not my number and this phone has only been on USCC, I bought it on Black Friday. Do you think it is a return that someone else may have had? Are they getting billed for my data usage?
When you click the PA icon, the bottom left soft has an update option. Have you tried this? I know it will not auto update, but it might on demand? Thanks again for all of your help.
M.IP Default Profile is specific to the US Cellular network. It's not usually your phone number, which is why you have to find it with ##778. No, your M.IP Default Profile is not any one else's number, and no one else is getting billed for your data.
I've updated apps with an automatic notification, but you still need to manually upgrade to a new version of android manually.
When you click the PA icon, then click the left soft key, update. This gives you the option of zImage/rootfs/ and intrd.gz. Did not know if this works. I guess you would have wait for a new release to try it.

You're using the BLAZN build? From when? Last release of that was... 9.28.2010 IIRC.
Please update.

Hi All,
I have purchased a 2 DIN Chinese Car Audio System from Chinavision which runs on two OS's. WinCE and Android 4.0.4. The WINCE Partition apparently runs hardware for Bluetooth Handsfree calling etc, USB port for external USB memory/storage (media), 1 x micro SD crd marked on the box as GPS (to store the GPS maps due to internal memory size limitations (4Gb standard with 8Gb upgrade by manufacturer), DTV, analogue radio, 1 x USB that when hubbed will connect to ext drives usb memory sticks while also being read and utilised for wifi dongle/3g dongle (controlled by android OS). The WinCE UI is uite poor with clumsy controls and limited user interface actions.
The Android OS is a little better however seems quite unstable. often hanging and freezing, loss of data from storage, app remnants following uninstalling apps. This OS controls, USB media access, 1 x SC card, 3G and Wifi (though not phone use on 3g as it always freezes and required a hard power down (disconnection of batters/power).
For one or two posts I can see there are others here that have such systems and serge/Gibroid is mentions however I don't seem to be able to get contact..
My questions/goals are to replace the systems android firmware with a smoother running, more stable build of ROM whilst keeping the original functionality (at least) and maybe (if possible) to add the functionality that is missing within the android OS.. such as Bluetooth access, phone access for calls etc..
Also, if at all possible, to upgrade/replace the WinCE OS with a more user friendly version, with a better UI, and the functionality of the original if not better. Basically opening this system to its full potential.
Now, I have to say I am a noob and am not knowledgeable nor experienced at this sort of thing (I have flashed a few phones etc) so would need to know
1) where to get the firmwares
2) where to get the required installation software
3) how to install via sd card input/external storage input as the unit seems not to be able to be connected to a PC
4) how to do a complete system image backup and how to restore should it all go horribly wrong
and
5) step by step instructions on how to do it.. or if a user out there is local and can do it I'd come to you and get it done that way.. (and compensate for your time and expertise)
The system/car unit is liveable as it is (just) but it has the hardware in it that means it is capable of so much more.
Anyone out there that can help??
Cheers

Hi,
My N708 also has the same issues, unfortunately I have not been able to use none of serg090909 images to improve my android system.
I have noticed that my system works better if I don't turn it off and on using the button on my stereo, I almost always reconnects fine if i just turn the car's key.
I have also discovered that the volume between the two systems is very different, if you play music, audio-books or use the Gps you will notice a huge difference in volume between the two systems... I'm using a volume booster to soften the difference.
I too am searching for something that can improve the WinCe side... it sucks... My bluetooth phone app is just useless! (I'm not able to synchronize any contacts).
You can go here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607632) to find out how to make an image of your system (at least of its android side).
Cheers

Hi
I have the same system.
I am currently talking with the seller to try and sort the unfortunate bug I keep getting. The android part stops accepting touch screen input. Happens when I initially boot the system by switching the car on and will only clear if I power it down for 25 seconds then power up. The android side then reboots.
You can reinstall-initialize the android side by removing your key, holding the reset button down, inserting key and starting car while holding down the reset button, hold for 10 seconds, then release and turn on the stereo. When you go into the GPS/android side after that, you will be asked to calibrate the screen again and the android startup wizard begins.
I managed to get the Gibroid system running, so ask me any questions you have about doing that. It gives a much nicer, larger storage space android section, but I still suffer from the android side not accepting screen input when i start the car 50% of the time.
I agree the bluetooth functionality in the WINCE part is borderline criminal with no sorting of phone book. Would love to be able to tinker with it.

Hi,
You say you were able to get the gibroid working on your system can you explain to me how and what you did? I use all the tools that are recommended apart from thelivesuit, It simply doesn't accept any of the gibroid img files available here and on 4PDA that I was able to find. The touch screen on my unit just binks (black on black). I also have tried maybe 5 different sd cards.
Thanks in advance for your help.
P.S. At the moment my system doesn't even work it just gets stuck on the android (word) screen.
Cheers

i have same problem stuck on Android loading screen how to hard rest with recovery mode ?
what is the combination for go to in recovery ?
Just started this thread for all to share their experience with RemixOS.
My PC specs:
*Processor - i3 (1st Gen)
*8GB DDR3 RAM
*nVidia Quadro K2000 graphics
*Belkin USB WiFi dongle
1. I got an error as stated by some people here....about the CPU being unknown.
2. It froze while "Turning on wifi" (or something) during the installation. I had to force reboot. Sadly, no wifi.
3. Completed the setup after the reboot.
3. Installed CSR2 (a racing game...to test system performance) but froze again at the opening logo. It happens too in the alpha but only after about 5~10 mins into the game.
4. Intermittent popup notifying that a program (which i launched) is not responding...with 2 buttons to 'wait' or 'close'. Didn't have that in the alpha.
Gonna try looking around and see if it can be rectified. PhoenixOS is way more stable....no freezing/hanging issues but the graphics suck.
Running into a super weird problem. I've gotten the beta working on my Acer c720 Chromebook and Macbook Air (Via USB boot) without any issues, and really enjoying the stability and speed increase. However, when trying to boot into Remix on my main Laptop (Which worked with the Alpha, albeit with resolution issues.) things start fine, boots normally, resolution corrects itself, shows me the desktop and I can move the mouse and acts completely normal for about 15 seconds before giving up and rebooting again and going into a death loop. I've tried this with fresh installs, different sticks and the USB that I've been using on the Chromebook/Mac (Thinking the initial setup was causing a problem possibly.) but with the same effect.
I'm not seeing anyone reporting these sorts of issues (Since my laptop can actually boot and load Remix, just not keep it open) and I was wondering if anyone else was running into this issue or could know of any solutions. Thanks!
Just got this treadmill and it’s basically a 23” android tablet connected to the treadmill. Thanks to another thread here, I managed to get into “privilege mode” which allows you to access the android shell and settings. For others looking for this info, instructions to get into this mode are
1. In the ifit app go into settings
2. Tap on maintenance
3. In the blank space below the maintenance settings, tap rapidly, around 10-20 times
4. “Privileged mode” will show up as a message at the bottom of the screen
5. Swipe up from the bottom edge and you will see the android taskbar, tap on the circle and you will go to home, now you can access android settings
I do not know how to turn off this mode. However it seems to be ok, only difference is that the treadmill will boot to android home, then launch the ifit app, which may be disconcerting to some SO sharing the device.
Now on to the hard part, it’s running 7.1.2, so I assume after going into settings and turning on install from other sources, I could side load. Nope, browser crashes every time when I try to download something, eg apk file.
There is no user accessible USB port, any idea what I should do or side load stuff like Netflix? YouTube on the browser seems to work though.... any help here would be much appreciated!!

Wow. I have the 2017 version of the 2950 that has Android 5.1.1 along with an external USB A female port and a (useless) female HDMI out port that should allow hard wire video / audio to a nearby HDMI input capable device.
I, too have privleged mode active per a tech support call a while back. Anyway, let me say that a while ago I nearly bricked mine trying to sideload a few APK's, so be ready to assume the responsibility for anything that may happen. You should be able to get to the browser in the OS and go to Google.com and sign in... this will let you get to Drive and Gmail and grab any APK's you've parked there from a PC or whatever?
Hey, do you have WiFi for 2.4GHz only or maybe 5.8GHz as well? Just curious, not that it will help me at all... I have a USB-A to Ethernet dongle that refuses to work with the console's USB port . My 2.4 connectivity is garbage.
This is ironic. I opened the built in browser and was going to sign into google to grab an APK of Google Home... all of a sudden I see Privilege Mode Removed (or something like that) pop up and the iFit app stared up. Now the 2950 fires up quicker like it did when new. SO bizarre!
