The Amazon Instant Video APK has been pulled from the Kindle Fire and can be installed on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
A couple of caveats:
(1) To use the Prime Instant video features, you must first purchase something to login. There is no separate login otherwise.
(2) It appears to only work over wifi
(3) If your device is rooted, it will not work.

It FC's on me on my Tab 7 plus when I try to purchase.

Google I/O 10.1 Galaxy Tab
It installed and works fine, however every time I click on a video free or paid, I get a FC.
Has anyone found a work around?
same thing for me: installs fine b FC's wh I try to click a free or paid vid.
Same here on Toshiba Thrive. Installs fine, but fc on purchase.

Why post this? 99.99 % of us are rooted. Maybe we can fix it to work for rooted devices?
Also it doesn't work. FCS EVERYWHERE

Umm...for the simple fact that you can use Voodoo OTA temp unroot from the Market. Also the new version of this APK in todays 6.2 update doesnt work. It says this device is not suppose to be able to run Amazon Video Player.
I assume Amazon is cracking down...

Never heard of temp unroot, thanks, but yeah, as of late, amazon released a fire update, ruining everyones root on the fire and deleting the market. Probably part of that updated.
Pr0tip: This works on Gingerbread but not on HoneyComb.
Bunch of hypocrites, they sell root only apps
http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/some_amazon_appstore_apps_require_rooting_att_need_not_apply/
installs and runs great on hp touchpad. however on purchase and login i get the following: Error linking device: Unknown error
What do you mean it runs great? I get to the point of seeing the button to play the video, but it is grayed out. I can play Amazon videos fine on my Exhibit II by temporarily unrooting the stock OS. It seems Cyanogenmod is somehow detected, because it doesn't work on my Nook Color with the Cyanogenmod either.

whoever wrote this article obviously has never had the balls to root a device and actually see what is possible, or even research it for that matter
I have the apk that allows me to play the videos for free that come with the amazon prime account (I signed up for a free month), but I don't see how to 'borrow' a book for free - this also comes with the prime account on kindle devices. Anyone have any information on how to do this on a Galaxy Tab?
Only Kindle devices can borrow books for free with the Prime membership. (you borrow directly from the device)
Two things. One KFHD looks for the device to be logged into amazon, I bet this requires framework not on our devices. Two, probably crashes when trying to view due to same.
Bottom line? Besides logcats to figure things out, I'm pretty sure a system dump will be needed to get the correct files to go with this......

And which apk would that be? I can browse (which is kind of nice) but like everyone, crashes when trying to play.

Same thing happens to me! ?
You don't need to temp in root either. There's an xposed module called root cloak that let's you pick specific apps to hide root from. Works great
I've been trying to sideload some games such as Asphalt 6 and Gangstar Miami Vindication but i haven't been able to get them to work. Has anyone been able to get these to work or have installed other great games?
I have asphalt 6 hd running perfectly, however i did buy it when it was 10 cents. so the issue may be in license verification. but to be sure, try to download the app again from a different website(4shared, mediafire, etc)
Make sure to add .apk when you search for an app. for example if you search Asphalt 6 HD, you type it like, Aspahlt 6 HD.apk
the .apk the type of file android uses for apps/games.
P.S. sorry if you already knew all of that stuff^ just trying to help

See when it was 10 cents it said my Nook Tablet was not compatible. So i got the apk and after i installed it it said it had to download the game files and when i started the download it just force closes.
i bought the app through my phone and then went to my nook and check the my apps part of the market it was shown and installed through there.
try clearing data for the app
Well at least i know it's possible, now to find an apk that actually works...
I have Asphalt 6: Adrenaline on my Captivate. It runs ok usually, but some times it gets very choppy and unplayable. I want to try it on my NT. I could not find it on the Market of Amazon App Store so I used Titanium Backup and Dropbox to back up, move the files, and restore. The app shows up on the NT but when you I try to open it, it says that it is not compatible and that I should request a refund.
My NT is on 1.4.0, rooted (Nook&Zergy) with OTAs blocked.
Has anyone figured out how to get this game working?

Did you reboot?
You can also try side loading an older version of the app. I'm sure you can find one on the interwebs...
Yep. Tried turning off and on again. No joy.
No offence want the latest version as it has the most recent levels.
Anyone else got any ideas please?

I am not specifically familiar with the app/game/program that you are referring to, so if what I am about to suggest turns out to be complete rubbish, please feel free to ignore it completely. Here goes anyway, just in case it might turn out to somehow be useful !!
I sideloaded Better Terminal Emulator (a GREAT app & also one of my most favorite root-aware apps !!). Whenever I would start it up, it would run just fine, as long as I did *not* attempt to open the KFHDX keyboard. As soon as the built-in keyboard was activated, BTE would immediately crash & close. As you might guess, any terminal emulator program is basically worthless without keyboard input !! However (so this is where you might want to try the same thing, if "keyboard" applies in your specific case), when I use an external BT keyboard, BTE continues to run as great as it always has . . . problem averted !! [ now if I could just get my root access back with the latest formware ]
HTH !!
Good luck & have fun !!

With stock AMZ FW, you can also run into issues with some apps that use any DL service other than AMZ. Which is why many paid Play Store apps will force close, like GTA SA, which will fail to open or crash unless you use the KF version.

Pet Rescue Saga is a free game and unavailable on the amazon app market. I have it on my non-rooted kindle fire HD (v7.4.8 FW) and it works fine on that.

Hi. Sorry - that link isn't working for me for some reason?
Is it working for others?
Thanks
Thanks so much for the great video - really appreciate. I'm just stuck at knowing what software to use to access the fire with that black screen/green text. Can you let me know. Thanks! :good:
It worked!!!!!
Thank you so much. All I need to do now is work out how to get read my Kindle book launch on the Go Launcher. I think that can only be done on the stock launcher?
Don't suppose anyone has any success with the Kindle Reading App on another launcher?
Thanks again - really appreciate it.
Sorry- not sure how to edit the thread name to Solved?

One last question re. Go Launcher on the Fire. Does anyone know how to add widgets to it. When I click Add and select system widgets, select the widget and then try and add it, it just keeps going to the system settings screen. Is there any option i've missed that says allow widgets?
Thanks again for the help - appreciate it.

Can I just check your Amazon appstore is working OK? I bought an app from the Amazon website but when I go to the appstore to install it, its not working right. I can't access any of my purchased apps - whenever I select library either nothing happens or it goes back to the home screen

It looks like they are all working apart from the paid one. I will try and transfer it via the Amazon website to pc via usb. Thanks
Seems to be working now, Thanks
Just to update. It only seems to deliver free apps. I purchased an app and have sent to the kindle a few times but it's not showing

funny. I might look at it some tomorrow. I could make a hacked version of the common amazon app store. That could work.

Great. Thanks!
I tired this with Nova from Windows. After much fighting to get it to recognise the device as an ADB interface, I dropped into the shell and ran the command as suggested. It returned
Code:
Package amazon.kindle.otter new blocked state: true
but it still prompts for the launcher choice. Tried rebooting the Fire but no change.
EDIT: Idiot-mode engaged. I forgot the com.
Thanks again, and especially for the Google Apps hack.
Has anyone who has the Fire Nexus ROM run into this error when trying to use Amazon Underground? The App Store isn't loading at all, I have it installed on my 2013 Nexus 7 with stock Marshmallow and it works fine. The odd thing is that it was working for the week or so when I started using this ROM instead of stock FireOS. I attached two screenshots for reference.

Another contributor recently reported the same error and I was able to duplicate it on my identical device that has been running the app for months. Chalked it up to a glitch on Amazon's end. Today it is fine. Build 8.1.106.4-1.
Edit: app is now indicating an update is available then can't find it (no upgrade available). So it appears some issues remain.

The store is still useful to manage and to update your previously installed apps. Workaround - to install new apps using Amazom in browsers.
yeah, thank you! That worked. Funny though, that Navigon doesn't show up.
Whatever, Navigon on that tablet would've been "only fiddling around a bit" anyways.
