6.0 update on xt1526? - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to take the ota from lets say Canadian XT1524 and alter it to update the US XT1526? Or the rom and just flash that rom on the us variant?

Yes, you can do that. You could flash Surnia Marshmallow stock roms from other variants as well. Just do not flash the bootloader or modem.

There are Euro or Asian stock roms around, I believe in all 3 flavors (5.0, 5.1, 6.0) that should be GSM.

Question about International Roms

Hey guys, just a quick question. I am coming from the att s2 and I know you had to have a process to convert the s2 international roms to work on the att version. Do we have to do that on the htc one att version?
Can I flash international roms and have everything working ok? will i need to install any different modems or any other fixes?

your device has to have recieved the 1.27.531.8 OTA for it to be able to accept the 11
So is there any way to get this while running CM 10 nightly builds?

Do I need to flash it again?
OP stated that it is radio of 11, it didn't say it's radio of 8 in order to flash to 11. What am I doing wrong?

Anybody having problems with AOSP builds and this radio? I've been having non-stop connectivity issues, I'm hoping it's just an RIL issue. Keep getting no data, then data but no connection, then no signal at all in places where I had H+ without issues in the past.

edit: Working on T-Mo in Dallas, but I don't have LTE at my house to test. Will need to go out later to test LTE. HSDPA is working as expected.

I can confirm that flashing the radio didn't do much, however, flashing an entire firmware package did make my lte reception stronger. Also, if I flash any other Rom other than .11, lte reverts back to being subpar.

Well I get that, the question is since it was possible to flash a GE ROM with s-on for 4.3 why not 4.4. Mainly because I and a few others out there can not seem to get s-off.

No one knows why 4.4 GPE won't work on s-on phones. If you want stock android, then I suggest flashing an aosp rom.

You forgot to tell us what ROMs you are referring to?
Find out if your bootloader is locked. If it isn't, then most custom ROMs should work for you. If you have a locked bootloader, then you can probably emulate some ROMs using the Safestrap program that is popular on Verizon.

Are we to assume an LS990 since you're in the sprint forum? If that's the case, share your successful unlock method.

I believe you cannot since different variants have some differences between them. You would have to flash sprint based rom and then reunlock it.

I thought there was a hardware difference to, but I believe it's the location of things on the file system is different too.

Some have successfully used the Cloudy ROM which is based on an international variant, but you need to read up as the LS990 requires some additional detail. Check out the non-carrier specific forums and the Sprint specific Questions and Troubleshooting.

sold my G3 now i've got note 4.
You could try cloudy g3 (on the international thread) but IT ONLY WORKS ON GSM NETWORKS NOT SPRINT. ITS NOT MY FAULT IF YOU BREAK YOUR PHONE(S).

Minor hardware differences exist even between ls990's. But mainly the boot.img, kernels are definitely different between g3 variants. Not by much but enough where they each require a different config file when building. Modems play a role as well but I'm not sure to what degree if yours is unlocked. However I know from trying that if I flash another variant's rom, I get a secure boot error, no matter what I wipe before flashing - which is the kernel. There isn't any harm in just trying as long as you have a nandroid to restore but I was never successful getting international or even verizon roms to boot on the ls990.
Different variants use different Bluetooth chipsets, too, so even if you get an international ROM to work BT might not work.
