I had recently using this OS for a month and i have discovered many things...
I have done these steps from this link, disabling box mode and wallpaper lock using ALT+F1/F7 from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/remixos-overlay-apps-faq-tips-hints-t3332275
OS im using is RemixOS 32bit version 2.0.201 March 15 2016. from this OP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/remix-os-pc-hacked-edition-ota-v2-0-201-t3345968
Live Wallpaper im using is Amazing GIF Art Pro with SaitamaOk.gif as a background
This method requires root and an edited init.rd (the hard way) or if you dont want to root it or editing the init.rd just edit just simple two lines from the build.prop with RMXTools.exe from windows, (the easiest windows way with unrooted RemixOS). Unpack system.img edit it with a notepad at windows and search for folders system__/system/build.prop
ro.remixos.box=false
ro.no_wallpaper=false
If appears at true change it at false.
Repack system.img and place it on where you installed RemixOS (On pendrives i had to use Ubuntu Live CD to move it into the 2nd partition)
Any third party launcher will enable livewallpaper, but requires those two lines at false parameters
But with default launcher I have downloaded this app from playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BenPaul.LiveWallShortcut&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dlive+wallpaper+shortcut+apk+play+store&pcampaignid=APPU_1_pa76VuPIOcjNesf_v9gK
It takes you this menu, hope it helps!
Update: The latest RemixOS update March 31, 2016. RemixOS Version 2.0.202 it comes without ro.no_wallpaper on its build.prop. In other words there's no need to modify the whole OS if you really want the Live Wallpaper feature from the last link from playstore i ve sent... But if you want another launcher that is not Jide's disable remix box.
Enjoy XDA peeps

How did you get the live wallpaper working with the default launcher? Can you give me some instructions? Thanks.

Let me edit the OP since this method requires root, and needs editing init.rd to enable mounting the system as rw and its more recommended using ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to edit build.prop
32bit is more recommended. why not 64bit? Cuz has problems with root access <.<
For 64bit its highly recommended using RMXTools.exe from windows if you want to edit build.prop to edit two lines which its called
ro.remixos.box=false
ro.no_wallpaper=false
if you dont want to use RMXTools on the 64bit version use the Systemless root from the first link i ve redirected.
32bit version is not available yet so i ve used this remixOS 32bit build
http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/remix-os-pc-hacked-edition-ota-v2-0-201-t3345968/
> ro.no_wallpaper=false at my 32bit remix os wont appear at my build.prop (remixOS 32bit hacked version), you have to add this line to enable live wall paper feature.
>ro.remixos.box will appear as =true, change it to =false, it opens experimental features from past remixOS
Please refer from the first link i ve posted. That guy will help you a lot, but requires massive editing your operative system.
edited init.rd grants the system.img mounts as rw
its CRITICALLY recommended to backup your init.rd to your computer (to avoid kernel panics)
Once you are done editing those two lines, replace it back to your stock kernel.
thanks.
It will appear like this on your stock build.prop
change it as false on both
Update: The newest update from RemixOS version 2.0.202, doesn't need to edit the build.prop anymore. It comes without ro.no_wallpaper. So install that app directly from playstore and you will have live wallpaper shortcut app without modding the whole RemixOS thing.
Thanks Jide for making my life easier.

[UTILITY][10-18-2011] APK Manager for Mac OS X, Intel only, v1.2.1
This is from the more general Android Development section of XDA. I thought that some of you here may like it to work on mods for our NOTE's apps.

So almost everyone here should be pretty familiar with android, and that means you've probably heard of (and maybe even used yourself) the windows tool APK Manager by fellow XDA member Daneshm90.
Earlier this year I started to port the current windows 4.9 version to mac using the outdated linux script for a base. And I had some early success at the time with simply using macports to install sox, optipng, etc. And then my computer crashed (double drive failure back in July) and I gave up for the time being. Recently though I was excited to find that someone else tried to do the same thing, XDA member MAD Industries released a very basic port for mac.
Sadly though, a quick diff of his script and the outdated linux version shows that its not much of a port at all. In fact there were only 9 changes, purely for MAD Industries to add his credit lines, and disable the options to optimize png images, and ogg files.
And so a couple of weeks ago I started working (once again) on my own port of APK Manager for Mac OS X.
Since I used the MAD Industries version originally for my base, I have kept his credit in the readme.txt, though to be honest, I've undone every single change he made, and changed virtually every line in the original linux script. And on top of that, I've written over 1700 new lines of code to not only bring this current to the windows feature set, but exceed it in many ways.
I've built in 32/64-bit architecture checking, and compiled and include the required missing binaries to re-enable optimizing png images and ogg files. I'm also including a .terminal file for easily configuring the default display, and a copy of my NEW favorite fixed-width font, Bitstream Vera Sans Mono.
And now some notes, and requests:
PLEASE note: this is currently INTEL only, but it supports both 32-bit and 64-bit all-in-one with architecture checking built-in to the script.
PLEASE note: if your computer is running OS X 10.7.X, "Lion" then it does not include a java runtime by default, please download it here first: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421
PLEASE note: due to the length of some of the strings used in the menus, etc., in order to not need to scroll your terminal window, you must adjust your default columns and rows settings. You can set this automatically by using the include "JocelynCustom.terminal" file, and you can also find simple instructions to set this yourself in the README.txt
PLEASE read the included readme for installation and very basic (for right now) usage instructions. I welcome any and all feedback on improvements for the readme file.
PLEASE report any and all bugs or generally wonky behavior, preferrably by posting here in this thread, or by posting a comment back on my blog.
LASTLY, please if you re-post this anywhere else, including blogs, other forums, etc. I would greatly appreciate if you would at least give me credit, and link back to my blog (http://girlintroverted.wordpress.com/) or at the very least, link back here to this post.
IMPORTANT: Starting with v0.9.7/RC1 I'm including an applescript setup applet. I've also changed some directory names, removed some old files, added new files and changed location of some files. Please backup your existing APKManager directory, then unzip and setup the new version. Once you verify that it works, then you can copy the CONTENTS of the following old directories, to the new ones.
place-apk-here-for-modding -> place-here-for-modding
place-apk-here-for-signing -> place-here-for-signing
place-here-to-batch-optimize -> place-here-to-batch-optimize
place-ogg-here -> place-ogg-here
projects -> projects
DO NOT COPY OVER THE CONTENTS OF THE "other" directory or the root directory unless you absolutely know what you're doing.

- place the apk in /multi-tool/place-apk-here-for-modding/
- run Script.bat in /multi-tool
- type 22
- select apk by number
- type 9 to decompile
- make changes in the folder of your apk in /multi-tool/projects/
- type 11 to compile
- type "y" (yes) for first question and "n" for second question
- go into /multi-tool/place-apk-here-for-modding/
- open your new unsingedBLABLA.apk with winrar or something else
- delete "META-INF" and "AndroidManifest.xml"
add these files from the original ...
- rename like you want and have fun.
- if you getting errors, your modifying was wrong. you can see the error in /multi-tool/log.txt
- if you want to make more changes again in /multi-tool/projects/
you have to delete "build"-folder before recompiling...
this should work for every normal apk..
sure there are some other apk's like lidroid-res.apk. then it is not so easy, you will need another how-to... but if it is a difficult apk like this, you will get a error already while decompiling...

there are many solutions.
Thank you guys it worked
I've made myself an extended powermenu for 2.3.3 (XXKG3)
I am currently trying to run Ubuntu chrooted and I all I get when I connect to the chrooted session through any vnc viewer is a blank grey screen with a small x in the middle. I"m using Complete Linux Installer from the market. I have tried with CM7, Nottachtrix, and Neutrino. They all give me the same result. Is there any way I can fix this? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Here's a couple screenshots

P.S. I typed exit AFTER taking the previous two screebshots.
you have to change the VNC geometry to the same res and colour as your screen.. ie 960x540 with 16/24bit colours (not 100% sure about the colours) make sure to delete you previous vnc sessions as they for some reason clash with the new ones
I have already been using those settings. Thanks anyways
.
I been trying also lately
same results as above same screenshots

I don't know if I should be glad or scared that such a great dev like you can't figure it out either. x]
What I do know is that the problem lies somewhere on the Ubuntu side since I was able to connect to my brothers laptop through VNC.
If you are using tightvncserver you should edit the xstartup file in the .vnc folder to include the startup script for whatever window manager you want to run. For xfce, you would add
startxfce4
to the bottom of the xstartup file.
The xstartup file is only going to exist once you have ran the server once.
This is happening because tightvncserver cannot automatically guess what window manager you want to run.
above post is correct.. the black screen with X is usually a problem with "X" in u know what i mean... if you havnt started any desktop environments then you would get this error..
PS. please do tell me if you get it to work if the keyboard works properly... i have ubuntu running on my Dell Streak but the keyboard mapping is all wrong and i havnt been able to fix the problem, i really dont want to remap all the keys manually

Where exactly is the xstartup file? I was about to mount the img on Ubuntu. I just couldnt find the xstartup file. If it was in the root folder, I was unable to open it because of some permission denied error I kept getting.

Have you tried using a different VNC viewer app? Or changing the language in Ubuntu? It might have changed to some other language.
U need to chmod 775 the startx file
Yea I've tried all the vnc viewer it's all the same.
Greetings my fellow geeks
I would like to share my small part-time project I've been working on on the last few weeks.
I would've liked to post it in the Windows 11 dedicated thread, but well... there isn't any at the time of writing this
That said, this project is still in a very early stage of development, as of yet barebones (but I have many plans to expand it), and I even was too lazy to remove the default Flutter logo and icon... so consider it a pre-alpha; but hey, it works!
This may not sound like a "few weeks in development" project, but I had to implement a way to read an Android apk icon from scratch and that's what I spent most of my time with.
At the moment the application allows you to install any .apk package on WSA (by associating .apk files to the executable), as well as providing a convenient shortcut to the Android settings and the "Manage Applications" section (otherwise only accessible via console commands). It also has a few options (android port and light/dark theme).
More features are on the way, and I plan to show way more information on the installer (eg. app permissions, option to downgrade a package etc...)
The app is open source and available to download here

It most likely means WSA is shut off, try opening an Android app (eg. Amazon Appstore) to boot it up, or set it to never shut down automatically in WSA options (not recommended)
You must also make sure to enable Android developer mode (also in WSA settings)
EDIT: now that I'm reading your comment again, you said you have Windows 10, did you manage to install WSA there?

It requires WSA, so I guess it's not strictly Win11 as long as you manage to install WSA on Windows 10 (I have no idea whether you can and how)
This app just provides a GUI for apk installation, but depends on the Android subsystem

thank you.i think its need win11.
Thank you very much for translating the app into Hebrew.
For some reason all the time it disconnects from me and gives the wrong port impression.
How could it not register it for me.
And is it possible to give support in APKS
Thank you.

This module removes the restriction when selecting folders (Downloads/Android) through the file manager on Android 11 and higher (also available as a Magisk module through Fox Module Manager)
2.0 Update
* Enabled Managed Mode on the DocumentsUI (make sure to apply the module to the Files/Documents app)
* This change allows selecting /data and /obb folders on the Android folder (where as before they were hidden)
### Note
The signature has changed on this version so you'll have to uninstall the previous version before updating

This works brilliantly - better than the Magisk module! Thank you!
Hey, thanks for this, first time poster here, tried installing this on my Xperia xz2c (lineage-19.1-20221111) but couldn't get it to work, folders remain inaccessible when trying to move files... Any way you could share a .zip of this to install via Magisk?

Thanks for getting back to me. Sure thing, here goes:
As you can see, the "data" folder and the "obb" folder are missing. By the way, the first time I tried to move stuff, immediately after installing the app, those folders were actually visible as intended, but once I quit the moving process and tried a second time (and from that moment on) this is what I get

Oh, that's a different restriction (imposed by a different app)
My module is mainly to allow granting access to folders (downloads/Android) where it would normally tell you to create a new folder and not allow you to select that folder
The data/obb folders being hidden is a different thing
You could try this zip, tho it's a bit sloppily made, so i can't guarantee it'll work
