Don't do this bro, look majority of people don't perform insane tricks on their android devices and if you research a bit deep about booloaders and security it provides you will understand that locked bootloaders are good actually. And when it comes to unlocking of motorola devices their process is really simple, you don't have to fill an application answering chinese questions for why you are unlocking your device, which is the case for Xiaomi.
Why don't you make a petition to motorola for releasing the blank flash file using which people can unbrick their hard bricked moto e?? We together can make "hard bricking" a thing of past! isn't it?
P.S. Are you facing any problem in getting an unlock code from motorola to unlock bootloader of moto e?

For those that do perform insane tricks on their phones like me, you should be able to unlock the bootloader! Forcing the device to stay locked is not nice! Those that don't do insane tricks don't have much to worry about.

Motorola won't do this anyway.
Why would any company want to increase their hassle?
Bootloaders are locked in order to protect critical system components from modification.
Those who feel like handling the situation has already an "Unlock" option. Isn't it?(except some variants)
That's why "Unlocking" exist. If anyone wants to modify can unlock and modify else it's just locked to protect.

I am not petitioning for Motorola to ship devices already unlocked, I just want them to allow the "un-eligible" devices to be unlocked.

I Agree with you DNALogic, I would too rather sign a petiton for releasing Blank Flash File rather than unlocking Bootloader.

And for you FanboyStudios, If u are not aware there is a very simple procedure you can follow to get your device Bootloader unlocked. There's absolutely no need to make petitions for at least unlocking a bootloader! You can do this on your OWN!
Here's a link to a video guide to help you out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DGlZLWX0vk
(Note: Procedure is lengthy and DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. Just Follow Instructions and you'll be Good to go!)
:good:

Few things to note

AlstonGomez you see the guy does "Insane Tricks" Lol
Now Fanboy, if you can do so much of this insane tricks why can't you do just do a single sane trick to unlock your bootloader?
And if you are talking about any motorola device of which unlock is not available then post this petition for that device and that too in forums dedicated to that device itself, In moto e's case it's really easy to get unlock, roms, xposed, kernels and other Insane tricks.
P.S. AlstonGomez & FanboyStudios if you really wanna see the real insane thing then head over to my thread where I have wrote how my moto e commited suicide and how I am not able to bring it to life because of that just one damn flash file, also note I didn't do anything to kill it. And all this happened because I unlocked the bootloader at first place, now if moto e came unlocked then some evil app developer might have exploited the thing which causes to certain death of device and release it over internet leaving most of moto e dead.

HELP!! I have a Moto E XT1021 from Cricket, and it doesn't qualify for unlocking bootloader from the Motorola website. nor can I gain root with any other methods without unlocking the bootloader. Rooting my device is all I'm interested in. Has anyone found away around this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....

If unlocking downloader is not possible then as of now there is no way to root.

Yes, help! Cricket has released the Moto e xt1021 to Walmart and the bootloader is not supported for unlock. Please, this is a nightmare! It doesn't work right and it has 4.4.4-7 on it already! The people of Walmart need help. This is a disaster!
Any idea why Cricket/Walmart have this policy? Is there a link to a statement about it?
I just bought a Moto-E from Ting and unlocked the bootloader without a problem. Return the phone and sign up with Ting. It is potential a cheaper option anyway.
me too

At&t owns aio /cricket. At&t refuses to participate in Motorola unlock program. They are a real stick in the mud. Well, that's fine. We don't have any rebels here anymore. I suppose the days of doing things like this just to say you did them are coming to an end. Maybe Sunshine will update. I hope AT&T GOES OUT OF BUSINESS. I am a humble ewok, I am no match for the Death Star. All I can do is put my phone in airplane mode and throw it at them; like a rock.
Sunshine may support it when the 3.0 version comes out.
Is anyone willing to experiment with their phone a bit at the risk of bricking it? PM me! I wanna try to get this thing rooted.

I got one of these today. It goes back tomorrow to be replaced with one that is NOT Cricket (AT&T) or Verizon. I got it for $52.00 after tax and it would be WELL worth the extra cash IF any to get one that can be rooted. AT&T might as well merge with Apple. It is a match made in Hell.
So...
Bump, with info.
What about this? http : // blog.azimuthsecurity.com/2013/04/unlocking-motorola-bootloader . html (I would have made it into a link, but I'm new... all I did was add spaces)
I don't know much about phones but if there was a way to issue a command to blow the appropriate q-fuse, it should (in theory) unlock the bootloader right then and there, allowing the whole rooting process to happen... I just don't know what commands to issue or how to do so. Could someone smarter than I am please look into this? While I'd rather not brick my phone I'd be willing to test a couple of things if need be... (Moto E second gen). The author of that post seems to have actually been successful in unlocking a bootloader that way, but I don't have such extensive knowledge.
I spent a good two and a half hours with Cricket, going around and around. They are NOT owned by AT&T, they just use their towers. Or at least that's what two different representatives from some call center said. *shrug* I still think they're in bed with each other, so they're still crap any way you slice it.

Because Cricket belongs to AT&T, and AT&T are the spawn of the devil.
If it's good for the consumer, AT&T are against it.
I feel like we can get somewhere with this article:

I've tried downloading the code, installing Python, and executing the script, but I get a syntax error on line 45. I know practically nothing about Python, so I'm stuck, but I'm hoping there are some expertise here that can help.
Help unlocking bootloader for XT1021 Cricket variant
Has anyone come up with a fix for this? I have the same problem - replaced my broken older Samsung with a gently used Cricket variant of the Moto E XT1021. Seems like this is the only one that Motorola will not allow the bootloader unlock? Anything to be done?

How are you with technical stuff? I'm by no means a developer, but I posted a link just before your post (see post #14). I understand the concepts, but I can't tell what's going wrong in my Python execution. If you can visit the Git linked in that blog, I've posted an issue in hopes that the original developer might help, but haven't gotten any love yet.

[Q] Please help me

Hey all my bootloader said it can be unlocked and just wondering if I can have some help with the rooting process this is my first owned sony
get root then install twrp recovery then backup TA.
to root :
try giefroot. if failed, find older kitkat firmware version & flash using flashtools. repeat giefroot.
if Z3v is not supported, then proceed to unlock bootloader
Code:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
unlocking bootloader may cause losing drm keys permanently

Whoa, think about what you're doing first. Are you unlocking for developmental purposes? There hasn't been any root to achieve yet and unlocking will mean losing the DRM keys that Sony uses to enhance such functions like the camera sensors. It's a point of no return because none of the software that's available online supports the Z3v. And I mean root, TA backup, and even PC Companion itself.
Just a caution to let you know.
bnm
U have Skype
ya... be careful.... but it is good to know that some of z3v devices are allowed to unlock bootloader.... nice one.... but unfortunately my device was not allowed
p.shashikiran94 why are you resurrecting all these old posts? Are you trying to rack up you post count?
I'm frustrated because after a basically dead board here for several weeks, I posted a question that suddenly got buried out of sight so it never gets answered.
God forbid I ask on the development board for I'll surely suffer "noob chastisement".

It's weird he's resurrecting them, I agree. And I wouldn't bother with unlocking unless there is definitive proof we can. I say this because someone here went so far into the terminal of his Z3v that he got into hot waters and bricked his phone. After changing out with Verizon too many times, they kicked him out of his warranty.

There may not be a root option for that device. This is something you ha e to learn to live with when buying devices like this.

One of the biggest reasons is that almost no one gets those devices. Developers tend to lead to more well known brands of devices.
As for the bootloader. I have no idea. I would ask the OEM if there is a bootloader unlock. Most likely there isnt but couldnt hurt to ask. Also I would check on the kernel source code as well but I wouldnt hold my breath there either.

Shame for Developers

I am not writing this thread to abuse developers but I was very disappointed with this thread. I thought Developers are the real soul for mobiles. But there is not even one developer who can root LG V10 At&t model H900. and provide us a custom ROM. I am very disappointed. Please if there is any developer who developed any ROM with Root for This model. I will appreciate if somebody can post custom rom and method for this dying beauty.
Pls..........

It's not their fault. It's the AT&T that doesn't allow bootloader unlocking. I waited for a whole year for root and then sold the device because of lost hope. Lesson I learned: Should do more research before buying a new phone.

Flashaholic here help needed

After doing little digging in , found few things about unlocking bootloader , rooting and flashing some root apps.. but our beloved device seems to be under the shackles of oem. Rooting and installing system apps comes with a price, u cannot update if there is any system updates from oem.
Created this thread hoping that someone can find some way of breaking these shackles. Anyone who knows a way of rooting and installing system apps without breaking system updates from oem, please share your ideas here.. I've been a long time flashaholic and this is what I used to do with my previous phone which is OnePlus one.
Unlock bootloader, root, install few root apps that I like such as viper 4 android. And when there is new ota updates from oem I'll flash stock firmware which will remove root so that I can update the phone with oem ota, after that I'll root again..
This seems to be impossible here.. if someone have some ideas please share..
Ps. If someone feels like this thread is unnecessary pls feel free to do the needful. Thanks.
Found this new nokia flash tool and steps with download links for stock roms.. could someone let me know if this is legit ? I'm pasting the website link here so that people can check that, pls forgive me if it's not allowed
https://raghuvarma331.github.io/Nokia-SDM660-Stock-ROMS/
Tried this myself and found that the fastboot for our device doesn't recognise the bootloader unlocking fastboot commands.. also found in few posts that earlier we were able to unlock bootloader in some old firmware and after that it was disabled by hmd.. I didn't want to go to some old firmware to do this, need to find a way to do this from Android 10. will keep trying to find more and update here.. I think we a need to wait till hmd decides to allow is to unlock bootloader.. meanwhile if someone else found something pls so share here.. thanks.

Definitely legit, he is the main developer for our device.
You are correct on the bootloader.
You need to be on earlier Android 9.0 firmware, I think Ver. 331 (not positive) or earlier. To be able to unlock bootloader. If you can figure a way to downgrade, then you can do it.
That is the current roadblock.
Once you have the bootloader unlocked it will stay unlocked.
You can then accept updates and or flash custom ROMs as you wish.
Can't offer a fix, but hope the information helps.
Now we don't need for downgrading to Android 9. XDA Senior @singhnsk has discovered a way to unlock the bootloader while on Android 10. You can reach him for remote unlock method (paid). It takes only around 15 mins.
Edit: Now the devs has released an unlocking method for Nokia 7.2 & 6.2 which is completely free and can be done by yourself!
Check out the thread here for free unlocking guide!
