I am currently running AICP nightly. It is working great but i want to know what my options are. Can I safely encrypt this device?
Also, what happens with SD card? Does encryption not work with SD? What about SD is in that Android 6.0 mode as combined storage.
Hello and good evening,
maybe @Vatsal can tell us more. He is the maintainer of AICP for OnePlus X.
Kind regards

What are the advantages of the different versions of Android on the S2's and their sub versions??
What I mean by subversions is quite simple really 4.1.2 over say aosp 4.1.2?
We are on 4.1.2 Chameloen (me) 4.1.2 stock rooted(partner)
curios as to whether there's any point moving especially as kitkat onwards there no write to sd which is frigging STUPID!!!!
looking forward to your thoughts and opinions folks...
And thank you to all thoughs who take part..

Hey,
Samsung doesn't officially release any changelogs, but if you prefer Samsung base roms, i recommend those with their latest base for security purposes and improved user interface (hopefully!)
There main difference between AOSP/AOKP and regular Samsung ROMs are that AOSP teams aren't part of Samsung.
AOSP aims to give people access to the latest of the Android world, as you can see that you can run lollipop on S2, without AOSP teams this wouldn't be even remotely possible as Samsung wants you to buy newer phones. So in that sense AOSP is a great tool.
But Samsung is the company that can ensure stability on their ROMs while AOSP still are nightly (beta) versions with lot of bugs, small maybe but lots.
AOSP/AOKP - Access
Samsung - Stability
If you refrain from using kitkat because of the sd card bug, don't worry. There are many apps and xposed modules that can fix the issue by granting full access to the external sd card.

What sd card bug you are talking about? Are you talking about the music bug? Because I've never heard or a problem where there was some problems with external sd card mounting.

I'm still on jellybean so i don't know even if it will show "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." if you have a kitkat rom, since its not official rom. Therefore the Xposed module is much more preferrable imo.
I can't offer any personal guarantees as whether it works or not.

The first kitkat builds had, for some strange reason, disallowed access to external sd cards, if any. Needless to say many people were not happy, and it wouldn't surprise me if the later builds removed this bug.
But if you have this bug, it basically means you can't use your external sdcard for anything unless you have root.

thank you for the links... may give 5.0.2 or 4.4.x a try now....frigging stupid move not allowing write to sd etc in my opinion...... shame the community has to fix Googles screw ups!!
The situation with Nougat ROMs is a bit confusing for me so I have several questions:
First question:
@andr68rus is working on several N ROMs at the same time:
Resurrection Remix
Dirty Unicorns 7.1.2
AOKP ROM for LeMax 2
Can you tell which one's the best, most future proof project? Did he even stop maintaining on of them?
Second question:
What about the official Lineage Builds?
How well maintained are they? Is this the way to go in the future?
Third question: I'm currently using TeamWin twrp-3.0.2-1-x2. Do I need a new TWRP for N?
Thanks for eventual help.
Aside from Dirty Unicorns, most of the ROMs are Lineage based. I believe @andr68rus is taking a break from DU to focus on resolving issues in the Lineage based ROMs he's building.
In fact, I believe most of the Nougat ROMs (not just andr68us') are based off the work done for Lineage 14.1 so it will probably be the best maintained. I've switched to the Unofficial Lineage 14.1 for now and probably will go with the Official (assuming it goes official, though I don't see why it wouldn't) unless some other ROM has a feature that's "must have" to me.
With regards to TWRP, I think your's should be fine, but you might want to give MultiROM a try so you can switch between ROMs. I currently have LOS 14.1 as my internal, and DU 7.1.2 & AOKP - MM as secondaries. I'm using Lineage as my daily driver, but it's nice to know I can boot back to AOKP if I have an issue. I didn't have problems with DU, but I didn't place any calls and I saw some complaints about things like echo and call volume, which is why I went to Lineage. DU did feel a bit "smoother' to me, but I'm not sure if it's just placebo because it was the first Nougat ROM I used, or if it's because it's AOSP rather than Lineage based.
When using MultiROM, just don't freak out if flashing a ROM messes up your PIN codes in all your other ROMs. There's a flashable zip to remove the pin codes from a ROM (which really just deletes a few files) and afterwards you can add you PIN back.
Thanks for the answer. With Official Lineage I've meant the ROMs from download[DOT]lineageos[DOT]org/x2 . The thing I don't understand is how well maintained that is. Do they have their own people working on the ROM, or are those people from here?
Edit: I just realized that the ROMs there are 13.0 which is supposedly Android 6.0. So there are no official Lineage 14 ROMs jet. That's where my confusion came from.

I'm using your Lineage 13.0 UNOFFICIAL atm. I've tried AOKP but the battery drain was too high. The 13.0 seems fine. I guess I'll wait a bit till the N ROMs a more mature.
Woah, kitkat in 2018? You got to be crazy!
Hello guys, you may have noticed my absence from the forums as of late. 2017 was a really busy year for me. I had some free time during the holidays, and i finally got to bringup up kitkat for the z7 max from scratch, something that was on my mind for a long time. I consider kitkat to be the pinnacle of android as far as UI, performance and efficiency go, and while i use oreo on my redmi note 4x, i object with what google has brought to the table since lollipop in all areas.
My build is not vanilla lineage11/cm11 sources, i have used pac-rom kitkat(best rom ever for me) sources as well and ported all features to lineage11(or rather backported all the security fixes to the pacrom frameworks), therefore the rom has all the customization one could need.
The device tree is a heavily tweaked(almost built from scratch) oneplus one tree with many drivers from the opo(like wifi and bluetooth) ported to our device.
Kernel is pure nubia nx505j kitkat kernel as released from ZTE with the addition of opo wifi prima driver and some fixes to get it to compile and restore features like native panel d2tw, vibrator strength control and keydisabler(thanks to paolow8). Antutu scores about 52000, but the phone feels insanely faster than the heavily customized cm12.1/cm13/nougat kernels and battery life is the best i have ever seen on the device. I may add some features like f2fs support in future as well as upstream it to the latest linux version(3.4.113).
Vendor blobs consist mostly of the latest from nubia 1.64 firmware(last kitkat version), some opo blobs from latest cos11, and some from the latest lollipop 3.89 version.
Without further ado, here is the folder with the rom, newly built recovery by me with decryption support(encryption works fine on the rom) and some camera apps to improve your camera experience(i like oppo cam best): https://mega.nz/#F!10RmSaAJ!NhWzzW_E9Wimxi_LG3KlKA
To install it , you don't have to downgrade to kitkat or anything, the rom has unified partition support, and works fine with the latest 3.89 baseband(may even add the installer to flash it in later builds). Wiping data, cache and system should do(if you come from official lollipop or any of the new roms with unified data partition). Keep in mind that f2fs is not supported yet, therefore you will have to format your data partition to ext4 if you use f2fs.
I built this rom for my usage, therefore since i plan to use xposed and microg, signature spoofing and xposed work out of the box. No need to workarounds, patchers, modules or anything. The (un)official installers work without hiccups.
For the crazy enough to use this rom, have as much fun as i did developing it. Things i have to test yet are 2 sims together(both sim slots work with mobile data, just didnt have a second sim to test them together) and sdcard(should work fine). Everything else is tested and works fine.
Special thanks to paolow8, a great dev and his sources were a huge help.
PS. I will get my sources up on github as soon as i can.
Thank you for your work!
thank you for your work too !
Thanks, this is the most complete 4.4.4 Z7 Max ROM ever.
Are there any roms or custome recoveries for the ZTE Max Blue?
I agree 100% with you: 4.4.4 is state of the art. Questions: IR and screen trasmission works fine?
Edit: CHECK! Screen Trasmission works like a charm! IR says "not supported".
Thx's a lot, you have made an happy man
Edit 2: SDCARD don't work, for me. If you have a fix please share
Edit 3: For more precision: The unmountable partition is Ext Card.
While everything works perfectly (in recovery and in other ROMs) it is impossible to format or unmounting external card from Android-> Settings-> Storage.
The only flaw of an otherwise perfect ROM for me.
Is it a common problem? Did it happen to anyone? Please, if you have a fix share it
I need my settings to know what kind of phone I have
The SD card don't work! :crying:
SD card issue fixed, since it's been almost a year i got in touch with the friend to whom this phone was donated...
Just redownload and reinstall the rom, no wipes needed. It was a simple fix in the kernel ramdisk.

I need help to make a Rom LP work Exfat format on the SD card
Is there any way to do it?
the rom is tesla LP has a good performance but this problem does not favor me much and the developer left the team
It has become calm around here. From my side this is due to the offcial Lineage 17.1 updates OTA - there is just no pain which drives me here, harpia just does its job.
I just stumbled over postmarketOS' new release and guess what - harpia is officially supported, only glitch seems to be Wifi has to use channel 6, everything else should work. Another reason not to put harpia on rest.
Motorola Moto G4 Play (motorola-harpia) - postmarketOS
wiki.postmarketos.org
Camera doesn't work on my device, and I believe that applies generally. As I don't make much use of the camera on it, that doesn't bother me too much.
I use it, the msm8916 soc is a good device class to get to know "gnu-linux" handhelds. Wifi has some glitch where it is important which channel it is on, but apart from the camera not working it is worth a look
I've noticed a lot of improvements over time, which is great because there's no guarantee that we'll get Android 11 (never mind 12) on this device.
It's possible to set it up so that it can dual boot after a fashion -to postmarketOS from sdcard and to LineageOS when the card is removed.
It wasn't responding to calls or incoming sms last time I checked but that may have changed. (I need to put a sim in it again to check it out.)

Edit: Fixed a bit that I left out.

Thanks, I didn't know about that one. I have seen one or two other 11 roms, but I'm a bit wary of unofficial ones because they can stop being supported without much warning.

AICP ROM v16.1 (Android 11) has more than one year of development, it's completely stable, fast and battery-friendly. It's the best you can get for Harpia.
wow that's totally cool dude do you think i made it to the moto e 2015?
