Remix OS Latest Update 2.0.202 have prerooted feature now :) cool!! - Remix OS for PC

The latest update of the Remix OS 2.0.202 now has pre-rooted feature. no need to install the super user or any other root apps, simply by changing the file init.img with the one that has a R/W system and we are now rooted( cause the original init.img from jide still has R/O system in it), nice feature Jide and TY for great OS
oh ya, for who is not having this update, it is in unstable version. tap 5 time Remix OS version in setting/about to make available option in the 3rd unstable version remix OS ( stable enough for me)
note: keep and backup the original files init.img as will be needed for OTA update
because if the original file is missing or replaced OTA update will fail..
enjoy it..

Cannot find init.img file that has a R/W system
This is really cool and I have just updated my Remix OS installation with the latest update (2.0.202) but I don't know where to find the init.img file that has a R/W system in order to have root access. Thanks for your help...

u can download init file that has R/W system 32 bit or 64 bit , here

can you share the download link with files of 2.0.202 version, because when i click reboot and install button it goes straight to Windows and does nothing !?
Thanks in advance

Where i put the initrd.img on my remix os drive ? Prerooted features means that I can install application that needs root or not ?

put init file in where u install remix os in RemixOS folder, yes pre-rooted means it already rooted from the 1st u update remix to version 2.0.202, and if u want u can update root feature with superSU directly from Remix after booting from playstore,

I am not getting root even after adding the intrd.img. Yes, I am using 2.0.202.

Root behaviour is same as previous build for me i.e. Alt&F1 has root; system doesn't.
@arts821 any chance you are using 32bit?
I have root anyway; using my system-less root ramdisk.img; just curious on how the stock su via settings works...
Also changing to a rw initrd shouldn't be needed for root to work as in OP, but is needed to alter ant system files; but note mounting system as rw will break OTA and require restoring an unaltered version.

No root access with this

Hmm..maybe not all system have this feature, try install supersu from play store to make sure as u can see in my screenshot the root feature icon is setting icon, and yes I using 32bit remix, and wipe all my data.img(fresh install)

It seems only 32bit is rooted, which sucks because I like using all my RAM, I have 8gb ram, lol.

I could not install the .202 although I am using stock version. After click reboot and install it just reboots to old version. Please give download link with sysmtem file of the new version !?
Ps: I am using it on z3740 cpu tablet

can someone upload version 2.0.202? cause my laptop processor won't boot any previous version and this version provides a special fix for it. Compress system from img to sfs using RMXTools, kernel and initrd files and archive them, I will replace them in my iso.
Thanks in advance..

I guess it's not possible do to change the file in Remix Mini since root would be need to change that file...isn't it?

Yes, and no. If you are on 32bit your good to go but 64bit is a no go.

Are you on 64 or 32bit?
I have 64bit remix and 32bit phoenix done; will need a copy of 32bit Remix to do one for that (the phoenix one might work as is)
64 is at the top here

i'm on 32bit, replaced initrd.img, installed super su, but no root for me, i tap 5 time Remix OS version in setting/about to make available option in the 3rd unstable version remix OS but no root after reboot
EDIT: FIXED i'm on dual boot, entered from windows, deleted data.img and system. img, copied again system.img from remixos iso, tapped 5 time Remix OS version in setting/about to make available option in the 3rd unstable version remix OS, tested in terminal su command and now it's all ok!

Good morning,
to start my kitchen, I download the original VIBEROM image file, redhookbay-ota-VIBEROM_V1.0_1418_DEV_K900.zip but if I extract it on the "IN" folder I haven't the .img packages to mount (e.g. the system folder is already unpacked):
Also, after that, I get only the system.img file but in other release I used before, e.g. the one for the VIVO, I had the way to pack directly the image to flash. Here which one is the next step?
Thank you,

redhookbay-ota-VIBEROM_V1.0_1418_DEV_K900.zip - this is ordinary zip file, K900 kitchen is not working with OTA zip archives. To start working with kitchen you need to put in the /in/ folder only system.img, system.img.gz, or any INB file (to unpack it). Only like this.

xposed for zenfone 5 lollipop

This is my first thread.......today i am going to tell you how to install xposed framework on ZenFone 5 lollipop without pc.........all thankx shakalaka and revo89
This method is for the people who have root and does not have pc or custom recovery and unable to install xposed framework
This method would work for x86 lollipop devices but tested only on ZenFone 5, zenfone 6 (tested by @leonardo_Irion
Prerequisite:
Rooted ZenFone 5 lollipop
1.Download file
Xposed v67
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0lCHCvFdDJjMGFHSDF6TUNJM3M/view?usp=docslist_api
Xposed v78
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0lCHCvFdDJjaEhvTUJLVnlKUk0/view?usp=sharing
For Lollipop 5.1
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0lCHCvFdDJjRnJMSmhNOEU0azg/view?usp=sharing
2. Extract it
3. Install xposed installer from extracted folder
4. Copy all the files and folders except xposed installer to /data/local/tmp
5. Now open terminal emulator(its an app and can be downloaded from play store) on your phone and type the following commands
To install framework
su -c chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/installer
su -c /data/local/tmp/installer
Now reboot ur phone and open xposed installer and u can see that framework is installed
To uninstall framework
su -c chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/uninstaller
su -c /data/local/tmp/uninstaller
And restart ur phone and xposed framework is uninstalled
To update framework there is no need to uninstall previous one. Simply download newer version and follow from step 2
EDIT:If after installing xposed framework it shows that your framework is not acrive and inside framework section it shows is active then update xposed installer to v3alpha4(apk is uploaded below)
UPDATE: All links updated to latest one

This works on ZF 5 Lollipop with Intel® Atom™ Processor Z2560?
New version is out, so i've to download 'xposed-v65-sdk21-x86.zip' and 'XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha3.apk', and recreate the structure of your folder? Two questions:
-What're installre/unistaller files? Why i need them? Where i can find them? I can reuse them?
-In your folder, 'system' folder is the same of the one in 'xposed-sdk21-x86'?
And when new versions're out we've to do this again?

Installer and uninstaller files are needed to copy system folder in xposed sdk21 folder at its proper place
As this method is for the people who neither have access to pc nor custom recovery(flashing also needs pc) so installer and uninstaller files are needed
Thanks for reply. But wait a minute.. here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60366947#post60366947, #7/#8 posts.. so new framework is not compatible for x86?

Manual Updating Remix OS

If any of you have install Remix OS as a dual boot or in the internal storage then Remix OS can be updated with ease. Please don't delete your data.img file during this process.
1. Copy the new *.iso files in the package and overwrite the older one.
2. Generate the bootable usb drive drive with included usb tool and copy all the content from the usb to your Remix drive. Overwrite files if necessary.
3. Reboot your pc/laptop/tablet to remix os. It will take some time to update.
4. Voila! Remix os has been updated with battery icon and other small fixes.
What about pre-rooted system.img ? I use a rooted remix os and if I use this method, will it affect the system.img?

This make_ext4fs works for flashing on macOS
For some reason with this build the system-icons vanish for me after restarting the device once :/
I had much better results using this build.
Also by default (at least with the image I linked) only two of the 6 cpu-cores are enabled. To fix that one must add this under the init-section of the /init.loire.pwr.rc file and reboot (All credit for this go to abranson from the #sailfishos-porters irc).
Thanks for this port! are you planning to continue building for Xperia X or is a test build before official release?

extract the tar, open a terminal inside the extracted folder and run ./flash.sh
One question. Zip file with AOSP should be moved intact or only vendor folder from inside it?
Seems it has to be whole .zip.

Sure thing
First of all your bootloader needs to be unlocked. I'm assuming you already did that but if not you should read about backuping your drm-keys because otherwise they can't be recovered after unlocking your bootloader unless you do that.
If you don't have fastboot installed yet follow this guide.
After that download the first file linked at the top of this thread.
Unpack the archive (if you can't open it I recommend "the unarchiver" from the app-store).
Place both this file and the zip from the third link at the top in the unpacked folder (in the path where the flash.sh is). Don't unpack the .zip file!
After that open a terminal and navigate to your unpacked folder (if you don't know how to do that google for "terminal tutorial mac").
Run
Code:
chmod +x flash.sh
chmod +x make_ext4fs
to mark the flash-script and the make_ext4fs-file as executable.
Boot your device into fastboot mode (hold volume up while it's turned off and plug in your usb-cable) and finally run
Code:
./flash.sh
to install sailfishOS on the device.
If there is a "hybris-recovery.img" file in the directory (can't quite remember if that's the case with this build) also run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery hybris-recovery.img
to install a sailfishOS specific recovery.
After that you can reboot your device and enjoy Sailfish OS
@Jozinek
You didn't unpack the .tar.bz, inside are all files needed to flash. Than You have to move make_ext4fs, AOSP.zip and flash.fs into created (by unpacking) folder and start/cd Terminal there.

Right now there is no windows support. The final build (which will be officially sold by Jolla) will make windows-installation possible.
If you know your way around cygwin you could probably get it to flash using windows (other than the flash.sh script there's nothing *nix-exclusive).
Is the rom stable enough for daily use ? and is Alien Dalvik available in this rom to run Android apps ?
no android dalvik or any software that needs license, this version is just community version like aosp without play store.
when flashing there's error make_ext4fs: no such file or directory, when i use the second one there's error: wrong exec format
