Hi,
I just received a notification on my phone's screen that there is a new system update available, from S860_ROW_S402_141108 to S860_ROW_S405_150126 ( 292MB ).
My questions are:
1. Can anyone provide a link to this update package so I can download it independently and copy it wherever I want on the phone?
2. How can I upgrade the firmware using something like TWRP Manager? (I successfully rooted my phone some time ago). When I reboot the phone I get a menu from which nothing works to automatically install this update. I'm hoping that with a .zip file it's going to finally work, since I'll have something to choose for installing.
3. Is there an easier way to do system updates after rooting the phone?
Thank you
Hi, is the remix os for pc 2.0.202 release out? there's a release note on http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us website. but OTA update doesn't say so and download page isn't updated either.
Enable test builds in settings.
Its not out yet, probably getting it ready for release soon i hope, and hopefully we have audio this time around!
enable latest update in setting/about page and tap 5 time "Remix OS version" to show aditional update call "unstable update"(well its stable enough for me"
and the new update has new feauture, it has pre-rooted native apps in it ( no need to install superuser or any other root apps anymore)
just do install remix os beta update to latest 2.0.202 and replace init.img file with one that have R/W in system, cause original init.img file still only has R/O system
note : backup ur original init file for next update, cause OTA update without original init file will fail..
Ok, I was able to download the update this morning! Not sure what was added or fixed but i was sad to see audio is still not working
this remix os never worked on my computer, the installation never finish successfully . I wonder if it's a matter of driver, like my asus essence stx sound card.
Go to Setting then "About" and tap "Remix OS version" 5 times to show (unstable update). Then go back to Settings click on "Update", click on the 3 little dots (options), click "System update version options", then select "Unstable version", and go back to "Update" and it will be there.
I downloaded and placed the initrd.img into the Remix OS folder, but when any app asks for root it fails with message "libc.so is 32 bit"
Anyone know what's going on? I installed 64 bit version.

My init.img file was by default R/W... Tried a few apps that said i do not have root access and or missing superuser... Downloaded a build.prop editor to fix opengl settings and they wont stick...
Any help would be appreciated, im trying to get gameloft games to stop force closing on startup per https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/remix-os-for-pc/-UZXopMPj6o
*note my opengl settings were by default already set to "131072" but this is not working for gameloft games.

What actually opengl es version is supported by ur GPU driver in remix os , u can find it in setting/about page at the bottom, try change the value with proper version reported
Code:
http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
You can use that to mount system.img or data.img under windows to a virtual drive

The 202 update shows in the update box as being downloaded. I am then given the option to reboot and install, but when I do, nothing changes. Does my installation have to be rooted first? I have Remix installed on the hard drive (SSD) of my Acer Timeline 1810TZ.

I have a similar problem. I'm running 2.0.102 as the only OS on an Acer touch-screen laptop that is booting from a 64GB SSD. Everything is working fine.
However, the Update window shows that Remix OS 2.0.202 B2016040501 has been downloaded.
When I click the "Reboot and Install button", the machine verifies the OTA package and reboots.
Problem is: the OS hasn't been updated at all and I'm still in 2.0.102, even though "Options / Automatically install updates" is turned on.
A step-by-step guide on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Right click your .Img file, ImDisk creates a shortcut for mounting.
I tried installing the OTA update v2.0.202 for Remix OS. The file was successfully downloaded but on reboot it says "update failed".
I installed Remix OS using Windows and the Remix OS installation tool provided by jide.
Any help?

Its an error in the script. I get the same eroor, but it's because I installed as ext4 to it's own partition using the Android x86 installer.
The update package is looking for system.img, and if it doesn't find it, it will throw a status 7 error. My system is installed as writeable to sda3, along with /data.
I'd love to figure this out, not only for me but others as well.

Go to the update section, click the 3 dots and disable experimental updates. That usually messes it up.

Are you by chance rooted? If you are the update will fail. The script gives an error message do you remember what it was? Also what kind of set up do you have USB, hard disk, etc.
well the ota's have sha1 checks and cannot be used if /system is installed R/W
That really doesn't make much sense since the update doesn't work on either my hdd installed version (ext4) OR the version I have on the USB flash drive (FAT32 system.img).
Error is similar to what you would get from an open installer script (Status 7).
Hello I just updated my system to 202 version using the ota update and after the actual update I had a reboot then I'm stuck in the [email protected]_x86_64 line...
Any ideas?

Not a bad idea, I need to hit the hay at the moment because I am leaving for a work trip early am. So go for it bud! Just make sure to be super detailed[emoji14]
Also please note, I tried using the ota to update to a test release a few days ago... Same issue then. I chalked that up to it being a test release... But if I recall build dates and version numbers correctly, this stable release is the same release as my failed "test" build.

I had the same issue. I got it booting by adding nouveau.modeset=0 i915.modeset=1 to the menu.lst file in remixos installation folder. However the laptop seems to run hotter than the older version. Also I notice chrome cannot be resized to be less than half screen horizontally and the amazon appstore your apps>cloud does not work properly so I can't download apps i had previously gotten from them.
I have exactly the same problem. Is there a way to update or to prepare the system from the Terminal ?
Because i have only the remix OS on my Laptop
Update of Remix OS which has been installed using the Android x86 installer
If you have a Remix OS system which was set up with the Android x86 installer in an ext4 file system looking like this:
http://postimage.org/index.php?lang=german,
an OTA update is not possible (creating the message "update failed").
There is a workaround, if you create an USB flash drive containing the current version: The android directory must have the name of the current version, and all system files (i.e. all directories and files other than data) have to be deleted. A new Android x86 installation without formatting the ext4 partition will create updated system files and preserve the data directory (just updating it).
Link: Update for Remix OS installations .
Remixos is intalled with Virtualbox 5.0.16
today i saw in the updater;:
- a message "Remis OS 2.0.202 ... has been downloaded"
- a button "reboot and install"
then
i reboot
then
i get this message briefly then the gui is started and i get the old remis os
"Start updating...
ui_print Warning: No file_contexts
script aborted: failed to open /mnt/system.img: No such file or directory
ui_print failed to open /mnt/system.img: No such file or directory
ui_print
wait pidpid doneError in data/media/0/autoupdater/otapackage.zip
(Status 7)
Update failed"
did use official installer when you installed remix os?
if not then i think you must use it
the official remix os iso does not work with virtualbox.
remix os start then gui does not start. you get only text cionsole.
that is why i use the xda iso
thanks
i think it might couse of you rooted the remix os
I think I found the problem, the ota zip is downloaded to
/storage/emulated/0/autoupdater
and not
data/media/0/autoupdater

Those are the same location.
As already stated the OTA is for the untouched, unaltered stock kernel & .imgs; if you use a different kernel or img or alter the stock ones the OTA will not apply and it shouldn't be expected to.
i solved the problem by installing the original remis os with

NB. At Step 5. Mounting /system as read-write will also break ota.
OTA update of Virtualbox installation
I posted a thread today solving your problem: Remix OS on Hard Drive or Virtual Machine - Installation and OTA Update.
This version doesn't realese worldwide so i found in chineese remix os forum
Before, 3 things you must know
1-) I'm not creator of this version so if you have hardware or similiar problems don't blame it
2-) If your hardware goes wrong (burn or something) don't blame to me because i'm not creator, i'm just like noobish user
3-) I share on this forum because i believe this is best version for some users
In my case; this version has more performance than other versions.
Brightheness and screen rotate is working

Version : 2.0.503

[x86 - Problems]
- You can't install supersu directly from google play
Installation failed
If you root it with RMXTools you can't update the binary too, but it's better than normal root mode. Don't forget to disable 'Apppolicy' 'pm disable com.jıde.apppolicy'
- You SHOULD'NT install with 'read-write' mode on installation setup.
If you install it, your system become unstable. It may not booting after some restarts and you can't read your flash drive
- To mount system as r/w, replace initrd from @imanesaurus post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67706802&postcount=4
YOU MUST install with system.img, extract system.sfs with RMXTools and move it to installation drive.

[x64 - Problems]
- YOU SHOULDN'T INSTALL WITH 'READ-WRITE' MODE
YOUR SYSTEM GOING TO BE UNBOOTABLE AFTER SOME RESTART (%100)
- to install supersu, read carefully (noobish way)
1-) Install it system-write mode
2-) When the system boot up disable 'Apppolicy' on terminal(ALT + F1). 'pm disable com.jide.apppolicy'
3-) Install supersu and update binary
4-) After binary updated DON'T REBOOT YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM, make system.img on linux, linux live cd
http://ubuntuhak.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-create-format-and-mount-img-files.html
5-) After making system.img remove orginal 'read-write' system and format your android data
DON'T START YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM BETWEEN STEPS
- Mount system as read-write
If you install read-write mode on installation your system will be 'read-write' but your system will be unbootable after some restart. I don't know why
so i can't figure how to do this
More information is coming If you find any solution about this edition, please share it us. I will add to first page
Sorry for my bad english :crying:

screen rotate. Jide removed 'screen rotate' and 'brightheness' functions on remix os 2.0.402 and 2.0.403 versions
Bump.
Use the 3.0.207 modified initrd.img found in RMXTools downloads in GDrive.
And convert system.sfs to system.img using RMXTools.
Notice: Remix OS already comes pre-rooted but if you want to install SuperSU just use RMXTools to install SuperSU. (Root-32 and Root-64)
Issue: Reflection doesn't work correctly in Asphalt Nitro with Mesa 11.
And PUBG also doesn't work. (No solution yet.)
Cheers!
Ahmad.
I'm very happy with the system, it's rly a nice addon to W7.
I wouldn't ditch windows for few editing programs etc.
1. Or do You have a way to emulate windows programs in Remix?
2. JPanime app works but I got only sound - can anyone confirm that or help fix it?
3. This Phoenix OS is better? If is why?
4. Is there a way to make look windows like Remix OS? (love the bar, icons etc.)
Bump, again, the original forum links don't work anymore.
As Jide has renewed the site, letting it more focused on Enterprise solutions as they mentioned, BTW, stay tuned for the new Jide OS 4.0. (JOS X 1.0)
