[FIXED] Where do I use ADB commands on my soft bricked phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having trouble using ADB with my phone. It is a Galaxy J36, and is stuck in a bootloop. (yes I tried wiping the cache, didn't work ) Every tutorial online is telling me to use adb, so I downloaded the Samsung drivers to my computer. I already have the android sdk. When I plug my phone in to my computer, the command "adb devices" does not recognize my phone. It just shows "list of devices attatched" with nothing under it. I've tried entering odin mode, the system recovery menu, and the boot up screen, but I still get nothing. What do I do? Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Forget ADB, odin saves the day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BciQSJJsOVc

[Q] LG optimus c stuck in fastboot mode PLEASE HELP

i tried to flash a recovery and it didnt work and the phone is stuck in fastboot mode
use this
BUT, before you even do a thing, know that you have to use the files that are meant for your phone (you need the recovery and usb drivers meant for your phone; i believe you can use the other files)

My phone can't get to emergency mode and stuck in fastboot mode i have rooted my phone and backed up rom rebooted phone and went straight to fastboot mode what do i do
lg optimus c
Yes the tut didn't work for my phone. for some reason its not being recognized by the fastboot shell nor adb shell. I'd assume its completely bricked ? thanks for all the help.
My phone was not recognized by neither fastboot nor adb while in fastboot mode. "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" generated no result. Nevertheless, the following command worked flawlessly
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
So, it seems that it's not necessary for the phone to show up in adb or fastboot.

[Q] Can't fastboot boot.img

Okay, so basically I am a HUGE idiot. My phone has been running the latest version of ParanoidAndroid and I decided that I wanted to try MIUI. I booted into TWRP v2.6.3 and wiped everything a couple of times before installing it, and I forgot to install the boot.img afterwards (it was s-on). So now everytime I turn the phone on, it is just always on the boot animation for an eternity, and my computer won't recognize my phone so I can't use fastboot or use an RUU. I am also unable to flash PH98IMG from the phone itself. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thank you very much in advance.

Take out the battery, put it back together, power on the phone while holding down the volume down key til you get the splash screen, that'll boot you to the bootloader...
No I understand that, but there's nothing I can do from the bootloader. Once I get there, I can either go to TWRP or choose Fastboot. When I choose fastboot, it will say Fastboot USB after connecting to my PC but it will still not show up or be recognized (and I have the drivers). My only other options are Recovery (TWRP), factory reset (also TWRP), clear storage, simlock, and image crc. All I need to do is load the boot.img file, but it appears to me I have no way of doing that now.

Being seen in fastboot has nothing to do with the ROM at all, you need to troubleshoot this from the PC end. When you start fastboot on the phone and connect to your PC you get nothing? Not even a connect sound?

I do get the connect and disconnect sounds. Whenever it makes the connect sound, it doesn't show up under "Devices with Removable Storage." When I heard the connect sound the first time I went to the cmd prompt and typed "fastboot devices" but it showed nothing.

It won't show up as a drive at all in Fastboot mode, to see if it is connected properly go to Device Manager and look for ADB Interface -> My HTC, if it isn't there then your drivers are not installed properly. Drivers come from HTC Sync, which can be downloaded here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/content.aspx?id=6196 once installed and the connections in Fastboot and ADB verified to be working, HTC Sync can be uninstalled (the drivers will stay).
When you run "fastboot devices" you get nothing? Or do you get something like "< waiting for device >" or literally nothing?
What version of Windows are you running, you need to be on Windows 7 or older? Running under Windows 8 is not recommended.

Ah, that may be my problem then, as I am on a Windows 8 computer. I will try all of this on a friends W7 computer in the next few hours and report back with the results. And when I did fastboot devices it literally said nothing and was ready for another command. Thanks for the help!

You can also use a live Linux CD like Ubuntu and boot that and install the Linux version of ADB, it works fine.

Lg l9 need help

Hey guys, I just got LG l9 from my friend but it is (I am afraid, not knowing much about mobiles) bricked.
When I turn it on it says:
-------------------------------------
Secure booting unsuccessful!
Cause:
-------------------------------------
and after that it turns off. If I charge it it turns on and shows battery charging. At combination of Volume+, power button it goes in Recovery mode.
It shows "This mode is for data backup service center. After removing and reattaching battery, press power key to reboot and keep using phone" and from there I can't do anything, just able to take out battery.
If I try combination of Volume-, power button it shows little android and loading bar, after few sec it restarts and shows booting unsuccessful.
I am not sure what he did with it, but pretty sure he rooted it. Is it possible to fix it, hope someone will provide me some help
Thanks !
It is possible to fix, you need to unbrick it. Find the stock rom for your device and find a good tutorial on how to flash em. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply ! I found everything I need, but I got problem - cant enter download mode. On combination of Volume+ and plugging cable I get S/W Upgrade, and on combination Volume+&- and plugging cable I get nothing. Any ideas how to get in that download mode? Thanks!

Try that, then in adb, type adb devices and see if your pops up, if not, try fastboot devices. If it popped up in adb, you can sideload the zip file, if on fastboot, you can flash it.

Thanks for your patience and answers! Problem is I cant reach emergency-mode. I always get S/W Update. Under adb devices I can see my phone in recovery mode (was thinking maybe emergency=recovery mode). I tried sideload, it starts loading but after some time I get error:closed. I tried doing adb usb before as well but gave no results.: . Any other ideas? Is there any way to "make" phone run ROM from SD card (in recovery mode can't navigate anywhere like I can on my other phone).
Again thanks for your help and time!

If it sees your phone as recovery, you can be rescued! Run adb shell and once the shell has popped up, type ls and if you see the phone structure of directories, you can exit the shell and push the file from your pc to your phone. But before you push, I want you to try to run adb reboot-bootloader and see if fastboot recognises it.

I think I am making some progress. First on adb reboot-bootloader my phone reboots into secure booting unsuccessful, same as before. On the adb shell/ls I get to see cache, charger, data, default.prop, dev, etc, system, temp and lots of other things. I guess that are directories we are looking for. But when I go adb push filename.zip /data/media I get failed to copy filename.zip: Permission denied. Guess nothing can work at first, sorry

This gets complicated, I found xloader and uboot, but problem occurs when I try to install fastboot drivers, says third party doesn't contain digital signature information?? I think I was close with shell from adb, just how to get privilege to push files? Tried so many methods.. Thanks again on help.

Galaxy A40 stuck in bootloop after replacing usb board.

My Galaxy A40 is stuck in a bootloop since last week. I am able to get into the recovery menu and download mode. I hope someone can help me any further. This is al pretty new for me so you might read stupid or irrelevant things.
I never used download mode before, but I noticed other people get al kind of text starting in the upper left corner. I see nothing there. Something else: in the recovery menu the yellow text(with the device name and number) is listed twice. Could this indicate why I'm stuck? Could this be some kind of hardware problem? It all started after I replaced the usb charging board. Maybe I damaged something on
the motherboard?
Things I tried:
I tried to flash the stock rom using Odin. According to Odin this seems to succeed, but when I let it reboot it is still stuck.
I tried to turn off the reboot option in Odin, reboot into recovery using the hardware keys, wiped cache and did a factory reset. No effect.
I also tried flashing the stock rom with it's PIT file.
As for ADB commands:
In "apply update from ADB" mode in the recovery menu I can only use some basic commands like "adb devices, adb get-serialno and adb reboot. Almost all other commands result in "error: closed". I read that this is because most commands don't work in Sideload mode.
When I try to sideload twrp I get:
serving: 'twrp-3.4.0-0-a40.img' (~0%) adb: failed to read command: No error
There is however, no other mode in recovery where I can use ADB commands. The device isn't even listed in other modes. Is this because Samsung doesn't support this?
Finally tried to install stock rom and twrp from sd card. This results in: E footer is wrong, e signature verification failed.
Is there anything else I could try? Or just assume it's faulty hardware?
ADB commands basically work neither in device's Recovery mode nor in device's Sideload mode nor in device's Fastboot mode. This because ADB is designed to operate on device's Android OS only.
BTW: ADB sideload expects ZIP-formatted images.

Stucked with fastboot

Hi all,
Just bought yesterday this phone and after doing typical actions like android config (oem, debugging, etc.), installed adb and fastboot. PC recognized command adb devices and shows the phone but when I reboot to fastboot mode, it stucks and the device manager shows unknown android.
Have read all the tips here, forums, youtube, etc. but no way. Tried in 2 different computer with same results. Installed last android studio with sdk manager, same error. Installed oneplus drivers and also the same.
Even I have tried a different cable but no success at all.
This is so frustrating situation, ever more considering that I'm not newbie at this (years ago always changed rom every month and smartphone every 2 months).
Any advice? Format pc? Install other windows in other partition?
Or selling the phone and buying another brand

Did you select always allow from this computer after enabling debugging and plugging your phone into computer when phone was booted and running(not in recovery or fastboot. Also adb does not work in the bootloader only fastboot commands. Secondly search for the insecure modded stock recovery if you want to do adb access commands in recovery. There is also a fastboot d mode on our phones which look like recovery but you can flash all partions via full fastboot to get to fastboot d your phone has to be on then you type adb reboot fastboot
