Battery life on Galaxy S6 Edge G925I Marshmallow 6.0.1. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am currently on marshmallow 6.0.1 S925I Galaxy S6 Edge. This is a international unlocked phone used for Tmobile. Attached is a screenshot of remaining time left on battery at 100% charge. Does anyone's s6 edge phone showing more than 10 hours at 100% charge? If so can you direct me on some things I can do to improve my battery life. I feel like the remaining time should be more in the 17-24 hr range. This time was done after a factory reset from lollipop.

can someone please help me with this? Thanks.

S6 edge has battery issue as it having only 2600 mah battery.
6 hours maximum on wifi usage.
Its problem with every s6 edge

It's not really a problem for everyone else Sam, to get the most out of your battery I use Greenify (xposed module, with aggressive doze enabled), Also in conjunction with DS Battery Saver (selecting what profile for given situation ie: @work switching on Agressive mode).
Also down tuning CPU and GPU with custom kernels make all the difference. Plus using dark themed apps also saves huge power consumption.

My stats

Mines says the same thing. Even before the marshmallow update. It can last more than that but it's really how much you use your phone. Heavy usage I get about 3 hrs on screen time but if its moderate or light use can get up to 4/4.5 hrs on screen time. Which is pretty good.

[Q] Lollipop idle drain SM-G850F

I just got my Alpha SM-G850F last week and I went straight to flashing 5.0.2 on it. After a couple wipes and reset to defaults it's now working fine but I'm still not happy with the battery life, especially while the device is idle.
My idle drain is about 3% per hour, which to me it seems a lot coming from a Z3c which usually has around 1% per hour in the same conditions (on WiFi at work or home).
Deep sleep seems to be active most of the time (according to CPU Spy), no rogue apps seem to be active (I even removed the official FB app for this tests) and I don't know what to look for anymore.
Here are the stats:
https://goo.gl/photos/fC5BbXqfZ8PpZFmy7
Some info on my setup:
- no power saving
- brightens on auto set to minimal
- location ON with high accuracy
- Bluetooth ON paired with G Watch R (switching it off at night does not make much difference)
- WiFi ON and connected
- Google Now OFF
- Nova Launcher instead of TouchWiz
- S Voice, S Health and the rest of S Krap disabled
I was wondering what's the average idle drain on WiFi for you guys.
PS: Is it normal that CPU Spy does not report above 1300Mhz (was it not supposed to go up to 1800) ?
First of all, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a bigger battery, 2600 mAh compared to Alpha's 1860 mAh battery. Second thing G850F has 2 processors, one clocked @ 1.3 GHz, second one clocked @ 1.8 GHz. I recommend turning all these settings off when you can (e.g. WiFi, bluetooth, location)
I've got a question though; does your touch screen work at the top left corner of the screen, like you can try swiping the navigation bar slowly from the top left corner and tell me if it goes back to its place (when im playing games buttons sometimes dont function)..
Best regards,
James
Of course there is a battery difference but still there is a big difference. Assuming the Alpha was half size that would still mean at most 2% drain. That's why I was asking for people to share their idle usage so I can compare. At the moment I'm flashing KK and I will report back after the weekend. I'm not about to dumb it down by turning off all the smart features that I use. I also remember I had the same high drain in the first version of lollipop for the z3c, but they fixed it in the meantime.
Regarding your touch screen issue, I saw your thread but I'm not experiencing it. I have no games to try with but in other apps I do not sense this issue.
Perhaps it's related to CPU usage which I assume it's pretty high during gaming ?
Battery is better in KK, idle drain dropped to less than 1.5% per hour, also memory management is way better and most of my apps are always in ram so they resume instantly, tho the system overall does not feel as snappy as with LP.
I miss the lock screen notifications and smart lock but I'm gonna stick with KK until a new version of LP turns out (hopefully 5.1.1).
Here are the stats:

I dont understand your statistics, but obviously Android system & kernel drain your buttery and this is not normally
but we have only first build of 502 jet,and I think newer version of 502 will be much better
Actually that's normal when you don't have any apps wreaking havoc in background when the screen is off. So basically what you're left with are the notifications, communication (WiFi, Bluetooth & GSM), location and the rest of the google/samsung stuff that you can't really control. Overall 26h with 1.5h SoT for such a small battery is reasonable to get you through the day.
Here is my idle drain after full charge and leaving the phone untouched through the night.

Power saving is off and I`m on Ozcan ROM. With my pattern of usage battery lasts for 2/2,5 day with around 2,5h SOT (no power saving and brightnes on auto 5).

Looks good. My battery went down about 14% over night from fully charged (as much as 20% on other 5.0.2 roms). Do you have exchange accounts? I've found them a bit of a drain in the past. I'll try again tonight and post some stats.
I have facebook, messenger, snapchat and 4 gmail accounts that have push notifications. I also use greenify with experimental functions enabled - it indeed saves some battery power.

Galaxy Note 5 battery drain issue

Hey guys I'd like to know if you can help me fix my battery drain problems. All the battery stats are attached.
I have the N920W8 Canadian Note 5 on KhonLoi Grace V3 ROM. I'm using AOD and the standby time is about 8%/hr. Usually its around 4% which is ok but xan be better.
I have Greenify, Amplify, betterbatterystats, forcedoze installed on the rom. I have LTE GPS and BLUETOOTH on for my Gear S2.
I see that my phone is awaken even though the screen is off. If anyone could tell me how to fix the problem it would be great.
Im thinking on going back to stock and simply root it but I like AOD on the phone though and its not suppose to drain this much battery. Also accubattery says that my battery capacity is at 2100mah/3000mah is this accurate, should I get my battery replaced? Let me know guys thanks!!

For people suffering battery issues. Just once try this.
Download Gsam or any battery monitoring app and give it full access.
1. Drain the phone down to 0%
2. Turn it on- it should with reserve power.
3. Drain it to 0 again
4. Try to turn it on- if it doesn't then charge it (while it's off to 100%)
Once it's fully charged to 100% - turn on flight mode- and let it sit for hour or so. Check how much drain you got. Keep on AOD though.
After an hour-check the drain. If it's negligible in the Gsam - then perhaps it's a rebel app that isn't optimized properly and draining the life out of the battery.
You can also perform this by wiping the phone clean and then leaving it on- (no flight mode needed) but the other method is better.
People who are getting good battery life are getting very good and people who are getting bad is very bad lol- I thought average SOT should be 5 hours or so with 1 day standby but it seems it's more like 16-17 hours.
Guys also keep in mind. This screen is 1200 NITs- that's the most powerful on the market IIRC

Daily standby 18-22 hour average
SOT 5 hours.
This is for heavy users with all functions on.
I've noticed battery gets affected incredibly if once sets brightness manually instead of leaving it on automatic.

Why am I getting so less SOT?

I'm getting at around 1.5 -2 hrs SOT in my S9+ Exynos (Android 9.0 One ui) and my battery is lasting for a 12 -13 hours.i don't know what is consuming so much battery. The phone remains idle (Mobile data ON 4g but not much network activity) most of the time.I run my phone on medium brightness as shown in the screenshot.
I have both of the Sims in LTE network mode.
I have attached the screenshots. How much SOT do you get in your S9+,share some suggestions to get at least 4 hrs SOT.
1. You're on Beta, so expect some instability
2. If you have 2 SIMS on LTE, expect less battery life
To me that looks like your phone isn't sleeping properly (its constantly declining) unlike mine which flattens at times when I'm not using it - see screenshot). Even with two sims it shouldn't drain that quickly
Few potential causes:
- beta software is causing issues - would recommend a factory reset and clean install if you can
- what's your phone signal like & are you moving about a lot? If you're outside this will also cause drain, a screen at full brightness burns ~ 4x as much power as a dark screen
- download gsam and betterbatterystats- will give you an idea of anything that's keeping your phone awake as well as signal/ brightness levels throughout the day

I'm honestly not doing much, the main thing at the moment is I'm working from home so on wifi, screen is relatively dim and minimal location updating. Whilst this makes a bit of a difference, you should still be seeing more SOT/ battery life than you currently are.
I had a problem with the beta when I first installed with Google play services eating up the battery, but I just updated to the latest beta version and did a factory reset to flush out any bugs.
Edit: one thing I did do was go through and remove all unnecessary permissions for applications, especially location, don't know how much of a difference it makes though.
Also yea on the Exynos

Question Official battery life thread

I have the S23 Ultra since February 3rd and battery life gets better and better.
I don't know what to say. I think this s23 ultra is faulty. I can't be at 29% battery used with over 6 hours screen on time! Light use, from 80% charge
15 hours total uptime, 8 and a half hours screen off time, gotta sleep sometime. LIGHT performance profile used and screen at 60hz cause 120hz my eyes can hardly see. It's smoother yes, but barely, battery life is king for me
All on WiFi, location on, most apps sleeping. Gobsmacked. It's beating the redmagic 8 pro that's in the household with its 6k mah battery.
I'm expecting a lot less using mobile data, surely

Amazing battery
This phone is perfect
Got it since February 10th in the USA and I can only say battery has been great. Compared to my other phones ( coming from a pixel 7 pro and a Xiaomi mi 11 5g) the battery life is just excellent on this s23 ultra, for such a big device and huge screen size I think Samsung finally nailed it. No sleeping apps, not profile settings just plain stock and so far so good. Wifi and data on 24/7, location on 24/7, VPN 24/7 . The browser times where spent a huge time watching videos from it, almost an hour of video calling and shooting some video and photos, couple of sessions of gaming.

How much do you lose on standby? Say overnight, while sleeping, over 8-10 hours how much do you lose ?
My last check yesterday was 3 percent

Thanks, is that with WiFi data Bluetooth GPS etc off? How many hours standby did you lose 3% on?
The amazing battery life has a lot to do with the display too. It is a hugely more efficient panel.
Samsung gave the Galaxy S23 series a new energy-efficient AMOLED display
Samsung confirmed that it has fitted the Galaxy S23 line with a new type of AMOLED display that saves on power.

All on. Wifi. Data. Location. Bluetooth. Performance mode.
I'm so happy with this battery performance and am afraid to update OS when it comes out...Given the great track record of Samsung breaking things that don't need fixing, there's a high probability that the battery life will go for a toss
Had my s23 ultra since 7 Feb and consistently get just under 10 hours of SOT (most of my day is indoors on WiFi, with a 2 or 3 hours walk most afternoons in 4g)
I am running pretty.much on default settings for screen and battery - I just use my phone normally and forget about battery optimisation settings
This is the best battery.life EVER on a Samsung!
After 2 weeks with the 23u and my standard use of it i have from 85% to 30% (i never go below 30%) 4h SoT

I think it is ok. I use performance mode, all location, Bluetooth with watch, some 5G, some WiFi etc.
I mostly read on phone, scrolling...

Have you done anything specific in battery settings? Any debloating? Is this with wqhd + 120hz? Standard mode or lite mode? What's your battery settings ?

Yes I did debloat, light batter profile and battery saving (it's more than powerfu enough).
Plus I have disabled all the nearby services for smarthings find the phone offline wifi quick share etc.
I don't like having the phone always sending radio signals around for no reason

Can you give a brief list of what you debloated?
Also, android system intelligence service, is that even a necessary app? Would cause any issues if I disabled/deleted it?

I wasn't even too much aggressive with debloating, maybe I'll go for a second round
