Hi all, feeling somewhat frustrated, as all the posts I can find for P9000 require Windows to flash updated ROMs, Im looking to install 0315 (Ive got 0304 but need the Native FP API installed) but I run Mac and Linux so trying to figure out how to install the zip file? Anyone got any help?
Have a look here:

I did have a go on my laptop running arch linux but got an error with the scatter file so ended up doing it on a windows machine. However I have since seen this post on the Elephone forums:
Open the scatter in a editor and check the first bytes.
Ift there is anything before the "###" just delete and try again.

Hello.
This is my first post so first off I would like to say thank you to the members of XDA because I have been helped a great deal in the past by simply reading some of the posts on this forum.
That being said, I have a problem that I could not find the answer to after hours of searching.
I am trying to Debrand/Root my Rogers X10a using the Exploid method
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7490733#post7490733
After I enter my Device ID into the appropriate file, I ran RootX10a_v2.cmd as instructed. However, once I try to run step 1 i get the following message:
"unable to access jarfile X10flash.jar"
Ive tried connecting the phone in flash mode to different USB ports and using different Device IDs however nothing has worked.
Any ideas?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I have just the thing for you matey. I can't post a link sorry but google search for Universal Androot and download and install it on your phone.
It allows to you 1 click root or unroot your device without any fuss and should allow you to root it when 2.1 is released as it contains the superuser files for 1.5 / 1.6 and 2.0 - 2.2.
I am using it and it works brilliantly. Hope this helps

Welcome to xda! the answer is in the forum but i can't remember where.
Set up the path to the sdk tools in your environment variables.
Cheers
Gav
Thanks for the responses.
steve- are you sure that the universal androot works with the x10? another concern is that i also wanted to debrand my phone to get rid of rogers bloatware so how would I solve that issue if I can't access the x10flash.jar?
gavriel- sorry. could you explain in a little more detail what you said? i don't quite understand what you mean.
Thanks!
The one click root seems simple enough.
My problem now is with debranding.
Ive tried the method where you switch the files in SEUS (ive also tried PC Companion) just before it installs onto your phone and that has not worked. It says every time that the installation has failed.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can debrand my phone?
Thanks!
For sure. I may be wrong but ill explain it as I understand it.
Basically when your PC is trying to use a jar file it looks in a particular area. I'm not sure where it looks though. Obviously your jar file isn't in that directory or you wouldn't get that error. So, by adding it as an environment variable it will look in the directory u added for that file.
The environment variables is found somewhere in the system settings. I can't remember where. Once you have found it you should find the path to the jar you are trying to access. Copy that path and paste it and the end of the environment variables. Don't erase anything that's in there. If need be seperate that path from the one before with a ; (semicolon). Save it and try running the jar again. It should work.
Good luck and hopefully it helps.

It means that Java can't find the X10flash.jar file. Do you have that file in the same directory as DeviceID.txt? Also, do you have the latest version of 32-bit Java installed?
To solve my debranding problems I had to use the 32 bit update 20, not 21 (which is the latest) and you need the jdk and the jre, hope that helps

Let me start off by saying I DO know what I am doing when it comes to rooting and Odin. And yes I have searched and found nothing.
With that out of the way, for some reason when I go to root my tab, Odin recognizes it and everything goes smoothly until I click on PDA and try to locate the recovery file to flash cwm. I am running Widows 8 consumer preview and have had no other problems with it thus far except for finding the file. Any ideas? It doesn't matter how I extract the file, my comp will not find the file so I cannot achieve root.
UPDATE: So apparently you cannot use Odin from the Windows 8 Consumer Preview because it does not play nice with Windows Explorer to locate the recovery .tar file to flash CWM. All is well though, I used another laptop running Windows 7 and everything is good and now I can proceed with Flashing CM9
What file are you extracting?
Also to help you further what guide are you following?
I suggest the one in my signature by S0ckM0nk3y.
Edit: I figure you can't find this 'recovery.tar.md5" file. Which you want to use with Odin.
I also just noticed you were using Win 8 So I'm out of my comfort zone trying to help much.
Sorry for the interruption of your post.
no apology necessary, I appreciate any help I can get or any suggestions. I am going to try on a friends computer that is on Windows 7 and see if odin will be able to see the file that way, if not, i guess i am SOL. Here's hopin'
It's just my thinking but don't you tell the program you unzip with "where" to unzip to?
If so, can't you just remember that "place" when Odin pops up with a box to select a file and use "that place" you told it to unzip to?
Again sorry if I'm way off here, as I don't know what you are using to unzip the files. Just seems strange to me.
I do know that's exactly how it works in Win 7 with just about any prog you choose to unzip with you can tell it where so it's easy to find it from Odin.
In any case. Best of luck.
Yeah that is normally how it works with unzipping the file and then locating iit normally, and thats what I was doing, however Odin apparnetly does bot play nice with Windows 8 explorer when it comes to locating files. I just finished rooting the tab, but I had to do it from a windows 7 laptop instead of my windows 8. Whatever, i am happy and I appreciate you taking the time to throw something out there. I guess now I should update the first post as solved....sort of

I don't do cloning as a profession (yet). I've only cloned my Epic 4G on Boost mobile including free EVDO, but the problem is that speed of Boost (Sprint) are low and some places have bad reception. That's why I'm working on putting it on Verizon prepaid.
QXDM install error fix

The fix I have for QXDM install error (Win7x64 or other) is uninstall ie10 (control panel, uninstall a program, view installed updates, after list loads, find Internet Explorer 10, select and uninstall). After restart, QXDM will then install, reinstall ie10. done.
- Of course QPST must be installed 1st and working (configuration win7x64, qpst 2.7 366, qxdm 3.9.19 or most likely, this is a fix for any version w/ the "QXDM requires ie ver 5 or 6" error).
Just a note about this solution: The goal here is to revert your IE to a version below 10. If you have version 11, you will need to follow the steps twice (uninstalling 11 will revert to 10, etc.). You will likely need to restart between each reversion.
After poking around, I found that the installer looks at the file version of iexplore.exe - and nothing else. As such, you should be able to subvert the requirement by tricking the installer into looking at ANY file with a version between 5 and 10. Since iexplore.exe may be protected, the easiest method is to rename your Internet Explorer folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer) and create a new one to place the new exe into, then rename it iexplore.exe! (I tested this with an old Dreamweaver.exe file I found.)
Hi,
I'm actually trying to port Firefox OS 2.1 on the Nexus 7 2013 (aka "flo"), and after managed to download and compile the sources, I am facing a problem at the last step. Instead of flashing Firefox OS on my Nexus via the conventional method (using flash.sh), I would like to create a recovery-flashable zip file (as is often seen with custom ROMs). However, I have no idea how to build one, and the analysis of some zip files does not really helped me to understand which files to include and which script to write.
Here are the files generated by the build: http :// i.imgur.com / MgobUsp.png
If anyone could help me and explain me how to create that famous zip file ^^.
In advance,
thank you
Nobody? :-/

Due to a large project that came my way at work, I've been unable to work on this however I hope to in a few weeks after we demo our new apps. If you want to check mine out it's here http://goo.gl/gioiDv however the only real issue with mine which is quite fixable was that I used the wrong version of the Gaia, and webapps. You can use mine as a template really, here is how:
1. Build FF OS
2. Now when building ( I am going from memory here so ask if you ha e questions), pass the argument otapackage and you'll get a "flashable" update.zip in your out dir.
3. Find either a fully built version of ff for any device but make sure its the same version, OR build Gaia yourself, see the official docs for how to do that as they explain it very well.
4. From that you go through the output and find the webapps dir.
5. Copy webapps to your built otapckage at /system/b2g/webapps.
6. Now I'd use either my update script from the link I gave you (after looking through and updating anything that needs updated because mine is a few months old.) Make sure there is nothing in there about formatting data or anything (cause you don't want to lose that!) And after repackaging (use a kitchen or whatever method you prefer), you'll have a flashable Firefox zip.
Its a process so use a little trial and error and you'll overcome any issues you find. Any questions let me know.

Don't waste your time creating such a zip file, just use fastboot to flash the various IMG compiled files.
Dear XDA helpers,
I have done pretty comprehenisve searches for a day or so but I am having trouble. I have a Samsung S5 SM-G900F... I am trying to install lineage 18.1 using a MAC (OS 10.15.5 CATALINA) I can't find a version of heimdall suite that works on Catalina. Heimdall suite 1.4.0 doesn't install on Catalina. I got Heimdall-1.4.1-Unofficial-Signed to install but I can't find the front end and I can't find the installed app location on my hard disk. Also I downloaded the official lineage-18.1-20220828-recovery-klte.img but the image is not recognised and I can't open it on a Mac machine.
Basically I am having a cross patform nightmare, I can get some things installed on Catalina (such as Jodin3) but some of the necessary support files are not compatible with Mac Catalina (such as lineage-18.1-20220828-recovery-klte.img).
Am I wasting my time trying to do this on my mac? I would need a relatively straight forward process anyway because I am a noob, so these extra cross platform issues are not helping.
Is there a thread with instructions using Catalina? I haven't been able to find much useful in a day of wide ranging searching.
Thanks for your help
All the best Tim
