Symphony H250 development Help. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is another thread I am opening as per Art Vanderlay's suggestion for help with my phone h250's development.
Hardware:
MTK6735 Quad Core Arm a53 64 bit CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz
2 Gb RAM
16 Gb ROM (11 Gb Usable)
Mali T720MP2 450MHz GPU
Runs Lollipop 5.1
Kernel Version 3.10.65
Looks to be a clone of Colors K3 a nepal company.
I have the stock rom and all the files included. I also have a philz touch recovery that i managed to port from another device.
I also have opened a thread or two about my older device (W128) which runs jb 4.2.2.
What I want to learn is how to port a genuine lollipop rom to my W128 and how to port recoveries and kernels and roms.
At present all I know are the copy paste methods that are available on this site and a few other sites.

For example I managed to port philz to my device by modifying the recovery.fstab file with proper mmcblk locations obtained from phone. The recovery could not detect my partitions with the stock fstab file. I tried twrp as well but it does not detect my partitions even with the modified fstab file. I found a port of twrp for my device that works and decompiled it. In that fstab file however the partitions were using the by-name format [/dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/by-name/boot]. I want someone to explain this to me. I want to learn how to port beyond the copy paste stuff. I think there are small in depth stuff that can be done to make a port work. For example the person who ported that recovery also ported multiple lollipop and kitkat roms to the W128 set but he locks those zips and sells them so he does not want to help. All port guides say that it will only work for same base rom version. Is it possible to port from different bases?

bump

Gotta love the xda support!

rk3026 Custom Rom

Hi
Welcome to what im hoping will become a popular project amongst owners of Rockchip devices. Over at rkDroid we are aiming to create the first custom rom for the rk3026.
We really are starting at the bottom with this one as there is so little info available about these devices. The aim will be a 2 stage project :
Stage 1 : Cooked stock rom
Stage 2 : KitKat
We want to get as many people involved as we can. This means addressing ALL levels of skill. This is why there are 2 stages.
Stage 1 :The 'cooked rom' - This will be for beginners to contribute to. It could be themes, app suggestions, tweaks, etc. They all go into a custom rom and no one is better than another. Anyone can get involved, even if they dont have a Rockchip device. Icons, Themes, etc. They ALL count.
Stage 2 :'KitKat' - I have the source for the kernel and Android build for KK on the 3026. This means we can (in theory) build KK for it. Rockchip released a press release a few months ago saying the 3188 & 3026 WILL get KK. So far the 3026 has been lacking in this. rkDroid aims to bridge that gap and get a KK build out there for these devices. Im no pro when it comes to building Android or kernels. Ive done a few but im in no way a 'guru'. Im also not stupid. This stage of the project WILL require people with some knowledge of building Android, etc.
Overall, the aim of rkDroid is to bring Rockchip device users together to share info, solve problems, build roms, etc. Our site aims to be a popular resource for Rockchip tablets (No TV sticks or Mini PCs yet, sorry guys).
We dont only support the rk3026, We also have info/roms/etc for the other Rockchip devices like the rk3066, rk3188, etc. We will be aiming to create roms for these too once we get more support.
The bottom line is that if you own a Rockchip device and want to be involved in creating a custom rom for it then get involved with us. Whatever level you are at you can have an input in this project and we welcome everyone. n00b or bo$$, its all the same to us, There is a place for everyone at rkDroid.
Let us know if your interested in this project and lets see if we can beat Rockchip by getting our own KK build out before them
did this rom can change size storage sytem
in fact on rk3026 MD706B tablet 8GO/1Go
we have
1 Go for system
1Go for internal sotage

I flashed your ROM from rkdroid here with 3.0.36+([email protected]) #69 kernel. Rom is really fast but only problem is that wifi doesn't work. If I try to turn wifi bar on it will automatic slide to off position. It says that "turning wifi on" but nothing happens. I can't flash my stock rom back because my TWRP backup is corrupted (system part is missing).
Can you help me?
Solution: Turns out that that my wifi is actually Atheros AR9271 so all I need to do was flash Oma Cube U25GT2-H JB v1.0 rom with my genuine kernel. Everything is working now!

[Q]downgrade Lollipop to Kitkat Mediatek

hi need inputs from this great community regarding my issue. my mobile device, which is in Android 5.1, but earlier releases of the same model was on Android 4.4. i compared both scatter files from kitkat version and L and scatter on Android L has extra FRP and EBR2 partition. i wanted to downgrade to Kitkat so im wondering if i can flash the stock rom from kitkat to my lollipop device. and since they dont have the same scatterfile or partition, i will maintain my device, which is in Lollipop, use its scatterfile but will use images from the kitkat-rom, assuming both devices have the same hardware and same drivers used, will this method work? will it overwrite or overlap partitions not normally seen when using sp-flash-tool? im excluding the preloader.bin since for some reasons i can't seem to make backup of it.
Nit really sure. Not alot of development for that chip is done here. Most devices here that have developers are using Qualcomm. But no you won't be able to mix the two and with the new partition most likely also came with a new bootloader that will prevent downgrading.
Only one way to find out. Try and find out.

Once you've made a proper backup with sp-flash-tool, you can safely blast out everything starting from MBR (including MBR) and higher (EBR, FAT, Recovery etc.), and overwrite it with Kitkat partitions.
I've done similar stuff to my MT6577 phone - edited MBR, merged and resized some partitions. It feels fine.
However, if Lollipop had replaced your preloader, things get little more complicated, but not too much.

[g531f Custom Rom] Here are the files needed for compiling custom rom!!!

I'm trying to build cm12.1 custom rom for g531f but so far not good since i don't have much experience compiling...
Here are the files need for building custom roms like CM,AOSP etc. :
Device Tree(TWRP): github.com/TeamWin/android_device_samsung_grandprimevelte // Minimal device tree possibly only for recovery
Device Tree(MINE): drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8TQ0igdaGTjUE53S1dDMDkwVTA?usp=sharing
Vendor Tree/Blobs(MINE): drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8TQ0igdaGTjUE53S1dDMDkwVTA?usp=sharing
Kernel Source: opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=G531F
Help for developers of g531f, most similar devices to g531f are X Cover 3(Same Specs) and Galaxy Tab 4 7.0(Most similar specs pxa1088 etc.)
I think the hardest part is now over, and that is to make all these files from scratch, now we need EXPERIENCED COMPILERS AND DEVELOPERS who know how to manipulate these files to work and to get successful build of CM or AOSP
PS. Keep in mind that i created these files in reference to our similar devices,so is most probable to need something removed or added and tweaked etc. this is just to jump start a development of roms for g531f
HIT THANKS IF YOU FOUND THIS POST HELPFUL OR USED MY SOURCE FILES

A few questions

Hello I am Jimmy and I am starting on ROM development for mobile and PC. I have a few doubts regarding that.
1> Android-x86 Oreo is the latest build on their website, But roms like Bliss, they ported Pie on PC. How to do that? I mean how to get Android-x86 pie?
2> How much average time does it take to compile the source of Android(both x86 and arm64)? [Specs for consideration: Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2 Ghz 6 cores, 16 GB RAM, Ubuntu 18.04 ]
3> What IDE/Development softwares should I use for modifying the original source code that is? Android Studio? Netbeans? Notepad++? Or what??
And a question not regarding development:
I have a device lying around my drawer. My bro used to use it until he bought a new one. Its LAVA Z60 which is based on MTK MT6737 chipset. I researched but found out that there are very few MTK devices with custom roms. Is LAVA Z60 one of em? And if so, where to get the Device Tree, Vendor, Kernel etc.. for the device? Also, note that MTK Droid tools does identify the device, but I cant create scatter file cuz there is just one item on the list with location and every other thing as 0.
Soo.. yeah thats all. Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance.

Making an own android image?

Hello everybody. I love this community and I have been lurking for a long time.
I have noticed on a foreign language forum that some people were offering a custom rom for my android 9 TV box.
The chinese box is based on a s905x3 CPU and has a mediatek wifi chip for which it is hard (if not impossible to find the wifi drivers).
The site claims that the image was made by modifying the stock rom that came with the box. Is this possible or do all custom roms need to be build from the source?
The custom rom I want to make is going to replace the launcher with kodi.
I am prepared to build the whole rom from source but I do have a couple of questions.
Since the mediatek wifi drivers cannot be found how would I go about including the binary for the wifi?
I have noticed that the box that I have uses a .ko (kernel object) module to drive the wifi chip.
Can I include these kernel objects in build? It is a shame that the kernel is built as a 32bit system. Would that mean that I can only compile a 32bit kernel if I were to reuse those kernel modules and binaries?
Another idea is to perhaps use the kernel from coreelec in my build since it seems to include a lot of drivers.
Is it possible to use a kernel from something like coreelec but use the source from AOSP for the rest of my build?
Is there anything else that I should be aware of?
Thank you all!!!!
Can anyone give me any hints to any of the questions?
Essentially I want to swap out the stock launcher for Kodi. What is the easiest way to do so?
