No Artists, Albums showing in stock Music Player and BlackPlayer - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hey All!
I'm having this very weird issue with the stock music player. I have an SD card with tons of music on it, organized in this folder structure (Artist->Albums->Album Songs). When I load up the music player, I can see all said songs in the first tab, but no artists or albums when looking at their respective tabs. I've checked the song details, and they do show the album and artists so I assumed the G5 has recognized the tag data. I tried to download BlackPlayer and see if the stock was the issue, but same thing: all the songs, no album, no artist. Has anyone come across this issue that has some advice? Is it something to do with reading from the SD card? I am also not ruling out user error , so feel free to let me know if it's something I should be doing. Really, any help would be great. Thanks in advance you guys!

Sprint Touch Pro Music app problems

I have a TP with the original ROM, and about 1.2 GB of music on an 8GB microSD. The music plays fine in Windows Media Player (just in case anyone was going to suggest that the card was the problem, and I installed the SD cab to speed up the card). When I try and play music in the Sprint Music tab, sometimes it won't play, and other times it will play the first 5-10 seconds of the song and then just stop.
I actually prefer the Sprint Music player over WM Player, I find it a cleaner application, and if anyone knows how I can solve this problem, I would appreciate it.
I know there are people out there that have 16GB cards filled with music, and they don't have this problem, so what's going on with my TP? I also can't find any answers in any other post here, or in a Google search.
Thanks in advance.
Have you thought about using Slide to Play? http://s2u2.ac-s2.com/
So here's the fix for the HTC Music player problem. First off Have you tried to add Album art to your MP3's? Personally I used Media monkey and added album art to all my mp3 files. This totally screwed up the HTC music player. After removing the album art from these files I was able to get the music player working again.
Second, there seems to be an issue for me with how the Folder is labeled in the storage card. If you call it "media" Sprint player see's the files but WMP does not. If you call it "Music" WMP sees the files but Sprint player does not.
Not sure whats the problem but it seems you have to choose which player to use.
So make sure the files are plain MP3 files in a folder named "Media" in order for your sprint player to work. If you want album art check out the Music folder in your Device and replicate the file format (FolderMP3name with MP3 file and "Folder" with containing album art. Oddly enough I think this is how the WMP tags MP3 files.
Or I'm an idiot and don't know what i'm doin

Problem displaying new album art in music players

I have recently updated the album art in some of my music files using iTunes on my PC. They display correctly when I play the songs on my PC, but when I delete the old files from the SD card on my Atrix and transfer the update files, and play the songs with the Android music player, Google Music player, Winamp, or Meridian Player, all of them continue to show the old embedded album art. I know the file has the new image because I have viewed the file on my phone using File Expert which displays a thumbnail of the image next to the file name, but I can't seem to find a way to get the new image to show in any of the music players instead of the old one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
After more searching, looks like I found the answer to my own question. Someone posted on another forum that you have to go into "Android/Data/com.android.providers.media/ albumthumbs" folder and delete all of the cache files. Android will then rebuild the cache from the current music files. I've tried this and it seems to have worked as all of the music players now display the new album art. I should work a little harder before asking for help. Sorry!
Man Thank you so much, i was searching for this everywhere!

[Q] Google Play Music using a random picture from my phone

I like using Google play music but the application has been changing my album art around and i cant figure out how to change it back.
I saved a picture to my external SD card and Google music decided to tag all the Unknown Artists with the picture, but it only seems to show up in Google Music.
I have multiple media players installed and only some of them recognize the art and display it.
I have tried editing the tags but its like the images are not there like since the image was in the forlder it pretty much overwrote things.
I have cleared the cache and data for google music rebooted my device with no luck.
What are my options at this point to get this picture out the tags and off my phone.

Hi
I too have a very similar problem. Have transferred 250+ songs (no albums, just individual songs) from my 'puter to the external SD card of my phone (Galaxy S3). Each cover for each song is embedded (correctly!) in the ID3 tag of each mp3. The songs play and covers display corrrectly when using a PC-based music player eg. Windows Media Player.
However, Google Play Music tags each song with the same cover tag (seemingly a random one from the 250+ songs). So...I deleted them all and started again. This time, I transferred a single mp3 and this displayed correctly (ie. with the ID3 embedded cover art). However, as soon as I transferred other songs, they too displayed with the cover art of the first transferred mp3. I too tried clearing the chace and data of the app but to no avail. I'm stumped..
Does anyone have any ideas to solve this? It's incredibly frustrating!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help..:good:

Music, Song folders organization?

Hey all,
Im trying to find a way to organize my songs somehow.
I would like to separate my music into to categories or folders, one for rock and one for country and then be able to pick either country or rock from my stock Htc music player.
I can/have hooked my phone up to my comp, created 2 folders and organized my songs accordingly. The problem is when I start up my music player the player does not recognize the folders and just gives me a complete list of songs on my phone.
Sometimes I just want to listen to rock and other times, chill out to some country. If I had the ability to pick a gene/folder within my music player, then I could just shuffle all songs within that folder only.
I have not been able to figure out how to make the phone/music player recognize folders
Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Thank you,

I do believe you can set up playlists and just pick that from the music player, otherwise find a music player that does support them.

I have tons of songs for each gen. It would not be worth it to hand pick the songs, way to time consuming. Its quicker to just skip songs, that is what I'm doing now, Hoping for a much better solution.
Thanks for the input
Try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrtstudio.AnotherMusicPlayer
Browse and play your music by albums, artists, genres, songs, podcasts, folders, composers, videos and playlists

Sounds like that might work, Im going to give it a try
Thanks
Although not folder sorted, separation by Genre is sort of built into the MP3 standard, you just have to add the appropriate Genre tag to the files. There are multiple programs for Windows/Mac/Linux that can edit MP3 tags on single or multiple files at once. Then you just need a music player that can sort and play by Genre, like Winamp, PowerAmp, Fusion, N7, or most full-featured players.
You can also use an app like this to make playlists based off of what songs are in what folder.

Duplicate songs, some players not finding music, some songs have no file path

As the title says, my huawei Honor 5x has been having some issues. My normal song app, Black Music Player shows up with duplicate songs. Figured it was a cache problem. Deleted cache. Still persisted. Unmounted and re mounted as card. Still. Downloaded music player by leopard v7, and scanning music, I can't find any songs. My music is directly on a folder called Music in root of SD Card.
In black player, music skips. Like if click on a song, it'll play the next (that isn't duplicated). But if I click the same song that is dupped, it plays the next next song. It's odd. One of the songs that isn't dupped, it has the album or song picture. Whereas the dupped one doesn't. The dupped one without picture, when I hit edit, it has no file path.
In music player, I've tried everything. I can't find any way to make it see my songs.
Please help! :/

it's most likely the sdcard / the honor 5x is pretty picky about sdcards and has issues with a lot of different ones
I had to switch from a SanDisk Ultra to a Samsung Evo to get it working correctly. I also have a PNY 128gb that the phone won't read at all but works fine in other phones / tablets and on the PC
Did you set it as an external storage? Or did you let the phone format the card to get it to work?
