FoxMod HTC Desire 612 First Custom ROM - HTC Desire 610

Suspended pending my aquiring a new device to develop with (volume down button broken no more booting into bootloader :/)
Well I have been playing with this phone for the last few weeks and found very little development on it. So I decided to create my very first custom rom for the thing. It is pre rooted debloated and updated with some pretty useful tools moved to system right now it is in the form of a TWRP backup but soon as i figure out how to make a flashable zip ill do that with it ill upload V1 soon if i get enough attension here C: oh yeah i also removed DT IGNITE! for you
A list of features? okay
-Extra apps and updated system apps
-ABP built in
-/system/etc/init.d support
-selinux set to permissive via an init.d script
-built in system app manager and updater
-HTC Sense updated to current versions
-Google apps built in and up to date
-Hangouts installed to system (took me hours to get that one to work right lol)
-Pre ODEXed for added performance
-Xposed framework built in
-And many more!
I also take feature requests but that doesnt mean i will add your request but if its a good idea and in my skill level ill prolly toss it in
And now for some legal mumbojumbo
I take no responsibility for bricked, or otherwise damaged devices after using my software solution. Your usage of my software is done without warranty, and in the likely event of a bricked device or otherwise I may or may not decide to assist you with remedying your issue/s.
This is your only warning, please proceed with caution!

Would be greatly appreciated as I busted my good phone and now all I have is my old desire 612 and would love to try your rom also if the boot loader is unlocked I can flash titanium backup and create a stock image if anyone needs it.

you must pay 25$ to sunshine to get the bootloader unlocked just follow the prompts in the app its worth it
you can use fastboot to flash the recovery after you unlock with sunshine hold power and vol down do get into hboot and youll see what to do then go fastboot flash recovery recovery.img use the one in my mega folder
that recovery will boot on the 612 i desperately need an stock image for this device to fix the camera in my rom
before you flash my rom taake a twrp backup for me please and upload it somewhere

The 612 and the 610 are close enough for that not to matter. The only real difference is the screen type used. Which is pretty easily remedied.

I was able to get your ROM working, only issue was the screen like I had been saying. The hardware is close enough where it boots, especially when it has been ported with the 610 specifications taking priority.
My screen stays black, but my computer reads the device as active while rebranded as a 612.

The only differences in kernel source are are the touch screen and storage dts/dtb files. The files are all there for desire612 in the 610 kernel source. If I compiled a cm kernel with def_configs for the 612 you should be able to run cm on it. @fennectech you should be able to take the camera files you need from any d610 rom, same camera.
@ninjasinabag if you want to try to run this rom on a 610 all you should have to do is take a twrp backup of you stock d610 rom, factory reset, Install this foxmod rom, restore just the boot partition from your d610 backup (stock d610 kernel) and wipe dalvic and cache then reboot. I haven't tried it but it looks like it should work.

Finally installed this rom but its so unstable. Google Play Services constantly crashes so I cannot do anything with this phone now. Are there any plans to make this rom work without all the crashing? Thanks.

Where is a link?
Do you have a download link for the stock Rom?

"For those rare occasions when you need your phone to actually work as a phone."

DISCLAIMER:
If you hold me responsible for bricking your device, I will laugh hysterically.
I found this while searching for the perfect, fastest, most stable AOSP-based ROM with exceptional battery life and thought I'd share with the XDA community. I will update this as they come (until I get the Sensation or Sensation XE ).
Although a majority of the N1er's will stick with CM, MIUI or SENSE, this is here for the barebone lovers.
MAIN FEATURES:
SuperUser and busybox pre-loaded ("rooted")
ClockworkMod recovery and nandroid backup/restore image
Automatic notification and secure, over-the-air downloads of system updates
Trackball wake setting (for Nexus One phones with broken power buttons)
Option to link media/music volume with ringer volume system-wide for simplified control
Native screenshot capability through the globally-accessible power menu.
Ability to reboot, reboot to bootloader, and reboot to recovery from global power menu
Large list of preset APN configurations for most GSM networks
Ability to use SIP over non-WiFi connections
Ability to hide failed unlock patterns on pattern lock screen, for added security
"Copy all" shortcut from long-press menu on any text field
Global setting to always silence camera shutter sounds
Alarm Clock App: Option to speak the time when pressing snooze, and use a large snooze button
Camera App: Ability to use physical volume keys as a shutter button.
MMS/SMS App: Settings for dark background and font sizes
MMS/SMS App: Customizable number of vibration iterations
Web Browser: Ability to change user agent and an increased number of maximum windows
Web Browser: Ability to use DuckDuckGo for secure web searching
REQUIREMENTS:
- Radio version 5.08 (This is due to the fact that this was the latest version officially released to ALL N1's. The developer doesn't want to take any chances risking stability.)
INSTALLATION:
I used the fastboot method, but I believe you can use nandroid and CWM Recovery as well.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
^THIS UNLOCKS YOUR BOOTLOADER, YOUR WARRANTY WILL BE VOID
Code:
fastboot -w update /path/to/blandroid.zip
^THIS WIPES ALL YOUR DATA (except SDcard)
Your phone will reboot when completed. Remember to flash the Google apps and any kernel you prefer. If you are using AmonRA you will have to re-flash your recovery as the fastboot method restores a clockwork recovery.

Thanks for your work and always appreciate ongoing rom development.
How does this rom compare to other ASOP roms like Oxygen which is pretty vanilla too? Can we use pershoot's new kernel on this?
Thanks
Very interesting to see indeed. I am getting fed up with lags and FCs with my messaging and dialer and sometimes need my device to run butter smooth. Will try and give review... Features look nice.
Very stock.... Stable as can be. No a2sd and limited kernels for AOSP Roms. If you want a stock Rom, this is one of the very best.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
its basically the most dry vanilla rom with stability the number 1 priority. no crashes/fc's/random reboots..
if youre looking for something fancy, this isnt it.
I cannot flash latest release. Zip is unsigned, and when I turn off verification in Ra 2.2.1 It still doesnt work..

sorry, ill add that part to the original post later
it should be 5.08 since that was the last one officially released to all n1's
the developer likes to stick with what has been tried and tested to ensure stability

a few comments/notes on installation:
Trackball Wake setting is in Settings->Display
Music app signature not showing update for Google Music in market (ie market version of Music installs alongside bundled Music app)
I use AmonRA, so I reflashed it. Could probably have removed recovery.img from the zip
deleted bootanimation.zip from /system/media
got a Gallery force close.
It's AOSP Android w/ trackball wake, exactly what I wanted for this particular device. Will report back if I notice anything else.
This is fantastic! The only problem I've ran into so far is, I can't seem to adb push anything. As far as I know, I have all the permissions... Looking forward to whatever you do to this next.
This rom doesn't have any a2sd features, right?
Iam always running out of memory..

adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk c:/path/etc
OR
use root explorer
then to put it back:
adb push c:/path/etc /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb shell
chmod 744(i think) /system/framework/framework-res.apk
i wouldnt advice using root explorer to push the file in.. it can cause a crash because of the permissions
Nice ROM! I was searching for an alternative ROM without the f** DNS-bug (Cyanogenmod-based and much of AOSP roms have it) and this is the only one haven't it.
I would like to use the Radio FM. Spirit FM seems to work because I can find radio stations but I cannot listen anything.

Vodafone Smart Chat / ZTE P752D Discussion Thread

Hello everybody in XDA!
I created this thread to talk about that phone (which nobody has )
What about rooting?
Does somebody know if bootloader is locked, or unlocked? I tried lots of methods:
DoomLord, SuperOneClick, via Official Recovery... But I couldn't do anything...
I'd like to develop a CM7,CM9 or CM10 for this device, I'm learning how to, but without root I can't get boot.img to get kernel and foundamental stuff to build recovery...
I found out that hardware is really similar (if not equal) to Sony Xperia Tipo and Miro, that have CM10 by FXP...
I discovered that you can acces recovery with volume up and power and FTM mode (IDK what it is) with volume down, home and power

Stock Rom
Hi, i have the ZTE P752D, i have rooted the phone, and i do something wrong with some app (tools apps from the market) and my phone its not starting from android logo.
I don´t have the stock rom, what can i do?
Thanks in advance, an sorry about my poor english.
My history ...
In Steps:
1.-I rooted by ADB with terminal in OSX
2.-Install SU and some utilities...
3.-Unbrand the phone: erasing bootanimation and vodafone apps,
4.-Optimizate: erasing Dalvik cache and others.
5.-And last... i installed "ROM Toolbox" and try to change the icons & theme, but all the apps shutdown and phone too... next my phone don´t start from android logo.
Thats all i do.
But now i have downloaded romdump.zip from this post in this forum, and i believe that i have to create a rom with that... am not sure..
Sorry about my english.
Can somebody help with this?
Edit 1: i tryed Fastboot or adb - but can´t detect any devices..
Kernel 2.3.6...
I found the P752D Kernel 2.3.6... Can use for something?
Have a folder named firmware, but i don´t know how to use it to repair my phone, please, somebody to helpme?
update.zip
Hi Guys, at this point i see nobody interested in help me to solve this, so.. i´ll try to make a new rom from romdump.zip if its posible, in this .zip i have the nexts folders:
-checksum.md5
-config.gz
-system.info.gz
-system.tar
In system.tar i see the root partition system..
How can i use that to create update.zip to use in system recovery?
Changing the update.zip content???
Hey guys,
I have the same problem.
I erased by mistake the file "filer.odex" from the system/app folder.
Deleting this file I pratically erased all the system apps, and now the vodafone bootanimation keep going in loop!
Few days ago I've started preparing all necessary for having an update.zip with Titanium Backup, just in case, but it doesn't work with the stock recovery (ASR 3e), and now i'm looking for an update.zip or some others suggested methods.
I've found this method to create a custom "update.zip" for this mobile in the thread "[TUTORIAL] Create your own UPDATE.ZIP"
so hope that someone can reply me for any suggestions!:fingers-crossed:
Now I have the solution!
For rooting your ZTE9752D , follow my steps . No risk, no computer required .
1. Download poot - debug.apk and Minister
Poot = dropbox.com/s/odgbq448eova7ag/Poot-debug.apk
Click to collapse
Ministro = play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kde.necessitas.ministro
Click to collapse
2 . Bookmark in phone settings and enable USB debugging installation of unknown apps.
3 . Minister is already installed , since it was downloaded from the Play Store. So Poot -debug install and open the application.
4 . We say (probably in Spanish , but you may ) that needs some libraries . We give OK ( accept or similar button on the left, so there are no messes . )
5. Once you have downloaded the libraries , click on "Press here to poot " .
6. Then, just click on Get Superuser , and see if you have root.
7. If you are not root , reboot your phone , because sometimes it fails.
This I have found myself, and I 've tried my ZTEP752D Fully rooting. And sorry for my Inglés , but i was using the Google Translate .

How I did it? Before I installed Superuser, I updated Su from it, then (without uninstalling Superuser) install Super Su. Open it. You will be asked to update Su binaries. Touch ok, give superuser authorizations to SuperSu, leti it finish. Then, uninstall Superuser.
From SuperSu you can do a complete unroot.

I discovered that you can acces recovery with volume up and power and FTM mode (IDK what it is) with volume down, home and power

hy i root my phone with kingo root wich you can google it and download.
I just bought one of these devices - it is the successor to the ZTE Tureis and ZTE also has the kernel sources available on their website:
http://support.zte.com.cn/support/news/NewsDetail.aspx?newsId=1002222
I already made a successful port of Cyanogenmod 10.2 to the original Tureis and I will start porting this one, as soon as it arrives.
The system.img and recovery.img are in this thread, but the boot.img is not available anymore.
I want to dig through the files to prepare myself while I wait for that thing (have to import it from the UK). Can anyone dump their boot.img and upload it here?
A quick look in the kernel files revealed, that ZTE still calls it Tureis internally. But the boardfile for the device has changed drastically. It looks like they used another display and touchscreen for the Smart Chat and some sensors have changed. But apart from that, the kernel should be recent enough to get it working with Android 4. If not with the stock kernel, maybe after some patches from the ics_chocolate branch on codeaurora.
It will take some time, but I'll do it!
I've successfully ported ClockworkMod 6.0.3.7 to the ZTE P752D. You can check out a tutorial how to flash it here. Now I can seriously start porting Android 4.3.1 over to the device.
Just a quick update:
I'm finally able to get into the Cyanogenmod bootscreen now!
I'm in the process of updating the outdated Gingerbread kernel with KGSL and msm_fb patches (and a lot more things in the process).
I can already start up Cyanogenmod, at least until the Wifi driver crashes and locks up the whole system.
And it only boots if I disable genlock (for now), which is a horrible and whacky solution.
I'm confident that I can give you an alpha version of CM10.2 in the next weeks. If you want to follow my process on github, feel free to do so:
https://github.com/schmatzler/zte-kernel-smartchat
Edit: I was able to stabilize the KGSL core of the kernel. Jellybean drivers for the ZTE N880 work without any crashes now.
The touchscreen doesn't work yet, I have to do some work there now
I made a lot of progress, but now I am stuck So far I managed to get everything working, except Wifi, Camera and Mobile Data.
I can actually connect to a 3G network and I can also make calls and send SMS. But I can't get any APN's to work
I think I narrowed it down to a point in libril where a response with the network parameters gets truncated like this:
Code:

I think the list in UNSOL_DATA_CALL_LIST_CHANGED is so long that it's not closed properly at the end and cannot be parsed by RILJ. That causes RILJ to believe that the network interface is null instead of rmnet0 and breaks the data connection.
My head burns, I have to get some rest, leave it for the time being and get back at it later...

Gapps
Hi, I got a problem with gapps. I tried 4.4 gapps and cyanogenmod 12 gapps. Everytime I boot there is an error saying process *.wizard has failed. Basically all google services fail. So what gapps should I use. Thank you Hahaburger for this rom which works fine without gapps.
flashed
Hi, i flashed this rom earlier today and now I am stuck. when the phone turns on it tells me in a different language then english roughly translated "sorry but wizard application for settings has quit" and when i click OK the same message pops up. it just repeats. when I shut off and enter bootloader using the power and volume down buttons and try to go to recovery to restore the phone just shuts off which i can not turn back on without taking out the battery. HELP ME i am stuck. what can i do to fix this or restore back to a previous build
i did a full wipe, flashed this rom, then supersu.
after that i manually installed some apps via adb.
so far my experience has been very good considering this early stage of development!
its running smooth, no major problems so far, even the flashlight is working (although System-UI fcs when i activate it)
after a full day of light usage (no calls, no sms) only using wifi for chat/mail/browser and installing some apps, i still have over 80% left.
but when i try to call someone i just get an error saying something like "call not connected."
Here is a logcat: pastebin com /ZrbZTGtL
i think the error happens around these lines:
80. Telephony( 752): TelephonyConnectionService: Could not get subId from account: E
115. PhoneInterfaceManager( 752): [PhoneIntfMgr] getIccId: ICC ID is null or empty.

Thanks for detailed explanation and logcats . I'm aware of this erros.
I'm trying to debug rild to find problems. Also for camera it seems codec error.
I'll look at that too after mobile data. And I can make calls I don't really know why you can't.
Are you using usim? If you would like to test more please send me a PM.
@HaHaBuRGeR:
i don't know how to find out if i have an USIM. according to some older posts regarding my provider all newer sims should be USIM.
i found some code examples but in most cases CDMA was detected as a USIM and GPRS as SIM.
on the sim card i have the letters UJ, the U should be for a USIM card but i'm not sure.. i'd guess its an USIM.
sms are working fine (sending and receiving).
i could receive calls and they were working fine.
but i still cannot make outgoing calls. USSD codes also aren't working.
btw: i got almost 48hours of uptime with no major errors, it's gonna be a fine rom!
still waiting for data, atm thats more important to me.
oh and i cannot send PMs until i have 10 posts...
Google PlayStore problem
I really like your ROM, have used it for week...
I have the last release - working (call, sms, headphones) ok and fast, but I'm not able to install apss from store (I got unknown error code 972 ).
I used the GApps from here: https://s.basketbuild.com/gapps . Which GApps are recommended for you ROM?

You can install and use adb to give me logs about errors. Here is a tutorial about how to use it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
Unfortunate that this a GSM ROM because I'm on CDMA so I could possibly help out

Probably the problem was that I used old recovery for flashing (TWRT, CWM), I got some errors. Today I have used the PhilZ Touch from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764698 and GooglePlay installing apps seems to be working.
Thanks
Interesting! Seeing I still use my HTC Evo 3D as my daily driver, I'm going to try to work on a L version for CDMA and probably start here.
This would be my first try doing anything ROM related in terms of development, so it'll be interesting for me. I wish you luck in getting this thing into a daily driver on this old device . At least we are not forgotten!
No_file contexts
No_file contexts everytime I try to install it? On latest build It just stays on installing update.. adn nothing happens latest CWM recovery I really want to istall it
When I try to install the SELinux-disabled kernel I get this message in the photo. Is it normal? Flashing finishes OK, but when I reboot I still have no su access. I must mention that I have installed this ROM in dual-boot, so recovery sees my primary ROM environment which is ICS.

I have no idea for dual-boot but we don't need SELinux disabled kernel anymore for using su command. You can just flash superSU's latest version, it works well.

It already boots, so force adb isn't needed anymore. And yes, I think it should work on other variants as well.
report it
Btw, flashing it on an other model isn't really tricky, if it doesn't work you can just unbrick

Flashing is not the problem, but force enabling adb would be nice if there are problems with setup or touch
Good work as always! I will try it soon
Okay here's my report.
1) WiFi appears to work fine
2) Sound does not work
3) Camera does not work and neither does the camera button
4) Rotation does not work
5) Browser fails to download anything so I cant install apps
6) There is no file manager
7) Everything looks fine so far
Good work! But another thing is that I didnt realize that installing this rom would wipe my data. That would have been nice to know
Now when I go to TWRP to flash a new zip or restore a backup, it says there is no OS installed.
It seems that this isnt an issue anymore but it was weird.
Nope nevermind. Everytime it tries to boot up, I see the same boot screen as I saw with your rom. This is just getting weirder and weirder...
I figured it out Im totally fine. Sorry if I scared anyone during this adventure.

i tried on E2363 (26.1.B.2.129), it boots and then boot loops, it get to Android is starting, optimizing 1 of 64 and boot loops.
is it possible to create a 16Gb userdata.img (i think its 12213813248 bytes), just a request.

Hmm, probably the rom won't work on your model.
I can make a 16GB userdata, yeah.
But first let me fix the most bugs (Random reboots, Ril, Bluetooth)
After that I fixed those I will surely make a 16GB userdata.img
A new build should be up in max. 3 hours.
I don't know if I fixed stuff, but I tried it
I will update the op(First post) once my tester tested it.

A 16gb userdata.img would be good for the 16gb devices. I'm not exactly sure but I think that the 8gb userdata.img limited my storage but unfortunately I can't fix it in TWRP. Diskinfo lists 16gb but Storage settings list only 8gb. Also do you mind if I text you over SMS and what timezone are you in?

Me Too!
Yes, I tried it and the same thing happened to me, it must be a corrupt download because people are giving the release a 8.3/10. I found a slightly older but highly rated rogue pig version. ( see same link above)
I installed it successfully and must say, it's actually extremely good.
Corruption
The original newer file is probably just corrupted so I am going to try redownloading it. Until then, check out the other version that I placed in the same megadrive folder see the link above. Yes, it's a little older but its actually awesome!
I just attempted to find the newer rom by cold ruthless on the BBS website, has he been banned. I had a bookmark saved and when I click I get this message " Authors are banned or deleted automatically blocked" Not sure if its the same person or not, if this next download is corrupt. I would still recommend flyme_LEX720_rogue_6.8.3.17R-beta, I am testing it right now and like it alot.

No issue like this. Everything worked. It booted fine. You may have to use the recovery version from earlier in the month of Jan.
Everything worked for me except volte which is no big deal. Really impressive build. Thanks for downloading @tsongming..

It looks like what happened to me when going from an Oreo rom to Nougat, you have to format data not only wipe data. Format data, write "yes" and then install the rom. Always have a backup of your data before.
flyme is one of the best system , the official one is good but it's old , be sure to have eui firmware before flashing flyme .

Ok, this is what I have found. Your original latest flyme seems to be working ok. Here is what I have done. Using RAR apk, I unzipped it, and it complained about one apk in mizu-apk folder, and I ended up removing that folder completely, and zipped the ROM again. It flashed without any issue, but I can't seem to get Data to turn-on. It turns on briefly during the boot, but it goes away. I think if I compare the build.prop from older version with newer version, I may be able to find the fix.

Extremely good, at the moment my phone has no OS at all..
I only glanced at battery life briefly yesterday with Gsam battery tool. Plus, I installed BlackScreen 5.3 r2 which worked fine, I would rather wait for a real answer. Otherwise it would just be a guess.
