Apk install file modification monitor? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Be gentle, new poster...
I've been scouring Google Play Market, F-Droid, and the net in general for an app that can Monitor and Log all files/folders created during the installation of another apk. Preferably one that can revert these changes with it's own uninstall sequence.
I'm so tired of having to root around in a file explorer trying to identify and clean out completely useless folders and files left behind by over-reaching apps. ES File explorer pro has a feature that cleans -some- of this crud upon uninstalling an app, but it leaves much behind.
Any suggestions? Pointers? I'm not opposed to creating my own Tasker profile to achieve the results, but I'd rather have a nice neat all-in-one app for it.
[Sorry if this is in the totally wrong forum, or I made any kind of posting whoopsie. Still very new to posting in forums, feel free to berate me and point me to the right place, so that I learn.]

maybe Xinstaller, app cache cleaner, smart booster (3 of them or 2 of them can help for setting things that u want.
@mark manning
sir,
another 1..
please move it to dedicated forum.

I'm looking for the same type of app.
I was using SD maid on my rooted S2 and it was doing some kind of tracking app installations.
And after getting rid of the app, it showed corps from the specific app.
But I think it didn't show all of em.
Cause while using an Explorer like solid Explorer, I still could find some folders from apps I already deleted from my phone.
Not just folders, also library's, thumbnails and many more stuff like that.
It's not a big deal, but if you trying a lot of apps without keeping them on your phone, like me, you will came to that point, where your phone is floated with stuff from apps you aren't using anymore.
So if there is an app out there,at best without needing root, I would love this app and also would be willing to pay for it.
And if there is no app out there, what I can't imagine, we should contact an dev with that idea.
And because I'm an German, don't get mad at my bad English skills.

Afaik, such an app does not exist (yet).
SD Maid's CorpseFinder the closest thing we have right now, but it's passive and database based.
I've looked into this idea already and some things worked, but it was not reliable or safe enough to just start deleting files based the collected information.
It also wasn't very battery friendly.

[Q] Side Loading an App

I read the whole section forum and people are side loading uncompatible apps, but no where does anyone explain "how to" side load an app can somenoe tell me, I have apps on my Galaxy 7in and they are not compatible with the Sony S running Android 3.2.1.
I want my Amazon app store, Pinger texting, words with friends and I have others too!
This is a new toy for me but disappointed that I cannot get these apps
Any help is appreciated!
It's easiest if you have ADB knowledge so you can pull apps from the galaxy tab and push them to the tablet s, but you can get the amazon appstore by going to amazon's website and it'll email you a link to the download. Also, I have words with friends on my tablet which I downloaded from the market no problems. Maybe with the latest tablet s update it is no longer marked as compatible, in which case we'll have to wait for the ICS update for a lot of the fragmentation problems to go away.
Put the .apk file from your Tab on your sd card, then you go into a file explorer type application on the Sony to find the file. Click on it and it should ask you if you want to install.
You should be able to download the amazon app store directly from amazon.com.
Also a nice program that will backup all your settings/files/apks is MyBackup Root, which will put all the apk's in one folder. However looks like the sony still hasn't been rooted?? I'm still waiting for mine in the mail.
Thank you
I am sure some of this is out of my league but I am going to take a shot at it. This is all new to me. I am technically challenged LOL.
I am going to go get the Amazon App Store though.
Thank you for the extra help

If you use Astro File Manager (I know plenty do) on your Tab, you can use Astro's built-in App Manager to backup the apk files from every installed app to a folder on your SD Card. Then just copy this folder to your Sony like any other file, then using Astro (or some other file manager) to click on the individual apps in that folder and choose install.
I backed it up

I really am technically challenged here, I downlaoded the Astro File system, and I backed up the programs I want but I don't know where I backed them up to, it didn't give me a choice as to where to back them up.
Then I dont know how to transfer them from one device to the other. I wasn't kidding when I said technically challenged!
Thank you
Sandy
you could also save apps on a shared drive and install from there using file manager or the same via dropbox, etc
Maybe?
Maybe one of you would be willing to walk me through this procedure from beginning to end and then I will learn it, but right now it is all a mumbo jumbo to me.
We can do it through PM if we don't want to clog up the forum or maybe there is someone else who needs the same help as myself
Thank you
Sandy
Would it not be easier to just use the normal Amazon web page rather than mess about trying to get an app to install? If it's anything like the Amazon iphone app, it's pretty useless anyway - certainly nowhere near as good as using the web page.
I should explain better
I really need to text so I need a texting program that works well with at least some options. Chompsms and Handcent do not work without a phone number and getting an answer from tech support from either of those is like pulling eye teeth,(sorry)
I found a texting program on my galaxy 7 inch that works wonderful and does have some options for larger fonts, a local phone number bubbles so you know who is talking blah blah blah, it is not compatible with Android 3.2.1 which is on my new Sony tablet,
I am trying to side load that and Have no idea what I am doing,
Plus when we get ICS does that mean some of the things that are not compatible now will be when we get that update?
thank you in advance for all the help

Sorry for the slow reply. By default, the apps we be backed up to a folder called Backup on the SD card. In there, there should be your apk's.
Hope that helps

How to: Delete the 'locked' stock bookmarks

Hey guys,
So I really hate stock bookmarks that can't be deleted. It's my phone, and as helpful as Motorola and their advertising agreements might be to some, I don't particularly care for enforced links to Amazon and eBay and the BBC, et cetera.
From my experience with the Vibrant, I knew the 'undeletable' bookmarks could be removed through one of Samaung's desktop management suites, and figured it'd only be a matter of time until I found an app that was sneakily coded and worked around whatever poorly implemented measures Moto use to stop you deleting the bloatmarks in the normal fashion.
That app is ssLauncher, a new (and rather interesting) home replacement on the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ss.launcher
Now, even if it isn't your cup of tea, it isn't as if you have to keep it installed. Just download it from the market, add a 'bookmarks' panel, and long-press to delete the bookmarks you don't want. Bye-bye bloat.
There will be other ways, but this was the first I stumbled across. Hope it helps someone else out.

You can also download Bookmarks SB from the market and delete them through there. That usually works for me.

[Q] Finding and reading an app database.

So guyz, these days i'm playing around with tasker and now i got a pretty cool idea. I already worked with databes and i am able to manage them. The problem is: I don't know how this app stores data, as i am not a dev. I seeked in data/data/package.name/ folder but i haven't found anything useful. The app in question is MyHomework and i precisely want to seek for tomorrow homeworks and write them in a uccw widget. I've done all of this with other apps but i simply can't find the place where data is accessible. Hope i was clear, as my english is not very good :C (and i hope this is the right section, i was undecided between this and android app section, please don't kill me)
The databases are stored in
Code:
/data/data/package.name/databases/databasename
Yeah i know that, i was intending i browsed in every folder in that dir. In databases folder there's only garbage regarding google, chromium and ads; i can't find anything useful. So i deduce this app doesn't store data in databases D: Well is there anyway to take these data?

S8+ (samsung not rooted in general) how to overwrite/replace system apps

I am 99% sure this isn't possible but figured I'd ask in a more general forum (GS8+ was a bust) on if there is a way to replace system apps without root(or an easy way to change a system apk to 'clone' and install on the user side by looking like a different app.)
I've figured out what needs done to force the Samsung Dex app to run without the dock, but due to many reasons cannot side load the altered apk. Changing the app name, installation directory, etc. the phone still sees it as the same apk/app and will not install it. Can't change the version and overwrite from what I can tell because I can't sign it with the samsung key obviously.
thoughts? Directions?
Only thing I can see to do, is rewrite the app complete (names, folder structure, etc. of the needed parts) to actually make it a completely new app to the phone. This looks to be many many hours of work and the route I least want to go. If I can help it.
i know its a old thread, but what needs to be done to force Dex? I have a hard time on my note 10+ it keeps saying faulty usb-c port due to some kind of water not there.

Strange semi-stealthy malware that hides itself

Hi all,
So here's the situation: I have a Pixel 1 with stock (read: overbloated verizon) android. Whatever, I'm lazy and I haven't gotten around to rooting it. I installed a firewall recently for giggles. I'm going through the system apps and merrily blocking verizon junkware when I come across this thing (bear with me for the complete description, as XDA's spam filters are blocking my image links)
It's a system process called 'nobody' with a version number of 10. The Netguard app also gives a number above the name (i don't know what it's supposed to mean) that for most apps seems sort of random, but for this app is 9999.
I try to find this thing in my system app manager, and it's nowhere to be found.
So I keep on keeping on, thinking 'weird, but whatever', and then I come across another app called 'root' with a version number of 10 and (maybe it's a process id?) of 0.
Also, nowhere to be found.
And here's the thing; there's a gear icon in Netguard, that for _every other app_, opens up the system app manager page for that app. For these two? Nothing.
Now, I am not super proficient in android stuffs. My questions for you smart and pretty people are these:
1. How can I go about digging around in my phone to find the files that are running this thing?
2. What's the best way to get more information on what this is? (and yeah, I tried googling 'nobody' and 'root'. It went predictably).
3. How can I prepare a report / who would I send this to? There's gotta be security researchers who could use logs pertaining to this ****.
Yeah, I know that I need to nuke & pave the device. I will. I want to try and recon a little first. So, what do you got?
