Hi,
Were you previously running root on your device or were you trying to root with supersu?
Also are you on stock ROM?
Double check that you are pressing the right button combinations to enter recovery.
Try using a USB jig to get into download mode. If it still doesn't work, your device is probably dead.

Hello,
I am an owner on a i9100g on cyanogenmod 10.1 stable...
The Home button suddently stopped working. I tried to flash a stock rom and I got a successful flash, but a bootloop at restart.
My issues are:
I cannot go in Recovery mode since Home button doesn't work
I can flash using odin using a usb jig to put it in download mode
So... What do you propose to do?
Thanks in advance!

I would like to know if it is an hw related issue or it is related to cyanogenmod.
My issues are:
I cannot go in Recovery mode since Home button doesn't work
If I select reboot to recovery mode the phone restart several times and finally boots successfully
So... What do you propose to do?
1) Flash a stock rom via Odin (so I do not need the Home button)
2) Is it possible to flash a newer version of Cyanogenmod via odin?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I have the same issue, I was in CM 10.1.1 stable and home button not working.
Then, I tried to flash a stock ROM via Odin, and now my phone is stuck in a bootloop...
I tried to flash different ROMS (always stock from sammobile.com) but every time the result is the same: bootloop.
The problem is that as my home button is not working, I cannot go into recovery mode to do a factory reset or flash a custom ROM, neither in download mode (I use a home made JIG for this).
I have also tried to flash the correct OMAP pit file, hoping for it to do a full wipe, but did not work either, my phone is still in a boot loop.
My last hope would be to do a OMAP flash as described here: link
But I am not sure it will fix the problem and this solution is quite risky...
Does anyone have another idea / suggestion ?
Also, I am not confident in changing my home button as it is necessary to remove the LCD first...
@GamingDj: I did not found any i9100g compatible DorimanX kernel, only i9100...
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers
Help
Any help on this issue please ?
My phone is still dead
Fixed it !
I found a way to make it work, and I think it can be useful to some other people.
Here is what I did:
Remove the battery and insert it back in
Insert a USG jig to enter Download mode
Flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com using ODIN, Auto-reboot should be UNCHECKED
Phone will stay in Download mode after the flash is complete. This way the phone will NOT install the package yet
Remove the battery and insert it back in
Plug the JIG to enter Download mode again
Flash the right version of CWM kernel
Reboot the phone
What it did is that the phone tried to install the stock ROM, and ran CWM kernel (instead of the stock one).
The phone boot in Recovery mode with a little instruction at the bottom "Invalid args"
My guess is that CWM does not have the same API and failed to execute the commands.
But... Who cares ? I was in Recovery mode
I was able to Wipe data/Factory reset and wipe cache. Phone is back to life (Home button still broken though...).
Hope this tread can help others in the same position...
Cheers !
Can u use adb?
then, you can enter the recovery mode by using adb reboot recovery

I am on Samsung Grand Quattro. I have a rooted device. My phone has cwm installed. I tried to backup my existing rom and flash a new one. the new rom was flashed correctly. But now my phone directly boots to cwm. I tried to reflash cwm but my bootloader is not recognized by my PCs. I tried adb to go to bootloader but phone boots only to cwm. Please help me reflash cwm using odin. :crying:
You can either use cwm to flash stock recovery and exit the bootloop or enter on download mode and reflash cwm
Did what u said

And about download mode, have you tried it? Do you know how to enter on this mode, right?
(BTW, are you calling "download mode" bootloader?)
Bootloader is accesible

It can be a problem with your drivers. Have you already installed Kies? This program provides drivers for your device, so Odin will be able to recognize it.
And, well... if you can't enter on download mode, I think you will need to have technical support

just saw ur post buddy. thanks for taking the trouble and helping me out. I fixed my phone just now. I charged it a little. Kept trying to go to bootloader. Once it started i reinstalled the drivers. Voila, bootloader connected. I immediately used odin to flash fresh cwm and my rom that i had already installed started working. Thanks!:good::victory:
Hi Folks
I have an old Galaxy S3 i9300 I'm attempting to resurrect. There's nothing on it (I can't remember what was last done with it or when I last used it). I'm trying to flash a bootloader through ODIN but I can't enter download mode on the phone. It comes up with the warning screen, if I try to press volume up nothing happens. Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks
Does the volume key work? Try booting to recovery to test.
Download mode is an entirely separate and secure partition, if that is corrupt then you are unlikely to resurrect the phone.

It seems the volume up key is broken. I'll figure out a workaround - perhaps touch recovery, if I can figure out a way to get into recovery

Well I've been able to flash recovery using ODIN, but I can't get into recovery to load the ROM without the volume up key.. Any ideas?
I was hoping to be able to flash CM11 using ODIN, if that's possible. It doesn't like .zip files. Is there a download source for .tar.md5 versions that can be loaded through ODIN?
Thanks again
Fix the button, adb command to reboot to recovery might work in download mode but you'll have to research.
You can't flash custom rom via Odin.

Hi i was trying to flash cwm but now when i boot my phone all i see is samsung galaxy note 3 and on the top left it says :
Recovery booting...
recovery is not seandroid enforcing
set warranty bit:recovery
It just keeps rebooting i took out the battery and it still does this! I cant get into download mode or anything please help.
I used the odin root file (like a re-root) to fix this when it happened to me
Yep me too
More details like android version...the recovery filename would help. As others have stated, try flashing the cf-autoroot file for the SM-N900P
My guess is that your recovery isnt there. This happened to me once and I fixed it by reflashing TWRP thru Odin

No such thing as a odin root file, jpeery88 is correct just didn't say it quite right. First odin is software used to install (flash) rom and recovery (files) into your device (phone). ROMS are stock or custom and rooted. You need to get into download mode to install a custom recovery first before you can flash a custom rom. Click on ROM flashing basics in my signature for more info on how to get into download and recovery modes, root your device and more . . .

This was normally a job for a USB jig. I've not found anything for a note 3 though. You might take the battery out over night and try again.
Maybe with the sd card out as well.
Finally I think I've read an attempt with battery out but plugged into power.
after that its punt and buy a "new to you" one on ebay; they're like $140 now a days.
Hi,
I'm a new member here, I've been reading this site for a while and I can't seem to figure out how to root my phone. It is my first time rooting a phone, so I'm not 100% sure whether I'm doing it right, but so far I've tried several things and none seems to be working.
It gets stuck in a boot loop and never goes out. Once I got it stuck on the boot and it wasn't looping, but it was stuck.
I tried CF Auto Root and UniKernel v8 and v9. With v9 it was stuck on the booting, no loop. Anything else is boot looping me. I've been trying to root my phone for quite some time but I can't get it done anyhow.
I would appreciate help on this as I really need to root my phone because an application I need to use requires root. Also I'm kinda getting scared when my phone gets stuck. I don't want to hard brick it.
Best regards,

The easiest way to get root is by flashing a custom recovery through odin. After that you can root your device by installing the latest Super Su and a compatible kernel through the custom recovery. Here is link to the thread. Download the zip files to your phone first.
You need to download odin to your pc and install the latest Samsung USB drivers. Reboot your phone into download mode and then in odin select the twrp_5.1.1_edge.tar as AP and uncheck auto-reboot and then press start. When odin is finished press volume down + home + power until the screen goes off. Press volume up + home + power when the screen is off and the phone will boot into the custom recovery and there you can install the zip files found in the thread.
Good luck

No wait it won't, i misread your title. You need twrp for the g920f. Your in the wrong forum here, this is the g925f forum but it's the same procedure. You only need the latest twrp flashable .tar package for your device here instead of the one in the post and use Unikernel found here. And than the supersu zip and that's it
