Anyone else having trouble with their phones after updating to Marshmallow via LG Bridge?
It uninstalled many Google apps including messenger, hangouts, music, maps, android wear, and some others. Plus it uninstalled many other apps as well. I had to go and reinstall and configure many widgets (so there wasn't a compatibility issue). Then whenever I restart the phone, all of the same apps are uninstalled and I have to reinstall them all over again. I've restarted twice now and both times I lost the apps.
Very frustrating!
I'm kinda disappointed. I wanted some visual changes. Its just pretty similar to lollipop.

I knew there weren't going to be any visual changes, but I did not expect all that has happened. I'm afraid to turn off my phone and/or restart it because I'm going to lose a ton of apps again.
I haven't experienced this problem on my phone. Everything seems to be running pretty good.

Weren't supposed to be any. It's intended to clean up lollipop and address some of the issues lollipop had and other user improvements. I'm actually very satisfied with this update. There are a lot of good new features that make the overall experience faster and better.

Tbh I am extatic how fingerprint works with case now. The phone seems snappier and battery is definitely better. So I take my disappointment back lol

I don't see any of these issues I backed up via lg bridge . Updated via lg bridge nothing was wiped all my setting were the same apps etc. And like other user said its ridiculous how snappy fingerprint is even with case. As well as phone.

Don´t know why this has been an issue with mine. I restarted again and this time only the widgets had to be re-setup. At least all the apps were there and I didn't have to download them again, but I'm fearing this will happen each time I restart.
Does the network work well? I can't do this again like updated lg g2 and hated my favorite phone. Should i update my v10? How better is it, besides fingerprint that i don't use?
I haven't noticed any big changes. The fingerprint scanner is much quicker and some bugs have been fixed, but it's seems to suck battery a bit more. I did not reset my phone. I hate resetting up a phone from scratch. It's a 3 or 4 hour deal as it downloads all of the apps again and then there's the loss of each app's data. I don't have my phone rooted, so I can't just use a backup and get it working in a few minutes. I love my Android Pay too much to root my phone (breaks Android Pay).

Hi,
My s5 has been randomly rebooting. Sometimes, it has happening when I am on the call, or in the mid night. Is any one has the same issue? Is the phone defective or hardware problem? My phone is never rooted.

I have been having the same issue. I have had the phone since release and haven't had any problem, until about a month ago. It has rebooted a few times randomly. I am completely stock non-rooted.
I got one time today when I opened the YouTube app. I uninstall the update for the YouTube, and see what is going on
So I've noticed this happening for a few weeks now. Thought something was wrong with the phone and did a warranty replacement. New phone (not referb) does the same thing, just not as often. I think maybe it's an app running in the background now that had a bad update. I'm in the process of removing apps to see if it still happens.

It has happened last mid night again. In today moring, I found my phone restart one time, because I saw the popup notice for reminding the back cover that means the phone restart already. Please tell us what happen after you remove the apps. I think it is the software problem rather than the hardware problem. I don't want to get replacement phone because it is refurbished phone.

Well I'm still trying to determine which app is causing it. For all I know, it could be the firmware T-mo pushed out prior to the latest one. T-mo says they haven't had reports on this issue so I don't want to blame the FW right off the bat. I have ruled out about 70% of my apps and right now have about 5 uninstalled and phone hasn't restarted in 3 days. Below is are the apps I have yet to try and the ones currently removed.
Current Removed:
Code:
'Disable Increasing Ring'
'netflix'
'uber'
'hbo go'
'battery widget'
'2x rdp client'
'pandora'
Yet to try:
Code:
Google Maps
Facebook
Chrome
chromecast
hangouts
tinder
lookout security
Touchpal Keyboard
Reuters
Beep'nGo
Might help if you let me know which ones you have in common above. FYI, I also tried removing my sd card like I saw in a few forums. Also, Tmobile says they don't give you referb phones. They give new phones that were returned to the store within a few days. So openbox, mine looked perfect.

I just do some research online. Many articles are talking about that the android 4.4.2 has randomly reboot bug. I think this the common bug for the 4.4.2. Hopefully, the 5.0 is rolling out for international version. I think t-mobile will update the s5 to 5.0 soon.
Its the 4.4.2 firmware. Its because of all the apps updating to the new lollipop 5.0 but where still on kit Kat. Remember now these apps are set to run on art now so i believe there conflict between the dalvik thats the norm. On 4.4.2. I noticed if i run my SM-G900T 4.4.2 in art mode the rebooting stops. So at the end of the day this means when 5.0 is released to our S5 the reboots should stop. If your bothered by the reboots just run the 4.4.2 in art mode. Good day☺

Could be.? I'm just making an educated guess that it's the fact that when our apps like YouTube, Gmail ,ect.. updated it seems that's when my reboots started. Volte could be a cause to. Your guess is as good as mine. But I truly believe it's the fact that the updated app where modified to art and 4.4.2 is dalvik. ?? I'm sure when the 5 update comes this will be resolved ☺

1.) Go into Settings, and About Device. Where it says: Build number press on this over and over again until it gives you the Toast message: Developer Options Turned On (something to that effect).
2.) Go back into Settings, and just below Security and above About device, you will see Developer options. Open this.
3.) 4th Item down is: Select runtime system. It should say: Use Dalvik. Change this option to: Use ART. It should work for a little bit, then Reboot your phone.
4.) All done!
Note: If you plan to Root your phone, and use Xposed, it is NOT compatible with ART runtime. If you plan to stay unrooted, or not use Xposed if you do root, then you are fine. You can always switch back if you decide to do this.
So I see the various issues with installation, and rooting. Aside from all that, for those that have it installed what are your early impressions on performance?
Thanks.

It's incredibly smooth and great improvement over kitkat, they did a great job with this release in my opinion
Is there really much of a need to root anymore? I'm not flashing ROMs, was mostly using it for a few apps. But wondering if I need it anymore.

I'm waiting for news on FoxFi. I don't use it a ton but when I do its great
I can't add widgets. Every time I try, Touchwiz force closes.
Edit: Fix : Modify Gestures and Airview settings , reset them etc , it worked for me afterwards.
Can you clear cache?
So far I like it it is smooth, buttery so, quick, and so far very stable for me. I haven't had many, if any, bugs so far. I do like the new look of *shudder* touchwiz which is a miracle for me. Ran Antutu and didn't see as much of an improvement as far as that goes 27000 from the 22000 I was rating at, however, on aosp I was over 30k
Hmm. I usually test out around 28-29k. Wonder what will happen with LP.

I had FoxFi installed and configured before updating. Still works just fine.
After struggling to get my system cleaned up enough to take the OTA, I finally upgraded today. Had root and Xposed primarily for cosmetic reasons. So far no regrets. It was a little sluggish for most of the day but seems to have settled in nicely. No real issues other than initially having trouble updating Google Play Services. The Play store simply didn't want to finish the download, but eventually it did. Also the phone was running hot for much of the day and battery life wasn't great, but I was also in some poor service areas. I'll report back if it continues.
Other than that, I'm loving it. Might wait a few more months before getting a new phone now, even though my contract is up in June.
5 is smooth, but the phone runs very hot. This is with our without location turned on.

I am running stock rooted lollipop on MDK bootloader. Performance is good so far better than on KitKat.
First time poster. Long time browser.
Just took the OTA. Formerly rooted on KK. Was a little laggy at first but has gotten better. I like the look. Contract is up in a month and figured whatever I get next will have it anyways so I might as well see what it's all about.
I flashed the rooted oc1 from nc5 and WOW
touchwiz lag is no longer a thing. Samsung finally let you access the camera from a secure lock screen. pattern lock doesn't lag anymore. you don't have to jump through hoops to change your wallpaper for home and lock screens. messages actually send.
on top of that, everything is stupid fast. this is the best thing Verizon and Samsung have ever done, and at this point the galaxy s6 doesn't seem so bad.
Don't remember which update removed SD card write privileges, but they appear to be back. I can once again use ES File Explorer to copy music/pictures to my SD card (running stock, unrooted).
Win some lose some, it looks like some available actions using the Secure Settings app (usually paired w/ Tasker) have been stripped away: toggling data on/off now requires root.
Everything seems smoother, noticeably swype.
Not really digging the new notification cards that cover the top section of the screen and sit for maybe a whole 10 seconds before going away.... are they bothering anyone else?

The SD card functionality isn't fully there. Multiple apps (eg ttorrent) still can't write to the SD card. I was able to do it under Kit Kat after installing an app to restore that function. Is anyone else experiencinthe this? If so, is there a fix coming (or an internal setting I am missing)?

Hi All,
Anyone here have any issues with Smartshare.Provider killing your battery remorselessly? I can never make it happen but at random times sharing a picture results in my battery being almost completely drained in 2-3 hours. If I remove it I have no gallery. Please somebody help me be free of this on a permanent basis? This little thing is making me hate LG with a passion!
Nobody??
Have absolutely none of you run into this? I can replicate this on 2 LG G5's running 2 different roms. This isn't an issue with a specific rom but rather a **** sharing service included by LG so that you can share your selfies to an LG Smart TV. I don't even have a smart tv and this service is ruining the use of this phone.

I don't use Smartshare at all, I have removed it via the Fluence HD patch. Also, why would anybody use such an App at all? Just share your screen via Chromecast and start some gallery app.
If you are rooted, you can also use the Fluence HD patch to debloat your device, or you can manually uninstall system apps with tools like 3C Toolbox (available via Play Store).
In case you aren't rooted, you should be able to at least freeze such useless apps.
This should work for you if you cannot root your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
Again it happens.

I don't use it. When I tried to rip it out I broke the gallery. It pop up at random times and just annihilates my battery. How do I know it's happening? I feel my pocket heating up as my battery hits 20%, in fact it just happened again and I haven't shared a single thing today from my phone. This is just a terrible piece of bloatware!
Also, I am on RomAur 1.1. Will that patch work for my Rom?

Since you are rooted, you can use 3C Toolbox/ Titanium Backup/ something similar to deinstall it. If it breaks the LG gallery, so what? Install another gallery and call it a day.

There are 4 SmartShare apps listed in TiBu - all 4 are frozen and Gallery still works. Maybe try TiBu yourself

Hello folks,
I'm not getting push notifications on my phone, i use Whatsapp for messaging and calls and it works but when the screen turns off for a long time the app gets killed or something and i don't get messages nor calls through Whatsapp, until i wake up the phone and launch the app. That's when i get all the notifications and missed calls.
Things i've tried:
Changing the phone to performance mode
Protecting the app from closing when screen turns off
Leaving the app open and locked sliding down on the recent apps tab
Reinstalling and updating the app
I don't know what else to do this is driving me crazy. I was planning to stay with the stock Android but all these weird configurations make me consider going with Cyanogenmod if i can't fix it.
Going to CyanogenMod is a good decision. EMUI has problems in handling whatsapp notifications, which they say will be fixed by OS updates.
The problem of killing apps remains in EMUI till now. EMUI says killing apps is good for RAM management. But they should give more idle time for the app before killing it. You could have seen the reviews everywhere that the RAM management is not good in EMUI. Its default behaviour. You cant change it.

Damn that's pretty bad and should have been fixed by now.
i regret buying this phone if i'm forced to install a custom ROM to make something basic work.
Also the EMUI interface is disgusting so i guess i'll be installing Cyanogenmod anyways. The stock Android interface is much nicer.
Do i just flash the ROM and gapps from my SD card or there's something else i should do? Unlock bootloader or something like that?

EMUI is just so app unfriendly when it comes to RAM management
I haven't flashed the custom ROM yet, emailed honor US support a month ago to see if they're planning to fix it but they ignore my emails.
I'll end up selling the phone and getting Xiaomi if CM13 gives me problems.
Sorry for the offtopic but is there a way to back up the stock Android in case i need to go back?
You can always adjust the minfree values using several apps.
I think it has nothing to do with RAM, because it kills the app even if there's nothing else running.

you can look into this
Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery Manager > Protected Apps
Here you can select all the Apps you want to keep running even after the screen goes off for a long time without auto-killing them
hope this helps you even without switching to CM
or
check this
go to the App Info. of those Apps which you feel they are being killed and click the Battery and then check the Keep Running after screen box
as you find in attachments
After updating to latest Android Wear app for my phone, the app just shows a blank screen with the usual cloud background -- no watch face options, etc. It shows the watch as connected, but I can't get to any of the settings. Same thing after rebooting both the phone and watch, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app. When I use Titanium Backup to restore the previous version everything is fine again. Anyone else encountering this?

no problem here
Well, hmmm....I wonder what my deal is? I've tried it quite a few times and no dice. I guess I'll just keep using the old version and wait to see if another update fixes it. I had to do this once before when the watch was running Wear v1.5, too. I'm pretty sure the update is mostly cosmetic anyway, so I doubt I'm missing much. Thanks for the responses!
PS - Good to see you here scjjtt!
I factory reset the watch and paired/set everything up all over again and now it's working. A few other things are actually working better, so apparently something was messed up even though the problem with the AW app was the only thing I noticed. Setting up the watch all over again isn't that difficult to do with Wear 2.0.
