Trying to downgrade from 6.0.1 to lollipop - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I successfully unlocked bootloader and rooted my nexus 9 wifi currently on 6.0.1. I've been trying to flash a custom rom to downgrade the android software to either 5.0.2 or 5.1. I would wipe the cache data etc and flash the ROM and 5.x gaaps. When I reboot I get stuck on the Google screen forever.
What I'm I missing or need to do in order to downgrade?
Thank you for any help in advance!

Bump. ..anyone?

Flash the factory image for the version your trying to downgrade to.
Your bootloader and vendor images probably need to be at the same version as your rom.

[Q] OTA Updates on rooted, unlocked, TWRP Phone?

Hi All
I have a nexus 9 with an unlocked bootloader, root (from CF auto-root), and TWRP installed, currently on 5.0.1 LRX22C. I have read this means that I will not be able to complete an OTA due to lack of stock recovery and changes within the system files that the OTA will check.
So my question is how much of stock do I have to return to be able to do the OTA to 5.0.2 and 5.1 later today. I am hoping that I won't have to do a factory reset and wipe all the files and apps, but if so nevermind.
Do I have to relock the bootloader?
Do I have to flash back to stock completely or can I just flash a stock recovery?
If I wait will a flashable zip be created by someone, that would allow me to keep unlocked and rooted?
If this has been asked before, I am sorry, I have searched but couldn't find any clear answers that were related to lollypop.
I am used to samsung phones and the nexus ADB sideloading ect. is taking me a while to get used to, so any link to a guide would be very appreciated.
Thanks for any help,
OTA appears to checksum the entire partitions, so even remount RW could have an effect (with no intentional accesses, depending how the filesystem works). However, this doesn't make a lot of sense since any update is going to struggle to replicate the same raw filesystem data reliable - maybe this is why we are seeing 5.0.2 OTAs fail on 'stock' devices.

Do not relock your bootloader. It is not necessary.
Since you are rooted with a custom recovery, if you want to take the OTA, you will have to fastboot flash the stock 5.0.1 system.img, recovery.img, boot.img, and vendor.img.
IMHO, it's just as easy to fastboot flash the 5.0.2 factory images and forget about the OTA.

Okay well I think I will wait until the 5.1 factory image is released, backup my phone, then fastboot flash it.
I guess I will then have to reroot and add TWRP again?

Do it in the other order. Fastboot flash TWRP, then flash SuperSU from inside TWRP. Very easy.

Updating only bootloader

Hello,
I have installed the 6.0.1 beta but did not first flash a rom with a recent bootloader, hence I can't flash a recovery.
Is there any way to only install the latest bootloader, without first wiping my phone?
Thanks!
No !
Theoretically it should work, but It would be much more work than backing up and reflashing.
Of cause you can extract the bootloader and flash it, but this will not work!
You need to repartition your device to get the new bootloader to work. So you need to delete everything.
You can do it like this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/help/tutorial-recovery-unlocked-bootloader-t3343416

Unable to update to Marshmallow

Hello everyone,
I rooted my OnePlus X using Kingroot. Now that the update for Marshmallow is available, I am willing to update my unit to the same. I had unrooted my device using the SuperSU app. After that, I unlocked my bootloader and tried to boot to TWRP and install OTA update, no success. I also tried installing the update via stock recovery but it shows installation failed.
Also tried resetting my device and then installing the update but no dice. Nor do I have the unrooted backup. Also, have changed the system font.
Tried searching the forums. Please tell me how can I update to the official Marshmallow latest build?
Device Information:
Oxygen OS version: 2.1.3-x
Bootloader State: Unlocked
Recovery: Stock
Thanks in advance!
You need this update file. Because rooted your opx!

What about the system font? And will I get OTA updates as I have unlocked my device's bootloader?

Doubts? Feel free to ask
I suggest you go step by step, from 2.1.3 upgrade to 2.1.4, move to 2.2.2 then 2.2.3, finally the MM, It worked in my case, I was also on 2.1.3 and faced trouble.. Hope it helps you.
Infact, after upgrading to 2.2.2, the system should have been unrooted. Just flash stock Lollipop recovery and leave it. You should get the rest of the updates as OTA immediately.

Did you check that the OEM unlocking was enabled after you unlocked the bootloader? Maybe that can be a problem. And I guess flashing the OOS Marshmallow build is possible only with the stock recovery (if you do not want to delete some lines from the code). So I'd stick to stock recovery if I want to update the OOS.

I guess this is more logical to do right now. Maybe it's something in the system that can be overwritten after upgrading to OOS 2.2.2. Because when I flashed the beta testing ROM on my device when I had the OOS 2.2.2, it worked just fine. But I guess it won't work if you don't have an older version of OxygenOS because of the small tweaks

So, I should flash 2.1.3 via stock recovery and then go to 2.2.2, right?

You could just update the ROM by checking for updates in the about phone

Has anyone managed to find the official 7.1.1 firmware for XT1650-03 RETEU?

I want to restore my Moto Z XT1650-03 to factory state so I'm looking for the official RETEU firmware.
Currently, the bootloader is unlocked and I have 7.0.0 installed with no-verity patch. Otherwise, stock.
I have the 7.1.1 OTA notification but it fails to install. I think the reason might be because of the no-verity patch or because of the unlocked bootloader.
I am looking for the correct firmware for my phone. (RETEU)
Help would be appreciated.
I've the same problems. OTA Update always made an error, even after reset all data.
I tried to flash like described in other thread (HOW TO UPDATE....), managed to flash older NPLS25.86-30-12 and then sideload the 7.1.1 update. All seemed to be fine, until the next reboot of device, then boot loop (?!).
Now I'm even unable to reflash the 7.0 because of a downgrade error... I didn't made any greater changes, only the open bootloader.
Flash 7.0 firmware stock, remove lines command GTP and Bootloader in Script

How to do a clean flash?

Hi all,
I followed the updates and bugs of the new version and decided to keep my pie system until annoying bugs for me would have gone, so I've decided that is the right time for a clean flash of my device.
I'm currently on stock rom, with unlocked bootloader, magisk and much more.
I wanted to ask how can I do a clean flash of the latest version of the released Android 10, in a way that I erase everything on my phone, put the new rom, and keep magisk and unlocked bootloader.
If I flash through the fastboot image, I get to unlock the bootloader again? How does it work with double partition and the newest android versions?
I miss my opo with lineage and no partitions or recovery problems
