Hi everybody,
I'm having problems with my Tablet S when connecting to an OpenWRT wireless router (D-Link DIR-825). Half of all pings are getting lost (it's working for 10 seconds then for 10 seconds no pings are getting answered).
When using browser, i often have to reload page, because it is not allways loading at the first time.
Now I tried to temporarily connect my old Fritz!Box wireless router (on the same network). This is running flawlessly
So my question: Is somebody else running his/her Tablet with an OpenWRT device (with or without problems)? Any suggestions what could be going wrong here?
It's not openwrt, but I'm using a linksys wrt54g with ddwrt (v24-sp2 micro) and only having disconnect issues when large playing videos trought SMB sharing. Everything else is working fine. It's seems to have issues with high loads.
In others routers I didn't get this problem.
I'm also using DD-WRT and no problems at all, even with ICS , if anything I have slightly better reception now
I'm not running OpenWRT, but my custom *nix router is working flawlessly.
Check that you don't have any QoS rules or weird firewall rules set and see if that fixes your problems.
Hey guys I've recently checked that there's a new version 15 of openwrt........so I want some things to be cleared..
1.) Is there any size increment with this version..
2.) Will it be updated over Stone age version(3.8)
Lol...
My router is iBall-baton iB WRA 150 N adsl2+ single band router (best most selling and 30$)...
Ok it is nothing but a clone/rebranded version of TP-Link TP-WR741 and some guy at wrt forums posted mod file but the user is inactive and his links too..... i just wanna know if i am good to go... im over stock firmware.......and main concern is that WILL THAT ROUTER HAVE ENOUGH INTERNAL MEMORY TO FACE AND STORE LATEST WRT VERSION 15.**** ......IM Impatient to try out but is covered with dark cloud of fear of bricking......and if i did such thing, dad will kick me out of the house...seriously..thats why consultancy was the best option i was with....im on stock firmware version 3.0.0 and thats barely 2mb....and the version on site and the factory default version is same.... I'm not sure that is it full or a patch.. but i hope you can answer this question..

Same problem whit Android devices in wifi. I tried Gargoyle, LEDE, Open WRT and DD-WRT
I have TP-Link Archer C7
Any solution?
Hello Enzo, I don't have that router anymore. With new routers the wi-fi problems have gone away...
I have an Asus Slider Sl101. Around 3 days ago, our router had been changes as the previous one wasn't working properly. Our carrier is Charter and our router is Netgear. We hooked every device up to that new router and everything worked fine, including the tablet. But later on in the day,the Internet on there stopped working.
It shows that it's connected, but when I try to access the internet through the browser, it does not work. The blue line at the top of the browser starts up, moves forward a little, and stops entirely while the browser then says "Webpage Not Available". Apps that require Internet, such as Accuweather and my SAT apps, fail to work as well. Other devices that use our wifi include another computer and Nintendo DSi and 3DS. They all work fine. Our router shows that our android is connected to it, as well.
I've tried the static IP stuff, restarted the router, left the wifi off on the tablet for a few hours, and turned it off and off. I even factory resetted it and not even that helped.
I apologize in advance if I haven't given enough information; that's as much as I know save for whatever I can include from the tablet (IP Address and such).
Try changing encryption method

I'm sorry, but what is an encryption method?
Also, I just went to Starbucks and the Internet worked fine, so I know that it's not the tablet that giving problems.

It can be modified from the admin panel of your router. Obviously, each connected device must be upgraded to the new encryption method.
However, you can simply do a test and see if the connection works

Oh! Under "security", it says "WPA/WPA2 PSK". I believe it has always said that, even with our old router.

Probably
If the problem is not of the device, many network problems are usually caused by encryption or are due to the channel where the router works. Both settings are settable in the admin panel.
Try changing these.. Remember to make a backup first!

The things is, though, my tablet was working when we changed the router. Ever since then, nothing has changed when it comes to settings and all. Every other mobile device is working well and the computer out front that uses wifi works well.
In your eyes, the router seems to be the main problem, right? Do you think if we call our internet provider--Charter-- and ask for a new one that it might be able to work as it will be new and all? Or will it most likely not help too much?

If the problem is the settings of the router, this will not solve the problem..
The device successfully connects to other networks? You can do this test to see if the problem is the device or not.
hi sir i have already hack wifi paasword but not connected
password is correct sometime before i have connect
Is the router 2.4 or 5ghz, and is the tablet the same?
Hey everyone, I wanted to put together a thread focusing on wifi issues of different variety and what we can do to potentially fix or workaround the main issues
I personally have been working on a solution for the discrepancy that disallows me to connect to my enterprise wifi at work, lollipop and previous versions connect just fine. So far ive found this issue. May not be easiest nor even possible for some of the issues some of us are having, but i think its worth working towards solutions.

What wifi issues? You might need nrw router.
I was able to connect via guest, then they had lock it due to bandwidth consumption. I have password since im a supervisor and my other phone (5.1.1) connects just fine. The nexus says saved, but when i click connect nothing, doesnt say obtaining ip or authenticating. Credentials are correct and connected before to same network without lock

Does your nexus connect fine to other wireless networks? How can you blame it on the device instead of going and fixing your work network settings instead? There are no wifi issues. Call an IT guy and he will fix your router.

Interesting, I just read through a lot (more than I can believe) of that issue log. It sounds like its technically not a Google/Android 6.0 problem even though the problem arose with the upgrade to 6.0. Have you considered doing what Nick suggested and reaching out to your enterprise IT administrators at work to see if they can or plan to do the necessary updates?

Yeah it connects to others but all devices lollipop and older including iphone and blackberry connect fine. And its known that android m has issues connecting to some wifi that works fine with all other devices. If you do a quick search youll see basically all 6.0 devices (nexus 6, etc) have same issues once updated to 6.0 (hit or miss depends on network they try to connect to, but same story just fine before update). The IT dept are not going to change settings on their network that works fine with 99.9% devices that people have there, since im only one so far with a 6.0 device (IT request MAC address when you get pass) it obviously is some sort of security policy within the os or something of that nature

Yeah, they are hesitant to change what works for almost everyone that connects to it. Also i think itd be a good thing to work on since most IT admin wont change for the very few with newer devices
On a side note i do feel like its more or less a cop out of them to claim its not 6.0 fault because when push comes to shove it works fine but once 6.0 it doesn't and nothing changed on the network
When I had my Nexus 5X, I had issues connecting to WiFi at home until I used the Network Settings Reset option under Settings > Backup and Reset. I think this issue came from the restore of settings during initial setup. Possibly worth a try.
Still, the issue I'm running into now is that my 6P only connects to one of the two routers at home. I have both broadcasting the same SSID though they're different brands and one's an older G router. On my Moto X running 5.1, the phone would connect to the strongest signal. Seems the 6P will only connect to one and never connect to the other. I've had the phone "forget" that one and connected to the other and then it refused to connect to the original. Very odd.
My point in saying this is that I wonder if there's a similar issue occurring in the OP's office. Though the same SSID is being broadcast, its as if the phone remembers the MAC address of the specific router it originally connected to and refuses to connect to any others. Just a thought.

Just tried and sadly it didnt work
Tell the IT dept to upgrade their radius auth
I'm also having WiFi connection issues with eduroam (an often used protocol in UK universities) amongst other including my home dual band ac network. It locks out and can only be resolved by a reboot, which then takes 30-60 seconds to power off. Not normal or 'just an admin' issue. It seems to be software related as it is not constant nor predictable (ie it's not in certain areas and a reboot always reconnects). I'm unconvinced by the 'speak to your network admin' argument as it is neither useful or realistic and incompatible on my current patterns of usage or the issues being reported more widely.
My 6p works fine on my wi-fi router at home, but when I go over to my son's house, I have to go into Advanced Wi-Fi options and change the frequency band from automatic to 2.4 GHz only. Then I have to cycle my wi-fi off and back on. Then it will work on his router. Otherwise, it with keep trying to connect and fail every time.
Rob
Yeah, these are the issues (including the issue im having) that im talking about. Theres clearly issues with wifi on 6.0. Its not an issue with the hardware, nor is the solution "buy a new router" or "must be the settings on your companys network" granted most people can connect everywhere they've tried but if they tried where we cant connect or have issues they'd have same problem. Im thinking its a problem due to security policies or something along those lines but we should be able to alter, remove, or opt out of them at our own risk. Just thinking out loud.
Which build are you on? Mine ends in k. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3248499
Hey guys,
I tried to find something about my problem, but there's only on thread here with a similar problem without any informations, so I decided to create a new one.
I'm sorry if there's already a solution and I was too dump to find it... If there's one, I'd be very thankful for a link.
So.... I own a X829 6/128 with a German SIM and it works very fine for me. After trying different ROM's I'm now at RR 5.8.5 @ 7.1.2 and it's really good.
But it doesn't matter which ROM I flash, I'm tortured by constantly wifi-drops.... In the meanwhile I even changed the router and repeater at home to different devices, played with the 2.4- and 5-GHz-bands and channels, and it doesn't matter what I choose (2.4/5 on the router or 2.4/5 on the repeater): The phone is constantly dropping the wifi.
Sometimes it's working for 30 minutes, sometimes it's dropping the connection after 5-10 seconds... I flashed different radio's, but no change.
It doesn't matter if I'm doing something "online" or if the phone's just lying on the table.
Thanks alot in advance!
Lot's of greetings an Merry Christmas!

But to be honest - i just realized when i read your post ... to me its like 99% its working and sometimes not then its in 3g 4g network. I usually do not even realize
Hey there,
nah, for me it's like vice versa. Mostly I can't even do a speedtest without the connection dropping...
Loading news? I have to try several times...
Download something? Hahaha, forget it!
Since the X829 has no B20 I really need Wifi at home, cause here's only Edge available besides LTE.
I'm really out of ideas.
Yesterday I found a thread about a Samsung phone with some similar problems, where the solution was diable the localisation via Wifi/Bluetooth, so I changed mine to GPS only, and it was working like a charm - at first.
After like 30-40 min. the same error occurred again.
Btw:
Here's the Hardware I have tried at home:
- Telekom Speedport Smart Router (Huawai) - replaced
- Telekom Speedport W925V (Arcadyan) - current
- TP-Link RE200 AC750 Repeater - replaced
- Netgear EX6150 AC1200 Repeater - current
As I said... I tried every configuration with a/b/g/n... Different channels instead of automatic...
It's really annoying.
Thanks alot for your help, but now go to you family y'all!
It's Christmas! This has time until after the holidays!

Soooooo..... You haven't really mentioned trying it elsewhere. Have the same problem at a different location? Do you have multiple devices using the WiFi? I had a similar problem when I bought a smart TV, while streaming Netflix router "kicked" off the other devices.

Yes. I haven't any Wifi's to try nearby. And when I connected so one in a restaurant for example, I haven't watched it all the time.
In the meanwhile I disabled the WiFi of the Router. I connected the repeater via cable and set it up as AP. No changes (the router can't drop a device which is not directly connected to it, right?). Also I gave the phone a static IP outside the DHCP-range, to make sure the router (DHCP server) can't kick me via releasing the IP.
(I've tried that because we use TV-over-IP "Telekom Entertain"... Usually the router uses WMM/QoS to make sure the bandwidth is always enough for TV Unfornately I can't change that, so I decided to set up the repeater as AP)
No real changes. Sometimes (like now) it's working like a charm. Sometimes it's dropping like every 10 seconds.
PS:
While I wrote this there was only one drop. ^^

Hmmm. I don't have that much experience with routers. But I can suggest 2 ideas.
At some point, at a different location, confirm its your device with the problem.
Second is try a VPN from your max.
Seems like a simple solution your missing. Assuming your phone is in working order, software solid, just WiFi dropping out sounds crazy. Especially if there hasn't been any other instances around the forum.
Good luck, sorry I haven't really helped.
Hello, I have the same problem as you, the only solution I found was to install the Rom CUOCO 92 28s, after installing, you go into WIFI, then advanced settings, look for WIFI frequency band, select "use only 2.4GHz band So, after that normal wifi works, unfortunately you're going to have to go back to Android 6.0.1, but your wifi will work

A VPN would also drop (it's not the transfer itself, the whole connection is gone), I think. And I noticed this problem first since I flashed an Android 7/N-ROM, as itsbianchi said.

Thanks alot! But I don't really wanna go a step backwards. I hope there's a stable/official 8/O-ROM soon to try. And I still can't figure out why they put away the possibility to manage your networks/settings on your own. -.-
But if there's no other option, I'll give it a try. Thank you!

Some update
I found in the dev-settings an option for a "more agressive handover" to mobile network.
When my understanding is correct it should handover to mobile network ealier, if the wifi-signal is weak. I just activated that setting, to see if the the connection is lost more often (because I thought that maybe the threshold of that setting is too high -> switching between my Wifi and Mobile all the time). But it seems that it's more stable now... I dunno why. I just checked it like an hour ago. Maybe there's no change, since sometimes the connection is pretty stable and sometimes it's dropping all the time. I'll just try it for the next hours/days...
Btw:
I was in a restaurant with an open wifi two days ago: Not one drop while I was there (I checked the connection as often as I could).
Maybe some food for thoughts for you guys...
Friend, enter the LAN settings of your router, but in the protocol of IPV6, and disable the assignment of IPV6, I was col this same problem.

I have similar problems with wifi. Wifi connection does not drop but I can't download large files or I can't install apps from Google Play store larger than 5 MB. Download process stops after several megabytes. I tried so many ROMs including Cuoco92's 23S and I tried "use only 2.4GHz band" setting in 23S but I haven't tried Cuoco92's 28S. Because I read a lot of bad comments about Cuoco's 28S. Do you think should I try Cuoco's 28S?
Or is it a hardware problem?

Tab S3 worked well on 7.x. Lost wifi completely address 8.0 update. Tried all the recommended forget connection, reset network, full wipe after ota . When all that failed I flashed the full 8.0 with Odin. Still had no wifi. Repeated all those reset steps again with no joy.
Strange part is the same situation occurred with my LG V30. Worked well on 7.x, no more wifi after ota to 8.0. Repeated the resets and full flash series again but still won't connect.
My Razer Phone and One Plus 6 phones connected to the same wifi out of the box (with 8.0?), ota'd to 8.1 and have been solid since.
Am I stuck waiting for Tab 3 / V30 flashable (stock) files to 8.1?
You can download some network tools from the play store. See if they help you pinpoint what is going on. You don't happen to have MAC address filtering turned on the router? Though doubt your MAC address would change but I did read an article where Apple changed the MAC Address in their iPhones after it was discovered the government tracked people by MAC address. So it is possible it changed. See if you can hit a public WiFi (library, coffee shop, etc) and get it to connect there? Or a neighbor's network?

Just set the hotspot on one of the working devices and see if you can connect to it.
Is the wifi actually enabled?
I had the same problem happened to my Tab S3 a few days ago after I upgraded to Oreo (8.0) I could connect to WIFI but it says I have no internet connection. I have tried different routers and at different places and still the same problem. Strangely, I can connect to internet from time to time (intermittently) despite my Tab S3 giving an exclamation mark on the WIFI signal and warned me I have no internet access. I have tried resetting network, factory reset no less than 5 times, and also tried connecting at different places. I have read somewhere that by changing the time on the unit fixed the problem for quite some people, but didn't work for me. I did not root my tablet, so now I'm stuck looking for solutions.
update 2018.12.05: there was a new patch out (Oct. 2018), so I updated my S3 and now it still doesn't see internet even after connecting to WIFI. I tried resetting and now I can't even pass the Agree to Terms & Conditions part as it still says I have no internet. Before the patch update I could at least access internet even though tab S3 thinks I am not connected to internet. Guess I have to try to root it or throw away the tablet.

No have not rooted. All stock now. If all else fails, I guess I will have to try to root and flash ROM and see if my WIFI can come alive again.
