That doesn't work in Odin. It's a recovery zip repackaged as a TAR.

Hi there. Sorry that it did not end up working guys. Its not that I dont know what I am doing, its just that its been pretty hard figuring it out compared to what it used to be. Before, just a few weeks ago, on sprints website, there was a chart that told all of the build numbers and all of the patches that each build had inside of it. Now its gone. All that website is is 2 links to find a new software version or to see what version you are on. So that file posted in the OP here is all I have to base it off of. And when I threw it into odin it seemed to work fine, although I should Have tested it fullly beforehand. I was also in a rush (sort of) becuase my family is going on vacation to another part of the country as this week is April Vacation for the schools in my town. I hope you guys understand why it happened as it did, and for that, I apologise. this is the website im refering to http://support.sprint.com/support/ar...-dvc8080008prd and when I get back to my house I will retry with a linux usb as that seems to be what tutorials point to doing.
It would appear that you don't know what you're doing. The files within a TWRP/CWM flashable zip don't work the same way an Odin flashable TAR does.
You took all of the files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/general/sprint-gs5-android-6-0-t3336758 & changed it to TAR. You didn't even give @djxn40 credit for his hard work. Instead you decided to give people permission to your "work" which actually did do anything at all.

I do know what i am doing. I was just in a rush and didnt cover everything a normal dev would because i was in a rush. I also did not ask permission of any devs as if you look at the main post "rom developers can use this without permission." But @djxn40 didnt upload it, @highspeedfelon did if you look through the thread, @djxn40 just moved it to the op. And that recovery file is the only file i can base it off, because if you search through sammobile, and the sprint support page, youll see the latest version is still OK4, (on the sprint site it says in the top left it was updated on april 7th 2016 but there is no table showing the build numbers and bug fixes like there used to be.) It was an attempt, and I failed, so I will learn from my mistakes. That is all. The link has been removed from the op of this post. I will do something about it when i get back home later this week as im on vacation with my family (april vacation for the town i live in is this week).

If he doesn't know how to give credit you appear to not be able to read an entire thread before flaming his attempt. I don't see you trying to further development. Your attitude doesn't help anything. I appreciate anyone attempting to help keep the device moving forward. Did he rush? Sure. Does it deserve being flamed? Not really. Take a nap or a Prozac and come back with a better attitude. Jesus.
Why does it even matter who uploaded the update.zip its a free download? I don't care who uses that update.zip or what they use it for.
Mates, why are you arguing? I have Android 6.0.1 Official. So, it is proof this exists. But this, isnt it.

This should work (please let me know if it does not. Also should not trip knox but Im guessing most people who are viewing this already have anyway . Simply Download on your PC, put your device into download mode (power off phone and hold volume down, home button and power button and let go when you see the download mode icon) and place the file in the AP slot in Odin.
LINK HERE: file doesnt work in odin, explanation in reply below. will fix in a few days when i get back. I apologize.
Rom Devs feel free to use this for whatever without asking permission.

Whats the point of posting the "black crush" test. Everyone's monitor is different and it doesn't display any real actual results. I personally couldn't care about the "black crush" issue (if there was one). Its a cell phone, not a home theater display where such a thing would be an issue.
what root will work on the new stock ICS? I have it installed, but no root yet. which should i use?
Will the new ICS OFFICIAL come with the new Galaxy S3 UI/Launcher???
TouchWiz 4 (UX) that would be so nice. Anyone able to confirm???

I may sound like a bigger noob, cuz I have no idea how. Just look at the Galaxy S3 videos. Does it look like the same UI? Weather widgets etc?
coming straight from GB, it looks the same. swype is orange instead of blue. but thats about it. Im sure here soon source will come out and we will have everything we have been waiting for and then some. i just had to taste some official ics lol.
The update does not come with the Touchwiz UX seen on the Galaxy S III. That is a S3 feature.
Can anyone tell me if the notification bar brightness trick works on this build?

1). You went back to stock using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731654

That's what I am trying to confirm with the other poster above...
There is so many way to root (I use this method: link, which involves downloading a 532Mb file), so once I upgrade to ICS, how do I know which root "method" is the right one for ICS?
BTW, could you point me on the thread about rooting using SU.zip and CWM recovery?
Whats the easiest way to root a p7500 without effecting the flashcount
Sorry if this sounds noobish, but what exactly is a flash count?

Your tab should be set on 0 but when you flash with odin [aprt from a stock rom] it adds to the count +1 etc which if your tab breaks samsung wont then fix
You can't, as soon as u flash an unofficial ROM via ODIN, it starts counting, except if you flash a stock rom ofcourse... There must be a way to reset the counter, the device must save the counts somewhere after all. But i don't know what file it is
My counter is still 0 after many cwm flashes, but i'm not sure if samsung also flashcounts the galaxy tab 10.1, as i've never seen a flash counter on a Gtab higher than 0 yet, if anyone can proove me that i'm wrong... Show me

My flash Count is at 11. It does not count CWM recovery... So you can flash CWM and then flash SuperSU zip.
The only reason my flash count is up is due to flashing non-US stock ROMs.
Update: add photo proof
Update2: I have also done two warranty repairs to Samsung with this tab and they didn't say anything about my flash counter...

Nakedninja42, so i'm guessing you live in US, so if you flash an UK STOCK ROM, your tab starys counting, but if you flash an US stock ROM via ODIN, it doesn't count?
So i can root it first using odin without it effecting the flashcount then just flash the roms with CWM

Yes, I was flashing the UK Honeycomb before it hit the US (oh so long ago). It gave me the triangle at boot and took me awhile to realize it was from doing that flash. Then I had to do it few more times for testing other stuff that I can't recall anymore. But if I flash US Stock ROM coming from anything, it does not count.

A tablet is a stupid plastic thing which works with 0 and 1, drivers that tell the tab what to do, and many many maaany more things. The file that's telling the tablet how many flashes you have done, must be on the tablet, so there must be a file what you can delete or rewrite, but where...? Is the question
Good morning/afternoon/evening, all -
I recently hard-bricked my S4 trying to flash. It came up as a QHSUSB_DLOAD in windows device manager. I tried several different approaches to fix the bootloader, but eventually had to send it to a service to try to JTAG it.
He reports it still cannot boot, and has requested - from someone with a ROOTED I545 ON OC1 (do we know anyone like that?) - the following file:
Ok, you need an I545 in OC1 with root access. We need to create a dump of about 128MB. You can do this by using ADB shell and type
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/dump.bin bs=128 count=1000000
This will create a 128mb file on the internal storage of the phone which you can copy back to the computer and send to me.

Take it from someone who worked on this device for a long time. SD Card Debrick does not not work on anything above NC5. We have all tried many times. Looks like beginning with the NK1, SBL1 no longer searches for the SD Card as a bootable device.

I'm trying to find the same I545 OF1 adb dump to use for jtag.
I know the sdcard debrick does not work with OF1, and I already tried injecting the single bootloader partitions that are in the firmware without success.
I'm hoping the dump will solve my issue because of the PGPT, MD5 , MBR or other partitions that may be corrupted.
I am not interested in the efs /MEID..
Thanks!

Warning this is engboot, meaning its not made to be used on day to day basis you may run into some issues. Hopefully we can fix them as we go!
Also do not update supersu through playstore untill we are for sure that it wont mess anything up
Notice from @Chainfire:

SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC.zip
You will need:
- Engineering boot images
- Patched version of Odin3 (only AT&T models ?)
- Extract files, and run root.bat with adb on the path
This version of SuperSU is not officially supported. I recommend against updating the APK from the Play Store, or otherwise updating the binaries, unless someone knowledgable has tried before you and confirmed it worked.
If it breaks, you get to keep all the pieces.

Basically once you have these two files open up the odin included and place the .tar in the ap section should only take a few seconds to flash.
After you are back up download SuperSU made for our phone from here https://download.chainfire.eu/968/SuperSU/SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC.zip
Extract the files to a folder.
Here it may get a bit tricky for some.
Go to your adb install location. Open a command window where your adb files are located.
Change the directory to your supersu folder location from earlier, and run the root.bat from the cmd.
I am not very good at instructions as this is my first time doing anything like this.
For the bounty id prefer if you just donate to https://secure.savethechildren.org/....C01C/Global_Action_Fund/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp
Makes more of a lasting impact then what i could do with any of it.
Again thank you to everyone who helped!
We made it fam!
If you are successful after rooting and can give better instructions please let me know!
Thanks a lot.....you guys are awesome...
Thanks! I'll be trying this for T-Mobile varient. But can someone please mirror the Speedyshare links? I can't download them for some reason. Popup blockers perhaps?

That'll be awesome. Thank you so much for your hard work.
Does this trip knox? Can you please explain what this does and what to expect?
What problems might engboot bring? Will this method work with Verizon?

Hey hey let's not get ahead of ourselves . . .
Good job , by the way Br3w3r !
Will this work for the ATT S7 Edge? When you say not to use on day to day basis, do you do root stuff then revert back to regular kernel?

You can use it on a day to day basis. Dont try going back it will remove what you have done. The issues if there are any are minor.
And yes it is for ATT S7 edge.
I have a few questions here.
What exactly is going on with this root process? Is it installing a recovery? Will this trip knox? I assume Samsung Pay won't work anymore? Can we finally used xposed? If so, which version?
How can one revert if we felt the need to?
I feel so sorry for @br3w3r for having to deal with all of the Q&A after all of this hard work. LOL! But seriously, thanks for all of this.

Warning this is engboot, meaning its not made to be used on day to day basis you may run into some issues. Hopefully we can fix them as we go!
First of all thanks to @Chainfire for helping achieve su and Princecosmy for giving me the odin file and engboot
I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device, same goes for everyone that helped.
First file you will need is here http://www.speedyshare.com/P3ND3/odin.zip
This is special Odin to bypass SHA-256 made by Princecosmy
Second file you will need is http://www.speedyshare.com/M4V94/g935a.tar
This is the engboot. I do not know who leaked it out but @Princecosmywas the one who got it working.

Who is the bounty going to? As much as I appreciate your efforts I want to donate to all that made it happen.
Will our phones lag? I read on another thread that engboot causes our phone to lag.

Please if anyone gets it to work on the T-Mobile variant..... let us know.... thanks...

The email is for @princecomsy, he is going to get it then split with me. Chainfire said he did not want bounty. Even though i feel he deserves it.
Everyone slowwwww down. Root was just established. As for knox, Verizon, and any other questions hold tight. I'm installing it on my Verizon s7 now

I'll be installing soon too. But I'm doing something first.
While downloading G935TUVS3APD8_G935TTMB3APD8_TMB firmware (just in case) I'm also backing everything up with Smart Switch first. Just in case.

Many thanks! Will update as soon as possible
THANKS
Is this an official AT&T version or Samsung? Just wondering if this will remove all AT&T files. I've see Muniz say this in a previous thread, "WARRNING : This are Samsung factory files and they will not get to to AT&T stock firmware. This is what Samsung use to ship they phones. You can use this only if you are in soft brick and you can't flash anything else. "
Just wondering...
Why are people ignoring this?
Why are people ignoring my above post? This is a valid question.

I am not able to flash the u version on top of this. Is it possible to flash the U version on top of this?
Thank you!
After doing another upgrade (linked below) on an AT&T S7 (non-Edge) still 'stuck' on 6.0.1, I ran into a reboot condition after a few presses on the screen.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...to-install-g930u-firmware-sm-g930a-t-t3609300
Gave it another go using your files, and it looks great so far.
Thanks again.
Edit: clarity + G930A phone going from (stock + OTA at the time) U1 (G930AUCU1APB4)
So far so good, thanks for the upload! Looks a little more refined and operates smoother than QA1 for me.

Download they files in the OP of this thread, place them in the appropriate spot in Odin (ap, csc etc.) Boot phone to download mode (bootloader from the recovery menu) and plug into the comp and hit start.
Hello, I have android 6.0.1 and I see this rom of 7.0, if it worked for somebody? Already installed I want to update, but I want to know if, if it works!

It's not a custom rom. It is just the stock QE1 files. It works, i use it all the time when needing to flash back to stock. Just download each file, get the latest odin, and place the files in odds correct spot on odin, put your phone in download mode and hit start.
glad I found this post, got my phone to updated to nougat.... for some reason I can't get OTA on my S7 at&t phone , check update saying my phone up to date with firmware while it on android 6.0.1
Do you happen to have the HOME_CSC version of the last file to preserve data?
Yea, I need the HOME CSC too.
Is there another host it's going to take 18 hours for the AP file from Android File Host?
