I notice that the flash for the camera is little compared to the galaxy II or III. My wife have the g2 and take better photos in low light than my evo.
I pass her photo to my phone and look better than mine.

Hey people first off all I would like to say that I recently bought myself a new shiny S3 and so far love it. The one thing however that disapoints me is the quality of camera. I had an iP4s before this phone and I must say that it took much much better quality pics than S3 especially in low light situations. The difference in quality cannot be unseen, the pics are supernoisy even without zooming. So I'm asking, is it possible that I maybe got a defective camera on my phone? This fact really annoys me because I tend to use camera on my phone quite often.
I took this the other day - would you sat it is poorer quality that what your iPhone shot?

theres been huge comparisons between the 2 cameras. Theres a thread on here that compares them in a bunch of different conditions and if i'm not mistaken the S3 edged out the 4s (sorry i dont have time to link it right now) .
GSMarena did a camera test S3 vs 4S vs OneX vs PureView and the results were (from best to worst) Pureview, S3, 4S, OneX
I guess it just depends on the way you take the pics but i have heard of some models shipping with bad camera modules... Could u post some pics maybe so that we have a comparison
Check the "pictures taken with your S3" thread.. if yours isn't taking pictures as well as the pics in that thread you may have a faulty camera. I've been nothing but impressed with the camera!

I checked that thread and it really looks like my camera is worse. I'm uploading a picture I took this morning and it really looks mediocre at least. The road is super noisy and the sky looks lie it's finger painted. Plus the overal detail of the buildings and cars is below average from what I seen in current smartphones.
Yeah the road is def way grainy and I see what your talking about

basically i just turned anti shake and auto contrast off. that limits the max iso to 800. then you gotta play around with the scene settings~
Hello. I haven't used the camera much yet but i would have the iso off auto and set as low as possible. Image size at 8mp and quality set to superfine. That would be my starting point. The few photos i've taken so far didn't look rough like the one shown by op. Play with the settings and see if there's an improvement.
Some phones have Sony camera (Perfect, better that iPhone's one), but most phones have Samsung camera (Korean ****)
I was pleasantly surprised about the picture quality my SGS3 produces.
Then again I don't expect too much...

my camera is fantastic. granted it wont take the place of a standalone. even videos in the house. people are like dude. its so clear. i think they did a great job :good:
the s3 camera is ok. i still think my htc sensation took better quality pictures. the htc sensation camera has more setting options than the s3. i do a lot of photo touching in post for print ads, with photos, using a professional camera but touching up photos from the s3 vs. my old htc sensation, i would have to say that photos taken with the sensation was much better to work with. the s3 is better with video recording. i do plan to shoot a 5min short film with this phone...just cause.

This forum got some good info on the s3 camera firmware, when I got my s3 and took some photos I thought the s3 camera was crap, then when I started reading some of the review and looking at the pictures I thought something must be wrong, I flashed a custom ROM(fox hound 1.4.4 with Franco kernel) its Seemed to have fixed the the problem...

the camera quality on the s3 is awesome
BUT the 4s'S one is better
thats why you are saying its bad
because you are used to soemthing better
I was surprised that nobody created one of these threads yet. Do it up!
Take pictures.... With a tablet... No.
Just took this pic of my dog. Indoor lighting. Lots of noise in low light situations. Not great but I have an iPhone and a DSLR if I need better quality.

SPRINT HTC ONE VS AT&T LG OPTIMUS G (Mini review)(Comparison Pics & Benchmark Scores)
I recently had to switch carriers so I purchased a HTC one for sprint and I still have my OG-E970 unlocked for T-Mobile
after leaving AT&T.
Honestly I still prefer my Optimus G as of my first week with the HTC One .The boom sound that they made a big stink about is not even that loud as they made it out to seem.Comparing the sound to quality is the thing. The optimus g is louder but the clarity of the boom sound is what makes it better and clear when it comes down to music and videos.I prefer the features of q-slide and quick memo compared to the new blink feed and other HTC apps.Graphic wise I really don't see a big difference. The highest brightness level of the HTC one is a little more then half of what the Optimus G can produce with brightness. The 1080 screen compared to the OG is more clear but not much of a difference to the naked eye.
Both get hot after playing video games and watching movies because of the quad-core chips.
The OG has a slot for micro sd which is great but 32g with the HTC One is fine for me.
CAMERA:The HTC is the better camera front and back but the 4mp(ultrapixel) is useless for anything past social network sharing while the 8mp for the OG is good for printing pictures. You also lose quality when you zoom into pictures with the HTC One but fantastic with low lighting.
This is my mini review,If anyone has any questions about the phones compared to each other.Just ask
And no I'm not abandoning my OG and this is not a goodbye post.Just a phone geek with more then one phone and against the mediocre fame of Samsung. And as a fan of both LG OG and the HTC One for different reasons,Let me ask you. Will we ever get to see a video comparison of these phones on YouTube? Not with Samsung and Apple running around town.:what:
This is purely my opinion for anyone considering to troll.

Kudos for having the guts to post this. XDA, (Especially LGOG) community is very sensitive. They'll probably find offense to this some how lol. Very honest review. I know you picked your likes and dislikes of both phones but whoch would you seriously see yourself using daily? Not in terms of specs, or popularity, but which is more stable and fluid for everyday use?

Considering I only had the HTC One for only a week, there's possibly shortcuts I haven't figured out for daily use but I take many pictures with both phones and quick capture is better with the HTC for multi shots. For multi tasking when I watch movies and YouTube videos and I wanna text at the same time,OG is great for that. Both is terrific for playing apps since both screens are both 4.7 in screens. But to answer your question. The optimus G for multitasking when your bored or at work and The HTC for pictures and movies because of the boom sound speakers. So daily use would be the Optimus G (solely my opinion)

4mp is only good for social media purposes?
Come on....even your full HD TV is only just 2mp regardless of size and at 60 inches you're probably going to be standing a few feet back and still be amazed at how sharp the picture is!
HTC is not dumb to put a smaller MP count camera...it's the size of the pixels that matter when it comes to quality!
Granted 6mp would have been nicer for cropping purposes...

+1, marketing really has these guys good. I doubt any of you are printing poster shots. Also the camera wrecks everything, ever, in low light.
I never said the camera wasn't good but honestly if you try to "blow these pictures" or even zoom in,it loses quality a ton.

Obviously if you exceed 100%. But at 6mp you can print poster size no problem.
I have a 5DMII and when I zoom past 100%, even the 21mp image looks crappy. I stopped pixel peeping a while ago when I realized I would never print past 16x24.

But seriously though I hardly remember that my phone even has a camera.

What made you choose this device instead of others? Will you select your next tablet based on the same criteria or do you care more about some other spec?

In this order:
Development, Processor, Resolution, Price
I came from the fantastic Acer a500, so it had to be a damn good device.
screen res, nexus status. if a new N7 was out with a higher res screen, I would have gotten that. but this was a work purchase, and the fiscal year is ending so I needed to buy now it's an upgrade from my galaxy tab 10.1.
edit: not a reason why i purchased, but the front speakers are impressive, at least compared to my old tab.
Development,screen, front speakers, design
I had a Nexus 7 at the time, and prior to that, a Galaxy Tab.
- I wanted to try a larger tablet
- The specs were pretty awesome
- Rear-facing camera (found it a real pain that my N7 didn't have one)
- Screen resolution
- Front-facing speakers
- Nexus
Was kind of concerned with the pace of development at first. Seems alright now I suppose :good:
Still kind of interested in trying out a Windows tablet for some specific games though...

Why did you make this thread? For post count?
Will you make future threads based on the same criteria or do you care more about spamming the forums?
In other words, did you search before making this thread?
It's a nexus and has soo many pixels. I like pixels. It was most certainly NOT because it has a rear facing camera.
Screen and specs, android, knew it would have a strong development community supporting it, specs will make it decent for a couple years, I travel for work and need something to check email daily, laptop too heavy, etc. And it's a fun toy.
Hdmi, Development, 10".

the screen, the processor, nexus device, that black on black.
why
Have the Nexus 4 already.
Came from a Tablet S and was a bit disappointed in the updates or lack thereof as well as the shell design. Thought it was cool for about a week.
Top reasons:
Standard android
Screen
speakers
My experience so far is excellent with no complaints. It's much faster, better screen, better speakers, better wifi (much). I like some of the Sony apps like Music Unlimited but I can just download them if I want them.
I don't think I will ever buy another non-nexus device for cell or tablet. Price is right and updates are swift.
What made you choose Tablet S ?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
tablet s
Thought it was a bit different at the time. Bought it back in 2011 when it first came out. Kind of bought into the whole it's easier to hold thing with the wide grip on the one side. Also the first to have the remote IR feature (which I never used hardly). I had the X10, Sony Arc and then the Xperia S so was just keeping it in the family so to speak. Still think the Sony UI is very intuitive compared to the Samsung, LG and Htc overlays.
I chose the Nexus 10 because it was the successor to the Motorola Xoom. Stock Android with updates direct from Google. That's what mattered. There was no other choice.
Winning it in the favorite things sweepstakes mostly
