How to get Serial number from IMEI adress? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
i have a galaxy s3 and it's now can't make calls or even enable mobile data so i don't have a network. But i know how to solve it but i have the real imei adress and the problem is that i don't have serial number (is not in the white box under the battery beacause i changed the motherboard and i put a new one which conatins a new IMEI adress and a new SN) Note: when i changed the new motherboard everything was working ok but i lost the SN just now
So all the data in the white box under the battery don't interest me cuz it's for the old motherboard.
So to fix that issue i want a methode to find the Serial Number through the IMEI adress. How can i do that? thanks

Try kies.

Sorry to give you the bad news, but there is absolutely NO relation between the SN and the IMEI. ABSOLUTELY NONE. The SN goes up by 1 at a time, but the IMEI, for the TAC, FAC and SNR it depends on the country of manufacture, the year/month of manufacture, and is assigned to each device in particular. SNR, along with the IMEI is random-ish, but the SN is not. SO this is why you can't retrieve the SN from the IMEI.

The IMEI changed after update ROM!

What is the reason?
my htc touch pro IMEI changed after update ROM(official ROM"like as: RUU_Raphael_HTC_ITA_5.05.408.1_R2_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe")
and then my IMEI changed 17 bits--REMOVED--
when i install any software, the system to prompt the follow information:
"the program is from an unknown publisher.you should install it only if you trust its publisher.do you want to continue?"
I think this is just occasional,so i update ROM again and again.
but the IMEI is "--REMOVED--" all the same!
You probably don't want to post you imei online (maybe that's a fake #; if that's the case, you should say so).
Your IMEI didnt change =/
Maybe for some reason the soft way to see your IMEI is corrupted, but look under your battery, that IMEI is still the same, and that's what matters because if you warranty your phone for some reason IMEI is how they track it. IMEI is basically a serial number for the provider.
^ not true. It is possible to change your IMEI number with certain software. When a call is made the IMEI # is recorded in the provider's billing software. With Rogers for example, this is the case, albeit few reps know how to find this and fewer still care what your IMEI is or isn't.
Not saying whether the OP's IMEI did/didn't change, but the sticker under the battery only shows the IMEI when the phone shipped.
Just like a sticker on the back of a computer may say "windows xp" while its OS is actually "vista"
When you upgrade to a new version (Core) it will add one number to your IMEI only in form. It is still electronically recognized as the same IMEI, so don't worry. what you will find is that the number is the same, but has now an additional digit or 2 in it. This is just like a revision number & will not affect your services at all. This happened when we old Tilt users went from 6.0 to 6.1 & will likely happen again going 6.1 to 6.5 official.
Do you get your IMIE by dialing *#06# ?
yes mate
Imei changed
Hi,
i work for a mobile provider an I changed yesterday my ROM and today I got an Security check on my work and my IMEI changed also, and that was a little problem. Because they have to check my IMEI number, to look that I have the right mobile with me. The problem is, that Security had only the last 4 numbers, but I found out the new added two digit numbers
Cheers
Hmmm...That's what I said above. It is the ROM/Revision number & it gets added to the IMEI. For anything truly querying the IMEI, it is fine. But it seems your setup is querrying the Registry version of the IMEI.
Anytime you upgrade roms, Usually OEM roms, this happens. It started with the first touch & the Kaiser.

If you ran a ROM that had been XIP'd for any reason (such as to make some software that looks to see the OS version to run), this will modify how windows see's the IMEI, however the radio will read it for what it actually is.
This is interesting... when I warranty return my phones to ATT, they ask me to do the *#06# and have me read off the IMEI... Could they tell if I've changed roms via the numbers I read off?
Could it possibly be a secret way to bust us all?

No, no suits, black helicopters and vans unless you start cloning, there are your previous IMEI's on ATT system, they want to validate the problem handset as you have the ability to remove your sim and call them from a working handset, your account is bound to the sim, then there is always the accounts with multiple active sims, they just need the right one for the RMA.

[Q] IMEI and changing CSC

Hi guys I know when you change your CSC on your phone you have to type in your IMEI number, if i typed in the wrong IMEI would it change the IMEI number that is displayed on the phone? Its just im sending it off for warranty and i want to make sure that everything seems perfect as I have rooted it. Everything is back to stock and the flash counter is reset. I just wanted to make sure that the IMEI number hasn't been changed or anything by accident when changing the CSC.
Thanks guys

Only you know your correct IMEI have a look on the phone and under the battery .
jje
i know what my IMEI number is, but there are / within the number on the sticker on the back of my phone, where as on the device itself its just 15 continuous numbers, is that normal ?
Also is the IMEI linked with the the CSC, e.g if I changed the CSC to a different one would they know ?

almost certainly not - changing the IMEI is far, far more complex than that
I believe you can also check if the phone is in a rather "legit state" if Kies will let you upgrade firmware (and of course if it recognizes your SIM).

My S3 can't be registered on network?

Hello!
My phone doesn't has a Serial Number which is lost but i have IMEI so to prepair that i flashed the original frimware from Samsung from Kies by doing "Frimware upgrade and instalization" so Kies demanded the serial number and i put it that's how i resolved this issue and now i have the serial number and IMEI but the problem is that when making calls the phone says "Not Registered On Network" this problem occured to me when i wasn't having the SN but now how it could happen and i have the SN ? i tried to go to settings and selecting the network that should i connect to but nothing changed. I think that Cert File or the EFS partition touched? Please help me i'm really in a big problem :crying:
really?
there's no one can help us with this damn "Not Registered On Network" "No SIM" and this changed serial numbers?!
there are many sgs3 with these problem,
somebody help plz
we tried every modems, roms, stock roms, with odin and different recoveries,
best question is, how we can correct this changed serial number?
and yes, there is no samsung service in my area
Most likely the device is blacklisted. You don't just "lose" a serial number like a coin falls through a hole in a pocket..
Beamed in by telepathy.
The IMEI is the serial number.
Also, network registration errors can be one or more of being the SIM card, blacklisted IMEI and/or SIM card slot being bad itself.
Good luck!

Have u tried restoring With Samsung Smart Switch
No i have not tried
Try restore it with Samsung switch, if not you'll have to find a way to change the imie no. Back to its original otherwise your network won't register the phone to you.
I got the same problem... I guess the IMEI has been altered or the update failed... i tried to downgrade to 5.1.1 but impossible. :/

Twrp could autobackup efs everhtime its so small guess they dont care about their people. Yeah i know my own fault but would be obe line of code for them.

Please check if imei and serial number are both shown when you tap *#06#, if you have both seems your phone got blacklisted on imei from software, only writing a valid certificate will solve your problem

I'm having this problem too. I see the imei and the serial number. Does this mean the phone is blacklisted?

I'm also having trouble. I bought my phone out of an independent shop, on purchase they told me it's not possible to update, and basically got the phone at a bargain. But, I have been doing digging. My guess is they have bought a blacklisted phone and flashed a cert to fix it. So my question is.. what is a cert? Does it contain the imei info, and is it tied to the software version the cert file? And will it ever be possible to flash a MM rom. I have tried and it won't go past the Samsung logo, only 5.1.1 Roms work :/
