[Solved] G5 stucked at encryption in progress - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I used the LG bootloader unlock tool, and managed to install TWRP and supersu. Just followed this tuto.
All was fine, but Titanium Backup was telling me that it can't access root permissions. So I did a factory reset by TWRP. And now...
Every time I boot my phone, a warning pop on the screen :
Code:
Warning : Current version is not avaiable for user. Can't find matched cust for NT-code mcc/mnc[FFFFFF],subset[11]
Then there a title "Encryption in progress" and a button "Reinit phone", which bring me back in TWRP.
I tried to reflash the unlock.bin, TWRP, and no-verity-opt-encrypt, but nothing seems to work in order to get my phone back.
I still can access to bootloader, adb and twrp, but system won't go further than this encryption screen.
Any help is welcome.

i got the same problem :/

If you've made a stock boot partition backup in TWRP, restore that and try booting.
If you didn't, wait for someone to post one that you can restore I suppose.
It makes me wonder if it's possible to even boot the G5 without encrypted userdata. Yikes.
Just to be clear, you used [Format Data] button - NOT factory reset swipe, right? (if your userdata partition is encrypted, I'm not sure that factory reset swipe would be able to do anything)

I used TWRP Wipe option, before using no-verity-opt-encrypt. I mean the basic one, which only wipe data and cache.
Can someone send us a boot partition to flash ?

Someone find the solution here.
Many thanks to him, problem solved.

[Q] Cant seem to factory/data reset -remove encryption

I am a noob looking to try out the touchwiz rom,
My 10.1 is encrypted and trying to remove the encryption using the menu option in settings- factory data reset - it just reboots like nothing happened and asks for the password (I wanted to turn off/get rid of the encryption). I get a box open and android icon for a brief moment at reboot.
Using ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.4 the wipe/factory reset option selected and it errors on the mounting /data. Can't mount or format /data too.
This 10.1 retail has a locked bootloader and is rooted.
Anybody? So far not bricked, ,
got it
I used odin and followed instructions here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119492
I lost clockworkmod and it did not recognize my password on reboot, but it did let me wipe everything.
You might have to wipe user data to get rid of the encryption. But you will loose all ur data
<bump>
I'm having the same trouble - and no amount of flashing various stock or CWM recovery gets me to a point where I can actually format / remove the encrypted partition.
The device had been rooted - and then encrypted - and it wasn't until I attempted to reboot into recovery with CWM (hoping to perform a factory reset) that I got into a boot loop.
Days, and countless flashing later - I'm no closer. The one thing I find interesting: when I flash particular (CWM) recovery / images, and reboot - I actually get the 'pre-boot authentication' page, which still accepts my encryption passphrase. It's after this point - that I'm just staring at a black screen.
Perhaps nvflash might be the right tool for the job - so off to learn about THAT. Every day, a new adventure - and another twist down the rabbit hole.
Thanks in advance to anyone with some insight / links / tips to share.

I'm facing what I think is a similar problem on an AT&T Galaxy s3 i747 with Paranoid Android. I had to encrypt for work email, and ever since then it regularly reboots whenever I try to do something (~25 second effort)... when I do the factory reset, or try reflashing a ROM, it seems to reboot before the action completes... Can you advise how I might solve this?
I've already tried CWM to redo everything... Factory reset does not complete as it always asks for the encryption password once started again... I just want to get back to unencrypted please. Any ideas? Maybe ODIN CWM then try a new install? formatting my SD card? Thanks in advance...
Hi, I had the same problem as above.
I was unable to factory reset with CWM recovery as it couldn't flash the data partition or sd card and couldn't mount them.
However, using the stock recovery, the factory reset and formatting worked fine returning back to an unencrypted device.

Can't get past boot screen

Suddenly and with no recent changes to my watch (unless an OTA was pushed without my knowledge), my watch screen was blank, but still on.
I pressed and held the power button on the back until it restarted.
It starts to boot up, but never finished (left on charger all day).
I've tried several times now and all I get is either a stuck LG logo or a stuck screen with the flying balls of color.
I wouldn't call it a "bootloop" because the booting process does not start over (loop)... It's more like a "bootstuck".
I am able to boot into recovery, clear cache and factory reset. Once I restart though, it immediately gets "bootstuck" again.
I have even let the battery completely drain, placed it on the charger and tried again.
...nothing...?!?!
Any suggestions?

Something gone wrong in userdata likely, or since you already factory reset, more likely in /system partition.
The last few forced OTA threads in Q&A have a mirror link for a TWRP backup of LCA43. Use fastboot boot (not flash, so you don't keep it permanently) a 2.x.x.x version of TWRP. From there, backup your broken setup, factory reset again, use adb to push my LCA43 backup files to TWRP backups (not to overwrite yours), and then restore.
That should patch you up.

Well, I think I may have messed thing up worse now...
I unlocked the bootloader and got TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed. Then I was unable to backup, so I tried wiping the data to see if something was hanging it up...
Now I seem to be stuck in TWRP recovery and each time I reboot it displays a message telling me "No OS installed..."
Also, "adb devices" returns no results, but I do see the devise in fastboot, if I am in the bootloader screen
I suspect what I need to do now is obtain an update.zip file from somewhere and flash it in twrp, but I cannot figure out how to access the file directory on the watch.
Otherwise, I guess I could reinstall factory recovery, but I can't figure out how to do that either.
Unfortunately, the LG G Watch Tool doesn't seem to be working for me either. It just says "waiting for device"
Ultimately, all I want to do is get the latest stock OS installed and go from there
Any advice?

Wait, installed TWRP? If it keeps taking you back into TWRP, then "fastboot flash boot" was used, not "fastboot boot". Read my previous post for difference.
What were the backup errors? Did something not mount? If so, then this (coupled with the original issue), may be hardware related and out of your control.
See if you can get back to the bootloader first. The boot.img can be restored this way, and get you one step closer to booting.

Helllo yes it seems your partitions are all messed up. Considering that on android wear your "data" on it is almost all on your phone aswell it seems like a waste to try and recover it.
here is a link to the system, recovery and boot images from LCA43 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347803309 just flash those to each partition correctly ie. fastboot flash boot boot.img etc
and wipe your /cache and /data partition. You will essentially have a completely stock device and if it still thosen't function correctly then it is a hardware fault
Here is a video on how to access bootloader from boot screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftSCH7qihRI

Go back and change partition to read and write in twrp (I think), sounds like you set it to read only if you are getting stuck at that screen. If all else fails I'd try running the RUU then re flashing twrp , but are you s off? I've been s off since sunshine came out (which I highly recommend) and don't know how things work being s-on. Also which version of twrp are you using?
Go read up about how twrp works , that way when you are prompted with things that could prevent you from obtaining root you will know what to do. #4 in the link below might be able to help you... but once again read all the information provided.

you need to update your TWRP to 3.0.0. Flash it through CMD or sdcard way, reboot to recovery, "Mount as Read Only" message swipe to right. You want it to be that way for an untouch system backup(if you wanted to do). Reflash MM ROM.
got it
The problem was twrp was asking to flash the supersu from itself even after i had flashed the su manually from twrp. i just installed badboyz and then flashed the su and did not accept the twrp option to flash supersu again and it is working again. To add more, i think i even got it dsu with the recent guide posted here which saved me few bucks. I love xda!

Pocophone F1 no os after sideloading going wrong

Hey all, so it appears that I screwed my phone, I am not sure how.
I was running LineageOS, and wanted to update to Android 10 one, so I followed the steps, and I think I screwed the sideloading part, so... long story short now when rebooting from OrangeFox RecoveryProject it says no OS detected, and when it boots it says encryption unsuccessful, I tried wiping and installing DisableForceEncryption_Treble_v17.2 and restarting, and the same thing happens.
I tried to flash through recovery both, and did not work:
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/beryllium/
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/vendor/beryllium/
And when trying to flash through miFlash it doesn't work:
I go to fastboot in poco, hit refresh in miflash, it shows a device in the list, but the phone goes dark with 'something key to shutdown` written in the top left corner and if I hit the flash button nothing happens.
Can anyone assist with that please?

This happened to me when I accidentally deleted the OS when flashing the latest MIUI 11 build (using TWRP). THIS IS HOW I FIXED IT.
Find a full firmware of whatever you wanted to flash, either Lineage or MIUI 11. Then flash via your recovery (you said you have orangefox). Use an external sd card, external USB or HDD since you technically wouldn't have access to your internal data. After flashing, same process as most updates, clear cache and dalkiv. Then flash a newer DFE (if you still want to decrypt, there is a page here in xda with it. Or go to miui forums Happybuddhist, the mod there, made a new one prebuilt with Magisk). Then reboot into recovery to make sure you keep your custom recovery. Once booted to recov. Boot to system. Should fix the issue.
You could check my guide here on how to unbrick your pocophone:

I tried that, now I am a step forward I think, I flashed the stock firmware I found, and installed the latest stock ROM, rebooted (doesn't say no os anymore), but the only thing I see is a DELETE ALL DATA button and at the bottom 'Encryption was interrupted and can't be completed. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible.
To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google account.'

So I had an OS-less phone that don't get recognised in MiFlash, and I had orangeFox recovery.
The steps to fix were:
- Flash a full stock Firmware
- Flash the stock ROM
- Flash DFE
- Format data to ext4
- Reboot and it works
So thanks all for your help

Serious issue with the TWRP/Nandroid backup - twrp backup failed to mount system root structure needs cleaning - keeps looping back into TWRP

So, I can't restore my backup due to the error above. When I restore my backup, I get that error and a reboot loops me straight back into TWRP. You can read all that stuff below if you need the backstory.
(I had Lineage OS 18.1 installed and wanted to restore a backup from two weeks ago. So, I booted into TWRP, did a normal factory reset and restored the Backup of Lineage. However, it put out an error regarding something in root (structure needs cleaning). I tried rebooting into system, but it ended in fastboot mode. So I googled it and one thread said you can solve that by formatting system. "System" is backed up anyway, so I thought there was no harm, wiped it and restored the same backup once again. No error this time.
However, when I rebooted into system, the unlock pattern didn't work any more, even though I never changed it and always use the same one. I had to reboot into recovery, and now the TWRP unlock pattern didn't work either. Had to skip it and did another reset.
Now, every time I restore a backup (and those backups contain basically every partition available) it works, but when I reboot into system it just stops at the boot logo, then reboots into recovery. Basically a boot loop plus. Tried a fresh flash, same loop.
Also, all of my pictures and downloaded files are gone, because it's encrypted. I had to wipe data, which led to the whole encryption issue going away, however, I'm still stuck in that loop.
Does anyone know how to solve this cluster****? How do I get it to boot into system?
Edit: Managed to flash LIneage new after wiping data and system and it actually boots, hallelujah, but when I flash the back up I'm still at square one with the same fail and it fails to boot. )
