Is there a way to disable actual physical keyboards. - Remix OS for PC

Hi, I've been using REMIX OS for around 2 months now. My problem with the system right now is the keyboard and touchpad. Reason why I'm asking if I can truly disable the keyboard and touchpad is because i'm using a tablet-laptop Asus TP300LA and I would like to use Remix OS while i've flipped my Laptop into tablet mode. So is there any way I can disable the said input devices?

Try this, root remix os and find in system/lib/module/kernel folder or file name keyboard or touchpad. Rename the file or folder with ".backup" after name of that file, reboot remix os
Hope that help
I try with my tablet laptop and it work good.

Yes that's right. You can still use the method if you first make system read/write using the the method elsewhere in this forum.

Yes, been using linux on the desktop for more than 10 years now. Mostly developing, mostly mathematical related. I've used different distro's, but the last 3 years I've settled on ubuntu as it is quick to set up and all software I need is supported for it.

There exists something like VMWare, that allows to run one os inside an other. This works both ways. What also is possible is to use wine in linux, with it you can run windows programs from your linux desktop. This works very well, I use it to manage my tracks in MapSource (a program for garmin sport gps).

It could be, there are alot of different ways to run windows/linux together, you will find what best works you. It is for instance also possible to install the two next to each other, then at boot you choose the os you want to boot into..
There exists a couple of different ubuntu forums. Normally you should get a lot of help. When I got into linux, there existed a linux user group (LUG) at my university. You might see if a LUG exists near you.
I use VMware workstation. It's good Its worth the money Im able to run Ubuntu on Windows using this.

Using linux for gaming, it's like using a F/A-18 Hornet, for transporting pets
and about the windows thing, you can even install WINDOWS on windows, if u know what i mean
haha totally agreed D4rKn3sSyS
i use and ubuntu and win7 they are different on many points but imo
on topic
if you want gaming and you like windows interface just stay on it
still if you want to try it ubuntu play alot of windows games (not fully) like no shaddows and directX things..
linux is nice but you need "terminal work" not like windows with ok buttons...
up to you always !

While technical there is no issue to run it on the mini. I think it is more useful to run this on a tablet. For example the eee pad transformer with dock. This 'transforms' your transformer into a netbook..
There is a method that involves setting up a vnc server. This works well, but does not run at the fastest possible speed (though, it is doable). XDA members are working on a native implementation. This would make tegra2 tablets dual boot. Seems like best of both worlds.
Playing and browsing in the sofa: android. Continuing your project on the go or in the library: linux desktop (for example ubuntu).

Copy/Paste text on NT?

Hey all,
For some reason I can't seem to figure out how to copy/paste text on the NT. Long pressing does nothing and I don't think such an app exists.
Anyone have any tips or solutions?
Thanks!

the only thing i can suggest is using opera mobile as a browser. its working in there at least.
There is no native copy/paste feature in the tablet. You'll have to download an alternative browser or somesuch to do that. Its quite annoying tbh
Not the answer you wanted.

Hi, I can only cut and paste in to apps that have code for cut and paste on the NT. On the NC, with cm7 it is not an issue. I have been using Everywhere Clipboard lite, aNdclip Free and Copy Paste It trial.
ALL only work with apps that have code for cut and paste written into them.
Not sure what apk is blocking this or where to look for a solution.
Unable to paste, even thou it is in the clipboard. used opera mobile to copy url.

Thanks for answering. I understand what you say, since I run cm7 on my NC.
It is just frustrating on the NT. But I have been able to work around cut and paste issues.
I've found a way to enable copy and paste - instructions and video at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534757. Requires root.

Ubuntu Installer SGP 5.0

and using this App. for the installation guide

Don't have time to try it out yet, but I do have a question about the driver support.
Since it is a full blown linux distro, does it come with usb audio driver, otg support and etc?

You do not install anything other than the one app. You run a few commands to start it. Then you open the app. to connect to the Ubuntu "server." it is actually running in the background like an app. would, but you can exit at any time. Read more on the link that I posted along in this thread.

[Q] Ubuntu - Touchscreen doesn't work

Hey,
I installed Ubuntu on my Archos 101 G9. First Ubuntu was not willing to boot but I changed the zimage like it's recommend here and afterwards it works.
But if Ubuntu booted the touchscreen still doesn't work. Not as touchscreen, not as touchpad. It doesn't react on any touches. The only reaction I get is if I press the PowerButton (the shutdown-menu appears) or the volume buttons (the animation of making the sound louder oder quieter appars).
I read nearly the complete 25 pages but didn't get any idea why it doesn't work in my case.
Thanks for your help!
Best regards,
Erik
It seems that the ubuntu build you downloaded does not have touchscreen driver for you. Which ubuntu did you download?

I did it once with the V0.2-Image from this post but tried it also with the image from this post. Both didn't work
Hi, in fact there is not touchscreen on ubuntu: it is rather a touchpad: you have to move the mouse and to click .
This is why i am not using ubuntu (have to use mouse with touchpad even to type on keyboard)

False. Newer builds have touchscreen working for most screens.

It means no one of the developers have that touchscreen. You must fix it yourself. I can't guide it because I do not have the skill.

Minuum on G watch

I just got my link to Minuum for android wear. The only problem is that I'm at work and of course I don't have my cradle with me, so I'll have to wait till tonight. I tried using adb thru bluetooth but I'm not sure exactly how it works, so I guess it'll have to wait till tonight. So excited...
I got it about a week ago loaded on g watch but would not bring up a keyboard just instructions.

I got my invite, but I haven't installed it yet. Later tonight, I guess.
As far as I know, it's completely useless at the moment as Android Wear doesn't allow for keyboard input.

for now yes, but in the future. answer a sms from your watch without having to chose from a preset. or send that tiny whatsapp message from your watch. theres possibilities with it.
I tried it, got the app to run, but never managed to get the keyboard to pop up.
The only issue is that few/no apps support keyboard entry. I was hoping to test SWApp - that insists on keyboard entry at configuration (but no joy with that either).
Edit: fixed
It was a conflict with Wear Mini Launcher - some GPU resource issue maybe. On your phone, open wear mini launcher, set 'enable drawer' to off. Obviously this means you can't have the launcher active, but at least it is possible to test, without having to un-install.
