Question on MTC-Music 2.0 by MVG-V70 - MTCB Software Development

I have my album art embeded in my MP3 tags of my music files. The default music player on @Malaysk's ROM reads the cover art fine but the toast display on MVG-V70's mtc-music 2.0 doesn't seem to read it. I have tried changing album_cover=cover.jpg in the mtc-music.ini file but still nothing.
Could someone who has an account on 4pda.ru (and preferably speaks Russian) ask MVG-V70 how to make imbedded album art appear on the toast?
I have not been able to set up an account on 4pda.ru.
Thanks,
Steve

I don't think it works like that, that was the main purpose of the module to allow external album art to be used. Why not just put a cover.jpg in the relevant folders.

I have like 400+ MP3's on my SD card with them all embedded. Every player that I use can read them. I was just hoping that this would too.

Also enabled radio module ?
It also serves to show cover.

I think there are apps out there that will extract the embedded art and create a JPG. Assuming you have the music properly organized in \Artist\Album\*.mp3 format you shouldn't need to do much else.

I realize that I can extract the album art. I just wanted someone to ask the developer if maybe this functionality was already there or could easily be added. If not, it is no big deal and I can use a workaround.

Possible solution.
Check if mtc-music.ini
PHP:
# Transparency projection album cover in the screensaver (in fractions of 1). It lies on top of the background (transparent or black). To remove it completely, put = 0.
cover_alpha=0.25
Before restoring mtc-music.ini the Rom April 23

New Here, Nooby Questions I Suppose

Yay my first post, lol.
So anyway, I've decided to move over from the iOS platform because the hardware simply does not stay up to date with Android anymore. I'm quite tired of worrying about jailbreaking; that aside I want to know how I would go about doing the simple things that I got out of iOS, even though I had to be a hacker to get my way.
Restoration (If I screw something up)
How do I restore my phone with a complete firmware file that will recover me from my own stupidity/adventures? With iOS I simply just entered recovery mode and pressed restore in iTunes. How does one download a stock i9100 restore firmware file for future use?
Themes
In iOS, I made my own themes and applied them into the rooted filesystem with no problems. I simply just replaced the files and rebooted, no problems. I've been lurking for a while now seeïng that people need to deoxdex files in order to view them or flash them or whatever. My question is this: can I simply replace system files and expect them to work? As for the many xml files in the apk's that I've been examining, I cannot seem to get a standard format of them. When I view them in various code applications, I get a load of garbage with a faint outline of what could included in the xml file. How can I convert pulled xml files to "normal" readable ones? (or do I need to use a special application that reads binary/encrypted xml's for me?) What is the proper way to replace system files for a theme (what is deodexing?), and is it possible to package my theme and put it on the android market to share with others?
Music
Do any of you guys use iTunes for your music? My iTunes library is meticulously managed to make sure that all my song info and album art are correct. Is it true that if I drag and drop from iTunes (on a mac) into the music folder of my sd card, I will copy over all the song data aswell? I highly doubt it because I cannot get this to work between my two iTunes libraries on different computers. Is there a way to make sure all my id3 tags and album art are added to all my songs so that I have an organized library in my SGS2/android?
Tapping the status bar to reach the top of a long page/form
Does this exist in android either through a tweak or android market app?
Deleting System apps that I no longer need
Is it okay to just delete apk's on my phone's system that I do not need? (Reader's hub, blockbuster, exe) I would assume that would work, but eh, I'm not making any assumptions on a completely different platform.
Launch Dæmons
On iOS, there was a folder in the system that housed all the plists of startup dæmons at booup. By deleting one, the service would completely stop and would free up RAM after the phone got rebooted. Does android have a similar place to house a bunch of services that are optionally deleted/stopped entirely to improve system performance? Things that come immediately to mind are things like debugging, syslogs, android developer tools, and other garbage that is unnecessary to certain users. (A famous example is the "CommCenter.plist"(baseband startup)/"DataMigrator.plist" (move contacts using SIM card) that always run in the background on iTouches despite not having a baseband and SIM card.)
System Button Mapping
Is there any tweak or android app that lets me set certain actions to different button presses or behaviors? For example in iOS I can use "activator" to let me swipe my statusbar horizontally to enter the camera app. I can also long press volume keys to skip/restart music being played in the music app.
-----
I know that's a lot of questions, but atleast try to help a newbie out =] When fist started out in iOS 4 years ago, I was the same way in nagging looking for ways to make things fit my workflow. Honestly, it doesn't take long before I start to help people out and grasp all the skills needed for a particular platform.
Hello, and welcome to XDA
I'll try to answer all questions.
First of all. The galaxy s ii is almost impossible to break. If you need to re wipe your phone. Get the firmware from samfirmware.com and also get odin v1.85 from there. That is all you need to fix a broken phone. It will just need putting into download mode. (Power + home + vol down)
As for theming. All apk files contain files with the images that it uses, so in theory all can be customised. The main files to theme are SystemUI (notifications bar) found in /system/app. And framework-res (anything else theme related, battery text colours e.t.c
As for editing the xml files. Most have to be edited in a hex editor (e.g. HXD). But there are guides to show you what numbers to edit. And its not that complicated once you try it.
With regard to the music. I recommend mp3tag. Its what I use and simply copying the tracks works well for me.
For removing system apps, look on the market for system app remover, or if you are willing to pay, get root tools. Great combination of tools and uninstalling is as easy as ticking a box.
And yes, there are some apps that when you remove them your phone will bootloop. Look in this forum. I'm sure I've seen a safe system apps to remove in the sgs ii section (will look for link in a mo)
Last bit, system button mapping. I believe it can be done. But it hasn't been done yet on this phone. Different launchers give you the option for swipe gesgures (did I spell that right, doesnt look it). So you can have swiping down on the screen opens notifications and swiping up opens app drawer. If you want that. I recommned searching for ADW launcher on the marketplace (others offer the same feature, but adw is the best)
Think I'm finished now?

that definitely helped me a lot, thanks =D One thing that was not answered was the launch dæmons bit, does a folder like that even exist in Android? As for themes though, I'm going for a complete and total all out theme of all applications. I cannot stand the blackness of this phone's UI; I'm gonna put little pieces of artwork everywhere I can fit it like I did on iOS so it looks like just a collection of art and colorful things (backgrounds, splash screens, loading screens, exe). I'd love to know though if it's possible to download the firmware from where you described and premod it then just flash my custom ROM all at once...
As for system button mapping and custom button events, that's one thing I'm definitely going to miss ='[ I had a bunch of gestures set up so that while I'm bikeriding/horseriding I can just hit a button to control music without looking at the screen. In all respects, thanks a bunch for the help.

Soon enough we will enable an init.d folder.
It's there on other ROMs, we just have to enable it in the ramdisk

That's really cool, is there a github/thread where I can track the progress of this? In all honesty making my own custom gestures like longholding a volume button or the options button would be helpful (both volume buttons at once pause/play =D)

I use iTunes & smart playlists. iSyncr (free) & will let you sync based on playlists, genres, and chose where each playlist gets stored (default, internal or external SD). iSyncrWifi (cheap) then adds scheduled & wifi syncing. Then pick your music player of choice. Look to see if it updates play counts (if that is important to you) I think the pay for version of Rocket (also by JRT Studios) updates play counts.

Hide images to the gallery of the phone

Hi, Hi, I have a wildfire with Cyanogen 197 nightly.
I want to know if and how to hide certain files or folders to the gallery. In my old N70 I had put all the images and icons of the tomtom and had worked as a hidden, but now the wildfire not.

It should work if you stick a file called .nomedia in the directory you wish to not load. It may need to clear out the cache for the gallery and such first to take effect.
or you can just rename the file/folder you want to hide as: .(file name)
the period in the front hides the file/folder

Yeah, that should work too, but I've had apps that will freak out when you put a . in front of some folder they need on the sdcard (like beautiful widgets).
Another option is to use a Gallery replacement like QuickPic, that allows you to choose which folders are displayed within the app.

Thanks, I have adopted your method. However, Windows does not allow for files (even folders and I) so (ie, with and without dot in name), luck that I found and then copied into the SD.

Album art not showing in google music

Some of my album art does not show in Google music. I looked in the folders and the jpg are there but they don't show. They do show up when I use other players such as winamp etc. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix?
In the past I've had art not show up for a little bit immediately after uploading them to Google Music, but it generally did start displaying eventually. In the cases where it didn't, I manually edited the album info on the Google Music desktop site (Select album > click the little icon at the bottom right where the art should be > Edit album info > "Change" to the right under where the art should be)
Thanks for the reply was hoping to be able to do it on the phone, but no such luck I guess...
Sorry to revive this old topic, but I'm still having this issue I can see my album artwork in the browser player, but only some of them are correctly shown in the phone app. I'm using this ROM. Has anyone found a solution for this?
Thanks!

HUGE FLAW in the Android Gallery APP!!!!

When I open my gallery, I see thousands of folders and one thumbnail image in each of those folders!! Those thumbnail images are the auto generated album art from various mp3 files that I copied to the sdCard.
Its almost impossible to find my folders and important pictures in all this mess.
I have been searching on the market, forums and everywhere for days now, and I did not find any way to stop the gallery from showing these auto generated thumbnails in the gallery.
This is a huge flaw in the android gallery app, there should be some option to include or exclude certain desired folders.
When I searched, I found the album art thumbnails which the gallery app was showing were in this folder - /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails/
This folder also has thumbnails for my important pictures and camera taken pictures. I don't want to remove those.
What I don't understand is, even if I clear thumbnail cache, it will again generate thumbnails for those mp3 files and show them when I open gallery again!!!!
Its like a loop and there is no way to fix this.
I searched almost everywhere to find a proper solution to this problem, but could not. If anyone has any proper fix for this problem, please help me out
P.S : dont tell me the .nomedia fix etc , i have tried all and it just makes the mp3 files disappear from the media player.

Please go through my entire post :|
And read description of app on market:
Here's how:
Gallery Excluder lists all direct subdirectories of '/sdcard' respectively '/mnt/sdcard' and displays them in a list. If an item/directory gets checked a '.nomedia' file is placed in that directory. If the directory gets unchecked the '.nomedia' file is removed.

Use Quickpic - it's an awesome gallery replacement app - and exclude the main thumbnails directory. This does not create a nomedia file, it excludes the folder from being scanned by Quickpic and therefore the files don't show up. It will not fix the problem with the stock gallery, but I think you'll be happy with Quickpic's speed and functionality. It's a million times better than the stock gallery.
Be sure to "exclude" and not "hide". Hiding will place a nomedia file.
I know it's not the solution you were hoping for, but it does solve your problem.

Thanks for helping me out
I have already tried using quickpic. This is the folder where the thumbnails are located, which I want to be excluded -
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And this is what I see in the quickpic exclude folder options -
Maybe I am being really stupid and missing on something obvious, but otherwise...... Where is the .thumbnails folder ?? Its a hidden folder, which is not visible in the quickpic app.. so How do i select it to exclude ????
Lastly, the UI of the stock gallery app is really awesome looking, with images floating and blurred backgroud ( i.e cooliris ) . quickpic is really simple and boring looks.
So I am back onto my original question - Does any1 have any fix to this major flaw in the stock gallery app ??
Default Gallery is crap. It's no good having something that 'looks nice' but doesn't perform it's function.
1) Create a Folder on your SD called 'Pictures'.
2) Move all your images to 'Pictures'. (Create sub-folders if necessary)
3) Install Quickpic.
4) Select option to only include Pictures folder.
5) ??
6) Profit!

When I open my gallery, all these folder show up nicely and its much more easier to recollect what pic is from when and where.
I liked everything about my gallery, UNTIL now! when it started showing all the thumbnails. My album art is embedded inside the mp3 tags. I just don't want it to extract them from there and display in gallery.
C'mon there must be some way to get rid of this little but annoying problem!!

The Gallery shouldn't see mp3 files, and the ".thumbnails" folder is hidden, the period in front of the folder name causes it to not be shown in apps. So whatever you're seeing in the Gallery app is not coming from that folder, and they aren't mp3 files.
Do you see the images in Quickpic? If so, long-press on one of the folders with the images you don't want to see. Choose exclude from the menu. In the dialog there is a dropdown, you can choose to exclude a parent directory instead of the folder you long-pressed. It's made for stuff like album art. Choose whichever folder holds the subfolders you don't want to see.
This will also tell you where the images are coming from so you can possibly do something else about it.

The long-pressing method worked. I was able to select the parent directory and remove all the unnecessary images and have a organised view.
And yes its not extracting those images from the .thumbnails folder but the path which was showing on long-pressing, it was the path to the actual mp3 file itself.
example-
there is a Folder called eminem with its album art in the gallery, the path to that pic is -
sdcard/music/eminem/recovery/not_afraid.mp3

So the gallery is thinking the mp3 file as a image file, because the image is embedded in the mp3 tags.
Though its not the solution I am looking for, but still because of you I have found a workaround, until someone figures out how to fix this default gallery flaw.

You can select exactly which folders you want to be included in your gallery with QuickPic...
I am so glad I am not the only one with this issue. In my case the stock photo gallery was picking up my folder.jpg image that is saved in each of my artist music folders. As you can imagine I ended with over a thousand images being displayed in my gallery. I will try the Quickpic option.
Found this fix, might be your issue
Not sure if you stated what phone you have, but I had the same problem with my Samsung GS3 and here's how I fixed. Apparently the Samsung Gallery app only scans for .nomedia files on first load, so unless you have the .nomedia files where they need to be on first launch you need to clear cache and data for both Gallery and Media storage apps. After I did this mine worked perfect. Might be more than just Sammy phones too so worth a shot either way I would say. I like the stock gallery app too and am glad I can use it again. I used StudioKUMA .nomedia Manager to quickly and easily add the .nomedia files where they needed to be. Hope this helps! :fingers-crossed:

hello taavi,
gallery exclude also excludes your Music from your library, so as it hides Album Art from your gallery, it also hides Music from the music player... so is completely useless to me.
1) Start Quickpic.
2) Select a folder within the mp3 folderstructure - doesn't matter which one.
3) Click Menu -> Exclude
4) The path is clickable. Select it and from the folders you see, select the 'root' of your mp3 files.
5) Click on OK
Done.
When the list of folders looks like this:
/storage/extSdCard/Music/Albums/Elvis Presley/Music Diary 1
/storage/extSdCard/Music/Albums/Elvis Presley
/storage/extSdCard/Music/Albums
/storage/extSdCard/Music
/storage/extSdCard
then select this one:
/storage/extSdCard/Music
This will exclude every folder beneith /storage/extSdCard/Music too, so all your icons will be invisible in Quickpic.
My problem looks like it, but I need the gallery to see the Dropbox pictures. However, they are relocated with DirectoryBind to external SDcard. The gallery sees every folder twice. Unfortunately, the gallery cannot exclude certain folders with accompanying subfolders.
Interesting, I have yet to come across this issue myself. But I am quite curious to re-creating it so I can try to find a solution.
Arjs what is the process you are taking to get you music tagged in the first place?
For example, are you using windows media player or itunes to rip it (I ask because you mentioned a separate folder for each album),
Also, you mentioned the songs have a direct link to the album artwork in the TAG. Usually I am use to seeing a seperate file that links the MP3 to the JPG but I may be using a different app then you
I guess what I am asking is A-Z how do you get your music on your phone and what app are you using to play it, tag it, get artwork etc.
If I can re-create the issue myself I am willing to attempt a fix.

I modified the standard Bluetooth App for MTCB/MTCC devices, because the original app was not my style. Additional the UI should fit to my layout of MTCFlatRadio. Take a look at the sample pictures.
Features:
- Layout of Accept/Reject Button optimized: Big round buttons placed always at the same position
- Tabs placed at the bottom of screen
- Optimized Layout of lists: Column width and font sizes corrected
To install this app, you have to replace the original app. This is only possible on a rooted device or on a device with a modified custom ROM (e.g. Malaysk ROM).
Have fun with testing.
Versions:
v1.00
- tested only on 1024x600 resolution
thx i ll test it tomorrow. Your Flat Radio apk is very nice, this BT/Phone apk looks good , too.

Great work! I really like your simple and straight design, much more ergonomic and easy to spot in driving. Do you plan to do also media and music players?
Also I would suggest to have one thread for all apps instead separate ones. It will be easier to follow the progress.
I'm a newbie and I have a device with a modified custom ROM (Malaysk ROM).
Can you tell me, in details, what I should do to try your modified bluetooth app and keep the old one in backup in case.
Thank's !
Thanks! it looks and work great.
Only issue, and i dont know if this is a hardware limitation of MTC/B units. Is there a way to show the metadata i.e. track name, artist, length etc when connected to bluetooth and streaming music?

Open esfile menager or root explorer and in system/apps/mtcbluetooth4 or 3 i dont remember rename it as different name and copy modified bletooth app same place and install it
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Awesome work!
Very nice, Thank you for your mod!
I've replaced the modded BT made by @sabruri1/ @robertut with yours and I must admit that yous is more polished
I'm also using your Radio apk - same appreciative comments goes here
Any chance of a Music (maybe based on @sabruri1 / @ANACLETOESTR modded Music4.8 ) player in the same style?

This could be because the bt stack hasnt been coded for music metadata or volume push to/from device.
Im looking into stack, app and other options. I could make a custom bt module that has a more complete stack.... Not sure how different android bt dev is to my msp430 cc2640r2 dev
I want it to read messages and notifications

Could you please make this awesome app for screens of lower resolution? I would be grateful..! (buttons on my screen appear too big and are overlapping each other...) Thank you in advance!
MTCD Version ? Modified MTC Bluetooth App
Hey, would you be able to create an MTCD version of your modified Bluetooth app ?
Just came across this replacement Bluetooth App. I've downloaded and installed on my KLD head unit running the Malaysk ROM (5.1.1). It seems to be working without issue so far.
The UI is significantly improved over the Malaysk stock BT app and is much easier to use in a moving vehicle.
Well done. Donation has been made.
Have just installed this and despite having a 1028px screen all the buttons on the screen are overlapping and not displaying correctly?

What is your OBD Reader? It works fine on that BT apk ?
I'm having hard trouble to pair my OBDLink LX to original BT apk, do you think installing that app will do anything new or this is just a visual thing...
Thanks
