Today I setup my LG G5 (European, unlocked), unfortunately I could not install two of the official Google apps: phone (dialer) and contacts.
The google play store lists those two apps as incompatible. I have tried to install the APKs (http://apkleecher.net/download/com.google.android.dialer/.apk.html) directly with unknown sources enabled, but it did not work.
Did anyone find a solution?
There is a version of the phone app I found here that did work. Someone on xda had to modify it to work however it did work fine.
Those two work flawless without any further modification for me:

I have no problem with the latest google-contacts (2.0.10)
but
I cannot install the Google Phone App 10.1.xx & 9.0.155139499 (This app isn't incompatible...)

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can simply flash the aroma GApps via TWRP. No need to mess around with APKs.
I did that and afterwards deinstalled all LG apps. With the Pixel theme, my phone almost looks like a Pixel now.
Perfect! This works!
Thanks @ramqashou
Btw, with last update, Google Contacts is now compatible with all devices via Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...oid.contacts&rdid=com.google.android.contacts

Both apps are Google phones only (Pixel/Nexus). The contacts app this week was opened up to all devices, the Google dialer is still Google only. There are many tweaked versions of the dialer app that you can download (see other replies) but they may not be fully functional. Usually, things like the search nearby or spam filter do not work, this is due to additional google libraries are needed. If you have root you can flash these.

The version number is 4.5.2-714156

Discovered this update trending Reddit's front page, and Google led me to your post here..
Thanks for the DL!! I felt better installing an app from a fellow XDA user than the re-named (maybe re-rolled) one available elsewhere.

the same problem, it launches and less than a second later exits :/
My phone is rooted, could that be the problem? I have the same problem with Google Play and Google Calendar.
Any idea?
Edit:
I bought my device in China, the only way to get most of Google apps to work properly was to put a new ROM on.
Chinese block Google products within the ROM.

It's not any error but I'm getting this while installing prebuiltgmscore file. It says like, "This is a system app, are you sure to install and replace it with previous one." and so on. So, I aborted. I was not sure to proceed. It says it will replace all the data, etc. What actually will it do if I press ok and continue with it? My phone is not rooted yet, and not planning for few months. I'm already using the Kitkat Launcher Theme which give the kitkat Icons and I'm using it with Nova Prime.
I also installed Kitkat Launcher from Nick app from playstore but the App Drawer was very clumsy and did not feel clean, so uninstalled it.
Back to the point, what happens if I install prebuiltgmscore replacing previous and will it require Root?
Thanks XDA Brothers.:good:
It is the .apk file for the updated playstore...since you already have playstore installed, it asks if you want to replace it...there is no prob if you click ok...you just have an updated playstore on your device...
Installed Googlehome apk directly ! ! !

It works. I skipped both PrebuiltGmsCore.apk and Velvet.apk and installed google home directly. Everything seems to work good except the widgets and the voice command is not working from the homescreen. I have to tap the top right search button. Any idea about it?
Check the attachment for widget error.
The Voice Command 'Ok Google' is supposed to work only on the Nexus 5...and the widgets caused problems initially, but now they work properly...once you drag a widget to the home screen, and click on it they show some msg...ht ok..and it will work...

prebuiltgmscore.apk is actually the new google play service app. If you had updated to the newest version of google play, you can try and error to NOT install the prebuiltgmscore.apk. Report back here if you successful install. If not sucess, just install the new version of google play(prebuiltgmscore.apk).
and Nope, doesn't require ROOT access.

You can skip both the apk because of google just rolled up their new update for those app, Google Now n Google Play Service for everyone.
To have the voice command works, just change the languages to English (US), head to MENU >Settings > Voice > Language > English (US).
Try to say, "OK google". If doesn't work, head to MENU >Settings > Voice > Language > Offline speech recognition > and choose English (US) update.
As simple as that Sorry for the late reply though.

heh, It's on the list sent one back. Gotta look and see what the 500 is using for the screen. If it's synaptics, this might be difficult. Also working on remote and overclock, but those may take a while. Glad to see you got your system up and running!
just downloaded and installed the odexed version. Everything works as it should and I'm very pleased with what I'm finding. Thank you for your excellent work. I have also installed my kernel and the system is now blazing fast!
Did the updater script come from Mako or?
Does this rom has miracast and the option to move apps to sd?

I tried.. and it shows "Successfully flashed!" but my device didn't reboot
so i take it the V510 model is the device dubbed Google Edition right?
and this rom can only be flashed on that device?
the other global variant, V500 models - this rom will Not work?

Help with sync
Problem: Google Calendar "can't find any calendars to sync".
I just bought a used V510 on swappa. Flashed the deodexed version of this ROM. Everything is fine with it except above issue. Also, in settings I am getting a Google Sync error. When I expand the sync, I see app data, chrome, Contacts, Drive, gmail, And people details. All of these show successful sync. But there is no box/choice for calendar.
Suggestion appreciated.
Edit: I tried numerous "fixes" from a Google search. Clearing cache for calender, contacts, enable/disable airplane mode, log out of Google account/reboot/log back in. Uninstall calender and reinstall. None of that worked. Finally I did a dirty flash of PA gapps and that solved the problem. Not clear why that fixed it, though.
Is it possible you could make a complete stock backup ROM of v4.4.2 - KOT49H.L004
4.4.3 is set to be released and it may be neccesary to be completely stock for the update. Also, the update may present problems concerning root for some applications. Thank you for your consideration!
Yes, would be very interested in a stock 4.4.2 to flash back to

Ya sometimes it may happen. Either download the gapps suggested by the developer or check the version of android rom and the download the respective gapp. It will solve the issue. Or just post the reply. I will guide u.

An easy way to get it back is to find a Google Apps package that has the AOSP messaging app and then extract the apk from the .zip file and manually install it or to install SMS Messaging from the Play Store which is the AOSP messaging app.

I have smooth scrolling on settings menu and drawer, try restarting device or wait for to set propper after flashing.. anyway, crDroid is smooth too..
Tips:
If you want more smoother, change launcher from stock (lawnchair in this case) into "rootless launcher" (just download it from playstore and yes its free).. in my opinion, rootless launcher is more smooth than lawnchair or other stock AOSP based rom launcher.. and last, the choice is yours..
Cheers!
As usual, bluetooth is not working..
But dont worry, heres the fix..
just flash this zip at TWRP then restart system..
And now the bluetooth is working.. ??
Update review:
Multitasking is smooth, opening apps is smooth, so far i dont seeing any crashing with my whatsapp mod and vanced youtube (in RR, LOS and crDroid when im using mod WA and vanced youtube it will freezing some times)..
I feel the touch precise is better than other aosp based rom
Better data signal lock than other aosp based rom
(In other rom, my data connection need to disconnect than connecting again about 3 or 4 times before get locked data signal)
but of course this is not my final review, will updated.. give me some time to using this rom and hopefully this will be my dialy driver.. insyaAllah..
More screenshots..
Using rootless launcher and beautifully themed by flux mixed with pitch black subtratum ??
I love this rom.. as always, ur the best dev @cnkzlyr ???
Hey, i just found bug..
Taking screenshot using combination hardware button is failed to save the image file, the result is blank image with plain grey color..
Solution:
Its not a big deal, since i downloaded "screenshot assistant" (from playstore), the way to taking screenshot is better than default..

Try to uninstall it first, then download again from playstore (dont restore backup)..
dont worry about your photos data becoz it all stored on cloud, right?
Talking about choosing custom rom, Its depend what rom you prefer to use.. because all roms has their own pros and cons, so its your choice based on your own preferences.. But for me, after trying all roms ill stay in viper for now at least...
