Official firmware with 0 flash counter would be to cover the phone under warranty but this is an old phone now so it would be out of warranty.

they wont care right even if i have a custom rom

If it's out of warranty I doubt they'd care cos u would have to pay for repairs either way

How to unroot

How to unrooted my device for warranty?
If I restore my stock ROM backup will I be able to unroot it?

your search button not working ???
which leads you to the standard reply >>> Flash stock rom and reset custom rom counter
jje
Do a search in Your phones Dev section for unroot instructions. You should find a .tar file you can push through Odin fairly easily, good luck!

No in order to return to an uprooted state for warranty purposes you would have to do a full wipe/factory reset and flash the original firmware via odin.

Is the usb jigg necessary? for warranty purpose.? I mean since Samsung didn't lock the bootloader...what will happen if I restore stock ROM?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Yes. If you don't reset the flash counter, it shows you've flashed non-stock firmware on to the phone, and you can kiss any chance of having your phone repaired under warranty goodbye.
If they see anything other than Custom Binary Download = No & Current Binary = Samsung Official, you're boned warranty-wise. Unless you're lucky.
Edit to add - For the sake of 3 bucks, why would you take the chance they'll reject a warranty claim ?

Any stock ROM will do, as long as your binary counter is zero, custom binary download shows NO, and current binary shows SAMSUNG OFFICIAL.

What is triangle away?? Wnat it resets flash counter?

What was unclear about this? It removes the custom binary flash counter, the one you see if you've flashed a non Samsung kernel from download mode, and also the corresponding indicator (triangle) when you boot your phone afterwards.

So don't flash anything, stick to stock, and wait for official updates via Kies.
I don't have triangle... I removed it using some other method... I have 2 counter.. but I just want to know why the need of reseting

Resetting the flash counter isn't 'necessary'. But if you ever want to send your phone in for warranty service, not resetting the flash counter before you send it in for service might well mean you end up paying for your phone to be repaired/replaced rather than having same done on Samsung's dime.
Clear ?

Samsung warranty .
Void if custom rom or rooted phone or root apps or custom rom counter above zero .
Its as simple as that .
USB recovery jig can set custom rom to zero but not on later firmware with newer bootloader such as beta ICS .

Thank you.. I got answer..

[Q] Can Samsung tell if your phone has been rooted?

My i9100m is having many problems so I have decided to send it in to Samsung for repair under the manufactures warranty. But before I do so, can Samsung tell if my phone has been rooted? If so how can I prevent them from figuring out?

the warranty is not void in Europe if you root the phone or flash a custom rom
You can always use triangle away, it resets your binary counter, and you also can use a JIG to do so.

What method did you use? I believe if you used cf auto root, just restore the stock backup, use triangle away, then unroot via supersu.

Check out this guide to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957160&highlight=cf+root
With most samsung devices, there is a flash counter built in which shows if you have modified anything. When you root, your counter will be tripped thus your warranty voided. However there is an app called Triangle Away which allows you to reset the counter to 0.
hey ... one more thing
do i need to create a backup before rooting the tablet ???

[Q] Custom binary download counter

Hello, i've heard that Samsung has a custom binary download counter, so my question is; does SONY have that too?
The reason is that i flashed many custom roms on my phone and now I have some dead pixels on my camera and i can't send it back to Sony cause I already destroyed my warranty and I heard if I reset a custom binary download counter i will be able to restore my warranty?

To the best of my knowledge Sony does not have a custom binary download counter like Samsung devices have. If you restore the stock ROM to your device you should be good to go to send it back.
