Anyone notice a shortening of the maximum video length on MM? it seems like all video recording modes limits the max time to 5 min. I've tried 60fps 1080p, 30fps 1080p and 24fps 1080p. Before the update there wasn't any limit before as I have longer videos recorded in those settings on lollipop.
I've heard 1080p at 60 was maxing out at 5, but not other modes.
Can anyone who has take the MM update chime in on limits to other modes?

Saw that no one did a reply on this, MM recording for HD doesn't have a time limit. Only UHD has the 5 minute record time

Actually, mine does limit 1080p at 60fps at 5 mins, but 1080p at 30fps has no limit. Not a big deal to me since even hdx movies are only 24fps.

Hey I am using my WiFi and get around 20 mbps down and 10 up. Why when watching HD videos on YouTube it has to stop and start buffering around ever 45 seconds? I watched a 4 minute video and it had to stop ad start around 5 times. Quiet annoying I'd say. 20 down and 10 up isn't good enough to watch a 4 minute long HD video on a cell phone? Anyone else experienced this?

I have a 50 down and 20 up connection. Even when I play YouTube 1080p videos on my desktop it buffers a lot. I think its just Google's servers.
Have you tried a pc YouTube seems to buffer a lot in general, lol.
I'll try on my phone.

HD works fine by default. Try checking for updates such as PRL etc. Obviously make sure your on wifi... I know you said you are but for those with this problem and haven't posted yet, it's the simplest things that we forget!

Easy you install the YouTube HD apk on your E4GT gsii and you'll have HD/HQ. Also the sgsiii is 720, wrong model. Even though the gsii is not 720 the HD difference is noticeable. Back on topic I think that's just YouTube, it does it on every phone I've used HD on.

I've noticed the same thing,I primarily use the YouTube app but with exception to those videos that have to play from browser I get the same issue with buffering, no matter if its 3G or wifi. definitely a big difference when compared to Netflix app streaming ability.I can pause rewind fast forward play pretty seamlessly.

The official youtube app has to stop and buffer every 20-30 sec for me even on wifi.If I watch the same video on full screen through youtube.com on the stock browser there isn't any buffering at all.Maybe their next update will fix it.
I have seen a couple of videos on here where they were recorded in slow motion and those videos looked great, however, I have tried a few times and they always come out looking really bad. (grainy, and blurry). I have tried with all the settings left on auto and also setting things up manually as well (like white balance and ISO).
Is there settings that I am missing to make these videos look as good as they do while recording at normal speed?
Here is the link to the video I shot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjcqQhUIJq0
Also does the camera not record in HD while doing Slow Motion?
I can't help you on making it look better but it doesn't record in HD. The ending resolution ends up being 768 x 432.

It's probably the light. I think the only reason it goes to HD on the youtube video is because the beginning part might be in HD. I still see the grainy lines on the youtube video and in the slow motion videos I shoot.

I think it's HD on YouTube because the user had to edit it on the computer. (Add music) so I think he saved it in a way that YouTube thought it was HD.
I've noticed that I have to edit files in order for YouTube to have a HD option even though the phone records in HD and saves it as a .MP4.

Yeah, the camera does not do HD for slow motion, due to the significantly higher data rates the camera must sustain to do slow motion. It's essentially recording at 120fps or so, which is four times the speed it would record at otherwise. To record in HD, it would require four times the bandwidth and processing power that it does at normal speed.
I've had this phone since it came out and never knew it has that setting.
What is "HDR"?

There are other phones using android that CAN do slow motion HD recording. I assume that this is a software limitation on HTC's part rather than a hardware limitation as the camera on this phone is quite impressive to say the least. Even with my limited knowledge of the inner workings of the android software I would venture to guess that this can at least be brought to 720p slow motion recording. However a speedier SD card may be needed. Man I wish I knew how to dig into Android, I want this camera to be BEAST!
I've had my note for about two months. I came from the one x. One thing i don't like about the note is the grain and noise on dark pictures and video. Guess its just due to the amolded screen. I know being under good light will fix the ones you take but anything I can do to sharpen the image on videos and pics I'm browsing?

I still think we are not going to see "great" night video/picture on any phone for a while yet. We could be two three years away from that imo.
The only way that will happen is if you get a big enough sensor that bulges out of the phone. Like in the case of Nokia builds.

The f2.4 lens can only get so much light. The low light video was sweet in my one, but that's an f2 lens.
The g2 has decent video, but not being able to lock focus and exposure is a really downer. The continuous autofocus kills the videos
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 2
Both video show a brightly lid night scene but blurry, probably the result of low shutter speed and wide open apertures. If there is some way for people to manually set the shutter speed and aperture or make it less aggressive while taking the video, I am sure everyone will be happy.
Trying lower the brightness setting while taking the of the video might help with higher shutter speed and better focus.
The video that shows the drive through Bangkok's road I am impressed by the stabilisation though. =)

It plays back 4k fine. The problem is the screen is only 1/4 the resolution. There is nothing that can be done when the screen is unable to display 75% of pixels that were recorded. There is no software update in the world that can fix that.
