Backup Widget Settings - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F running CM12.1
I use Titanium Backup to backup all my apps and settings and it works really well but the two things that it doesn't backup are my widgets and profiles.
I know that you can backup profiles by saving a copy of /Data/System/Profiles.xml and I know that you can backup widgets using My Backup Root.
I don't want to have to use another app just to backup my widgets and I would like to just keep a copy of the appropriate files saved so that I can restore them manually as I do with profiles.
Does anyone know which file(s) widget setting are saved in so that I can make a copy of it?
Thanks
Steven

[Q] Nandroid & ADW Folders

Hey all,
I'm interested in checking out the CM9 Kang that's going around in the threads, but I just recently updated all my folders in ADW Launcher EX. Is there a way to save the folders so when I flash the kang, I can have the folders with the apps in them re-populate? This would also help so I can flash back to Galaxy Task, etc. I have Titanium Backup but I'm not sure if it can save the folders.
Yeah, I know I could just re-do the folders, but I'm lazy and it takes a while when you have 200 apps
Thanks!
ADW Launcher EX can backup and restore your settings and the desktop configuration: [ADWSettings > Backup and restore], but if you're using Titanium Backup, restoring the data will have the same effect.
I have a problem restoring widgets from other apps in ADW via the desktop configuration backup or Titanium Backup (widget not found) every time a do a full wipe and flash a ROM, but the folders (with apps) inside the dock are restored without a problem.
I suppose that if your folders are in the desktop there won't be a problem at the moment you restore your configuration. Just remember that the icons of every app inside the folders will appear after you restore/reinstall the apps (for some, maybe after a reboot)
+1 for titanium backup. Proof that you own that should almost be a prerequisite to reading the Dev forum here. Imagine how much heartache would be saved if you needed to provide proof that you'd done a recent backup before reading any of the ROM threads!....

[Q] What to save in Titanium Backup to have my widgets & shortcuts on desktops safe?

saving phone setting before reflashing

Hi!
Under appex settings, I see the option to backup rom settings and home screen icons. What happens if I update this same rom? Will I be able to restore everything getting the same sounds for calls as before for instance?
And what if I install a differnet rom using appex as well? Can I do the same thing?
Thanks!
I think Apex is just a Launcher app. So you can backup only its setting (gestures, docks etc.) plus the way u have managed icons in ur launcher.
To perform a successful backup of all applicationsyou need:
Titanium backup
SMS backup
Nandroid Backup (optional).
Regards,

How to backup contacts and apps before flashing a rom?

So i just installed Cyanogenmod 10, and all my contacts and apps have been wiped, fortunately i backed up before flashing the rom, what's the best to restore my contacts and apps after i flash cyanogen?
Well a nandroid will recover eveything to previous state. To backup particular items like contacts and apps then youll need titanium backup or Mybackup pro which will save these for you and can be restored individually to a new rom also root is recommended to backup the most data.
Also contacts can be backed up with out root using the export/import option on the contacts menu screen it will create a file that can be imported to another rom using the same menu just make sure once u create the file its NOT on the internal sd when u do wipes Same goes for the mybackup pro or TB backups make sure to either move them from the internal b4 a wipe and put them back after or link those apps to backup to your external sd card which u can setup within the backup app u choose.

Thanks for answering, i have a question though, i backed up from the recovery screen, would i be able to return to before i flashed the rom?
Use your contacts app to export a vcard and put it into your extSD location. Then use Titanium Backup to do a backup of all your apps (again to the extSD)
If you want to do that for your messages, call logs, and wifi spots. Use Titanium Backup to "Export XML" you will be able to export all three things that I just mentioned.
when you flash the new rom, you just have to reverse the process.
(import vcard, import xml, restore apps and data)
EDIT: Forgot to answer your other question. what you can do is to make a backup of your new rom (nandroid), restore the older one, do all the things i mentioned earlier, restore the new rom, then finally import them all back in.

If you *can* use My Backup Root to backup your widgets, I think that's your best bet. I'm not sure how My Backup works, but perhaps you could directly access the files in question through the backup it makes.
