IMEI Lost, no backup :( - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ended up flashing the rooted tot file I already had but now my imei is gone . What can I do? My imei on Verizon was bad so I just want to restore the BAD one (not change it for illegal reasons) so I can at least have it working on Straight talk again. Again I'm NOT trying to change it for illegal purposes I just want to restore the BAD one.

[Q] Generic IMEI i9300 0049.. Can't Recover

Hi, my Imei is corrupted, I flashed a custom rom, and I lost my efs/imei, now my IMEI is 0049..and can't do anything.
My best friend has got the same mobile (Galaxy i9300 s3), and he gave to me his efs folder and a back up, I tried to fix my S3 with it, and it doesn't work, when I reboot the nv_data.bin and md5 are generated by the SO, and they are not the same as I copied from my friend.
I have tried to recover it by all ways, s2 guides, recover your imei in 9 steps..but it does not work.
I also tried stock rom, and it is impossible I cannot get a "normal" imei, always 0049..
Any ideas?I need the phone as soon as possible, that is why I don't want to send it to SAT, here in Spain are 15/20 days for repairing T.T
I hope you can help me, Thanks!
PD: If you are here to say I stolen the phone, please DON'T post anything, because I really need it and I payed for it as you DID! :good:

What rom did you try to flash? I've flashed many many rooms and never had an issue like this.

Do not flash another phone's EFS, it's duplicating IMEI, is illegal and is not allowed on XDA. Even the discussion of it.
If you didn't have a EFS backup for your phone and tried some guides already, there's not much you can do. Send it back to samsung?

I9100g imei repair

Hello,

Who can help me with that via teamviewer. The phone also always ask for a network unlock code when the pin of the simcard is entered.
The phone is/was a free one which acceped all cards. But now after the crash it do not accept any card without asking for a network unlock code.
If someone can help me it would be great.
I can also make a payment via paypal if someone help me with success.

First of all, never ever give an IMEI over the Internet, especially your true one. It is enough to mention that your IMEI has been modified. IMEIs can be stolen and in some countries there is a blacklist of them and you risk getting fined or, in some instances, prison.
Now, what ROM are you on? Usually IMEI corruption takes place when you flash custom ROMs. What you should try is flash a stock ROM on your phone. I know my brother has had the issue on his I9000 and he managed to bring back the IMEI by flashing a stock ROM.
If you have a backup of your /efs folder you should restore that. If not, for future reference, you should use Root Explorer or any other file system explorer to backup your folder and have it ready in case **** happens.
Some Kernels, including Siyah Kernel back the folder automatically.

IMEI Missing & no EFS backup

Hi all,
I recently lost my IMEI number (I do not know how, I did not install any weird apps).
The IMEI number says unknown, the network does not work.
Some things to note:
I am not rooted, never have
Using official FW 2.3.3
Never made EFS backup
Have original box (with IMEI number might help?)
Did not install any malcious application
I have read that if I root the device and try the GSII_repair it MIGHT fix, but I don't want to run into more trouble having to result in a BRICK or anything.
Is there any way to restore the EFS thing without having to resort to Samsung?
Solution?
You might need to root your phone.
Since it only needs a new IMEI number you could backup all of your apps and settings and reflash the same firmware and finally restore apps.
This will almost likely require you to root

Good luck and don't give up!:fingers-crossed:

I tried rooting the phone,
I tried the GSII_Repair, no luck.
Any hope?
Without a backup, no. If you've never messed with the phone (not rooted/not run non-stock firmware) & you bought the phone new, your warranty should be good. If so, use it. If not, it's either pay Samsung/authorised repairer to fix it, or ask local mobile repair shops. You may get lucky.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 IMEI problem

A while back i decided to downgrade my stock 4.3 to 4.1.1 in order to try to unlock it from carrier... the thing is i lost my IMEI and Serial Number
The good news is i have a backup of my EFS folder (only copy-paste with "root explorer" app though... no ".img" file sadly), but I understood that the most important file is "nv_data.bin"
So... my problem seems to be like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...ackup-t2544109
but only the last step (put back the nv_data.bin, delete backups of bad nv_data.bin, reboot and magic)
The sad part: it doesn't resolve anything because everytime I reboot the phone it recreates the "nv_data.bin" even if I restore the original one (the one i had before downgrading)
Can anyone help me please ?
I have also tried as seen in other posts to change it's owner into radio:1001, unfortunately it still recreates the file after reboot.
I am currently trying to go back on 4.3 to try to restore the nv_data.bin on that verison (but i don't think it has anything to do with the android version)
Anyone encountered this problem or knows a solution ? Thank you !

It as everything to do with the android version. On 4.3 your efs is v2 when you downgrade to below that your phone can't read anything because it is efs v1. Unless your backup was taken while you where on efsv1 then there is no way of restoring it you need to be on 4.3 and above. Also when restoring efs that are backed up via a root explorer you have to make sure every permission is correct when you paste the files back. Hope that helps.[emoji1]
will try it the next days, currently i am pretty busy, thank you, i will let you know how it went... didn't knew efs has versions
Thank you !
P.S. Yes i have backed up the EFS from 4.3, now i was trying it to repair it on 4.1.1, I will try to restore it on 4.3 again ! Hopefully it will work

I have the same problema, but I dont have the backup , can you delivery the rom 4.1.1..
thanks ...
If you didn't backup the efs folder then take it to a repair centre, there is no other way to fix it.
Make sure it works on 4.3 before you pay them.
i flashed a friends CWM backup file on my s3 and i lost imei and network mine was 4.1.2 the backup was 4.3 now i reflashed the phone with a 4.3 firmware from sammobiles. i am getting the signal bars but the phone woudnt register on any network and when i take service mode (*#0011#) ath the bottom it says IMEI CERTI : FAIL, what should i do please help me
If flashing 4.3 firmware and factory reset didn't restore imei then take it to a repair centre.

Lost IMEI,no backup

Again I'm trying to restore the BAD one not a new or different one.
We can't discuss IMEI changing because it can be used for illegal purposes. Even if you wanted to change it back to original that procedure could be used to change it to something else
You can use a crow-bar to commit a crime too, or even a car. Just because someone can use something for illegal reasons doesn't mean they will. Try this Xposed module: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vivek.imeichanger&hl=en
I do not know if this works on LG phones, but Samsung had a command on one of their devices I owned previously that I had lost the IMEI due to a bad flash.
The command I ran was "nvram reboot restore" or "nvram restore reboot" through terminal or adb. This will possibly, if LG has the same thought, restore the IMEI to the original (BAD) state.
I can't guarantee this will work, or that it might make it a fancy paper weight so run this at your own risk.
