About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially. We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more. It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Are you coming from a ROM with Layers?
Make sure you remove your 'overlay' folders and perform a FULL WIPE
My battery stats are all messed and reporting the wrong percentage, what can I do?
Stop using another kernel. Do a FULL WIPE and flash the ROM again
Is this ROM CM based or AOSP based?
This ROM is based off AOSP
Does this ROM have layers or the CMTE?
This ROM uses the CM theme engine
Pulse doesn't work with [insert music app]
Check this thread out https://plus.google.com/101146731143...ts/TcSzc61xuVx
I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

Wohooo thanks for keeping DU alive for our device!!
@bobglaus just two quick questions. What toolchain do you use to compile the rom and kernel? And does this ROM support f2fs in all partitions?

Well the du kernel wasn't actually aosp based. It was a cm kernel. So this is pretty much du kernel because I took the cm kernel and added all du specific commits. I added a few extra kcal patches from savoca I think they cherry-picked in. I added governors and I'm working on adding the rest now. I plan to add more features to thw kernel. I will also be using every test commit that's relevant on the gerrit. It has optimized bionics art sqlite also ubertc for kernel and ROM 4.9.4

It should support f2fs and its compiled with uber 4.9.4. I would upgrade it to 7 but the Bacon kernels really don't like it when it happens. I see a lot of errors.

I can confirm that f2fs works!... just after the initial setup I have to say my phone flies. The rom feel soo smooth. I'm sure the optimizations play a big role. Thank you OP for carrying on the work for this device. Looking forward to see how the battery fares, will have to give it some more days before I can comment on that

My builds are set up to build 11 devices every day with the latest Vanir Sources. Now I can't promise every nightly will work but most of the *SHOULD*. I have tested the builds that my scripts have spat out before and they all work just as well as if I did it by hand. This just saves me time and effort. I am also looking for a easy way to mirror. Google Drive is just super easy to upload to with my scripts but I would love to have a mirror that updates automatically too. Let me know if you have ideas.

They have the exact same base just with new stuff added on top for my builds so it *SHOULD* be fine, but I make no promises. When dirty flashing there is ALWAYS a risk to be had. I dont see any reason why it wouldn't work. Just be prepared to wipe if you flash and run into weird errors.
To be careful I would:
Wipe (/system, /cashe, /davlik)
Flash Rom and Gapps of your choice
Flash Kernel or Fixes you want (Many kernels dont work properly with vanir but I know uber does with the fixes I have made for it.
Reboot to system.

AOSP Kernels need to edit the Ramdisk in order to be used with vanir because it is a CAF-Hybrid. Uber has scripts that it runs when it is installed to make these edits, but MANY kernels do not. I find it doubtful that franco would. The main changes that need to be changed are the PM Drivers because the Vanir Kernel uses CAF one and AOSP use AOSP ones so you need to change where it searches for the PM drivers in the ramdisk.
If you run an incombaitble kernel your battery will drain to no end. if you look in the battery status it will say that the android system is draining all the battery by keeping the device awake. (Basicly the PM drivers arent running) The way to fix this is to edit the ramdisk. There are like 20 lines or so you need to edit. It can be done manually but you cant mess it up or you might get a bricked phone.
The uber fix I have listed fixes some audio bugs that uber and other AOSP kernels have with vanir. In short it is do-able to make franco combatible with Vanir, but the scripts aren't in place and franco would need to do or someone who wants to kang his work.

Check battery settings, power saving mode.
For AT&T I use LTE & 3G , when screen is locked battery savings is activated from 12 to 12 .
Just move the white button down one like @Williamsss said

As always, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device due to custom rom / kernel flashing & other lovely things that you do with it
It is expected of you to know what you are doing.
We intend this to be a friendly, learning thread.
Requests, Suggestions & feedback are always welcome.
Team Twisted would like to bring to you - Twisted Android Project
This has been a serious learning experience for all of us involved as well as a super fun trip
We totally enjoyed making this, and hope you like it as well.
We would first and foremost like to Thank all our friends., There are many, many devs here on XDA who have been patient with us and have always been there to lend a helping hand. It would be impossible to name all of you, but if we have spoken to you even once, we are deeply grateful for what you have done.
Something that may seem very simple to one person, would have probably helped us get out of a hole that we were stuck in for days
Help has been invaluable, we will not forget it!
Special thanks to our awesome Testers.Their constant support on a minute to minute basis has been incredible and invaluable There have been days of flashing 12-15 different builds in a session, and all of you have been so helpful, patient, and so much fun to be around, it made doing this a huge pleasure. Unknown usernames online have become good friends, and this is by far the best outcome of this project.
Thanks to all the folks over at the Slim Builder’s Collective, where all of this began
We would like to note that we do not take credit for any of the code for any of the features we have included. All thanks goes to the super awesome, and highly talented devs and teams. We have tried as far as possible to maintain credits in our GIT commit pages, but if in any instance during conflict resolution, or when we commit using SmartGit, the original author’s name has been obfuscated, please accept our apologies, do bring it to our attention, we will correct the oversight immediately. We are extremely thankful to all the coders out there who put out amazing new features, patches and updates that makes the Android experience a lot more brilliant…
This is our small contribution back to the community that taught us everything :good:
Thanks to SlimRoms, CM, OptiPop, Layers Team & many of the other open source projects out there.

Coming from stock or another ROM:
Factory Reset
Full wdata, wipe: system, cache, dalvik cache.
Flash latest firmwares if you haven't flash it yet.
Flash the Twisted build.
Flash gapps
DO NOT Flash latest SuperSU
Coming from previous Twisted build:
Flash the Twisted build.
No need to wipe dalvik-cache.
Layers Backup app in twisted apps allows you to retain the set layers after a dirty flash. We recognise the fact that there is a similar feature within Layers Manager, however there is a major difference.
You set all the layers you want, click on the backup & let it do it’s work. After you do a dirty flash, the ROM boots with your layers pre-installed. No need of a reboot.
If you are facing issues with the power button not responding, got to Display, check ‘Prevent accidental wake up’. Then switch it off again. Reboot.
Flashing SUperSU during ROM flash may result in losing Advanced Power Menu
No reason for xposed not to work on twisted. But if any issues, we may not be able to support them

On a ROM related note, incredible work you guys have done on this. Thanks for all the blood sweat and beers that you guys have put into this for the past few months. It's fast, has more features than you can ever need and the battery almost reminds me of KK.

*Welcome to Tipsy OS*
This is something Martin Coulon (@martinusbe) started in his 'free' time when waiting for GZR Validus or Tesla builds and having some drinks.
He just started with a slim base; on lp and early mm, and now using AOSPB as a base (wich Martin is also a part of)....then added what we thought useful.
It grew up to be a fully functional Rom
The main goal is to keep it AOSPB/Slim based and will not add any cm features unless AOSPB/Slim does.
TipsyOS is Black and Yellow default themed, we don't like white UI, so it may look a bit weird on light switch,
but heh! use layers to suit it your needs =)
We are a team wich is constantly learning and ...drinking because both gets along so well hahaha
Just report the bugs and request features, we'll see what we can do!.......
And don't get it twisted, its not because we're Tipsy that this project is not a serious one, try it and feel speed and stability
My builds are compiled with UBER toolchains 4.9 on both rom and kernel code.
We can go over with 5.2/3, 6 ...but to be really honest, 4.9 is the most battery friendly in my opinion, and is still super smooth and snappy!
Im using a cm device tree base a bit modified...
This rom includes a custom kernel, cm was my base, and i have decided to go a bit wild and cherry-picked up some stuff from:
Francisco Franco, Chet Kener, Faux123, Flar2, Hellsgod, myfluxi and some others
So a huge thanks for them and their AWESOME open sources work!
I will continue to work on this kernel because its fun

Do not attempt to flash dat kernel with other roms, just my 2¢...ramdisk built with tipsy and may just not work on other roms unless they're based on aospb too maybe...but tbh its really not recommended.
About extra governors, im working on it, i have to figure out first why overclock not showing on synapse nor adiutor...

PS: dont flash elementalx kernel, it will cause bootloop. FrancoKernel works. Stock kernel is good too but i miss audio control.
does it work fine on secondary rom as its crashing after gapps flash

only primary rom needs to be kexec patched, means as all other roms, it works on secondary, only thing is; gapps has to be flashed at the same time u flash rom, means before first boot.

This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.

This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.
